The biggest benefit of the y62 is that it doesn't have any common rail diesel fragilitys to suffer from, very reliable drivetrain!

Good video. In my opinion, these days, there really aren't any "bad and unreliable" new 4wd's anymore.
No matter what you buy, there'll always will be haters. They'll hate the brand you buy. They'll hate the fact it's petrol. They'll hate the fact you only have one solid axle, or none.
We've got 2 jeeps, we know all about haters.
As long as one is happy with the vehicle they've bought. As long as that vehicle does what it is expected to do, who cares.
I do know one thing, those Y62's sound mint.
    Keep up the good work.

Had my Ti-L patrol 18 months. Had the lift, 35s front bar, suspension all done. Looks a beast. Love it. Done the full lap of Oz towing a 3.5t van. Average full calculated on a spreadsheet 22.5l per 100. Don’t even notice the wood grain. Drives like a gem. Beach driving! What beach. It is like driving on a highway. Handles it with ease. Good value for money in my opinion.

Mate took my factory Y62 patrol up Mount Meharry in WA, which is an epic, hardcore steep rocky crumbling 4wd track. Had the stock 265 tyres on and all, no bloody worries, the thing ate it up with ease! Love this car and what it can do, feels so safe and secure. I'm running 285s now and no lift, the thing is pretty unstoppable!

I bought my patrol new this year. The wife said she’d pay to get the wood grain wrapped, I said I couldn’t care less, I don’t pay any attention to it. People carryon about the patrol having the wood grain and a CD player, so does the new 300 Sahara, the current Kakadu even has it one the steering wheel, people carry on about no apple car play, my wife’s new Mercedes’ has all that crap, I still don’t use it when I drive it, the patrol head unit reads out my messages if need be, i use my phone for google maps which plays through blue tooth, people replace the head units with the after market screens, look like cheap plastic rubbish, I’d prefer the factory unit. The engine in the patrol is a absolute pearler, plenty of grunt, still blows a 200 and 300 off at the lights if need be and gives the boys inn their commodores a good run for their money and surprises a few, love it when they jump over to the left lane and there lane runs out on the other side of the lights and they have to pull back in behind. For a huge 2800kg brick on wheels and being able to pull 100 around the 7 second mark surprises a few. I believe the new Y63 will be twin turbo V6, it will be quicker then the V8 but nothing has the rumble of the vk56 under the bonnet of the current patrol, change the factory muffler to a sports muffler for around $300, it has a great sound, no droning, fantastic vehicle

Loved the vid. I know the 'hate' stuff you're going through. I've had a lot of shade about my swb Prado being a toy car, not a 'real' Landcruiser etc etc... and that's just from Toyota blokes! A 2 inch lift and all terrains, she's never let me down in over 10 years. Best thing I love is the factory rear locker, let's me stroll up hills the 70 series vehicles have to lead foot on, spin wheels and lift wheels at weird angles. Being out in the bush is the best no matter what you drive!
I'd love to see you do a wheatbelt trip. While not too tough, there's still plenty of interesting tracks around. Keep on doing what you love! Cheers Mara 😁

In Australia, America and most of the European countries you can fit a high clearance bumpers/bull-bars with winch, spot lights, light bar, Antenna and on the rear a dual swing outs for bigger spare, maxtrax mount, jerry can carrier on your 4wd. Drive around town with no issue. However in India that's against the law. The penalty for offenders ranges from anywhere between ₹1000 and ₹5000. This is apart from the fact that cops will ensure on-spot removal of those bars.

    1. The DS A pillar/mirror combination is too thick - have nearly hit cars on roundabouts a few times.
    2. Why does the bloody engine have to rev to 1500 on start up & wake the whole house up?
    3. The drama of getting the spare wheel out - dont start me on that!
And as for the knocker & whinges - I just (rudely) walk away which takes away their audience.

Personally, for the price you pay, and how much of a family car the 62 actually is, the interior multimedia, is fucking garbage. Yes, the driver may not look at it, but you may have 6 to 7 other passengers that would like to have a nicer engaging system.

Pay 2k for a upgraded centre console if it’s that much of an issue still cheaper and better than a 200 in every way.

@4x4 Camping and Adventures 100%, I don't disagree, I worked on cruisers as my profession for a number of years. 2k in the scheme of paying 95 to 105k is nothing really, and considering descent 3 way component speakers are now going for more then that, why not invest in the entertainment. A review on things that are issues like the cats and carbon build up that happens on these things would be ideal for some potential owners too
