You are wrong. You have not had a 330e ever. The engine is cold yes, but when it is started in the first few miles the electric motor helps for it. So it never gets the full load. The car take care of engine.

Hello! I have the same car and i found out you can turn the engine on by tapping the gas pedal while you're in park. It doesn't matter which drive mode you're in. The engine will stay on even if you open the door. The first time you tap it, the car engine will turn on then turn off after a few minutes but if you open the door and step out (just like you did in the video), it assumes you want the engine continuously running.
Hope that helps! Not sure if my car is any different - I'm in North America!

I have the x3 30e. no way these things are so annoying. Drive a Renault or a Peugeot for a bit, you'll be crying to get this 330e back.

Thanks for telling me that I was considering this car because the price of the car has dropped to RM54k in August 2024 from car dealer but the ending stop and turn on by itself is annoying :( coming from a BMW F30 320i driver

Hey, I have a quick question. I own a 2017 BMW 330e with 79.9K miles. My dealership has always told me that the transmission doesn’t require servicing because it’s a sealed unit. However, after watching some videos, I’ve learned that the transmission can actually benefit from service and that it’s recommended every 30-60K miles. Despite this, my dealership refuses to perform the service, now claiming that at nearly 80K miles, it’s too late. They’re saying that changing the fluid at this point could cause the gears to slip. Has anyone else encountered this or have any advice?

I've had the '18 330e with M Sport package for about a year now and I love it but the 14 mi battery range makes we want to get a newer year ('22 has 23 mi battery range). I've also experienced another common issue with the gas tank not releasing if you're under 1/2 a tank and haven't been running the engine prior to filling up. From the comments here I learned how to keep the engine running while getting out of the car, thanks for the tip!

BMW recommends "No need to wait for the engine to warm up" these cars use 0w20 which is can operate at 0 degrees so it's completely safe to start the engine whilst on the motorway. Just do the service between 5k to 8k miles max and use Fuel system cleaner if you jave reached 80k+ miles.
I own this beauty and it runs like a charm!

put the car in sport as soon as you get out of youre driveway. Sport has the engine running permanently, with rougher shifts(especially at slow speeds).

What I do to turn on the engine in park is tap the gas and open and close the door without getting off the car. If you don't open and close the door it'll got back to electric again.

I agree. I have a 330e and I put the shifter in sport when it’s cold to warm the engine . I can’t imagine that it’s good for an engine to cold start during heavy acceleration.

I own a ‘17 330e with 64k miles and a ‘14 420D M-Sport xDrive with 132k miles… I drive the 420D more for a reason. Even though the 330e is my newer car, drives smoother, has more options like HK sound system, 360 camera, and Apple CarPlay I still don’t care to drive it. I bought it after my 420D was paid off thinking I’d sell the 420D privately in the next few weeks but have found myself still driving the 420D at least 4-5 days a week.
Edit: I’d like to add that I will be getting rid of the 330e and 420D once the 330e is paid off so I can trade them both in towards a 2021 M4 or 2023 X3M.

The N47 in the 420d feels great. I had that in my 2014 520d for 3 years and loved it. I'd think i'd like the 330e in traffic over the 420d, but in highways, not really. Good luck on the M4 🤘🏼

hello , very good car, it is true that BMW could have provided something to keep or heat the engine or an oil pump that works all the time because starting an engine under full load when cold is disastrous, for that every time I plan a journey longer than the battery life I always warm up before leaving. moreover in cement with the cold (I live in norway) the electric propulsion system only works to launch the car because the battery is too cold to provide the energy so the thermal engine starts almost immediately after 10 km/ h so suddenly I put on the heat before leaving by opening and closing the door to let it quietly heat up for 5 minutes and then I go in manual but automatic mode to avoid the start/stop. and with the cold the autonomy is very low about 15kms with the heating against 27-29 in summer

    • @AJDrives
      @AJDrives  ปีที่แล้ว

So I got the m sport 330 and put vented discs on it and after market pads and don’t have problem with overheating, there is a problem though with transitions from regen breaking into normal breaks as it’s too harsh. For me the worst thing is my back sits don’t fold down so I can’t get pretty much anything into the boot.

I also hate the cabin air intake and window cowl . Wtf it is a miserable and constant chore removing leaves and debris from under the hood . Awful design. The sos button by the sunroof you pop it open all the time . I don’t understand what was wrong with having a little yellow light to come on next to the fuel gauge when it’s low. Why must a yellow triangle of ambiguity appear and the only way to see what it is telling you is buried in multiple menus in iDrive. The unengineered so many aspects of their older cars

Why did you buy a hybrid? All stuff you hate in this hybrid are precisely the advantages of having one! Btw when the engine quicks on for the first time the car still uses the battery mainly for something like 10 to 20 seconds. This gives the engine some time to warm up (at least a bit). If you decide to rev up the car as soon as the engine starts after a long stop, well you are probably asking for problems. Space and handling are of course not as good as in a "normal" petrol for obvious reasons. This is not a race car. Range is exactly as the manufacturer claims. Of course it will depend on how you drive. Exactly the same as for ICE cars. I have a BMW hybrid and the car does exactly the miles the manufacturer claims.
