Love the pop of color that the neon and lemon lime plants add to a green space.

Many thanks for this video! Deciding which plants to purge can be a daunting task for sure. Having a memory attached to the plant just makes it that much harder. For me, gifted plants are always more special. Wishing you the best of luck as you make these choices. As always I enjoyed seeing your beautiful plants.🥰. Have a great weekend! 👌🪴🥰

I think you should sell the aluminium plant (as beautiful as it is) & get a different one to celebrate letting go!! Xxxx

I second that! I'm also a hot sleeper and was just thinking of refreshing my bedroom. Plus, sheets align with the plant aesthetic of self care and comfort, so don't apologize!

I think you should propagate a baby aluminum plant and send off the mother plant. It could be like an acknowledgement of who you were when you bought it and where you were, but also metaphorically what you have since left behind.

So sweet of someone to gift you such beautiful plants 💜
Chopping that hoya up and rooting it without sunstress would probably give you the green leaves you want instead of yellowish

The leaves are actually supposed to be a reddish color on the Hoya, but I sold it last weekend to a young gentleman who was very excited about the fact that it’s leaves will change color with different levels of light and he has a trellis he wanted to put it on💚

Honestly i dont mind seeing sponserships that dont relate to the channel content at all. What matters to me is if you actually like/honest about whatever the product is. We all have other needs in our lives and other interests. 😊

Your Brooklinen ad 🤣 love it Drea!
I wish I could afford them. I do plan to invest at some point! For me, the "plant part" is the fact that I'm sick of using things that contain micro plastics that harm plants, oceans, wildlife in all forms. So many things contain these plastics that are killing our planet from polyester blends to microfiber cloths. I'm not going to get rid of what I have BC that's not good for the environment either, but as I replace things I am actively trying to get natural fibers like linen, cotton and so on. I can't recall what documentary I saw that had tested human placentas and every single one of them had microplastics in there feeding these unborn babies! That's humans who are going through treated waters etc not wildlife that has no choice! I know we can't avoid all plastic but we can reuse and reduce what we do buy and just be more conscientious shoppers which is what IMO brooklinen offers!

Aloha Drea, glad to see that the rooted cuttings did make it to you safe & sound. Wasn’t sure, as I never saw the members only unboxing. Like your idea of a plant wall in the bathroom!!! The plants should feel at home, as they were all water propagated in Perrier bottles hanging on my shower wall. ***note, my shower has 4’x6’ sky light/roofing, so it’s full of natural diffused light.*** And the Albo Monstera was being airlayered, & got cut & added to mailing box last minute. Best of Luck with your new direction, many blessings, & much Aloha!!!!!!!!

Yes, they are all doing great even the fern! Didn’t repot that one though per your note. How established do you think I should let it get before repotting it? It’s been pumping out a ton of new growth over the last few weeks💚

Very timely video. Just this morning I was looking at my Micans which is doing terrific, but whose growth habit with velvety leaves just isn’t my vibe, so I was thinking I could give it to my daughter who quite enjoys Micans. Still on fence, but I say get the plants in the homes of folks who are going to truly treasure them!

I feel the same about my Paraiso Verde and Brandi. My Paraiso Verde put out beautiful mottled leaves in my greenhouse in September and October. Then I brought it inside in November and the leaves turned mostly green. It’s back outside now so maybe it will start looking better. I don’t know what my Brandi needs. I accidentally broke a section off and it looked better than most of the original plant so I propagated it and just put it on a pole. If it needs humidity, it’s going outside because I don’t plan to get a plant cabinet! 😣

It's probably to late but I think the tall hoya could go on the mantle where the tall vase is. Just a thought, I love hoya so I'm biased

I have a neon pothos under a grow light, but the leaves are turning dark…starting to look like a regular pothos. I also had a lemon line philodendron, but it didn’t do well. I even cut it up to propagate, didn’t take. I finally purged it..along with the fidley figs that propagate quickly but don’t last for me.

No judgement, I know you have your reasons, but I am sad to see you part with your Aglaonema maria, since it is one of my favorites, with an emotional connection. A co-worker "gifted" me mine in the early 90's, as a bundle of bare sticks. I cut down the larger stalks and rooted them back into the same pot, and since then, I have a beautiful, full, trouble-free plant. I named him "Larry", in honor of my co-worker. When they get leggy, I propagate my other Aggies in this method, and they all look like they just arrived from a greenhouse.

My rattlesnake calathea is in a 4 inch grow pot. Roots are starting to poke through the bottom. Would you upsize the pot or do they like to be a bit tight? I haven't seen a new leaf in a few weeks.
Did your monstera take steroids or did you add to it? Lol love the way it's looking behind you!

    • @AlohaPlantLife
      @AlohaPlantLife  ปีที่แล้ว +3

Unless there’s roots all the way up and down and around when you slip it out of the pot I wouldn’t repot into a bigger pot yet. And when I was editing this video I was thinking, “Dang. The Monstera is getting huge”. I swear it’s because of the Soltech light. It’s been pumping out new growth at a much faster rate since I installed the light (not that it’s ever been ‘slow’). I’m thinking it might be needing a trim soon. I’ve never cut it before and it didn’t even lose its first leaf just due to old leaf age until a few weeks ago and I’ve had it since November of 2021

@@AlohaPlantLife instead of cutting it you should grab up some bamboo stakes and just tidy it up a bit. The bamboo hides really well even if you add a bunch and you can cut it down with sheers once you've got it in place. I do love the jungle look of it but I imagine it's going to start getting hit when you walk by! Lol I saw the girl on the my city plants tidy up a monstera with bamboo and it really made it look nice without having to prune much!

I just got a melanochrsum, it was putting out a new leaf when I got it and luckily the new leaf came out fine! Hopefully it's okay in my house because I've heard they like higher humidity. I also recently got a billitiea and sadly it's new leaf got stuck and broke off. I love the huge Monstera behind you I can't wait for mine to get that big!

Great video! As far as the Aluminum plant is concerned, what if you took a propagation and changed the meaning of what it means to you? The original Aluminum plant signified your strength and resilience in starting over when your divorce was finalized. I am sorry you had to deal with that - been there, done that and it sucks! :( You conquered the obstacles during that transition, moved on, and created a new, happy life. What if the new propagation represents your strength, resilience, and transition from corporate life to your new happy, fulfilling, independent business venture?
