Green Cheek Conure FIRST TIME Target Training
This is the first time we are doing target training with this Green Cheek Conure! He learns how to target so quickly, it’s amazing!
We use a clicker with a target stick to mark the right behavior and give the Conure a treat. Conures learn to follow a target stick. When the Conure touches the stick with his beak, he gets a treat. Once parrots learns to target, we can use this positive reinforcement training method to guide the birds to go where we point, such as come out of the cage, go back into the cage, go on a scale, fly to a specific spot, or walk over to our hand.
It’s a fun and easy training exercise

How I Set Up Green Cheek Conure Baby Cage
มุมมอง 810หลายเดือนก่อน
This video shows how I outfit a Green Cheek Conure parrot cage with toys and perches. We start with an empty cage and create a nice Conure cage set up. Putting good toys and perches in the bird’s enclosure is very important. Parrots can use a variety of perches. We are using natural perches and NU Perches in this cage. This cage set up is for a baby parrot. This Green Cheek Conure is a baby bir...

If it had a close bond with a second parrot, they’d probably handle this amongst themselves
I’m planning on the Senegal being my first bird as an adult. I grew up with African greys! She’s beautiful and so sweet!
❤❤❤
how to tell the adults from baby baby is bby. very squish. adorb adult is wise. sturdy. will end you for one corn chip
So much love ❤❤❤❤❤

👍🦜❤️💚🦜❤️💚🦜❤️💚
Why does he make the squeaky noise? My cockatiel does the same thing after completing a trick, I kind of interpret it as a demanding “okay, now where’s my treat?”
To me it’s like a little “yay!” Or “I’m doin’ it!” He’s so cute!
i always have the issue of my sassy green cheek only listening to commands if he sees the treat lol i def need to work on target stick training with him. i bet he would be so receptive once he got the hang of it. also the little squeaks coming out of this little guy omg so adorable. you can tell just from that hes a bit younger, i just love how energetic he is haha
That wasn't voluntary that was transactional not a bab thing just the wrong wording.
you sun conure is so beautiful is he red factor?
Yes
Is baby
Oh wow so my ex girlfriend Daria was an African gray ?
He also just has those characteristic juvenile features you see on all animals.
❤
mine is still terrified of people and I can't even get him to eat infront of me
Hey I just got a conure who’s never been held before (they’re adult and you can’t even get them go less then a inch away from your hand) and never been out of their cage till today (I let them out and guided them back with treats) and I NEED help with this bird. Their very inquisitive and I’ve gotten them to take treats from my hand but I don’t have any local bird trainers I don’t think and if so I can’t fork up another 100-200$ on training

I think she needs some beak trimming
It’s pretty involved to do the lower beak so we have the vet do it once a year.
Such a sweet baby girl ❤
Is there a benefit to having a designated training perch? I usually train my birds either on top of their cage, or inside their cage.
Yes for sure. It helps them avoid distraction and get into the “training mood” to learn and pay attention.
AWWWWWWWW SOOOO CUTE! I have a 27 yr old Timneh grey. Does the tail thing also apply to her?
That is a macaw, sir.
Yup
Target training taught my parrot to bite. She legit thought that's what the treats were for. I had to unteach her biting things placed near her, including your hands.
Oh, I just love her!!!! She looks like our Maxie except she's a lot more calm!! What a beautiful beak she has!! I always kiss them on the beaks, I just love them all!!!❤❤❤
So fluffy 🥰💙💚💛
My greencheek now imitates the clicker when he feels he deserves a reward.
Wait what’s his name?
I trained my cats this way, one took over an hour to grasp it, the other took around 30 seconds or so to figure it out. :D
Having a GCC myself I can vouch for their swiftness in catching on and learning 😊
why do all bird people talk the same?
He doesn’t look like either of my green cheeks, he’s got way more colour variation.
I got a question. Picked loki a baby Senegal, bonding is going super easy, amazing bird. What do u use for training treats ? Also mine eyes are all brown, maybe because he she is still a baby ?
What do u use as training treats ? I'm starting training mine soon
Such an intelligent baby!! Our babies work well with the target stick too! What a great tool!! Sometimes the bigger beaked babies want to eat the stick but they soon realize that they get a treat and they have learned to eat that instead of the stick!!❤❤❤😂
Yup

She’s a big help
thanks for sharing this
Wow ❤
Wow, your making this look super easy! What a smart little GC!❤
Thing is, they are super smart. If you set things up right, aren’t in a hurry, and stay consistent, it is pretty easy. Check out all the advice in The Parrot Wizard’s Guide to Well-Behaved Parrots to learn how to make training fun and easy for any bird.
I heard that childs are best for practicing not parents! Am I right?
are dorost shenidi
What treats do i give?😊
The ones your parrot likes 😉
Does making a click sound with my mouth work
It could work. Problem is when you want your bird to behave for someone else, won’t listen to them. Using the training tools makes the behavior more robust and easier to transition to someone else.
Did you get it as a baby?
Hello, what treats do you give?
aw that is soooo cute 🥰 very smart
What about a small brush? That could work.
Not with feathers
What an adorable little birb!❤ Hope it's doing okay!❤
Easy solution is to leave birds in nature where they belong and other birds will help preen them. Keep animal that can fly and meant to live in a flock by itself in a house is so selfish.
Uh...
