    Awesome install. I’ve wondered about this one as I at some point l do this, a swing out bumper, or a hitch mount carrier.

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Rob, i thought about a hitch mount carrier however they would all interfere with the parking sensors. Full bumper with swing out is nice but changes the look of the GX and I'm not going for that full blown off-road look.

    Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I’m running a 35” tire on 17” wheels and I’m a little nervous about this rig’s stability bumping down the trail. I’m using a Wilco hitch carrier and while it fits a need, I’d much prefer something like this instead. Do you know how much your wheel/tire setup weighs? I’m at 90 pounds with mine so if we’re close it may give me more confidence. Thanks and nice video!

    JW didn’t give me any instructions, so huge props for the vid!! One detail missing is the color of wires matching for splicing into the camera wires. OEM wires are red, white, black, and brown. JW’s wires are red, blue, green, and yellow. How are they supposed to connect?

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest I don’t remember about the wiring but here is how to do it:
      Just assign a color from the oem wiring to the JW provided wiring harness, for example keep the red to red, white to blue, black to green, and brown to yellow. That way you can’t mess up if you keep those colors connected at both ends.
      I hope this makes sense.

    Hi, great video and love your channel. Fast question - how do you feel about the JW tire carrier now after having it installed for a few months? I am really close to pulling the trigger on this but since it is such a major modification I want to be 100% sure that this product feels like it will last. Any complaints or issues 3-4 months in?

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Sir, honestly it's a pretty great product so far, everything looks and feels solid up until this point and I don't have any complaints other than they should've sent longer wiring for the license plate light and camera. Thank you for watching, I appreciate it 👊🏻👍🏼

    With the Added weight of the GX , will u be adding a Haynes Transmission Cooler?

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just upgraded my radiator to a bigger/thicker aftermarket one, that should help with transmission temps as the radiator is also a transmission cooler.

    • @DIYSpeedGarage

      That size tire would require a body mount chop, mine doesn't. Plus my tire size gives me an extra 1" of lift.

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't use anything because the parts are have foam backing, plus the doors have drain holes art the bottom. I don't think any water reaches the holes anyways because of the foam backing.

    Another wiring question, what color of the wires do you tap into for the license plate lamp? I tapped into red and black but it runs only 5-6v when the factory lamp is on. The aftermarket led doesn’t light up.

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just remove the connector which goes to the factory plate lamp, put some T taps on there and do it that way. LED should light up. Then you can reconnect it to the factory lamps and they will continue to work with the new LED lamp also. Or you can leave the factory lamp/s disconnected. I think you tapped the wing wires. Basically one of the factory lamps feeds the other one, maybe that's the problem?

    • @DIYSpeedGarage
      @DIYSpeedGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Also just try testing the new lamp straight at the battery, it might be defective. They are cheap ones sold on Amazon and eBay

      If you are getting a winch that means you're getting an aftermarket front bumper, both of these things will add a lot more weight, plus the tent. I would say now would be the time to upgrade the suspension especially because of the extras weight to the front.
