To say 1080p on a 6 inch screen is not sharp is ridiculous. It is more than sharp enough and clear enough. Everyone complains and wants 4K on cell phones. There is no need for 4K on cell phones. When phones have 4K then you complain about battery life.
Donald Hannah i know right, since i got a nintendo switch that it s around 8 inch, hd resolution and looks damn gorgeous, im not interested anymore in displays higher than full hd on phones. Beyond that it feels like a minus because you could get alot better battery life on fullhd res
Xperia premium don't run on "native 4K" to begin with. It's run on native 1080p most of time, the only time when you'll see 4K is the content that supports it. Other than that, it runs 1080p because it want to save battery life.
Shellyman Studios exactly having the 4k option is great but keep it 1080p native sony made a great jop with the xzp the battery was good at first but after the oreo update it lasted the whole day And i am a heavy user
I would be fine with a 720p resolution on a 6 inch screen. xD
I use 27" monitors with FHD for web design and graphics work. I don't need 4k on a 6" phone.
Sony the only manufacturer who doesn't give a F about notch, good job Sony, my next upgrade from XA1 ultra

It's good to see there is a headphone jack unlike the XZ2.
Review The Cheapest I always thought Sony will be the last big brand to still hold on to the jack. I guess I was wrong...
I like this design more then the Xz2 ... sigh ... All they had to do was shrinking the bezels.
I wish y'all would get over headphone jacks already, it's a dying breed and tbh when you use a phone without one, you won't miss it

perhaps but all the previous xperia z phones had 5pin 3.5mm headphone jack with support for digital noise cancelling and hd music files .. and they may have a usbc adapter to 5 pin jack converter .. but as someone who uses their phone mosty as a music player it's nice to have the word wide option of a headphone jack as you can pick up a set of compatible headphones anywhere i carry a set of jack earbuds as spares incase my bluetooth headphones run out of juce . i want my new technology with more features but i also want backwards compatibility until everything has the new tech ,, its also the reason i stay away from products that only use their own proprietary chargers and accessories .. if it aint broke don't fix it

Yes I have this phone I love it
I moved a while ago from the S7 to the Xperia XA1 Ultra and my next phone for sure is going to be this or something else similar that Sony puts out. No hate towards samsung but I'm getting the same quality + better battery life in a $400 phone than I would in a $800 samsung or $1100 iphone.

This phone made me regain my faith on Sony after the XZ2 reveal
Personally I like the no side but top and bottom bezel design better than just complete screen. To me movies and games just looks and feels cleaner
I have this phone now... I bought it abt 7months ago and I can't say I love it but I def like it a lot. It has some dope features and the 4k ultra picture is amazing. Especially if u don't have a 4k ultra tv. The multi-tasking functions are crazy tho. Watch TH-cam.. While surfing FB and writing a txt msg simultaneously. The camera is really good too.. All around i give it 8 out of 10. My fav phones are the Sony Xperia Z ultra and samsung Mega just for comparisons sake

How is the phone doing ? I am considering buying one for my wife , she has to have 16:9 ratio and 6 inch display . I have looked around and the 16:9 ratio is getting hard to find in a newer device , we are both on cricket wireless and it rocks . I still use a Nexus 6 , the front facing speakers , 6 inch and 16:9 ratio makes it a very good device for me , thanks.
I used to buy sony phones and I had bad experience. They tend to have dead pixels on the top right corner and it happened to me twice. I want to ask if you experience or had same problem? Also, is it with gorilla glass?

