Thank you for another great video, BN 🙏 I appreciate how you treat NIO for what it is, a premium to luxury smart EV manufacturer with top notch safety, comfort, tech and all the bells and whistles. As a NIO user, I obviously appreciate the fast charging development. But it's not super important to me, as I swap 9 out of 10 times when I need road trip electricity (which might be applicable for 9/10 NIO users). I really don't care, or notice, if I have a 100 kWh "A" or "B" battery (as I charge at home at night, or swap). The swap network is widening out, and I enjoy a "flat charging curve" of 1000-1300 kW every time I swap in 4-5 minutes. I had to supercharge about a month ago, and I realized that I had an "A" 100 kWh battery, which sat me back, time wise, maybe 8-10 minutes vs my earlier comparable charging sessions with a "B" battery. That's obviously not the end of the world, when you save alot of time and money the other 9 out of 10 times when swap under your subscription. The BaaS subscription, is a steal IMO, when you're paying, interest free, net 1200-1300 NOK per month (1999 if don't swap/don't use electricity thru NIO), for a battery that's approximately 200.000 NOK. Add on no warranty issues at all, and top that off with the opportunity to participate in future battery technology with your "old" car: People in China can swap their 70 kWh 2018 ES8 to a 2024 150 kWh semi solid state battery, in 3 minutes, as we speak ⚡️⚡️ It's not here (Europe) yet, but we will hopefully also see some development in that area.
If you arrive with 10 % and swap, you will get 90 % battery. Given that the average available energy is 88 kWh and that the swap itself takes 5 mintues, average power equivalent to charging is: 0.8 * 88 kWh / 5 min * 60 min/h = 845 kW
Thanks for your reply, appreciate it 👏 And I know, your math can be correct too, because I've also done it dozens of times. And I know, from personal experience, that you can easily arrive at PSS with 2% or 5%, and get a 100 kWh battery with 92% or 93% SoC, in less than 5 minutes (gen 3 ofc), and then suddenly my calculations are also correct. The point wasn't whether you get 845 or >1000 kW "speed", the point was: NIO users who mainly swap (when we don't charge at home at night), it makes very little difference, it's hardly noticeable, whether we're with a 100 kWh "A" or "B". That's my experience, after driving the car every day privately, at work, and on holiday for a long time. If I were to choose, when swapping, I could actually choose an "A" battery og leave them "B" for those who want it for the fast supercharging ;-)
