    Doctor Who was meant to be revived by David Tennant and Russel T Davies to lead into Ncuti Gatwa's run. Well that didn't work. After 3 specials that showcased what we are in for in the future, not many will be looking forwards to the future. An eye opening run that surprised even me at how blunt the BBC were willing to be, we added on terrible plots just to put the icing on the cake. But don't worry, we're still running the articles and slurs that you would expect from modern entertainment. And rather than resurrecting the series in 3 specials, we've put so many nails into the IP, it doesn't matter if its resurrected in the future, you can't escape from this. But what do you think? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

    I worked at a nightclub while I was in college and it was a pretty standard nightclub; pay to get in, overpriced drinks, loud club music. That last part was key; club music. Top 40, dance music, some hip hop.
    New manager came in and decided that “club music” wasn’t what this club needed and he told the DJ to start playing, for lack of a better term, tribal music.
    The club was dead within 2 weeks and the new manager didn’t understand why no one was coming to the club anymore.
    Same situation here, the “new management” changed a core element of why people enjoyed Doctor Who and is now standing there going, “I did good. Right?”

    Gatwa seriously said “only really one demographic of people” are able to “walk into unknown situations and take charge with authority” and “it’s certainly not a woman, and it’s certainly not someone black.”
    I think that says everything we need to know.

    • @scepteredisle
      @scepteredisle ปีที่แล้ว +78

      How is a black doctor going to do anything in literally 99% of the historical locations they're gonna visit - mostly cause of budget restraints. A moot point I guess, seeing as this episode was designed to finish the Dr Who story. The real Dr Who got his happy ending and the story is over. Gatwa is an alt-Doctor with a different franchise. It's done now.

Donna was super self-absorbed and hated anything that pushed her out of her bubble. Right here goes, I grew up watching the Great Tom Baker as the Dr and what made it great was the shows commitment to the story. The show may have had cheap effects and such but it had a load of great actor's who would bring everything to life.
    The old Dr Who was a side show for the nerds and geeks and no one cared about us. Now the Wokkies have destroyed all the nerd and geek culture. This is why so many of us are looking overseas for our entertainment even more than usual.

      I just want to see where the live viewing figures are after Ngayti's full first season. As it will be clear by then its only for gay people and Twitter nutjobs. How big is that audience going to be? The BBC just axed Question of Sport, because it was getting low ratings. It had dropped to below a million viewers. It used to get 4 - 5 million viewers just three or so years ago, but they axed the presenting team to make it more woke and shake it up...They did that so well the audience left and now its done. I await the ending of the Ngayti Gaywa season and its audience figures with great interest.

    Since 2005 I honestly don't get why people thought RTD was a talented writer. A lot of the success of the comeback came from the established concept of Dr Who created by his predecessors, combined with the desire from the public to see that institution back on TV. RTD's scripts had crass, crude innuendo, sexual jokes, soap opera dialogue, companions lusting after the Doctor, villains who all sing and dance in a flamboyant way that they never did in classic Who. That's NOT who the Toymaker or Master is.

    • @marychocolatefairy

      I always thought the strongest part of RTD's era was the visual part of the show - they were able to update the show's look to make it visually appealing to a 2005 audience but still keep its essence. But yeah, I wasn't a big fan of some of his writing choices, such as inflating the importance of the Companions. I remember he annoyed some fans in the lead up to the 2005 debut by saying he was going to fix the Companions and give them a feminist makeover. So naturally a lot of old school fans were wondering what was wrong with Liz Shaw, Jo, Sarah Jane, etc.

    I was just about ready to argue that, by RTD's logic, that means there are sixteen or seventeen Doctors now wandering across time and space? Minimum, then there's however many regenerations the Timeless Child created... and then I went, "Hang on! Every regeneration of the Doctor is right there! In David Tennant! He doesn't leave a body behind when he 'dies', he reuses the energy of his previous form to build a new one!" So, Ncuti (Sho-tee) is a new creation and most definitely NOT the doctor., since Tennant is still alive. Really quick slap dash fix? He's the new Master, with a heaping helping of the Toymaker having jump started his new existence. Boom, go from there, off and running, since he has a Tardis of his own...
    Pretty sure RTD wanted Ncuti's BBC, and that's why he only had to audition 'once'...
