Driven both and I have to say, Volvo are very cool and you have a bit of luxury in the truck. The power is nice but the double clutch gearbox is absolutely amazing. It changes gears like a sport car and no speed is lost on downshifts going up hill BUT, SCANIA is just another level. The driving position, the seating, steering wheel adjustablity is just better. In a Volvo, you sit on the truck, in a Scania you sit in the truck and feel like you're part of it. Plus the Scania cab is wider from usable space.

We have a interchangeable saying here in Sweden.
There are only two truck. One is a combination of power, comfort and style. The other is a Volvo

Hey I'm from somewhere deep in Africa. And when I was a kid and we didn't own a car, travelling to the village was a very long journey. This was back in the mid 1990s. The bus service we used bought Scania buses and let me tell you those buses could cover 600km in 8hours. And yeah we had Isuzu, Fuso and Nissan buses which took 12hours plus to cover the same distance. I remember very well during an uphill climb, the Scania gave this whistling and growl sound from its engine and my mom would literally look worried coz the bus got into beast mode and ate that hill for breakfast. As an adult I have seen more Volvos in these parts which I confess have a better aesthetic look than Scania but I really adore Scania for performance. And ever since I got MY ETS2, I always drive a Scania which always accelerates faster than other trucks and is basically a beast on the road. (I know, its just a game, lol) Scania forever!
I am lucky enough to have access to both Scania V8 S cab and Volvo FH16. It is like comparing apples to pears. Both are delicious, but different.

The selling point fir Volvo was more reasonable for it purpose. Fuel efficiency, safety and reliability all attractive for a company. A truck that can go more miles between refueling (saves money on gas), safety for drivers are the truck (saves money on not losing drivers or trucks) and reliability (saves money on repairs). Ofc a Scania is safe and reliable too but where does sportyness benefit the company. For personal use sure the V8 with the trim and little more fun the road. But for the bottom line sportyness is of least importance for what it's ment for. You wanna save money to gain more without having to compromise. If I ran a trucking company I would take fuel efficiency, safety and reliability over V8, 30 more horsepower and sportyness any day.
In all honesty tho you can't go wrong with either.
But there are a lot of trucks owned by their drivers. For your argument most of these will buy Scanias. Moreover, even in a company if drivers are given chance to vote they will go for scania

Thèse two models are of course exceptionnal. But we must add that if you use them for a " common " job , as fridge for example ( I know , choosing such an high power shouldn't be for this...) , the fuel consumption is really better with Scania !

The 2 best all round truck manufacturers, in my experience. The 2 most fuel efficient big trucks too. Scania I favor mainly because my house sits on the back of a 1981 Scania 111.
Like both, both of them make some top flagship trucks, but scania is my pick as scania has the legendary v8, plus they also have some powerful sub models such as s650, s520

I am a huge fan of Scania.
Because they started modular design that other makers can’t.
And they launched hybrid truck while other makers focus on electric which are way expensive.
I like both, but overall I like Volvo best.

Scania and Volvo are IMO the best trucks money can buy! In my eyes Scania is better. The looks, the interior, tuning options, the V8, oh the V8... This sound can not be matched! It is really personal preference and mine is Scania.
VOLVO always the best performance in North and West Africa country. In the east, Scania is the best seller. Scania is good for the high way. Volvo truck is good for all road. I'm prefer Volvo.

SCANIA is the only brand I see commonly competing the MERC ACTROS around the world...so I'm tempted to think they are better.

But I think Scania's logo is much cooler, at least the Scania-Vabis logo before Saab merged with Scania. The griffin has always been in it, long before Volvo even existed...

Each vehicle has its own advantages and disadvantages. but in my country big companies use Scania more. maybe in terms of price factor. Thank You
I think the conclusion on fuel efficiency as a reason for choosing Volvo is wrong in so many ways. This feature is what Scania is best known for and with the new SUPER powertrain no other brand comes even close!

Perfect as usual. Why don't trucks companies use hybrid system like as cars company ? I can't undrestand when they combine battery and diesel power especially on Steep roads they can have more fuel consumption. And they can charge the battery in downhill roads
It's call basic physics. Part that you got understand mate.
Any extra weight in a truck reduces your payload capacity and therefore your ability to earn money.
Hybrid systems add substantial weight in the form of extra batteries and motors.
Doing long haul driving, particularly in Australia you do not use the brakes enough to generate useful charge in the batteries.
Scania do a Hybrid truck but it is designed for light urban loads
@@jonoe5932 yes but hybrid trucks don't need big battery. I think Australi roads don't need hybrid system because roads are flat. But I think in urban or mountain roads it has advantage. But the trucks companies didn't particular attempt to make hybrids trucks.

