@@Ben-v6z3s there's one of the IPC stonehearts named Obsidian. She might be a vampire from the video that has all of them trying to judge Aventurine during trial. I guess that since she might be a vampire, so making her utilize bleed and sorta make it like a vampire, that's what the comment was trying to say actually.
I don't think she is going to be Nihility (so far), she is most likely going to be Destruction and maybe her DoT kit will be locked behind ger Eidolons.
It's insane that Kafka is pretty much THE CHARACTER, she's the one even ppl who don't play Star Rail know and she doesn't get the deserved love from the devs. SHAME HOYO SHAME
They shouldn't have made her a DoT unit tbh. The fact that her first banner flopped harder than Blades will always kill me. How do you make a playstyle THAT unappealing
@danielbarnes1241 fr wish she was stun support. Where she can stun enemies thus preventing them from taking turns. Which would play into her hypnotic powers
imagine a character that action advances the DoT characters when the DoT detonates(manual detonations can't action advance, basically a resurgence window for DoT characters for enemy turns, probably easy to do with a summon) that would be so good
Or an Ice Nihility that has Ruan Mei's sakura blossom mechanic (but with more SPD decrease and multiple triggers). This allow an enemy to take turn but then get kicked down in the action bar. Only to get kicked again the second time because it can trigger more than one time unlike Ruan Mei's
Actually just AA enemies instead, but they are strucked by a special type of CC that is similar to freeze but unremovable, it doesn't interact like freeze that can interrupt enemy actions but on top of that extend all debuffs on the enemy
@@asafesseidonsapphire Ruan Mei already gives speed, so might as well. + The unit could extend debuff timers so the debuffs don't disappear before Kafka can detonate them
Apocalyptic Shadow heavily penalizes DoT as a whole. Enemies take little to no damage when not broken, and takes forever to recover from Weakness Break; so DoT can't trigger itself. Here are things that I want to see: - DoT should not be removed after a boss' phase change. - DoT should trigger immediately when the boss is Weakness Broken (this will sort of fix the problem with Apoc Shadow). - DoT can deal Toughness DMG - A character that Action Advances the enemy (including -50% ATK debuff so you don't die) - Crit DoT, but it uses your Effect Hit Rate to determine the Crit Rate. Also the only requirement for a Remembrance Unit is that they have a Memosprite. In other word, it can be just as broad as Nihility's current state (DoT, Debuffer, Crit DPS). Who knows, we might even get a Remembrance Healer.
Also a character which makes any DOT inflicted on the enemy have it's value doubled, while also doubling the amount that specific DOT can stack(so shock can stack two times now), this makes BS way easier to play with enemy AA, while propelling the DMG to a higher level, but in a mechanical way. Also a character which can make debuffs become DOT is an idea that I personally love.
@@lynndylan4674 One character should not dictate & hold back the entire archetype, especially if it's for the greater good. Also technically there's not much of a point in stacking Arcana past 7. Stacking more will do even less damage than triggering it more often. Here is an example: 14 stacks = 408% ATK 7 + 7 stacks = 648% ATK Not to mention that you don't get ANY of the extra benefits from re-triggering it with Kafka (no AoE & no DEF Ignore). Her Ult Vulnerability also doesn't work.
@@AevyCh I’m not saying it’s a bad idea. I love dot in general and anything that can make it good I’ll take it. But those players who sacrificed their resources into swan will feel betrayed as customers if their “dot unit” get left behind in so called “dot meta” which isn’t a good look for gacha game
I think effect hit rate in general is a problematic stat that nihility units are plagued by beyond just being worse than harmonies. You have to build enough for your kit to function completely, whereas harmonies are just trying to hit a stat threshold (some don't even need to) and are just weaker if they can't reach it. On top of that if you build too much ehr it's a wasted stat, I could see a "super" effect hit rate effect like super break making dot and other ehr characters shine more. This would probably be after the early 3.x patches if even at all so rip dot enjoyers. I do think they are intentionally holding out somewhat cause they never made a designated sustain for dot so atleast that's for sure coming.
@@bubblesparksWhile having a support that boosts EHR would be really nice, it also would require whole new builds and farming for Kafka and Black Swan :(
@@iNovak_ñfarming for swan isn't that bad, chances are your BS isn't even that great. Her sig gives a measly 40 ehr and she has 10 in the base kit, between speed and Atk you also need to find a good amount of ehr. As for Kafka, she needs like 28, reframing for her is as simple as a little speed and then Atk for everything else
@@dragonmaster3030 Why would your first thought be that my BS isn't well built? I've stopped farming for her because I'm comfortable with her build at the moment. She has 3.2 ATK, 148 SPD and 117 % EHR without signature. I know it's not perfect, but she does the job and I can focus on farming for other characters.
