I stick to my XA1, much better design and size. You feel the thickness of the new one. XA1 much brighter screen too, resolution not a problem, good cámara, great battery life. Got the gold version so pretty elegant. Y did prefer the speaker in the xa2.
I read that they both have the same brightness in nits.I noticed that the XA 2 had auto bright. set on.Think that made a difference?Anyone have a problem with dim screen on XA 2?
The Sony XA2 video camera can record in slow motion but the XA1 can't? Is that correct. With the XA1 if it cannot record in slow motion can you later put videos in to slow motion with editing software? Video quality wise even though XA2 is higher spec the quality difference with XA1 is very minor from comparison footage I've seen, is that accurate? Deciding between XA1 and XA2 to buy and good video camera is a definite must for me but XA1 is lot cheaper so if only minor improvement in quality I'll go for XA1. Thanks for help!

I don't have the aforementioned audio quality issues - in fact, there is a sound-enhancing technology in the device for headphones which works okay. There seems to be inferior audio quality in terms of recording sound (it is a bit muffled), however, or it might be just the microphone on my unit.
Now the xa1 already updated to oreo. And looking by desain, i choose xa1 more than xa2. The side finger print is sony signature. Xa2 now she looks like xiaomi. And looking xz2, it's sad that sony starting to follow the mainstream desain.

We need those two front facing speakers Sony! it looks like it only has one speaker?? Sucks! AND SONY NEEDS TO CONTINUE TO KEEP THAT GORGEOUS 4K LCD SCREEN!! Amoled is overrated! Samsung already uses Sony's cameras, so somewhat Sony already has the game on lock! I think Samsung is losing sales because they over-saturate Sony's cameras too much!
I ended up buying the Black before seeing either in person. I finally saw the Silver in person and it looks pretty sharp. Things to consider is if you get a case they usually only come in black and if you plan to resell it later, black would probably be easier. If I had to do it again though, I would probably give the Silver a chance.
Terrible lighting, have to up my phone brightness 80% just to see the damn phones. Your phones are in the dark while your background has too much light. Shine some light on the phone FFS!
I think not, it has similar speed of the xperia z5 (quite fast). I don't know about you but it seems like they used the same camera on the xa2 as on the z5. Well, looks good! :D
Nokia is slow when compared to Sony. Software on sony phones are fast and clean. Same spec = Sony win. Of course if Nokia offers better hardware, then go for it
Xa1 has touchscreen problem. I sent it to warranty, they changed the screen but it came broken. I sent it back to sony warranty. This time they wanted money to repair my phone. I'm so angry about that. They sent broken phone to me and they want money. I won't buy any Sony from now on. Until now, I used 7 sony phones and I was a sony lover. But thats enough...
It's kind of a late reply, but I had the same exact problem, the only difference being that I had to return mine 3 times (the warnity covered it) ! Big disappointment.
AND IF SONY CAN DROP THE PRICE TO THE ROUND $500 OR LESS, b/c they don't need wireless charging, water resistant, phone card scanner at grocery checkouts! None of that! Although these things extra are safe to have. We don't care as a consumer. Are people too lazy now a days to take their debit card out their wallets! What is this world coming too! Lift your hand consumers!

TheRussianLondoner, you are exaggerating 😁 75% SBR (screen to body ratio) in XA2 is competitive in comparison to other midrangers and it has improved, I just would say that it lacks water resistance, but in general it is a good phone :) this year they have some bigger changes in plans and you would be correct, if you would have said this after the release of XZ1 lineup, but now we can see a shift in SBR with the regular XA2 + Sony's new flagship should have a bigger change

It's a shame that the XAs aren't water resistant and lack slo-mo camera.
That was a very nice video. XA2 wins hands-on over xa1. One suggestion, your audio could have been better.

I have the XA2 a very fair phone but the camera is terrible. I mean i have been using it for two weeks but didnt manage to get a crisp picture yet.

Having been fool enough to acquire an XA1, I am not going to even consider an XA2. The XA1 is a total piece of garbage. Shame on Sony.
I had the XA1 for 8 months before it shut down and died. I got a Samsung galaxy which is amazing. I wouldn't reccomend the Sony xperia
