    When you are feeling better, would you please do a winter update on your Cacti and other Succulents?

    I have an episcia "pink panther" for 3 years now and the only thing doing it harm is pooring water on the leaves or letting the leaves touching the wet potting mix. When this happen, the leaves dry and fall, but the plant as a whole it is ok. Be careful to avoid leaves when watering with all costs. I keep my plant in a normal household temperature and humidity, close to a window and I make sure to keep the potting mix fairly moist all the time. A big plus for this plant is that the cuttings root very fast so even you make mistakes you will still be able to save the plant on time. Thanks for your video and get well soon!

      Such helpful advice, thank you! I’ll be extra cautious when watering my episcia. Glad to hear cuttings root easily, too - it’s a relief! 🌸😊

      Just to add to this, constantly pinching out prevents the plant from getting too stringy. Through the winter it does need to dry out before watering, but make sure it's no more than a day. Memo, yours is a Cuprea Green Vein. I had one before I gave it away. Hope you feel better soon 🌿💚

    Anthurium on a moss pole:
    So far I managed to repot them to larger pots fast enough and the higher roots went into the pot.
    E.g. my slow A. clarinervium is 3 years old, and has a climbing tendency, but with a 24 cm pot, all of the roots are grown into the pot and the lower bare stem is not visible.
    However, with A. Waroq. I think I will need to get a moss pole soon, because it grows too fast for this trick to work :-)

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for the kind words! 🌱 It sounds like your Anthuriums are perfectly managed. So true about Waroq - they definitely need some extra support as they grow!

    Hey Memo…. You’re unsurprisingly rad today. 🤗

  • @sbaroke
    @sbaroke 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Ha! I just got that aglaonema, the same size as yours. I find them wonderfully pest resistant plants. And they compensate for those dropped leaves with new shoots from the bottom, which hide the bare stems very nicely. They are prone to root rot, so water them like you would succulents, i.e. letting them dry out completely between waterings. You never need to worry about them if you go away for a couple of weeks or so.

    • @SparkleInMoonlight
      @SparkleInMoonlight 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have the same experience with aglaonema. I have some rarer colourful and white ones and they do well in Soil Ninja´s Monstera mix and watering on Airontek´s no. 1 (out of 10) - so I water them quite similar to a sansevieria - every two weeks or so (depends on the size and colour - the White Joy in 12 cm pot gets watered only every 18 days or so now, even under a grow light).

    • @Houseplantygoodness
      @Houseplantygoodness  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Such a great Aglaonema tip - thank you! They really are survivors and I love that they reward us with new shoots! 🌱 I’ll be careful with watering!

    I have a camouflage aglaonema and it should be a lot bigger but I have let it go dry a few times over the 2 years and it kind of reminds me of a Peace ✌️ plant when it has missed a watering. I think that yours will do really well because of your high humidity. And it's amazing that I too recently purchased a sad painted lady that is now living in my Ikea cabinet after a repot and a very encouraging conversation 😀

    I was a little surprised when, a few videos back, you trotted out the Ph. 'Painted Lady.' I remember you calling it "a one trick pony" in your review series 😅 (I think, at least, you called it a good trick.)
    As for giving plants a talking to, a couple of years back I told my Monstera siltepecana "Live or die, I've done all I'm ever going to do for you." She chose life 🤣

    I restarted my huge Painted Lady and now only have a small 3-leaf baby. :D I am just done with some of those huge plants. Don't have any Anthurium on moss poles, but if I had the proper space with sufficient lighting (eyeing your conservatory), I'd love to experiment with mounting. Or even have a large tree fern plant and play with that as a mount. Hope you feel better soon! 🥰

    Im no Episcia expert… but I do have 2 that have been here for years… and need to be chopped regularly.. They grow in not so chunky soil (mainly cocopeat and perlite), not superbright light (also not low light) for 12hours a day and humidity on the higher end (70+ but I am sure they would be fine in lower). The temperature that they grow in is never lower than 18 Celsius so I don’t know how low they can go. Contrary to what the internet tells me… they can be bone dry for a day or 2, no problem, but maybe that is because of the higher humidity… They are heavy drinkers once established (and yes, keep the water away from the leaves!)
    As for pettable plants…. Hoya Calycina is my softest one (yes there are many Hoyas that are hairy… I have some others but the Calycina is the softest to the touch)
    Clear pots are the best!
    I am now confused if I have a plant that isn’t in a clear pot 😂
    Rehabbing Aglaonema Rosy and Frozen year round 😅
    Root rot… stem rot… all sorts of rot… and only those and Alocasias (root)rot on me but Alocasias I sort of have a truce with now that they are in tree fern and warmer conditions… finally…
    Considering calling it quits on the Aglaonema…. But also still want to find something that works permanently for them..
    I have one in pon that hasnt had root rot yet (for over a year) so maybe that will work….. not too fond of pon in general though. My Frozen rotted in tree fern, it stayed too wet (and that is so airy already!!!) so that one is now in tree fern, bark and perlite as a test.
    Aglaonema don’t like the cold… thats when they rot most often… they don’t like soil that stays wet/moist for long and they don’t seem to like dry soil either… (I am also considering net pots) they are a mystery… a beautiful mystery though
    Enjoyed your updates and detailed information about them
    Get wel soon! 🌸

      @Houseplantygoodness  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
