    You know those mids are good with that reaction lol; I can't imagine how good they will sound after the matting. It's crazy how excited it can make you when watching someone-else get excited about what they are working on. Love the build and can't wait for the next videos.

    I love your videos!!! and your choice in speakers!! I am in the middle of sound deadening, sound absorbing, etc. my 2003 pt cruiser tricked out gt turbo!!! I am putting ps165fx 's in the Q-logic kick panels and pc165f coaxial in the rear pillars, 12 inch focal sub in the boot........ YUM. can't wait!!

    Hey James. Most if my music runs between Tool and Boston. Clarity, full sound, and good mid-range are important to me. You install a lot of Focals. Do these speakers represent that sound well? Thinking Focal Performance PS 165F for the front, Focal Performance PC 165 for rear, on a 2004 Tahoe

    Really good video as always! I already know how they sounds by looking at your expressions!
    I have a 2-way Focal polyglass kit installed in my car and they sound amazing if it wasn't for the stock headunit which is equalized pretty bad... partially solved the problem by using pink noise, RTA and a good music player app on my phone
    Prepare for a dramatic increase in mid-bass once the doors are deadened!

    great job, congratulations. I would like to mount a Focal PS 165FXE kit on the front doors and Focal PC 165 FE on the rear doors on a golf mk7, my question is if they would give the diameter to mount without adapters?

    Great video! The reason I bought these speakers!
    Would love to hear your opinion on bi-amping these. I have also just bought a pioneer DEH-80PRS and alpine pdr-v75 amp and not sure whether to go to active crossovers or do as you have done. Thanks!

    Did you use the car factory speaker wires and add your aftermarket speakers wires to the components?
    Thank you

    Nice work. One thing that came to mind though, the foam in the tweeter cavities is going to dramatically change the sound, perhaps for better, or worse, but definitely taming them down. Just a thought. Thanks for the vid !

    U may have to cut out a channel for the warm hot exhaust air of the amp to go out and completely away from the amp area.Hard to tell from the videos but looks like the area where the hot air comes out channels back around to where the input air flow is. Which as u know is only going to make that amp run hotter. Had a simular issue with a friends car and ended up re channeling the air to go into the spare tire well and from that point on the amp only ever got warm even after hrs of slammin.

    Greetings from Ecuador , I’m planning on getting these beauties; how many rms you recommend per speaker ? How about 100 rms ?

  • @mymodel6
    @mymodel6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You never want the screw to be threading into the wood AND the metal, unless you get it very tight, they will seperate and the baffle will never tighten fully against the door, i don't need to tell you about getting an airtight seal... Always clearance the wood and only thread into the metal...

    If your still concerned with if you have contact between the grill surround and the woofer in the door panel...
    You can buy chalk line chalk at any hardware store. Apply a small amount to the trim ring and then very gently attach the door skin. Then remove the skin. If you have chalk on the woofer then you have contact.
    You might also try this with the system off first then on. On, to check to see if there is enough travel room for the woofer to expand. If you have contact, you should have a definitive line. If it's just a little chalk on the speaker then it may just be vibration from the woofer causing it to lose contact with the grill surround.

    • @caraudioetc
      @caraudioetc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got it all sorted, the woofer membrane never touched the door card, it was the basket of the speaker where you put the mounting screws through that slightly touched which is fine.
      The door popped all the way on with no troubles and i put that layer of foam tape in there to prevent potential rattle.

    When I eventually have enough money for the Focal speakers I want no damn way I'm not building door pods to show them off.

    Why do focals have such a low rms rating? 6-80 watts rms? My hd amp is pushing 150 a channel can these handle it?

    • @chrischoy9
      @chrischoy9 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Head unit amps are more like 14-18W RMS. They often advertise somewhere between 45-55 Watts, but that is peak and you'd never see a power figure like that.

  • @greenbullitt6999
    @greenbullitt6999 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would have removed the OEM speakers from their enclosures then installed the Focals to that.

    Do you guys sell the Focal speakers online? Otherwise can you recommend a good supplier? I'm in Hawkes Bay (Napier). Can you suggest an amp that will be ideal for these and give me room to add a sub later (I'm a broke Emergency Service worker so building the system piece by piece).

    Does focal have matching mid bass speakers to the ps 165 fx? And are focal 4ch amps good?

    • @caraudioetc
      @caraudioetc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      when you say matching the 165fx do you mean matching coaxles?
      that would be the pc165f. and theyre real good especially for their money.
      unsure of their amps because weve never used them since theyre so expensive, but i would imagine they are pretty decent.

    That very well built terminal strip you mentioned is not attached very good. There is a very small piece of plastic that is adhered to the basket and mine pulled off which could have resulted in the voice coil wires braking off. Cheap speakers often have less rugged terminal strips but they are often riveted onto a metal tab attached to the basket. Another problem is the lack of midrange speaker wires and if you don't have the right sizes terminals and don't want to wait for those terminals to come in, you solder wires on which is what i did. That could have heated up that little adhesive holding the terminal strip on. Overall i think it is a terrible design for a very expensive speaker system. My dynaudios were much better built and lasted me 20 years before i had a problem with one out of four midranges that could not be easily fixed.

    How did you configure the crossovers on the headunit ? I have the same speakers but i don't know what to set the crossover at.

    • @adityagrahapratama2203
      @adityagrahapratama2203 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      NUC he didn't have to configure crossovers/or frequency cutting because it is already done by passive crossovers on the back
