    I have the old SL 60W and still use it as my key light. It's STILL boss! Never had any issues with it and it lights my mini studio perfectly. I'm now working in a smaller space and need to get a smaller softbox for it though.

    Did I witness a Sony ZV-E10 'product showcase' shot in this video (04:37)? LOL! Anyways, thanks for letting me know about this new offering from Godox. I learned it from you. Now I'll definitely be upgrading from my current SL60W (which just like you, still serves me well).

    Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. When you have a product that you're showcasing that you have had for years (as in the case for your old SL60W) do you find that you have to scrub it a bit before putting it on camera? Here in the desert, no matter how clean you keep a room, things will almost certainly accumulate dust even when you're using them regularly. I just wondered if it's the same up there.

    I have the new bicolor version of this light, and just ordered the daylight version. The light quality is very good on the bicolor, so I don't doubt the daylight will be equally good. They work really great with the original issue Joel Grimes soft Beauty Dish--nice contrast. I have Bowens strobes (love them), so I have literally every modifier I could ever want to use with these. So, for me they're great lights for knocking out some quick shots, when I don't want to bother with metering, hooking up radios, etc. Cannot complain about the price a bit. Great value.

    Thanks for the heads up.
    I have the first model of the SL60W and it has a geared yolk. Originally, I bought one that did not have the geared yolk. It might have been a 3rd party model. But, the first one I had had the plastic yolk with no gears. I wrote the manufacturer after returning mine because the yoke could not handle the weight of my Aputure soft box.
    A few months later, they sent me the upgraded model that had a metal geared yoke - free of charge. I'm not sure if it was Godox, but, it had the same name (SL60W) and font on the side of the light. It's disappointing that the new one does not have a geared yoke though. What soft box did you use?

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as I know the Godox SL60W never had the metal yolk. it’s always had this same plastic handle. Godox does have several lights with similar names though. I am using a 55cm smallrig softbox

    Good that they made it smaller but sad they could not eliminate fan noise. I agree new fan sounds much nicer to my ears. For a budget TH-cam studio it's a no brainer. Most TH-cam content creators sit close to the light so 60w is plenty!

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use constant light like this one for photography, but a lot of photographers prefer flash because it can generally give a higher burst of power. Godox does make a combo light that can be continuous and also a flash - but that is definitely not the norm

    • @swansaudio
      @swansaudio 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MarkBennettCameraCrisis in other words continued lighting can be both used, flash only for photo , mixed weird compromise?! I'm looking, probably, continuous cuz planning videos (slog without lights looks bad) ,but also portraits some times... And I believe it should be portable somehow

    Oh hi Mark! One more question: I'm an aspiring travel vlogger (not on this channel tho), and I'm thinking: Do I really need a studio light?
    Because oftentimes I feel like I don't, as the natural light or my desk light pointing at me usually (as to my eyes anyway) is doing a good enough job lighting my face, as in it looks good enough for me. Will people even recognize/appreciate me having professional grade studio lights?

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis

      start small. Get the ZV-E10 and the Sigma 16mm f1.4. Get the Comica VM 20 for your mic. For lighting inside get the small rig rc120D and a soft box. That will be enough to start for sure.

      You can definitely use just one. A lot of people (like me) want a second light to fill in shadows on one side of the face, but many TH-camrs just use one light with a soft box. But start with one and take it from there

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do like the prices of the Colbor for sure - and I am a big fan of Moman (the company that makes Colbor) but there is a lot to consider with lights. Color cast or shifts over time being a big one. Hopefully the quality with the Colbor lights holds up over time - but I have full confidence in Godox. I would (and do) buy Godox when it comes to the lower priced lights because of the consistent quality. I'm not saying that Colbor is a lesser quality, but we just haven't had enough time with them. As the months go by, if they hold up - I will probably recommend Colbor as well as great bang for buck.
