      So true. It's the heart of the feel. You can't teach it, you must live the style to play it.

    • @6SL
      @6SL 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Positively true! Chris H, you nailed it. All of you just now learning, old or young, be sure to get your rhythm chops , chords, double stops etc. down first. Also if I may say you probably don't see massive pedal boards here either. They have their place but learn without FX first otherwise "your" tone will be obscured and you won't be able to feel and hear what you really need to work on nor know where you're at as it relates to your overall playing feel, skill, technique and tone. Hiding behind pedals (unless you already know what you're doing and have your developed signature sound) is kind of like covering up a really good steak with excessive sauce, etc... I guess its OK if its a bad piece of meat to start but but otherwise, condiments sometimes obscure the real taste. learn to play so as to not serve up bad meat at your next gig or jam. In any event, that's the truth in my world lol!

    What a precious gem, just discovered today! It seems SRV still has new material for this world. I’ve heard SRV live at Carnegie at least a 100 times and the funny thing is I always pictured Strehli as black. She is amazing! Great to see him on stage with Jimmy also. His brother said that he played guitar like he was breaking out of jail. I can see that here. What a timeless performance.

It's nice everything he does to keep the blues alive, he's put together a hell of a blues band and he plays the shit out of that guitar, but Stevie was the real deal. @CoryWellsIsHeaven I couldn't agree with you more. I dream about Stevie all the time, like he's still here. Which, of course for many of us, he is. Thanks for sharing. With Stevie's cryin' guitar, and Angela's sexy voice - woohoo dreams are gonna be good tonight!!!! ha!

    Excuse me, a typo. I was speaking of Joe Bonamassa of course. He admits that he gets to playing to many notes. He always gets to playing real fast pretty quick in his solos, me too, but Stevie could play real fast at times but that wasn't the main thing. He would slow it down too, it was just that Stevie made that guitar talk like nobody else. It was the meat and substance of what he played. He stood head and shoulders above all the other greats.

      I wouldn’t say head and shoulders above the greats, that’s just ridiculous, at that point you’re disregarding all the great Guitarists before him.

      Joe is a wanker. But he is a great guitarist for sure. Stevie is a legend. That's where it ends.... 😁

      Yes he did stand above the rest! Something about his passion and intensity that just grabbed you deep inside! He literally made the guitar talk! Lots of greats, but never felt like they made they guitar talk to me. They played fast and well but didn't connect to you soul the way he did!! God rest his soul!

    Icons of the Blues including Angela Strehli, there should have been a few million hits on this song Stevie Ray and Brother Jimmie, Iv'e seen them both a few times and also met them and talked to them. All of them are on fire. It show's you where music has gone to today all about image and Dollar's total crap. I am so fortunate that I lived through this era and saw the very best including Led Zeppelin . Long live the Blues. SRV and his legacy will live forever. Your spirit is with us now .
