      @@FellowFilmmaker Good, continue doing so. By the way, is there any existing problem with "fan noise?"

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  ปีที่แล้ว

      The noise is the same, I don't think they've improved it. It's noisy to me, but if you're not mic'd near it then you could be fine. I don't think the output on the Godox is great if you need lower power outputs, it's too bright for that.

    What a fantastic review, thank you. I just bought four of these to light a corner of a salon for haircut photos, and so far they’ve been fantastic. We were using strobes before but it was intimidating and confusing for some of the stylists to get to know them, but using these continuous lights we’re able to set the salon camera to aperture priority and let stylists just point and shoot- or they can easily shoot haircut photos and videos with their phone if they don’t want to figure out the DSLR.

    You're bringing some fresh air to the youtube filmmaker community! Thanks for starting this channel. Keep on making videos. I've been doing this for a while now and really learned a lot from different channels like Gerald but yours is really different (which is better than better) and you have a lot of energy. Maybe we should talk at some point to share some of the experiences how an efficient youtube video workflow looks like. I've worked on mine (doing this as a side hustle) for about two years and would like to share it but not on my channel because that's about 3D printing. But maybe this audience would be interested if we talk about it?

For the amazing price, I may go ahead and get an SL-60W and then put the VL 150 on my wish list for when a well paying job requires a nice two or three light setup. I have just purchased one of these for 100 dollars (!!!) to start phasing out my clunky/dangerous tungsten lights! I will eventually purchase another, and top it off with the sl160 which should take care of all shoots. One issue I ran into with my tungsten lights are the extreme power requirements (1300 watts Max output) which required special stinger cords for extension. Because the cost of one these lights are equivalent to one cable, I figured it wasn’t worth investing in a tungsten workflow. I’m super excited to be able to move lights around without needing to worry about a bulb exploding 😆 also won’t need to preface with a disclaimer about this when asking a location to shoot inside.

      True. Its because it's the question I get asked most, how does it compare to aputure. Never get asked how it compares to nanlite or many others.

    Did your newer light come with that orange handle knot? Also i've noticed that now SL-60w specs says (on amazon at least) that it's CRI >95. Is that upgrade for newer version as well?

    Heather, great videos. Really appreciate the information. Question: I shoot mostly interior RE video tours, do you recommend getting the Tungsten version of this light? Or going with the Daylight version and adjusting in camera white balance or in post? LMK and thanks in advance.

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on if the locations you are typically shooting in have lights you can control as well or not. If most of the time they are tungsten then you could look at the tungsten version. However I think having daylight is best if you're in a multitude of situations since you can change daylight to tungsten with gels.

    Thank you for the informative video. What would be the most ideal lantern softbox size for sl60w? After watching this I'm thinking of buying 2+ of these for two-person interview/how-to videos (indoor) and I'm afraid that buying anything over 30" would just be too big for these at 60w.

    the very specific question I have with light dome is: how the differences in shape and size change the light ? Not only the diameters but the length like how much longer some dome are compared to others, what is it doing ?

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A longer shaped dome will allow for more flattering diffusion on a subject. A shorter one will be more harsh. That is my understanding of it anyway. :D Hope it helps

    7:15 The point needed to be discussed, daylight LED tubelights/bulbs are 6500k which produces whiter light. What do you consider better daylight as a filmaker?
    Upon comparing 6500k vs 5500k (godox) this light seems to be warmer! OR is this the ideal daylight range? any help!

    • @FellowFilmmaker
      @FellowFilmmaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This light does not run true 5600K, even though it says it does. I find it does run warmer, which I tend to adjust for. However, since I don't use this light as my keylight I'm often adjusting for my keylight which is more accurately 5600K. I like the look that true 5600k gives when it is accurate. :D Hope that helps a bit

    • @baalvachan
      @baalvachan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FellowFilmmaker great to know, was bit confusion, when seen on other reviewers it seems to be as white as daylight LED bulbs in color tone but may be it is due to softboxes!! just a guess.

      @FellowFilmmaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There certainly is a multitude of possibilities! :p

    • @baalvachan
      @baalvachan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FellowFilmmaker I analyzed running 6500k on one side and godox 5600k on other side makes godox output even more warmer/yellowish and Led bulbs output appears to be with more green undertone. But using only godox alone seems to be neutral white. I think it was due to clash between the two lights.
      Only add on is - not to use both lights at the same time.
