I work at a dry cleaner and I need to be able to grab and replace buttons fast so I got a 3 tiered lazy Susan from amazon and then I bought this bulk package of triangle shaped cake slice boxes where the top is clear and the bottom is solid. I don't use the bottoms, I took the clear plastic tops and flipped them over to store the buttons. I can fit about 8 of the triangles on each level of the turntable. I have all my colors of shirt and suit buttons at the ready and I don't have to waste time looking for buttons. I also took the labels off the bags that the buttons come in (we order from Wawak) and stuck them to the triangles so when I have to reorder buttons, I have the item number right there in front of my face and I don't have to look in the catalogue. Don't get me started on how I organize my zippers

I have my grandmother's button box in the tin she used. I remember hours of play in that box. My mom was a great sewer and I would hang out with her and pay with fabric and thread. My buttons I store sorted by colour in Mason Jars which sit up on a shelf in My sewing room. I also have a little cardboard decorative lunch box that has specialty shaped buttons. My granddaughter hasn't been interested in the buttons but she loves thread spools and fabric. Now I am teaching her to sew. She's 5.

My mother had a button box and a sewing box that I inherited and I now have her buttons and jars of my own that I simply adore. I just don't know what there is about buttons, but they are my favorite sewing accessory. Thanks for sharing your button story.

I love buttons I have buttons separated into a couple old milk bottles in green Mason jars with lids in tins of many different sizes. I have my MIL's old white buttons that my husband found out in his shop on the farm in small old jars. I love them all. I even have some very old thread in jars. One of my jars is only new buttons from clothes when you used to get them on clothing. I even have a jar that is all the buttons I have removed from thrift mens dress shirt that I have cut apart. This is a fun video

I remember my grandma’s bitten box. She made rag rugs so cut up a lot of old shirts to make fabric strips so she had tons of white shirt buttons. I used all her “fancy” buttons on craft projects over the years.

I remember my mother's button tin. I think it had once held a fruitcake. She did a lot of sewing of clothes and doll clothes, so there were a lot of buttons in it. In my sewing room, I have a vintage ½ pint milk bottle that I keep white buttons in. There are some vintage planters with old carded buttons in them. I had sewn a drawstring bag with an embroidered little girl in a garden on it to store a lot of my vintage buttons. Buttons were sewn on to represent flowers. I used reproduction fabrics to make the bag. I embroidered "Just Buttons" on it. This was not my pattern. I think it was from the Need'l Love company. My contemporary buttons are stored in a plastic Sterilite bin. I love your vintage items.

My mother's button box was an old chocolate candy tin. I had it for years and can't seem to locate it now. Fingers crossed it isn't lost as it had some lovely treasures and precious memories. It wasn't until I took a sewing course at the YWCA when I was 10 before I learned sewing notions could be stored in ANYTHING other than a candy tin - LOL!! Happy stitching!

I love the spice idea to store the buttons. I had to laugh when you said you thought your Moms button box was a lot bigger. I was talking to my Mom one time about the huge stuffed monkey I had when I was little. I was a bit disappointed when she told me how big it really was. I guess when your only five things seem bigger or our memories don’t quite remember the way things really are

My mother did not sew or have buttons. But I have always been a creative person and began sewing in my 30,s and began collecting buttons, I am now sixty and have many that I also display in mason jars in my sewing room, my grandson spent a lot of time with me when he was a toddler and even now at 7 and he absolutely LOVES playing with my buttons, he sorts them by size, color texture, such fun memories ! How wonderful you have your mothers tin of buttons! Thanks for a wonderful walk down memory lane, I enjoy your videos so much and looking forward to making mugrugs this weekend!

My mother was a seamstress. Her button box was a round tin that a fruit cake had come in. There was a picture of a very fancy old fashioned lady in the top. I played with the buttons a lot. Most if then had stories attached; she seemed all my clothes so there were left over buttons from my dresses and buttons she took off before giving away old clothes. I remember pretty silver filigree button from the dress coat she used to wear. I kept a button box in my first grade and second grade classrooms for the children to play with during indoor recess.

I have been working at getting my sewing room organized in ways that are functional and attractive. I have so many notions, tools, needles, snaps hooks etc. I am overwhelmed with deciding what to do. And now you bring up buttons? ARRGGGGHHH Thanks for you videos. They are always helpful. The spice rack is attractive. But I have way too many buttons for that and actually not space for it.

I remember my mother's button box. However, I have a lot more buttons and I sort them by holiday, type, color and mix up in small containers. I use them as decorations on craft projects as gifts (like pillowcases) for my younger friends.

I have my grandmother's button tin. I'm lucky to have it because I asked her for it first. I did share with my sister. Lots of good memories for all the grandkids as she let all of us play with her buttons when we were little. Love your spice rack. What a fun way to display your buttons!

I have that jar in the middle of that box with the milk jug. I’ll have to maybe move it from the laundry room to my sewing room. Right now I use it for any change I find in the washer when I do laundry.

You have great memories. Mom didn't have a button box nor did grandma. I have some that are just in a jar on one of my shelves. Done use a lot of them. However, I do have a small pincushion collection that seems to be growing as space allows.

My mother didn’t sew or have a button box but I do have a good variety of buttons that I keep in a jar. I do like your idea of putting them in a spice rack. I have a cute one that I really like but don’t need to use it for spices so now you have given me a good excuse to repurpose and keep it!

Thank you for the button ideas. I have so many buttons and want to display them in my small sewing area also. I have different clear jars I use for mine but type like, 4 holes, 2 holes, shank buttons etc. I have buttons that were my Mom's but not in anything special just a clear jar. I like your spice rack idea. Hope to see more ideas in the future.

My mother's button box was a large Christmas cookie tin. She also kept some in cigar tubes. I don't have a button collection, but I keep other crafting embellishments in a spice rack similar to the one you are using. BTW, I went to school with twins, Melodee and Monica Fox, I always think of them when I watching you and thinking you'd make a triple lolt

Penny, I like your way of using the spice rack for other embellishments! I also thought it would be a neat way to store pins, needles, sewing clips, etc. I especially like the narrow design of this spice rack! Lol regarding the twins!

I have my mom’s buttons in the old Velveeta cheese boxes! I love going thru them to search for a button or buttons that I might use for a project. I am wondering how they will hold up (though they seem to have for quite a number of years). I really like the old sewing machine drawer 💜 and how you have made use of it.