The funny thing is i've never met a Scania fan that has later switched to loving Volvo more. But I have met a lot of Volvo fans that have switched to Scania once they've driven a Scania. Funny how that goes.

In twenty years of driving trucks most of the trucks have been scania and the only trucks that have come close is the volvo the rest are pretty rubbish so scania definitely comes out top a well designed cab interior comfortable seats good quality materials and build the engine and gearbox is excellent even the lower power 450/460 pulls well with 44 tons holds top gear well the new 460 super im driving is achieving 10 to 11 mpg on 40 + tons
I like Volvo only because of it braking system . But apart from that, I LOVE SCANIA ❤

Tricky question for all ETS2 players, I have and use both trucks at equal intervals.
In the last 2 years Volvo has gone into partnership with The Daimler Group who build the Mercedes Benz Trucks with a view to developing hydrogen engines for their trucks/buses & coaches.

I drive a Scania and I wouldn't trade it for any Volvo. Volvo has too many electrical and mechanical faults. Scania has significantly more torque, or at least it feels like it compared to Volvo, so we are talking about I6 engines. The V8 engine competes in a completely different league compared to the Volvo. Volvos are so spacious inside and I-Shift is nice, but power is decisive in my field, so of course Scania is the winner's choice
Volvo and spacious in one sentence.... I never thought I would see that one! The Volvo cabin is one of the most cramped ones on the market. Don't even get me started about storage space...

Both trucks are just great! I like both Scania and Volvo, I like Volvo for its appearance, I like Scania for the interior! Volvo performs well in the north, in harsh conditions, the cabin is warm, but the cabin is a little cramped. Since I'm a fan of both brands, but still, I'll choose Volvo.

The only reason were stuck with cab overs because the over total length the trucks are allowed to have in europe longer truck means shorter trailer but here in holland we make torpedo noses for scania check them out really baddass

Ayrıca Scania V8 motorları üstten değil bloktan eksantrikli ( yanılıyor muyum?) bu da oldukça eski bir teknoloji.Buradaki en büyük sorun Volvo’nun 16.1 lt hacmindeki düz 6 silindirli motorunun 750 hp oluşu.Bu motordan 800-880 hatta 960hp güç üretilebileceğini düşünüyorum.Ama ne hikmetse Volvo uykuda gibi bu konuda hiç bir haber duymadık.

Both brands make more than just trucks they make engines too scania engines are used on tractors (Case) and heavy equipment generators (Kohler) in the beginning of maximun overdrive the drawbridge had a generator that was a 14l Scania V8 that makes me wonder if they offered the older V8 models in a spark ignited natural gas version. Kohler Generators used Volvo or Scania at one time us automotive brands made industrial engines gm ford and chrysler did too gm is the only automotive brand left to offer such engines

Here in SADC Africa volvo rules interms of power hp to hp volvo wins and here we get straight forward engines without egr src it's just pure engines and the volvo wins the fh volvos pulls like train the volvo dh 16 has a reputation of pulling over 150 tons of abnormal load alone so ya were I come from its volvo all day

Scania is the only truck with V8 today, except for one chinese truck, the Shacman X6000. Volvo indeed had a gasoline 3.6 litre V8 with 120hp in some of their trucks between 1956 and 1966 - but no V8 since then.

I don't really know too much about the trucks but I do know that Volvo are the most popular bus/coach builders in the world.
I do love to travel on a well-built Volvo bus or coach.
My own personal preference would be Volvo over Scania.
On the subject of buses/coaches our local Stagecoach depot up until recently used to operate the Dumfries to Edinburgh services 101 & 102. For this service they used Scanias but I overheard one of the drivers talking on the way back from Edinburgh whilst we were parked at Biggar telling another driver that the Scania (62-reg) struggled on the incline - I.e. wasn't really the best at going uphill.

Now outdated as volvo has retook the crown of most powerful with their new 780hp. Also the v8 engines weigh half a ton heavier than the straight 6 equivalent so will mean less payload.

Not half a ton - 90kg. The Volvo D17 engine is 75 kg lighter than the Volvo D16 engine (1325kg) that is only 15 kg lighter than the Scania DC16 (1340kg)

U missed one huge point, space inside the cab, Scania wins by a lot, Volvo is like a sardine can. MAN onws Scania afaik and MAN has even bigger cab. Same with Mercedes but MB is it's own company. Scania was the queen and will be, Sodertalje is the place.
