Good retirement podcast, so many learning at this age she’s enjoying affordable labor services which is expensive in west .
But it felt like she had wonderful life in UK as well and she didn’t gain much coming back to India in later years. This is life we can’t predict thanks for sharing Avinash 👌

I don't know what you mean by not gaining much coming back to India. The first thing l gained is peace of mind, plenty of spare time, availability of services.
If l didn't have a good life, l couldn't live in England for 42 years. That doesn't mean l am not happy in India. My husband passed away and l dread to think how l could ever cope on my own in England.
There is a always a right time right place for everything. Destiny over which we don't have any control also plays a big role in our life.

For a doctor wanting to come back to lndia, l shall suggest that you contact a hospital, both government and private, in the city you want to settle, and find out the details. Someone not in the medical field, will not be able to help.
If you come back but can't settle, it's better you stay where you are.

@@baijuthomas3716 You're too young to think about how aging works. You will know when it comes.
The answer for your question as to what it means to retire is that no more Monday morning blues, stay in bed till late, plenty of spare time to do whatever you like to do. I must not tempt you. The negative side of retirement is having too much free time can make you lazy. We have different phases in our life and have to go from one phase to the next.

You don't have to come to lndia after retirement. There is no compulsion. Not just India, the whole world is getting hotter. Countries like Spain, ltaly, Greece, Portugal where people usually go for holiday was extremely hot this summer, the temperature in some places went upto 50 degrees. It's even worse for these countries as people are not used to harsh summer.Places like Newyork, Florida, California were also hotter than normal this summer. Many people in America have air conditions in their homes like they do in India.

I hope they don’t get frustrated with the banking system and the countless procedures to get the smallest thing done in India. NRIs would love to invest in India but the government has made it so difficult to do that. India is still very low in ease of getting things done. Employees in banks, financial institutions and government still don’t have customers friendly approach, and partly so for the government bureaucracy.

@ About 18 months ago and the bank kept asking for different things each time and also lost all the original forms and nothing got done. My colleagues have similar experience and are frustrated with the procedures. The private banks make so much money, but would not open a satellite offices in USA and ask many forms with confidential information to be mailed to them from USA.

      @SUJAMUK 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

First of all it's a common rule to keep the copies of the originals or keep it on your phone. Common sense.
People in India, now a days hardly use any cash. Even my car cleaner have phone pe and google pay apps on his phone. Only people mainly elderlies who can't use Internet banking visit banks. You can open accounts on line and do all transactions sitting at home.
Indian government knows better than you whether and when a satellite system should be installed in USA. What confidential documents you are talking about? I am not with you.
I have come back to India and I am not frustrated by the services of the banks. In fact, lndia's UPI system has been introduced in many countries.

I suppose they have an app. As soon as the PAN mumber is entered all details show up on the system.I was pleasantly surprised. Two main IDs you must have are AADHAR card and PAN card.
Pension from UK comes after already being taxed. Any interest from investment like fixed deposit is considered as income and taxed.
You need to have a professional tax consultant who will do your tax returns for a minimal charge. I paid only 4000 rupees. I gave him my bank details and he sent the tax refund due to me to my bank account. I didn't have to do anything.

@@meetasarkar2218 In my retirement home, there are nurses for 24 hours. One doctor comes, l think everyday and the geriatric doctor comes once a month. In case of any problem, you phone the nurse on duty, she will consult the doctor and the doctor will come to see you if necessary.
Every week nurses come to check blood pressure, weight, oxygen level. blood sugar test is done once a month. You don't have to go out and make appointment with the doctor. You don't have to pay for these check ups but if you need a x ray or some other treatment in the hospital, you pay for that.
There is a rehabilitation centre where you can have physiotherapy. You have to pay for using this centre. These are all inside the retirement home and you don't have to go out. There are some nice parks for walking, meditation etc. I have never been to that park yet.
I can't tell you anything about the health insurance. Someone seriously thinking about moving, has to come, stay and find out.
My monthly expenses for staying here is less than 1 lakh a month including rate for the room, maintenance, food and also covers personal expenses like driver, car cleaner, petrol, toiletries, personal attendant if you need, take aways when you fancy.
Breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner is served in your room.
Many people from kolkata go to Hyderabad or Banglore for better treatment.
For someone single or even for elderly couple retirement home is more secured as there are 24 hours security guards, CCTV.