I have samsung midrange phone with 6 inch 1080p display. To be honest, 1080p display on a smartphone is perfectly fine and I don't have any complain about sharpness. So I don't see the bad thing about the resolution
Hafidz Zakaria right? Mines 1140p but 1080p is more then enough. It's better for battery and more then enough resolution. I really want a option to lower the resolution to 1080 to save battery.
Dean Innes yeah my phone have 4000 mah battery and combine it with 1080p screen, really makes my phone last longer compared to flagship phone

Had this phone for a while now and the speaker is mega loud! You don't need speakers lol and battery life lasts me all day even on constant usage I highly recommend this product

Got dual SIM + micro SD, hybrid SIM? Also, got gyroscope?
My Second one. Searched for a new phone and the Sony xa2 Ultra fit the requirements; Large screen, 16:9 aspect, reasonable fast, fairly current Android release. Got a one in November and lost it. Searched phones again. Bought another xa2 Ultra. Great phone. I get 2 to 3 days of battery life.
Do you think the battery is good for heavy gaming?
I just got the XA2 Ultra last week at Best Buy open box for $284.00. Don't sleep on open box, the phone had no exterior issues and looked good as new. I also got the XA Ultra and XA1 Ultra from Best Buy open box. ✌😎

I'm using it now and I love it!! I mean I always love Sony since it were Sony Ericsson and always be my choice, but recently it's hard to find Xperia here in offline store, I need to buy it online and that's what I did because I've already wait for this phone since last year. The news came too fast I guess. All in all, Sony is always awesome!

Have you tested the camera using 8MP or 10 MP....when downgraded to 5 or 8 or 10 MP the sony phone's will take amazing pics which is better than other falgshipa
I have no problem with bezels. Would love to see Sony keep the headphone jack in their top flagship phone along with dual front facing speakers, upgrade the cameras along with their 'processor(s?) and storage. I saw where Sony put their fingerprint scanner on the XZ2 - ick. I believe overall Sony does a decent job and looking forward to the XZ2 Pro to see if they clean up the XZ2. Thank you.
When Sony uses the bottom bezel for hard buttons I will definitely buy one..

I would pick bezels, never cared about them. I even like those Sony bezels! It is more comfortable to hold a phone that way. However, the price tag made me choose xiaomi mi a1 😠

Yes and it's not hybrid so you can use 2 sim with SD card

Nice review, liked the video. Everything u said was so god damn true, but about the price? - c'mon man its Sony, its high quality on both sides - hardware and software. So i'd say the price is fine. I had bad experience with phones the same price so this must be my next phone very soon. Cheers!
This is how the XZ2-series should have looked like. And its a Sony, they can take that price because its quality.

How is the camera compared to samsung galaxy a8 plus?
The only problem with my XA2 is that after about three months my screen sensitivity has gone crazy. I've tried everything to recalibrate it but theirs really nothing you can do other than send the phone back into Sony which I haven't done yet. I don't even touch the screen at times and just the presence of my finger will make the screen jump around or the pull-down continually flutter. Other than that its a great phone.

Just got this for 330, was going to order the MI mix 2 but wouldn't be here till after Xmas, was going to get the Nokia 7.1 but best buy was out settled for this, screen is huge and I prefer the aspect ratio, videos look better then in the 18 by 9 my s8 had, it's a huge phone tho but I have big hands (ladies tall know the procedures) hope it's gets Android pie.

I like how despite those huge top and bottom bezels, they still ditched the front facing speakers. 200IQ move there.
While the XA2 has stereo microphones the left and right microphones are from the back of the phone instead of the front.

I prefer fingerprint sensor on side or front as it is more convenient. We have to pick up the phone to unlock, if it is at back.
HarD TarGeT ya because that takes soooo much energy and time to pick up a 7oz phone and tap your finger on the back for like 1.7 seconds right??....

You forgot to mention that the XA2 Ultra is one of the first phones that not only works with LTE+ but will also display LTE+ when you are using LTE+.
The essential phone showed that when I had it using T-MOBILE.

I have tmo and I have never tried volte but with LTE+ it downloads about twice as fast as normal LTE.
What's the big difference from LTE to LTE+???

I've never seen over 60 Mbps with LTE but with LTE+ I've seen over 200 Mbps and heard it can go much faster.
Does anyone have this phone, so you can tell me does it have any negative sides to it? (not counting the size of the phone, idgaf about that because I'm searching a big-screened phone)
