I dont understand why is is every time i go to a blues video thees somebody always debating about whose the best. Thats not what the blues is about. Hell a lot of these guys you spend all of your breath arguing over were good friends. Why cant we just lay back, crack open a cold one and enjoy these guitar masters in action?
Would have agreed with you until I saw The Stones live in Quebec in 2015. I've been a fan of Wood ever since his days in the Faces, but live he was absolutely awesome. World class, second to none.
Albert is great. Amazing phrasing, great tone, a real legend. This has also become one of my favourite Mick Taylor moments, his solo is amazing. (Eric Clapton who?)
No one can bend strings like Albert King. That break at 5:50 is why he is the greatest. He then just says goodnight and leaves the audience always wanting more!
@onlyjoetee Mick Taylor lets his playing speak for itself, if you think it is boring and dull, you need to get a new pair of ears. He is a very diverse and talented musician, his vibrato reeks of pure emotion. His playing has a certain fluidity to it. He knows how to repeat a phrase, but some how accenuate it differently each time. A skill necessary for blues music (as there aren't alot of notes to work with in 12 bars, and 3 chords), and a skill that few musicians ever truly master.
Blues is the truest form of music there is, as they deal with the tough issues in life we all face, and the artists who play them sing and play from the heart, not the mind
Great great clip! Thanks sharing this to all of us blues lovers. Historic images of superb Blues Giants! All of them show / have shown talents only few possess.
I used to see Albert King all the time in a tiny little club called the Keystone in Berkeley Ca. He was just like that. Playing up a storm. But cool as a cat, with a pipe in his mouth. Totally in control.
@@TheArtofBlues It was typical club volume. Not overbearing or too loud at all. And Albert didn't shred notes. The phrasing and spacing were perfect because the band complimented him so well and they all knew how to play the smaller room. Maria Muldaur played there too. She was lovely. They were real pros.
this is what's great about youtube; you get to see these special moments in time. sometimes, you have to see things live to realize what they are doing is so much more than you think; thanks for uploading this!
@huubramler Albert King himself has always said that he wants younger players to come forward and take room. Taylor had a great blues solo going, lovely dynamics and feeling, so he kept going to reach the crescendo. At the jam in the end of this show, you can clearly see Albert King watching Taylor and being very impressed. And when you play a guitar solo like this on stage, you are completely in your own world. Two legendary guitar players btw, thanks for the video srvfan79.
My son´s English Bull Terrier got loose from a house he was visiting in Paradise Valley in Montana. We both went to this service road at the end of a long driveway and he went one way and I went the other. Just then, a pickup truck drove up, and John Meyer was behind the wheel, and, Chico, the Bull Terrier was in the passenger seat. He asked us if we´d lost a dog and we were very happy to tell him yes. Neither of us had the slightest clue who he was, and I offered to give him some money. He declined the cash and introduced himself, said he was new to the neighborhood and was glad he could help. God bless him. My son would have just about have to go to a hospital and be put in an induced coma if something bad happened to that dog. John Meyer must have been directed by the hand of God himself to have arrived at that completely out of the way place and at that very moment to save my son´s dog.
I don't wanna say that Mick Taylor's solo was bad (actually, it was kinda good), but Albert King clearly insisted a guitar conversation, and when King does that, you don't ignore him and keep playing your own solo's!!
people who criticize Albert or BB or Eric...you're just fools. I pity you. They all have put joy in my heart at one time or another, and that's all that matters.
I love this fucking song and what a great Jam these boys can sure pick a blues tune. Albert is the man thanks for the video srvfan79. Been going back through my whole blues collection after listening to this love the BLUES
Mayall in the 60s had Clapton as the guitar player, but what really made the band was the harp (harmonica) used in those blues songs. Clapton played with Sonny Williamson and the Yardbirds too. Greatest harp possible ever, 3 guitar legends Page, Beck, Clapton played with the Yardbirds.
This is from a video called "Blues Alive", 1982 in NJ. Also had Buddy Guy and Junior Wells, and I think Etta James. I had a beta copy which is sadly long lost. M Taylor with his great tone as always.
Well the original lineup included Mayall on vocals, keyboards and harmonica, guitarist Bernie Watson, bassist John McVie and drummer Peter Ward. This was much later - good tho ;-)
met Albert in 1980 after a show, in a laundry mat talked with him about 30 minutes nice man. H esaid at the filmore west Jimi Hendrix gave him a joint laced with heroin, he said he got so high he had to put ice between his arm and his legs, after that he swore off drugs for good . The way he told the story was quiet animated! Clay Flinchum

Dunno.... It takes some malice to want to compare all the time
I love how albert comes out and just kills a solo, grabs his hat and is out the door...that's why he will always be the man.
Always leave them wanting more!
One of the true guitar greats. Totally totally underrated...
My favourite King.

What a treat to see Mick Taylor & Albert King jamming with each other! Yeah!
T-Bone would have been proud to hear this outstanding rendition
Albert King was/is still the greatest! Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, among the best ever. Mick T. was so young there. Nice clip!
The first time I heard Albert I thought that I have never heard someone play guitar like this, how on earth does he do that
Albert was The Man! It is such a shame that most of the originals are now gone. What a legacy they have given us though!
THE GREAT , 3 KINGS.
Will NEVER be forgotten.
Recently, RiP The Great , English Blues musician, JohnMayall.
Mentor to all the other younger , Blues Players, ala Eric Clapton, so many more
Doesn,t get any better than that!
Some of Mick Taylors best work is on Mayall,s Blues from Laurel Canyon Album.
Younger generations.... Apreciate this..... Because like this......... Never again....
MICK TAYLOR!!!!!! AWESOME!
Mick taylor really shines. So under rated
If only the Stones could have kept it going with Mick tayllor. He's still the best guitar player they ever had

What an underrated best of all time guitar player and great musician. This man is so much greater than most of them who rank higher tha he.
@dljone9 yep. Mick was always was - and is - a cut above most - such sweet lyrical playing, he just *gets* the blues...
Very few people in the world can sing like this. Awesome isn't a good enough word...
The break at 5.50 is the reason why he is the king.
Play oldies Barbra mason this is the thanks I get
The boss of British blues with the fabulous Albert King! can't miss that.
A blues player with a flying V, playing without a pick......now that's AWESOME!!