Funnily enough, Anaxa MIGHT be a DoT support. He's ice nihility, and ice has an interesting synergy with DoT (frozen enemies get action advanced, which means enemies get more turns, which means enemies take more DoT dmg) If Anaxa is a character whose kit is centered around freezing the enemy, that would be really good for DoT teams
One of the problems with dots is that its expire on your opponent turn and enemies are getting increeasingly faster (just take a look at Hoolay) so a support that deploys a field that while active dots don't expire (alongside other buffs) would be pretty good. HSR kits are getting more and more overloaded so of course a new dot unit would have to be overloaded as well to keep up with the current meta. Also because of the current hp inflation, the new dot unit needs to be physical as Bleed scales with the enemy's max hp
This reminds me of Poison teams in Reverse 1999 that's completely on par with other meta teams mainly because of Tuesday who prevents all Poison stacks from expiring while her ult is active, letting Poison proc twice in a turn, allowing all other debuffers to apply Poison, AND allowing the procs to crit. A damage amping support that works this way will greatly benefit HSR's DOT teams.
They can make DoT more flexible, with a harmony that lets everyone proc their element's DoT. They can incorporate freeze, like a nihility that freezes using DoT procs, and whose freeze triggers DoT. Or they can lean towards Black Swan, make a preservation that detonates DoTs when their shields are attacked. I can see a future for DoTs, just that they're probably focusing on the new fancy remembrance units.
I feel like a healer will be better than a preservation and idk why. A physical abundance character that has a talent where every time a target is hit by any teammate, a special version of bleed is inflicted on them that stacks, whenever this character attacks, this special dot will be triggered, they're ult gives one or all of their teammates the ability to trigger all physical dots, they heal via their A2 where everytime a dot is triggered on an enemy, the whole team is healed by a % of the damage dealt by the dots triggered. Their skill increases the ATK and SPD of the whole team while healing the team for a set amount
@@Sncyuki omg that's litterally just my idea with some technicall differences and instead of buffing spd and attack, that healing dot has the side effect of dot vulne% per stack like sampo
I mean, Xueyi was saved by Fugue and Jingyuan by Sunday, so a very specific support WILL be enough in my opinion, especially seeing how broken the average 3.0 character is
As Xueyi main i don't think she was "saved", she already was the best 4* DPS in the game just because she works with the Superbreak comp that got a lot of support in version 2, the only drawback is that unless you put her the Firefly LC, she needs to go hybrid build and that's hard to get in relics (she needs a lot of crit dmg, crit%, break chance and speed while she haves over 2200 ATK bare minimum).
Yup. Jing Yuan has been consistently getting mini buffs of new characters synergizing with him for a year, but it's Sunday who actually pushes him to relevance. Same with DoT. We may have Ruan Mei and Huohuo for now, but a specific ultra tweaked DoT support can push DoT to relevance. #hopium lol
@@ShadowFri3ndher biggest weakness is the same as boothill’s - her superbreak scaling is LOW. Her intial break scaling is really high so weakness breaks are insanely good damage for her, but you only get one - hence why superbreak wasn’t that great a buff for her but why fugue ‘saved’ her, since she can get a second break off.
There's two mechanics that could be adapted for a DoT support that already exist in the game, in Simulated Universe - there's DoT criting and there's Suspicion, which increases DoT damage when you overstack them - if memory serves, for every DoT stack that you overcap you apply a stack of suspicion that increases DoT damage by 1% and caps at 99, decreasing by 1 every time DoTs trigger. DoT crits are less fun, since they're just a roundabout way of saying "your DoTs do more damage", but they could be implemented pretty easily - The new character, Dot Mei, has a Talent that says "DoT effects on enemies have a chance to hit critically equal to X% of Dot Mei's critical hit rate up to Y%. Critical DoT hits do additional damage equal to Z% of Dot Mei's critical hit damage up to A%". Suspicion would be way cooler and actually change the way DoT plays in an interesting way, relying more on application than detonation, but you'd need to release a strong DoT applier with it because if you're trying to overcap DoTs to increase Suspicion stacks, Black Swan is basically shooting yourself in the foot. Alternatively it could just work on DoT application rather than overstack, but that seems less enjoyable to play with.
Suspicion is applied when dots are applied not when they over cap so black swan would be goated for this team also imagine if the character was a healer so black swan kafka and Acheron triple carry team could be brought back into the meta also since ehr is a thing i think dot mei would use ehr over 100% to determine dot crit rate and damage and when dot cr goes over 100% its turned to more crit dmg P.S. suspicion decreases by 2 at the end of the enemies turn not once per dot triggered
I think the answer to making DOT feel special is pretty simple. They can do plenty of things. Make all future DOT characters detonate their own DOT, make a DOT support allow for multiple detonation per instance, introduce more stacking mechanics or something else to make refreshing DOTs feel more impactful, etc.
