    I would enjoy watching these refurbish videos in a longer format-30 minutes at at time or more. I know you can’t make everyone happy so please know I enjoy them in any length you publish them.

      Why not just do what I suggest at the end of every video? Use the Playlists section on either my www.mainsteam.co.uk website or on TH-cam itself, and watch the video series episodes continuously back to back . . . . .

    I must admit, I am a bit jealous of your beautiful lathe! Very nice...I look forward to someday having a shop-sized lathe for doing minor part fabrication for things. I have always enjoyed both watching and using lathes, my grandpa used to teach me quite a lot about them! Carry on, Keith! Thanks!

    At least with that type of drive belt you can make it a little bit longer. If you do not have enough, you can obtain more.
    Lathe looks brand new. Well Done.

    Keith, Your lathe came out really nice. I have a SouthBend 11" made in 1926 and as you say its past it sell by date but it still usable and good for making small parts.

    The JB Weld turned out very nice, after all. This lathe is beginning to look NEW great job. Yes, the Boxford is looking shabby and is asking for some equal attention.
    All of this keeps you busy, when do you actually get to sleep?
    Great video. ;-)

    Another informative and interesting video Keith. 👍 That T link belting is a great thing where you have awkward access to your belts. Saves you having to remove a shaft to put a continous belt on especially in a marine enviroment. I used it on a small coaster to replace the belts which were driving hydraulic pumps. alternators, etc ... off the main engine. I could never get the tension right as when these belts warmed up they stretched. Adjust them for that then they were too tight when "cold". Of course I don't think your workshop will get as hot as that engine room did. Nor will you be running your lathe 24/7. Just something to bare in mind.
    Anyway keep safe, keep sane and keep posting such great content. 👍👍👍

    Honestly, sometimes I think I check in on these projects just for gratuitous paint-drying (and unpainting) footage. Achievement unlocked.

    Great job! Looks to be a primer filler paint. The enamel primer we use on restoration work is quite thick. Looks quite like your primer.

    I envy your eye for colour. I'm colour blind and would not be able to match these colours in a million years. I'd just have to repaint the whole lathe.

    Hi, you mentioned you added a gear to reduce the bed traverse, could you explain please, as I think I have mine at the slowest speed, but to me it is still too fast.

    • @keithappleton
      @keithappleton  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just changed the positions of the gear wheels around at the end of the Headstock until the auto traverse moved at the correct speed. You would be better emailing www.myford.co.uk and asking them.

      I don't even know what "Bondo" is - never heard of it ....... besides, JB Weld works fine for me.

    • @ilfarmboy
      @ilfarmboy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keithappleton bondo is a paste like substance that is mixed with a hardener and is used a lot in automotive body work to fill in dents befor sanding and painting to make it look like new(might be cheaper than jb weld in some applications just trying to help)
