    Amazing video. Didn’t think I’d ever be able to get those bushings in without removing the intake manifold . The tape on the finger tip surprising worked with some finesse. Went to the store and got a small mirror also. Sure this took you several hours to figure out but thanks to you got it done in about 2 hours. Great video, much appreciated 👌🏾

    U were able to do it without removing the intake? Im impressed!!!! Pretty sure this is my problem as well. All new O2 sensors, plugs, wires....reset codes....dummy light came back on within a few hrs.

    Thanks so much for this quality video! I reached in my engine bay and felt for the rod shown to try to put it in the bushing. MIRACULOUSLY I got it in place and fixed it. I’m still in utter disbelief because of the space constraints back there. This video helped me to understand the layout!

      My truck is showing this same P1518 code, it hesitates, misses, and has a rattling that sounds like a pushrod, but it sounds like its coming from the right side of engine, left side of engine, and even underneath the truck you hear that rattle. Truck was running fine, I shut it off and when i started it back thats when all this happened. Did yours do the same way with the rattle, hesitation and missing?

    The tape on the finger trick was pure genius, otherwise, I couldn't have done it without pulling the intake. Mine's a '98, when they still were using 2 IMRC actuators, left and right, and I couldn't see them from any angle. Ended up getting an inspection camera. Thanks again, awesome video.

    Just finished reattaching the linkage. Was a major pain in the butt! I can't understand why Ford would use plastic bushings to hold something that is this hard to get to. I took your advice and used tape(I used duct tape) to hold the bushing onto my single fingertip. The one on the back of the manifold that you can not even see was actually the easiest one to replace. The visible one was more difficult to insert. It took me about 2 hours trying to reattach the linkage. Your video tips were very helpful. Thanks!

    Times like this is when I hate being big and tall. 6'4 360. Tall enough to see it but to big to get my hand back there and get it. I like working on cars too but it kills me to have to take off that intake. And if I don't I'll have to pay like $300 to have someone do it. Something that would be $5 max will end up costing several hundred. No kids either so I can't use that trick.

      Get the whole thing ready to go, and hire a neighborhood kid to stick his hands back there and pop the bushing things in there. Pay kid $10.00.

      I used a screwdriver to push it.. You may wanna use something that won't scratch it.
      It takes some force tho so make sure your other hand isn't in the way.
      Thanks for watching!

    Hey man, We are looking to buy this model truck for 3500 bucks. It only has 130000 miles with standard trans and runs good. Would you please say what issues or problems might we run into down the road? Cheap to work on? We're hoping, of course, for another 100000 trouble free miles. whatcha say? Thank you very much

      The 4.2 is harder to find parts for than the V8s are. Other than that, countless forums are saying the 4.2 makes a better fleet vehicle because they outlast the V8s by almost double the mileage before crapping out. They have less power, but seem to handle the abuse better. The only problems with the 4.2 were in 97/98, it seems that after those years the engines are bullet proof as long as they're maintained.

      @@Dude13450 I know you wrote this comment ages ago, but what are the issues with the '97-'98s? I bought one last year and it's good to know about what might go wrong

    • @Dude13450
      @Dude13450 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ferociousferalferret that I don't know. if its a four cylinder, You would have to look for similar era 240SX issues: same engine.

    It is a good video but it doesn't look anything like a 2000 4.2 I have one and it has the plastic intake that one obviously does not and it is a stock intake on that I would venture to say that that is a 4.6 or lower than 2000 model but still a great video man that's pretty helpful in fact I that is actually a 1999 model I just thought you might want to know that

    • @autotechsteven5421
      @autotechsteven5421 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      billy bristow I did by using a inspection camera and a piece of tape to hold the plastic bushing still tough now I have to take it all apart cause I think the actuator itself is bad
