    Hi im from New Zealand watching these Undercover Boss America, has really opened my eyes, I am not meaning to intend any racial slurs or comments, but, i realise that African-Ameicans slay at their jobs, they are passionate and excel in their professions, their employment and the advantages that come with it, they have alot more to prove, socially and econimcally, however, these are still amazing to watch.

    Sorry, but Ronnie is literally the only honest person about what it's like to work with customers. Maybe if these higher bosses spent a proper week working in these jobs they know what it's like when customers act like they are better than the workers and employees are lesser than them. He never said it to a customers face so what's the big deal.

    I totally get how he's feeling. At my first job as a kid at a party store the products the store was selling didn't have any shelving system. It was just 5 aisle of generic stuff and 1 aisle of licensed brands. Some customers would ask me questions like, "were do you guys keep the robotic monkey arms" or "were are the zombie hotdogs", there is absolutely no way I could find them. Then after looking around they'd get mad at me and tell my boss, who never actually trained me. Once I was working at the hat section a guy, instead of waiting in line to ask the wig guy, asked me for one. I told I'm I wasn't able to get him a wig and that he'd have to wait in line for the wig person. He threatened to tell my boss so I got one for him. Then he asked me to show it to him on a stand. I wasn't doing it properly and he got mad. Well, I'm sorry but you cant expect an employee who wasn't trained to handle and show wigs to do it properly. Just wait in line.

    sorry guys but im going to disagree with the big chunk of you. almost none in the us has the chance to pick the jobs they'd love to do. some have to bring home money and do whatever is required. and to brag about stuff behind the counter is so common that i find it excessive to fire someone on the spot.
    the women in the show is no exception, every boss in this show demands passion and love for the job regardless of the position the employers are in. imo as long as people do the job well i don't care in what tone they talk to each other. btw, i don't defend ronnie here. he seems to have been lazy but what she pointed out was something else - so i disagree with the conclusion or rather with the argument on which she fired him.
    PS: i don't speak english very well, hope you understand what i mean nevertheless

    To people who had watch at 12:00 .
    the coin has 2 faces , as such there are good customers and bad customers . You just had to deal with them
    When i was working as a cashier , I had to deal with a customer that has a strange attitude who likes clean plastic bags.
    My fellow colleagues knew a way of how dealing this customer in a peaceful manner .
    I tried and it works ! Here is a advice , when u had this type of customers/ employees , instead of cursing and swearing , why not look another alternatives way to neutralize the problem . Love your job , show your professionalism towards the job!

      Yes, but you have to keep it to yourself, especially at work. Everyone knows working in the service industry is terrible, but there's a time and a place for it. Slagging off the company you work for, while on company time and while knowing you're on camera is just stupid. The standards are even higher as a supervisor, since everyone under him will think that that kind of behaviour is okay.

    In Ronnie's case, follow the example of the Tilted Kilt CEO who gave Marissa a second chance. Retraining is a chance to see if the employee in question takes the chastisement seriously and changes their attitude. Someone given a second chance will often rise above expectations because they did not really perceive how they were acting, how wrong it is in a professional environment and how it actually looks and affects other people and employees. Professionally motivated people will also want a chance to show they have what it takes to be successful and that they can perform by taking direction from their instructors.

      +ApolloX44 I would have to agree, Apollo, though I respect John's viewpoint. If one is in a job that is 100% customer-facing, as in any retail operation, one can't have his attitude toward the customers. Masking it behind a fake cheery face won't fool people, and it will tend to influence the other employees in a negative way. He needed a hard body-check into reality. Yes, it *is* wrong to hate people, and more so when your livelihood involves face to face interaction with people.

    • @simpsonfanboy
      @simpsonfanboy 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +John Driver My main problem isn't that she fired him, but that she lied to him. She sent him home for the day, and while she told him to think about whether he really wanted to work in that field, she suggested that he could get a second chance if he wanted it. Then she turned around and told the manager to fire him. It's her choice to fire him, but she should stand by it, and tell him he's fired herself, not hide behind her subordinate.

