its also worth noting that not all bites are "bites" conure's ,like most other parrots have prehensile beaks and they use thier mouths to grab onto things when climbing...so the might lightly clamp on your finger when steping on,this is especially true for birds whose wings are clipped or otherwise cannot fly.
My cockatiel is smart enough to be summoned and find me in a small crowd but not enough to give himself a bath. Legit had to show him a video of birds bathing for him to finally bathe himself instead of being sprayed 👽
I have adopted a pair of green cheeks told not quite a year, they bite for blood. I’m working on it. They’ve gotten a little better. They do get excited when they see the stick. Wish me luck.
This sun conure is using its beak to test where to step and balance as per the other perches it bites. It's not an aggressive bite. If it doesn't hurt its perfectly normal behaviour.
It's not particularly about the treat. There are so many other variables to consider for successful parrot training that focusing on treat selection would only be a distraction. It could work. Problem is when you want your bird to behave for someone else, won’t listen to them. Using the training tools makes the behavior more robust and easier to transition to someone else.
I noticed the toy. I bought the same ones for my parrots, they went straight for the plastic strings and the whole thing fell apart in less than 10 seconds). Just surprised that yours is still hanging).
Go back a step or two. Also make sure the bird is getting the right combination of sleep, proper diet, nutrition, schedule, routine, and more. You can learn how to properly balance all of those elements and build genuine trust with your bird from The Parrot Wizard’s Guide to Well-Behaved Parrots which you can find at AllParrots.com
ive had my sun conure for about 6 months and he has never bitten me he just steps up honeslty i am suprised because recently like 1 month ago i got a green cheek conure and hes a little asshole 💀😂 but he steps up i just dont have his full trust yett he bites cuz he still feels like scared but is a really smart birds i love them mango and Avocado
Any advice on how to stop getting a conure to bite in general, i have a year ish old one i just got and she loves to bite hard when you try to get her to get off you shoulder or go back into cage
Questions. How smart are they really cause I’ve been told they are like a three year old but do they actually understand emotions or when you tell them no? Wouldn’t it be easier to train getting one as a baby or raising it from an egg ?
They are very smart which actually makes it more difficult. They are smart enough to realize that getting humans bent out of shape saying no is really amusing. In some ways it is harder to properly train them when they are young because they change rapidly. They learn quickly at this age but they can learn inconvenient behaviors even faster than desirable ones.
Ironically he gets quiet as soon as I come in and give him attention or make a video. It’s when I don’t that he gets super noisy. I’ll see about making a video
Training can go both ways. I start training going back into the cage immediately when I start training to come out. If you can keep your bird happy coming out of cage, going into cage, and stepping on you, you are pretty well set for having a happy bird and a good relationship.
You call that biting?😂😂😂😂 Those are kisses! You have never been bitten by a parrot that wants to draw blood😂😂😂 but i prefer to work with those parrots over parrots that want to flee when you near them
Parrots don’t bite me regardless of age or background because I never give them a reason to bite. The ones shown in the video wouldn’t happen either if I didn’t let them happen for display

This also works on human offspring as well. I taught mine to roll over, fetch and graduate high school.
Your choice of words is amazing
@@Natan-Kenzohaha
lol 😂 amazing
Yeah who would've thought all you needed to discipline your kids was a stick and....wait a fucking minute
18+ years of training and patience. Impressive.
They're fast learners when taught correctly...nice work 😊
They sure can be. But it’s important never to feel rushed. I found that faster results often come from setting no deadlines or expectations
its also worth noting that not all bites are "bites" conure's ,like most other parrots have prehensile beaks and they use thier mouths to grab onto things when climbing...so the might lightly clamp on your finger when steping on,this is especially true for birds whose wings are clipped or otherwise cannot fly.
All parrots use their beaks to grab onto stuff
That's why body language is so important to learn.
Instructions unclear. My bird now runs the house and feeds me if I behave well.

