Back in the 70s, he made me switch from bluegrass and country guitar to rock and blues after I saw his Midnight Special performance.

No one has a guitar tone like Frank. Saw him at a big Day On the Green festival in the Oakland Coliseum in 79. The line up included AC/DC, Aerosmith and Ted Nugent. Frank blew all of them away.

Frank should be but won`t be remembered as one of the best guitarist singers in the world! He deserves to be known! Push this out to social media on all channels. Let his amazing work and talent be known to the world! You have access to that. Do it for frank who has been forgotten in his own time. LET HIM KNOW THAT WE LOVE HIM FOR HIS MUSIC AND FOR HIS TALENT AS A GUITAR PLAYER!

Fellow Canadian and fellow Montrealer. He is a little older than me but the same age as my brother. In the early 70s when I was in my early teens, I would often hear my brother and his friends talk about a local guitarist called Frank Marino. My brother was also a musician and I remember his band was auditioning guitarist for the band in our basement. I remember one guy who kept yakking away on how great he was. He wasn't that good. After he left our house, my brother said to his band mates "F*ck, this guy is full of himself. He ain't no Frank Marino".

The best cover of "All along the watchtower" . The sound of the studio version is cristal clear, Frank playing is insanely fluid.Maybe his finest track.

I love that the internet has exposed more folks to Frank's awesome music and soulfulness. It makes me really happy to read comments about people just discovering him for the first time. Trust me, there is a lot more where that came from.

One of the most underappreciated, underrated, guitar players ever... Nothing beats '70's rock guitar thru tunes at arena volume... This was the music of my generation and it's so cool when younger people hear it for the first time...

I've been a Frank Marino fan for 50 years, and I'm 67 years old. I saw him live a couple of times in each of those decades and NO ON leaves you as exhilierated, satisfied, and exhausted by the time you walk out of the venue. It is INTENSE, as he is a master of his craft.

I was at that concert California jam 2 1978. You know you got it when 250,000 fans go wild, the story goes in the late 70's early 80's no bands wanted Frank & Mahogany Rush to be the opening act for them because they would make them look bad. No pun intended but you could ask Aerosmith. Why he's not on the list of best guitar players list still baffles me.

I'll tell ya' what's fun for me.....and fwiw I'm almost 69......is to see the expressions you 2 "kids" contort into when you get your socks blown off by and old BOOMER master like Frank Marino. I get the grins just watching you guys' expressions. I've been "hip" to Frank for a good 50 years now. And I enjoy him just as much as I can tell you 2 do. Quickly, he never became the household word in America like he SHOULD have been. He's Canadian....and early early on, signed himself into a horrid contract that basically kept him from getting the exposure down here in the states....and he kept up in Canada mostly. It kept a lid on him for years, unfortunately. Here's another sad note: About 2 years or maybe a little more ago, Frank's hands developed painful problems to where he likely has played his LAST LIVE SHOW EVER. Frank is like me.....he is real spiritual.....a Christian.....and what is known as a "Believer". Frank actually taped a plea to "ALL BELIEVERS" to please pray for him and the horrific likelihood that he'll never play again. If the spirit moves YOU.....please consider praying for Frank....to save this incredible talent from being shut down. Thanks much joel in tucson.

Those days were so much fun. Weed was illegal, but we had it anyway, rock was a new idea hated by the government, and we partied like no one alive today! I am so lucky to have been born in 1962. I got to see it all and I have no regrets! We had a blast! I only wish that America was still free.

MTV. Not much. This was Montreal TV/ So the recording is excellent. In 88 in Evanston Illinois, just outside of Chicago a lil place called Video Beat opened in an old dry cleaner location. Half a block from where I lived. And it was all music. So, I visited often. I rented this video so often that I bought it. Yes, only VHS back then. I transferred my favorites to DVD. Here Frank does his version of Jimi' Watchtower. I saw him do this from 84-2000. Six times I think. But here he is with the original Mahogany Rush at 24 years old. Already a veteran of the rock scene playing for their hometown. Check out the ending of World Anthem. Frank is rolling around the floor, puts the guitar down and then if feeds back until Paul hits a note and it stops. He did that at Cal Jam 2 also. Amazing.

I saw him at Sherwood forrest, just a little jam spot in Michigan many years ago. It is like a hall in the middle of the woods where Ted Nugent and Bob Segar played in the early days. Lots of pot and watermellon soaked with whiskey was served. It was private property so the cops never bothered us. You could fit about 200 people in it and have a party. The late 70`s was a blast!!! I saw all the greats out there. God I miss those days!!! We got stoned jack! We f--king partied! People were passed out in the hall ,in the grass, in the trees, it was good times! Frank tore it up! He was soo good. Just a a bad ass! Rock meant something back in those days. It had a spiritual power to it.

Canada's BEST Heavy Metal Guitarist. Now for all you RUSH and Triumph crazies (which is a good thing) I put Rik in the Rock/Blues/Jazz category , just a smidge above Pat Travers and Jeff Healey in that category but respect any order of the three , and Liefson in the Prog Rock section, with Robbie Robertson in the Folk/Country, and section giving us more the merrier. In the could not get the Monkey Off His Back section would be Skip Spence who was astonishing in the 60's but alas...

Steve Vai is resting, Frank Marino is much higher class than Vai, he is a very multifaceted guitarist who combines many styles, technique, meaning, breadth, palette, literacy in composition, performance, methodology, riffs, accompaniment, super solo, rhythm, every note is thought out, there is everything, and has a wide range of playing techniques, combines rock, progression, blues, jazz, and much more, very good vocals, Vai is good but not as good as Frank Marino, Frank Marino is Randy Rhodes class, there are few guitarists of this level, class, top aerobatics, I recommend paying attention to the 1986 cover, the sound quality is poor, but the performance itself is the most fantastic of all covers, there is simply nothing better.