I agree with this! maybe a tweaked version of that one nihility su blessing where hitting an enemy triggers a dot status thats already applied to the enemy?
I see everyone talking about dot supports but i dont see anyone talking about a nihility dot healer for like the first viable triple carry team of kafka black swan and acheron like even if the character isnt used in that team acheron would have a nihility healer
Oh, I dream of a DoT healer every day. Someone who heals the entire team when their own DoT activates, or who heals the character who applied the DoT when it activates.
If dots would actually apply Break Damage, that would already be a huge buff ngl. It can't even do that. It literally only tickles the enemy and that is sad.
DoTs each count as individual hits for the Dreamjolt Troupe mechanics so it could be possible to have them introduce a character that can give them like a 5 break value per tick of DoT so that it's like 'corrosion' and 'eats' armor 😮
It's not difficult for them to make a DoT character built around the DoT you get from toughness break who also causes DoTs to reduce toughness bars. They can do something like applying every break effect version of the DoTs currently on the enemy upon toughness break, then those DoTs scale on attack rather than break effect. But I feel like this is all too "break effect minded" toughness break isn't the end all be all
@@ortah2616 Yeah not to mention with the True Damage meta coming up we can get into DoTs going through defense better since it's inside-out damage and have it be a new support or something, still lots of options
I think some people would understand by now, hsr meta is its characters banner. If wanna see dot becoming meta again, just wait for new dot 5*, then hoyo will change endgame for dot favors. Instead of balancing the game, they went towards catered meta and increasing hp.
Jiaoqiu actually does fixes one of dots problems that is enemies not transfering their dots to the next wave when they die. He applies debuffs on them as they spawn and as they attack, so even tho he offers less buffs than RM or robin, he has his own personal damage and helps BS stack arcana too.
This may just be the reverse 1999 player in me, but it would be interesting if they had a characrer like Reverse's tuesday. Long story short, Tuesday with her passive ability can let poison (the games DoT) crit and her ultimate basically sets up a field that you can think of as a bubble where your goal is to fill it up (or stack) as many poison as possible on the enemy. And as long as the bubble is up, poision can still take effect but not tick down its turn counter. And when the bubble bursts, every poison stack is removed and each is activated at the same time. Now, im not sure because Reverse 1999 and Honkai Star Rail have two wildly different battle systems, but it's a thought.
i feel like the odd one out when it comes to liking DoT cause a lotta people got into that playstyle cause they loved Kafka. well, i got Kafka just cause i liked Sampo lol. all guides said "Kafka is good for Sampo" so i got her and been playing DoT since her release. My teams now are Kafka+Black Swan, Luocha/Aventurine as sustain, and for the 4th spot I kept switching between Sampo, Guinaiffen, Robin or Ruan Mei. Fingers crossed that they free Screwllum from the Hoyo NPC basement and perhaps make him a support that makes DoT crit or something (yes im a Screwllum fan too so the copium is extra)
you are so real for this, i'm the same way (tho i do love kafka too... sampo is just my favorite) now i bring kafka + sampo everywhere with me in overworld (but swap him out for black swan in endgame barring highly specific circumstances) i am really attached to these characters, i hope hoyo makes dot shine again one day
I think following the concept of the break units in a whole, there should be a character that either allows DoTs to crit based on its own crit rate with fixed crit dmg , or with a skill (or ult) that gives the team the ability to trigger more than their own DoTs when they attack. I feel like the Divergent Universe equations, outside of being busted, kind of give an idea of what future characters’ kits could potentially look like (even if they’d be extremely tuned down)
Honestly we need a character that allows DOT to deal agnostic Toughness DMG, and allows you to either proc all DOT's on the target when they receive Break DMG by 200% of the multiplier.
i don't think dot crit would help. we already need to balance 160+ speed 4k+ attack and high effect hit rate for DOT, it would be too many stats vs like super break where you build 160+ speed and 170+ BE only
@@cyberzh0rafm they could just make a dot version of robin that has 100%/150% dot crit and scale more with crit investment on them without needing to build crit on ur actual dot unit
@cyberzh0rafm i was thinking that the DoTs would crit based on the hypothetical new unit, not based on the DoTer’s (i.e Kafka or BS), so their skill/ult transfers their own crit rate to the whole team but only for DoTs
The simplest fix is to generate a support who randomly proc's dots on every or every other turn. Make it hit a random enemy's dots. Alternatively, have it scale dots damage based on number of times it takes dot damage while on the field.
I don’t think it’s time to doom dot in version 3 yet since in V2 we also had multiple different gimmicks. Superbreak may have been the most focused on, but FUA got a lot of love and we saw Acheron, basically an alternative hyper carry team. The fact that they’re introducing a new path doesn’t mean they’ll ONLY focus on it. I hope.
