The best is obviously the Surface Duo with Gamesir X2S controller attachment. You can angle the top screen to your liking, AMOLED screens, and enough power for DS/3DS games upscaled as well as a lot of PS2/WIi/GC era games.
I wouldn't say it's the 'best' and 'obviously'. For instance, the grip on the X2S controller may be fine for my kids, but not my adult hands. Also....look at any folding tablet more than 3 years old - they break down. Plus, this tablet I use was only $150. Because of that, I have extra money in my pocket. So, 'best' and 'obviously' - super subjective.
@@AdamBlue well it's a tablet I use as a daily driver. Playing old vertical shmup games on the go is just a bonus. If you are buying a tablet just for 3ds emulator I guess it's an overkill. You should also take a look on using old surface duo + x2 pro. That's the best ds, 3ds emulator experience I have.
@@badassgenevideos 3DS no, only because the 3D isnt there (I use my double-IPS for that). But, again with the Surface DUO, the price is overkill. Or maybe thats just reflecting of my income level, lol.
@@AdamBlue If we consider a fresh acquisition, a double IPS new3DS XL in near new condition can be extremely expensive if you do not have a direct access to the japanese market (no custom fees).
Hi, great video! I just wanted to let you know that I think you linked a case for the tablet and not the tablet itself. Thank you for all the other provided links! Again, great video!
You can use the Lenovo legion Y700 2023 with that controller without modification. It has USB C at the bottom and can plug in to the controller without issues.
I was thinking that at first - It's also a couple hundred more expensive and overkill for this project. If I'm playing higher-end stuff I just go with the ROG Ally.
@@disolitude it's interesting that there are not many tablets at that size anymore. more options would be nice! I bought the RG Cube from anbernic for DS emulation. When it comes in I'll do a video testing it.
@@sherrygreen5129 I think it could be with the right custom Android operating system Might not be able to upscale anything but these emulators have existed for a while, I'm sure there's decent optimization
Not a bad idea. But dual screen in general is a bad gimmick and just so completely unnecessary fora game to be good let alone playable. Would be better if these game were ported to the e-shop and reworked to remove the second screen and rescaled for the wide screen TVs. Worked with Bayonetta 2
I agree for the most part. But, I love referencing stats and a map on one screen while being able to 'play' on the other. I think there's still something there. And it's interesting to consider how often gamers are multi tasking with screens when playing games anyway. Why not have developers leverage that? It's probably coming soon.
Good question, I could have been more detailed. I'm just using Emulation Station with the Art Book Next Theme. Some of the retro handhelds have this preinstalled, depending on OS.

i though about that, but my arm say no to 11 inch tablet, so i order rg556
a regular sized smartphone do the job well.
You’re voice scratches my brain so good 👌🏽😭
Lol your pfp makes it funnier
can you make a video going in depth about how you personally use retroachievements?
Excellent idea. I'll try to get that done this weekend!
Lenovo y700 have 2 usb c connection. One on side, and one on bottom. So no need for the modification to use with a USB controller vertically.
Sure, but for an extra $200, I'm not that loaded.

@@AdamBlue True. I've been looking for a lower end tabled with a horizontal USB C for DS, SHMUPs and similar, but other than Y700 there are no takers.

@@AdamBlueawesome. Looking forward to seeing how it fares. I feel well be seeing a few vertical dedicated handhelds in a few years.
Does that controller have a retractable USB-C port if I want to use Bluetooth with it instead of wired?
No, this controller does not have bluetooth.
Is there one with a similar grip style that does?
@@kavenoff777 Not yet, but I hope we see more options soon. I bet it will happen. Razer did make a new $150 controller, but it's USB-C too.
How ridiculous looking do you want it?
Yes!
Not much different than playing switch in tate mode!
This on an iPad mini would go so hard
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
The gears are turning, and now I wonder if I can do something similar with a very old Android tablet of mine
Yeah you will have to try it and find out if it’s powerful enough

On this Android tablet at 1:33 what emulator or front-end is that? I've only seen that on Chinese retro handhelds

@@AdamBlue Gotcha, I'm glad then that a home screen I thought was exclusive to JELLOS comes default for EmulationStation
The gamesir x2 bluetooth is better in this Situation without this weird cabek in the back
The Bluetooth causes delay which is why I'm using this controller (and the grips are amazing).
Youre so sick for showing us this build man
I managed to shove a 12 inch m4 ipad into my galileo by opening it up and cutting off the slide distance block. Best gaming handheld I've ever used.
haha awesome!
What’s the emulator for the 3ds?
Wait... With the high quality video I thought you were a major TH-camr!! Nicely doneee!
Thank you! I have a Gundam TH-cam channel that is bigger. I think that's where I got my experience.