    • @MGower4465
      @MGower4465 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In her place, I'd want to talk about it with the local manager first, to see if he'd been warned about his attitude before. Due to privacy laws, that kind of discussion could not have taken place on-camera. There are plenty of places where a cut could have taken place. As for her "hiding" behind her subordinate, Boston Market owns some stores, and some are franchise. If this store was a franchise, legally she couldn't fire the guy, since he worked for the franchisee, not Boston Market. If it were a company store, even then hiring and firing people is the local manager's job, that's among the duties he took on when he agreed to take the job. If he's any good, he would have insisted that its HIS employee, and his responsibility.

    • @broadstreet21
      @broadstreet21 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tilted Kilt is not in the same league. Marissa was a good employee, boss said she cared about her job and her customers, she had good attitude but her bad language was just out of place. Ronnie's case was more serious - he had a bad attitude. Even then, I said he deserved a second chance (in another post).

    Personally I hate Ronnie as a person however he shouldn’t have been fired. He should have been asked to go though retraining and to change his attitude at work. If it was a small business then I can see why one bad apple could make an big issue for the company but for Boston market which is a large company. Shouldn’t have to be so drastic.

    To be fair, I would not have fired Ronnie - at least not on the spot. The least I would have done was wait until the final reveal, before taking him to task, asking him, "Are you sure you belong in Boston Market?"
    And frankly, I would have fired Skye (Ryan's Buffet), Drew (Menchies'), Jimbo (Hooters'), and definitely Jackie (Retro Fitness) before I would have fired Ronnie. At least Ronnie expressed his true feelings in private, but put on a decent public poker face. The others had openly self-destructive attitudes and it really wrecked their workplace. If three of these four employees could be given the second chance, then Ronnie definitely deserves one.

    • @broadstreet21
      @broadstreet21 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      By the way, if I were ever a boss on Undercover Boss and had to fire someone, I'd ask the producers not to show that story. Last thing I'd want is to publicly shame someone like that - nobody will ever hire him or her ever.

    If she'd waited for a little more time she might have found out if there was a reason why Ronny thought this was ok behavior it the working place. You never know, it could be the boss who told him so.

    Honestly, I would have fired Ronnie. Not because he bashes customers in private, he is totally right on that. I would fire him for not being smart enough to shut up in front of the camera. Even if he didn't know he was on Undercover Boss, he should have guessed his bosses would likely have seen him.

    Yeah yeah yeah, it's real easy to go in for a day and act all like you're the angel who rescues customers from the bad employee. You try working for minimum wage and dealing with rude people and placing pie slices for a living while corporate doesn't even know what it's like, then you see how cheerful you are. How about paying your workers better and not sucking the life out of them. Take some personal responsibility.

    She might as well fire 90% of her employees if she fire that poor kid. He just talked shit about the costumers, and corporate, behind their back to who he thought was an other employee. Literally every employee in the service industry does that. When I worked at a party store the costumers were annoying as fuck and I talked shit about them with my peers, who, by every standard, felt the same way that I did. If our straight up rude to costumer then that's a totally different story. However, he wasn't. All he was trying to do was bond with her in the workspace. Never the less he was kind of stupid for saying those things on camera.

    A real question . I see this very often with big companies but why do they open more and more restaurants/buildings if they can't support them and have to declare bankruptcy ? Only logical thing i can think of is demand but if you have 1000 restaurants that are working full throttle how can you get to the point of going broke ?? Some body enlighten me I'm curious

    All of us are customers and customer service. Ronnie is a customer too if he will buy or eat in an establishment so he literally hating himself. What you say to customers is what yo sayin to yourself. Boss is right. The reason why you can pay ur checks is because you have customers. Its a business. Thats why its a service. You had to suck it all in. Besides if you will meet a rude customer, it doesnt affect of what you are

    I do like undercover boss, but I always think what about the other employees, you only worked with 4, three if them were really good, and have been given opportunities and financial help and recognition, but what about the other employees in the stores who likely also do an amazing job, they just wasn't working with the corporate person. If someone came into my job and a few people where picked out and ended up with all this I'd be pissed off because I know I also do an amazing job, perform better than a lot of people and also have many years more experience ( I am recognised for this with bonuses, pay rises, etc) but I'm sure it can breed a lot of resentment between employees

    seems like they should really work on their policies, its not just Ronnie who says something about the "corporation"
    (the break time, the timer, promotion etc, ) if these would be a series you'll unravel a lot of unfairness to this company.
