      Honestly did you watched it? Because most of your plot holes (and other problems) are explained or can be explained using little bit of time and clues they gave use(if we think). While actual plot holes are missed. Also, you really should be little realistic. You want to have every agent have some personality showing moments or something? (Clothes not, they are in work) Like how long do you think is episode of DW? And how much work it takes to made? Ho much do they paid them(honestly don't know, but probably not enough for writing background for everyone who appear on screen for 2 minutes+-). Honestly it looks like you are making up holes, that trying to find them.

    One of my favourite scenes.
    Doctor: *giddee and chatty - sits down with head in hands* “what?! A mysterious summons you think I’m just going to go? Who sent those messages. Don’t play games with me, don’t ever ever think your capable of that. Nooooow, I love a bad guuuurrrlll me, but trust you?.... seriously?”
    Honestly, it’s such a bone chilling dialogue delivery. Matt Smith was very passive aggressive and delivered some really cold and intimidating lines of dialogue. Love it.

    The God Complex is my favourite episode from this season. I like seeing the Doctors dark side of hating David Walliams, the nurse character was great, the idea of the fears being generated and the monster replacing your faith was fantastic. It could’ve been as good as Midnight but it kinda falters in some places. But still, best episode of the season!

I think the densest thing in the universe period is the core of a neutron star, which... uh. I really enjoyed most of Series Five, up to but not including The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang. Seriously, if the only way you can get out of your messy and over-complicated story is to blow up the universe... geez... for me, this was the beginning of what I call Uber-Moffat, where he just can't stop over-plotting his stories, using the companions as pieces of a puzzle instead of using them like the human being they are. Hence, this is why I rather really enjoy the one-off stories like Amy's Choice, Night Terrors and The God Complex. Kind of interesting, though, when you realize that The Doctor is hanging out with Rory, Amy and River in 1969 while at the same time The Doctor is with Martha in 1969.

    The line about the lights never being fixed is actually a rather subtle hint that I think, even for Doctor Who standards, is really clever
    people cant remember the Silence, but they can remember the physical impact they have on their surroundings, meaning people would remember the flickering lights caused by the Silence's presence, and the fact that those flickering lights have supposedly been around for long enough to become something that's poked fun at hints towards the fact that the Silence had been pulling strings for *generations*, not being a new presence on the planet
    writing that off as just a poorly written one-off line is kinda sad, but it is funny seeing a mostly Doctor Who centric channel miss a hint like that, just shows that the series always had clever writing and plenty of tricks up it's sleeves

    These episodes still makes me question when Amy was replaced. Was it during the bathtroom? Could it have been during the 3 month gap? Hell, when she went into that room with the silence originally did they replace her then and that's why she was allowed to walk free, only being caught later to keep up the charade.

    Weird how Series 6 starts after the beginning of Torchwood Series 4 and yet neither Amy or Rory mentioned the fact that the entirety of Humanity had become immortal during 'Miracle Day' at all off screen. Surely it's something that the Doctor would want/need to know about.

    • @LabradorIndependent
      @LabradorIndependent 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would imagine since RTD and Chibnall were the creative voices behind Torchwood, while Moffat was two seasons into his own Doctor Who run, he probably wasn't that interested in tying the events in. Earlier seasons of Torchwood and Who were all helmed by RTD, which explains why they were so interconnected.

      @@LabradorIndependent yeah, but it would be a bit weird that they'd never mention it from an in-universe perspective as in the timeframe between the episodes at the start and end of the series break they just got dumped back on Earth in the middle of it all.

      In my head canon, Miracle Day takes place after series 6. It's the only way to make sense of it. The Doctor is presumed dead throughout the universe, and Amy and Rory don't see him for well over a year. Its place in the timeline is my biggest contention with MD, because despite all its flaws, I still enjoy it. Though some coordination between Moffat and Davies would have been appreciated

    • @owenhayes2837

    • @Jedi_Spartan
      @Jedi_Spartan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@owenhayes2837 Technically it's listed as 2011/release of series, same as Series 6 (since the 'modern day' episodes backtracked in line with reality either during the Tennant Specials or Series 5). As for Children of Earth, maybe that was never mentioned since the events only lasted 5 days a few months after the Daleks tried to destroy Reality so maybe the Doctor wanted some distance from present day Earth and just activated Do Not Disturb on the TARDIS... but Series 10 means he had no excuse for not intervening.

    the doctor explains early on that the silence were controlling humanity through post hypnotic suggestion, so humanity would forget the silence but they would remember the order to kill the silence whenever they saw them, so every time a human watched that clip on the internet they would receive the order, the doctor’s plan was meant to work over generations, not just at the time of the event

    I hate this season, and these episodes in particular. It's complete nonsense is what it is. So you're telling me that the silents have been there throughout the whole history of earth, but the doctor hasn't ever noticed anything. The moon-landing thing is just so silly when you think about the mechanics of it. The silents that people kill under the order leave bodies right? The creature design is cool, but it would've been much better as a one off monster of the week. And oh my god, the silents have space travel tech, but they decide to manipulate the humanity to go to the moon so that they can build a space suit for them so that they can use it as basically a diving suit. Are you fucking serious??

    What bothers me is that the episodes never even explain why the silence have to leave in the first place. Killing that random innocent woman in the bathroom was such awful writing.

      Moffat really is a short story writer along the lines of Lovecraft. He creates bizarrely immersive imagery such as the astronaut in the lake or the Silence on the ceiling but doesn’t have the talent to adequately explore it. Every time he opens strongly, he spectacularly fails to stick the landing. He should be humble enough to write the first part and hand off the second part for another writer to resolve.

    I can't properly articulate my argument as to why i disagree with your assessment of their relationship as shown in this two parter, but it boils down to rory loves Amy to the point that upon hearing that she was hiding a potential child even though "he's always wanted kids" his first reaction is "silly goose I'm a nurse i could have helped you" rather than the cliche "rawr you hide baby me so angry" that i guess you expected? I admit i never quite understood that reaction except for in a "fornication friend" relationship,.
