Personally I prefer the bottom and top bezels because for me it gives me a surface area to grip without touching the the display which at times causes me to interfere with what I am watching, working on, etc.
Drazen Tor same i do like the new design don't get me wrong but as for now if I can choose between 2 same or similar performance and specs phone with one with bezels on top and bottom and the others almost bezel-less i would pick the bezel one as for now which is why I'm getting this bad boy 😂

Yup, fully agree....I had the s8 as of two days ago, and at first I liked the looks, but i soon found out that "infinity" display had its downsides. It becomes cumbersome to handle because you easily tap something on the edge. It took away functionality over looks...and now I won't go any of those edge to edge rounded displays. I think this phone is rounded a bit, but at least it has some amount of thickness to hold.

The bezels are much more reduced this time. The XA2 is smaller than before with a bigger screen and in hands it's clearly not shocking at all.
I don't care if sony not good. I still love it.
Who the f said Sony is not good? Sony has great sofftware and hardware. They might not push the boundaries but they are solid.

2:14 Sony already had the fingerprint sensor but because of apple patents registered in the US it could not be sold in your market with the sensor since it was placed sideways where there is the on / off button
PhoneArena I have question bro. Are both Xperia XA2 and XA2 Ultra using the same exact micro-chip fingerprint sensor component part? Because all the fingerprint sensor's part number/ shows in eBay sellers of that both XA2 & XA2 Ultra have the same part number as SDG-M FAM2C30004F-B1-S, same references and they are exactly the same the way it built, location of sensor, position of every designed part and contour of flex cable. I'm talking about when the fingerprint sensor in the phone became not responding of detection (defective/malfunction) we have to change/replace a new fingerprint sensor then buy either in dealer stores or in eBay. Because I want to change/replace a defective (not working) and buy a new replacement in eBay. Sellers in eBay was knew it's different except the other seller told me not. There are only two sellers selling in China sells in the right fair low price but almost running out of stock in fingerprint sensor for XA2 Ultra while in the XA2 model still have more fingerprint sensor.
So, double triple inquiry, is that means...does it work in both model XA2 and XA2 Ultra that seems using the same exact micro-chip fingerprint sensor component part? So that's my question in very first sentence & last. Let me know first...I'm waiting...

Water resistance for a midrange? If I'm buying a midrange phone, I'm not expecting that. Hell, the water/dust resistance strength decreases over time with modern use. I'd prefer a case.

SpitSomeThinGood two exceptions to the rule. But in the mid-range space, you don't see that. There were hundreds of mid-rangers released and they were the only 2. But to take points off for not expecting water resistance is stupid. How many people are near bodies of water such that they even need that?
It's splash proof though, I think it's enough.

Just picked up a very great conditioned xperia xa2 for $100 on offerup app.
Definitely worth it, and at that price point I'm beyond happy 😊
picked up the XA2 ultra recently and i love it. everyone comments on how great my photos are now and i can actually enjoy the youtube app now.
2 things - 1) get a case you will drop it ALOT especially if you wear basketball shorts or track pants often, its huge and just won't stay in your pocket. 2) its F*$&ING HUGE! i have 10.5 inch hands and i can't reach across the screen with one hand, and when i try my palm touches the bottom corner so i have to readjust all the time. if you want to get this phone, get a pop socket, they're ugly AF but functional with this phone - enjoy.

I just got this phone. My only complaint is that the ram seems to make multitasking hard even though I could multitask just fine on my s7? Maybe its just bad ram management though.
The camera performance is great I guess but I do not like the positioning of the camera in the center. I don't even take pictures but the over look around my phone in appearance...bad. I like the camera lense on the top left side when it look at the back...

