This video is my updated conure guide. This guide is focused on green cheek conures, but many of the tips will apply to other conure species, so don't skip it if you have a different type!
I felt my old one needed an update with more detail and to cover more aspects of looking after conures including diet, cage set up, behaviour/traits and training tips.
Hopefully if you're a new conure owner or just looking to brush up on your conure information it will prove useful!

Thanks for the videos! I’ve kind of got my heart set on getting one of these little guys. My husband is allergic to cats & dogs, and I’ve had animals all my life. We both stay home and have no children. I could use some bird company lol. I haven’t had a bird, though, so I am researching like crazy beforehand, and your videos have helped a lot!

A conure is a good shout especially if you’re preparing well!
Also they are less dusty than other parrots so are less likely to irritate your husbands allergies
Love your videos, getting my gcc in a couple of days and your videos are amazing! My guy will be 10 months old, I’m just wondering may that affect bonding and training?
Not significantly no! They may have some habits and be used to a certain diet but generally it has no huge impact!

Very interesting video. How load would you say a conure are compared to a loadly barking dog? Also, are they constantly loadly noisy or would it be more like bursts of noisiness, and more chirps for the most part? If they do bursts of very noisy, how frequent? Is it any particular time of day? Also the information on sleeping needs was very useful. It basically rules them out (possibly all parrots) for me the next year and a half, as it would be hard to provide enough downtime in my current flat. More time to learn 👍The species seem like lovely birds that I will consider in the future. Great video, as usual!
Sadly most parrots will have high sleeping needs due to their biology!
As for the noise level is really varies from
Conure to conure! They can all be very loud at times and quieter at other times!
You could consider a pionus!

I love your videos!!! I purchased a Green cheek about 5 months ago and I am training now .I know he''s starting to talk because he's mumbling some words but I can't hear them. He's not projecting the words yet. I also have a parakeet who is much older and never talked.Since Spidey came she is so happy that she chirps constantly. Is she possibly stopping Spidey from talking or projecting the words??? If anyone knows please let me know.
Hey there,
It’s unlikely that your other bird is impacting on your conure speaking! If there’s something specific you’d like them to say or sound to make try to repeat it often and also capture it with rewards!
Be aware not all conures will talk or chat as much as others though!
@@TheParrotTeacher Thanks for the guidance. I've owned cockatoos and amazons also parakeets but,no conures. They learned to speak somewhat quickly. But Spidey is taking a while. Being patient and keeping at it !!!

It definitely is possible! But it does require a slightly more cautious approach!

With hard woods to chew on, would smearing peanut butter on parts of it make it more interesting?
I mean all natural peanut butter?
Honestly, I’d avoid using that!
Foraging by hiding treats or using materials that are fun is best!
What kind of foraging substrate would you recommend putting at the bottom?
You can use all sorts! I have a substrate guide if you’d like to explore more formal types. But people use natural dyed crinkle paper, shredded printer paper, toy parts etc
I am very new at working and caring for a Green Cheek Conure. It was very easy to introduce my Conure to some vegetables but I had not been able to get him interested in fruits. I have tried the tricks I did when I introduce to him the vegetables but they are not working.
I eat and I offer him a clean piece. I had put them in sweet potato but it doesn't work. He still goes for his seeds and vegetables. Is there any way to detach him from the seeds from the pet store and get him use to his fruits and veggies?
So firstly it’s awesome he’s eating his veggies!
I have to admit it’s unusual for a conure to not like fruit, many go crazy for it! But honestly I’d just keep at it and remember he only needs a little fruit as part of his diet!

My 2 year old male conure bites me really hard (sometimes I even bleed) when he sees someone he doesn’t like (usually my dad or my brother) why does he bite me when im “his favorite” ? I read something about displaced aggression, if thats the case how can I make it stop?
Displaced aggression is definitely a likely cause. He can’t get at the thing he’s scared or cross at so he takes it out on you.

are both your birds green cheeked, my new conure is rooming side by side with my sister in laws conure, their cages are next to each other but when i move they would be separated is that gonna cause depression between them
We have 4 green cheeked conures and 2 crimson bellied ones!

I just got an green cheek and she is so mean bites! She’s been at PetSmart for 6months! Is it too late for her to come around? We can’t do anything with her
Of course not! All it takes is time patience and training! I have lots of videos on training and biting worth exploring!

We remember you said they're best kept in pairs so we finally adopted a second, but she's very anxious and is consistently aggressive towards him, lunging and nipping at him. She loves my husband but tries to bite our resident bird Peach whenever he comes near. He clearly wants to cuddle (he got hold of one of her tail feathers and was preening it--while I had my hand as a wall between the two). Is that still better than being solo? Or will she eventually warm up to him? Does it have something to do with how attached she is to humans?

So bringing in another bird is always a potentially complex thing! While we advise on multi bird households we also make it clear that birds may not always get on!

Very rarely is! We always say you can at least achieve tolerance with enough patience and effort!
Can i treat my sick conure myself all doctors ik are useless only wants money, i never brought conure it came at my home and never went recently she is acting abit aggressive and making unusual sounds what should i do for it
So you should never do that yourself. First aid is fine but anything else needs an avian vet.

Im about to get a pinneaple conure, but i dont know if its a female or male, what are the diferrence between a male and a female i hardly find any vids about this topic, and if i find any theyre in hindi. So can you please tell me thx
I have a video on that topic on my channel! As for differences looks wise there are none. Behaviour wise females “tend” to be a little cuddlier but it all depends on the individuals!

Are cockatiels smaller or bigger then a green cheek conure?
They are actually bigger! They weigh roughly 100 g whereas a gc is around 65

@@TheParrotTeacher is it bad that my male cockatiel is around his 70s to 80s at the most. He has always been smaller then the others and very light feeling
