Man. I never knew what I was missing my 15 years of my life listening solely to 70's and 80's rock. Just branched out into loving SRV, and now this! Love it, love it, love it! Listening to this just makes you feel like picking up the guitar and playing whatever comes to mind. :D
albert king played with passion that is what comes through for me , he is one of the reasons so many of us play guitar ,. what seperates the men from the boys is the love for the music. from the heart ,that is where the soul blossoms .
MAN!! You took those words right out of my mouth!!! LOL!!! YOUR RIGHT!!! Albert King played with much more intensity than Clapton or SRV but B.B King is running neck to neck with Albert King. PEACE
How often has Mick Taylor taken a back seat? Just this one time. Albert had the ability to channel something all the rest of us couldn't even dream of having.
Thats true! follow Alberts licks and BBs licks its one of the hardest things I ever done. It not a matter of speed or practice as a machine, its about where the notes go. Pushing and pulling the time, bending the strings like hell, crying finding the vibrato with heavy gauge strings and pf course, a LOT of feeling...
There are nuances in Albert's stuff that you have to listen carefully to really notice. As Mike Bloomfield said once, AK played more lyrically than anyone else and could write a book with just four notes. Plus, AK is the only player to intimidate the great Jimi Hendrix despite not having Hendrix's virtuosity. It is called soul and AK had it in spades...not to mention his being a master of timing and dynamics: two elements missing from most guitar players regardless of their genre.
Whatever one wants to say about many of the blues aspects of SRV's playing, he was able to play the style better than anyone not named Albert King. AK's stuff sounds simple but it is nowhere near as easy to play as it sound...just ask Eric or anyone else who sought to appropriate them in their own work. (Sometimes note for note.)
Sorry man!! I know who Mick Taylor is and what he represent in the blues world and in the music in general but I could not identify him in the video...
5 dislikes?? buddy guy told a story "one time this niggah said ALBERT YOU SORRY AS HELL!!! and al being 6' 4" and around 280 lifted him up and threw him to the ground so i bet these dislikers wouldnt do it to his face hahaha!!!!!!!
