    Good honest review mate.
    The break down in fuel consumption V's accessories, speed and aerodynamics was great as most 4x4 owners wouldn't consider this. After all It is a V8 petrol and that is to be expected, however fuel consumption of 10/14 per 100 (standard trim) is pretty bloody respectable for a 3 tonne vehicle.
    As for your warranty issues, all makes of vehicles have problems and the worst of them are carried out by doing recalls. Your issues are relatively minor, however some of these are Factory mechanical design issues, that Nissan has has more than likely taken care of by now in their later releases.
    Great looking set up and good review.

    Great review. I have a S4 2019 model with 38k kms. No dramas so far. Doing the breathers is on the to do list for sure. My car had the snorkel when I bought it. I guess it was used for 4wding, as I found a decent sized stick jammed in the rear lower control arm ( got it out ) They are a great car, which is evident in the increased sales of late.
    I noticed the ding high in the drivers rear quarter?? Did that happen after the repairs?
    How good are the bush barriers??

    With my 2019 Y62 S5, the fan comes on during low range prolonged driving where the airflow through radiator is not fast enough to cool. Going into 4wd low might sometimes when vehicle is climbing upward slope, so I select a bit earlier. All breathers have been terminated in snorkel's air box. If the car has been running for a while, I prefer to wait a few mins before entering the first water crossing to prevent water entering through seals. Despite all, a bit of luck is involved in these.

    • @OzPatrol66
      @OzPatrol66  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good info, yes, my fan also stays on in low range occasionally, due to auto temp i reckon

    In the middle east it's common knowledge if you wanna go to the desert and come back, you get a land cruiser or a patrol, built like a tank and will keep running forever with little issues.

    Airbags cause more problems than they fix. Bit like air shocks in the old days ripping shock mounts out.
    I have a R51 Pathy, same platform as the Y62, and just have an uprated variable rate spring in the rear and it works a treat.

    Comparing fuel economy for caravans is very tricky and full of bias. I'm sure some truckers know more about this than me.
    If you drive at 90kmh with no wind, on the flat, in the cold in Victoria, you'll be getting good economy. In the Queensland heat in the hills in a headwind, going wide open, you'll be drinking the juice really fast.

  • @Alank63
    @Alank63 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Hi, like your video. I have a series 5 which is standard, including tyres, and agree with your 10 per cent regards speedo error. However, I have found the odometer to be correct despite the inaccurate speedo.
    Your fuel usage comments are pretty much line ball with mine, we tow a 3t JB caravan and 20 to 23 ltrs at about a true 100kmph. I tend to drive it manually except in traffic and rarely use cruise when towing as I personally think its use causes much heavier fuel consumption especially in hilly terrain.

    • @OzPatrol66
      @OzPatrol66  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The first trip 2019 I didn't have the muddies, the second trip 2021, I took the nittos, unless I change diff ratios the 34s are so much better for fuel economy, cruise control, auto happier, less wobble, buy of course the 3 muddies are so much better for a Cape trip.
      Diff ratios next I reckon.

    Bigger tyres means you need to add to trip meter reading proportional to difference in rolling dia from factory. This will improve theoretical fuel economy, not make it worse.