Waiting for the xz2 premium tbh the xa2 ultra is the one that got my eyes because of the front dual cameras so I expect dual front and dual back cameras on xz2 premium maybe also less bezels (maybe).
The bottom bezels let you hold the phone one the bottom without activating apps. Like holding a polaroid photo.
And here I am with my z1 and my m4 aqua. I wish the xa2 ultra had all those specs in the size of the xa2.
I don't get why the xa2 has wireless charging and on the ultra it's omitted. Why?!
XA2 seems like a very good option, but I would say that XA2 Ultra is a bit overpriced + both of them should have some sort of water resistance and XA2 should have 4GB of RAM but I still really like the XA2 😎
The Sony rep in a chat said (confirmed), that the back of the XA1 is *METAL* not plastic like the Ultra. I can tell you it *DOES* feel different, but that is in part due to it being a smaller size piece on the back. If it *IS* plastic like the Ultra, it still feels premium & I would disagree it feels like plastic.
The water *RESISTANCE* on any phone is near worthless. I mean, I've never ruined a phone due to taking on water. It's just the "sizzle" that helps manufacturers sell their product. I mean, where else do phones go in the coming years anyways? What's to add? If they're not packing enuf goodies to date, nothing will make you happy.
And a review is just that...one man's opinion. Ha...just watched another review by s/one, and he thought the pricing was a bit too *HIGH* :) Pricing is a good bit lower on the phones however, with the XA2 priced at $319 and the Ultra @ just $399.
I laugh at those who have to rush out (and *SOME* fools stand in line!!!), to get the next, the newest, the bestest, the GREATEST, the faaaaaaastest, phone every year. Some people are living for the wrong things is all I can surmise *SMH*

I live in the U.S. and as of today,(April/2018) Verizon has Sony X series phones on their CDMA system.
Just bought it 4 days ago and I'm completely satisfied. Battery is such a beast. Display is great.
The only problem is the camera, I can't understand why they can't make it more stable, to think they're the one supplying other brands for camera and have better shots 🙄

Xa2 ultra is not big at all, to me atleast. Many people tell me that my phone is huge but I have huge hands so I can actually reach around it like a normal phone

Not a bad phone at all. Definitely not bad for $200 at Best buy in corpus Christi Texas. Previously had an iPhone x that got ran over, long story and needed something good until I have enough cash to get a new X. Good job Sony!
Sony has made several phones with fingerprint scanners, from what i heard they mostly only work in Europe though for some reason...

the bad part is the fingerprint scanner being the same material as the phone back making it easier to scratch and get messed up, the design is clearly the same as the xa1 and and xa1 ultra except the xa2's are "looped" to make an illusion thinking its more curved, im staying with the xa1 ultra, I like it more, its thinner and true to the old look,
I bought the XA2 Ultra, i dunno what the fuss is all about its not much heavy or gigantic at all and i can even use it with one hand as well. The way the video shots were taken portray it as a huge massive beast as well. Not its not. 6 inches is normal.
You forgot to review the audio quality (headphones)
I bought XA2 Ultra few days ago but not impressed by 6' HD display with low pixels ratio also photos are not sharp either most of the time edges are noisy or blurred.

The Moto X4 has bezels of the same (if not bigger) size as the XA2, and is ~$25 more expensive.
The Samsung A8 is ~$70 more expensive.
edit: And the Oneplus 5T is ~$220 more expensive.
The Sony after a year or close to a year the phone starts to have hardware trouble. I have ultra xa and xa1 both gave me trouble in hardware to battery and the lcd screen but under warranty Sony is kind enough to replace item. I like the Sony but unreliable.... But luckily under warranty I was able to get the tech center to fix the item.
Wish they had kept the fingerprint reader on the side just like their previous models. It looks much better

But only problem is the slow charging speed in Sony flagships & in mid rangers as well
I sold my sony xzp( which was a great performer) , just cuz of slow charging speed even after disabling battery care option & even with Q. C 3 with USB Type C 3.0 cable
It took 2 hours & 30 minutes to charge from 0% to 100% which really is very irritating

Dude, really we dont care about your battery proprietary test, just tell us the SCREEN ON TIME, thats what people want to know, if you really used the phone for a couple of days, or you just made the review without using it.