That’s a beautiful bird, even by conure standards.
I don’t have a parrot, but was still interested in learning how to train one of these things.
Glad you still found it interesting
It's a lot like training a 2-3 year old taht has scissors instead of hands
Pavlov’s training method in full effect.
I’m so glad you’re showing this I have been so frustrated. I have had my sun conure for 2 months and she is still afraid of my hands
Be sure to follow as I will have more videos with sun conure later

How's it going so far
What a cutie patootie
Aww it’s adorable!
Lovely bird, nice little short 😊
Glad you liked it
Thats what we call :
Pavlov's theory also known as classical conditioning .
😍
For more stable behavior reinforcement, it is also important that the reinforcement be intermittent

exactly...parrots use thier beaks like a hand,to grab things and help them climb.
Baby sun conure🎉🎉🎉
good work
my conure just runs out the cage the second i open it... she does it voluntarily, and i have only had her for 3 days...😅
My conure lives for sitting under my hoodie. Can do it for hours, just crawls out to poop and right back in. Its his comfort zone.
Do they ever make the clicker sound when they want something
whats the point in the clicker
if i got one, any time i clicked it he would get terrified and fly away
Not if you use it correctly. I have videos coming up about this
Thank you for teaching us
What kind of Conure Parakeet, is this? A mix/cross of 2/two species? Sun, Golden, Cherry, or, Jenday? 🤔
Sun Conure but a red factor
@All-Parrots Thanks; your Sun Conure Parrot, is VERY beautiful; SO cute/adorable! 😉😘🥰😍🤩🥳🎉
Best to train a parrot at a young age and don’t wait for it to grow up
you can also just gently press your finger against its belly and it will step up
Comment if you love birds❤
yeah but my tiel bites the stick aggressively lol
❤❤❤❤
What the clicker do?
The clicker lets the bird know the moment the behavior it is doing earned a treat
What do you use for a treat ? Now how do you stop a cat from biting ?
It's not particularly about the treat. There are so many other variables to consider for successful parrot training that focusing on treat selection would only be a distraction.

Where can I get those lovely perches?

Can I make the clicking sound with my tongue?
Does making a click sound with my mouth work

Gotta teach my gf this
I noticed the toy. I bought the same ones for my parrots, they went straight for the plastic strings and the whole thing fell apart in less than 10 seconds). Just surprised that yours is still hanging).
The Ringneck dismantled his the first day but the Sun has been chewing on it little by little
for health and safety reasons, it's better to buy them toys that don't have plastic
What bait food ur using?
My parrot is scared as hell
What do you do if you go to hand the treat through the bars and the bird hisses then tried to bite

I'm to the stick part. Now. How do we go from stick. To finger? He loves the stick lol. He doesn't like fingers
Same way if you trained the first part right
How does it teach the Conure not to bite?

Are the wings clipped?
No
counterpoint = how to train your parrot to bite fingers that enter the bars

Does this work with budgies too?
Yup
I have one we use to be friends I left for a while and came back and now he always flys to attack me even tho he lets me pet him threw the cage
Is 1 sun conure loud?
Moderately loud, very noisy
@ can you post how noisy he is.
Ironically he gets quiet as soon as I come in and give him attention or make a video. It’s when I don’t that he gets super noisy. I’ll see about making a video

Both
@@All-Parrotsooo interesting! Is he a red factor or does some of the green stay?
Can we keep parrots without a cage 🦜 i don't want to keep it in cage and feel like home 🙂🙂🙂 i want the parrot to it own as it's own place instead 🐍🐍🐍🐍
No, they can destroy everything and hurt themselves. Their instinct is to chew everything up and look for nest sites.
👏🧡✨
You bite it back
That would only work once
Open the cage and my birds are out instandly
❤❤❤🎉
this doesn't work if your parrot flocks with non-traditional flock. See figure.1 - Chinchilla
You would bite too, if a giant hand came into your home! 😮
Just saying, all creatures are territorial by nature.
