  • Doctor Who Returned with David Tennent and Ncuti Gatwa doing 3 specials with Russel T Davies for the BBC and Disney. But these Christmas specials were not any normal Doctor Who regeneration, these were Russel T Davies new Doctor Who meant for a modern audience. Complete with talking points and storylines custom designed for a modern world. Did this help Doctor Who, or was Christopher Eccleston right not to return with David Tennant?

Doctor Who was meant to be revived by David Tennant and Russel T Davies to lead into Ncuti Gatwa's run. Well that didn't work. After 3 specials that showcased what we are in for in the future, not many will be looking forwards to the future. An eye opening run that surprised even me at how blunt the BBC were willing to be, we added on terrible plots just to put the icing on the cake. But don't worry, we're still running the articles and slurs that you would expect from modern entertainment. And rather than resurrecting the series in 3 specials, we've put so many nails into the IP, it doesn't matter if its resurrected in the future, you can't escape from this. But what do you think? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

I worked at a nightclub while I was in college and it was a pretty standard nightclub; pay to get in, overpriced drinks, loud club music. That last part was key; club music. Top 40, dance music, some hip hop.
New manager came in and decided that “club music” wasn’t what this club needed and he told the DJ to start playing, for lack of a better term, tribal music.
The club was dead within 2 weeks and the new manager didn’t understand why no one was coming to the club anymore.
Same situation here, the “new management” changed a core element of why people enjoyed Doctor Who and is now standing there going, “I did good. Right?”

Donna was super self-absorbed and hated anything that pushed her out of her bubble. A great story would have been they never figure out what was going on until they failed, only they don't fail. You have the companions bemoaning how the world will now be so much worse for the Doctor to tell them to take heart. "Because true movements can't be stopped, at most delayed, and only by a little." You then she her rush across the street to alert an older African American lady who has left her purse on the bench at the bus stop. She thanks the Doctor for making sure she has it when the bus driver calls out, "Come on now, Miss Rosa. Can't be holding up the line too long."
Take your L and move on.

I wonder if RTD thought the still living Doctor actors would be ecstatic at the opportunity to come back in future episodes, but never expected for one of them to shoot him down.

The emnity between RTD and Eccleston is well known. That's why Eccleston left the show in the first place. I doubt that he had any expectations to get him back. Jodie will probably make an appearance, but I would be highly surprised if Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi would come back.

Capaldi was under a contract. He couldn't just tell them to piss off and not do Season 10. He quite explicitly said on camera that he wants to leave his tenure as The Doctor as it is and not change it, so he won't be returning. As for Smith, who knows. @@fictiontheorizer4253

Whether they are or aren't, the point is that they took such a ridiculous, dignity-stealing picture. RTD wanted to look like a sugar daddy showing off a boy toy, wanted to emphasize that he was taller than an extremely short man, and wanted to look like he was doing a casting couch thing.
A dignified photo would have showed them looking professional.

Ever since about halfway through Capaldi, I knew the show was going down. More and more episodes that I had to re-watch not because I'd pick up on tidbits I missed from the first go around, but to even understand the premise of the episode that was simply not explained. I was already checked out from the new episodes by this point. Then came Wittaker... her entire run I kept thinking "how could this possibly keep getting worse"
How does this keep getting worse. The bar is in hell. "Stop! Stop!! He's already dead..."

I was just about ready to argue that, by RTD's logic, that means there are sixteen or seventeen Doctors now wandering across time and space? Minimum, then there's however many regenerations the Timeless Child created... and then I went, "Hang on! Every regeneration of the Doctor is right there! In David Tennant! He doesn't leave a body behind when he 'dies', he reuses the energy of his previous form to build a new one!" So, Ncuti (Sho-tee) is a new creation and most definitely NOT the doctor., since Tennant is still alive. Really quick slap dash fix? He's the new Master, with a heaping helping of the Toymaker having jump started his new existence. Boom, go from there, off and running, since he has a Tardis of his own...
Pretty sure RTD wanted Ncuti's BBC, and that's why he only had to audition 'once'...