Tl;dr: dot will have to wait a while before it can get revived, and even longer before it gets any meta relevance If they’re making a new path then they gotta flush it out like imagine if we only got tighnari collei dmc and nahida in v3 of genshin we wouldnt have a dps (tighnari is a quick swap) or a healer or a shielder, and since new path means new weapon types people will be strained to pull for rememberance units because they dont wanna use a 3 star weapon and cant spend for a 5 star weapon even if they give us an event 4 star weapon or a new herta bond weapon the people that miss the event weapon would rather get the herta bond one and that one takes a long time to save up and get and refine to s5 then there’s the people who havent farmed artifacts for summons bc yk they gotta get a new relic set when it drops and people prob dont have a good set for them already unless they have jing yuan so pretty much the only thing you can get for a rememberance unit rn that’ll be garunteed to be useful after 3.0 drops is the planar set for summons
@@darksplash873 it probably wasnt the best tl;dr but what i ment is that the game will be focusing on rememberance for a while so dot will be put low on the priority list like when the fua meta came with adventurine there was a fua unit in every version with adventurine, robin, jade, march 7th, yunli, moze, and fei xiao. until they started to swap to super break with lingsha, rappa, and fugue
@ yeah but my point still stands. You’re just repeating the same thing from the video that my point counters. They never focus on just ONE thing in a version and introduce different units. They’ll mostly focus on Remembrance, but that doesn’t mean they will never put out any other path anymore and there’s a chance there will be a new dot dps and/or support there at one point or another
@@darksplash873 yeah they will introduce new and different things but the chances of a new dot character is about as likely as a nihility healer, not impossible just improbable unless they drop a unit for a future team comp or a unit for an old team comp of which dot is
One avenue they could take is a support that makes ally dots crit based on their own stats. If needed could also make their own direct damage unable to crit to keep personal damage within support ranges. Another route for defensive could be a shielder who leeches dots into shields and those shields can do retaliation damage based on stored shields. Keeps the theme of damaging the enemies on their turns at least. but i'm a dumb idiot so these are just some things I think would be neat.
yes! I always thou about DoT critting, maybe even make the support give DoT its own crit rate and damage, that would just be perfect and quite honestly, I feel like kafka should have been able to do that because it always felt like her kit is lacking, the new chars just proves that because of how stacked they are, ig bad early design, she was in beta afterall
I feel like if they want to introduce a mechanic to Dot, one way , though boring, is to make it like superbreak. Basically the Dot Harmony character can give a buff to all allies that will make their attacks to enemies detonate all existing Dots at a certain multiplier when the enemy is weakness broken.
@lybula Give the Dot Harmany support a overloaded kit, that gives allies weakness ignore (Like Fugue) , weakness breaking efficiency (RM), buffs Spd, Atk, Dmg bonus, All Res pen. Also, make that when an enemy weakness is broken, they will apply the four BBWS Dot to that enemy similar to that one weighted curio in DU. To make that Dot harmony support extra broken, just add energy regeneration to allies and action advance in their kit.
That moment when non DOT players say Action Advancing enemies is the fix.... No... No it's not that leads to LESS DoT applied. If anything you want MORE speed on your DoT units instead of the other way around. Why do you think Robin is used hmmmmm There are multiple fixes in the game already. Borehole, Spore, DoTCriting, Nihility Equation, Def Shred, DoT Energy Regen, Make DoTs Super break, shields or heals on DoT damage, Suspicion stacks and it's Upgraded version. And of course more DoT characters with Unique stacks (arcana)
Aside from the last thing you mentioned (about arcana) none of those things are implimented in characters which means you cant use them in end game content which is where they’re needed most sim uni and div uni are easy when you stack blessings where as even if there were 2-4 characters with all the things mentioned (split between them ofc) dot would struggle to claw back into the meta due to the concept of damage over time when you ideally want damage right now, right here, exactly when you apply it
@@polarroars68 just because a character doesn't have said mechanic doesn't mean that will never happen. If they just use like 2-3(depending on which ones) of the listed things and slap it onto a brand new unit then it will help tremendously especially if they put it on a support unit The ways to make DoT meta exist the devs just aren't doing it. As for the whole turn cycle thing, Robin and high speed Kafka is used for a very specific reason so the dots detonate more often without worrying about waiting on an enemies turn The only thing that would be kinda double edged is slowing enemies but that's not a bad thing since it allows for more DoT stacks to be applied which is what they need anyways and is why Action Advancing enemies is the worst thing to do for DoT comps
@@NiaTheMilkTank i do hope a unit comes out with some of those things and it will help tremendously but it wont be enough to put dot back in the meta and while ways to boost dot does exist the devs wont be using any for a while unless the unit is a rememberance unit
@@polarroars68 yeah dots just screwed for like half a year + But the whole fixation about meta is weird also if the team comp can consistently and fully clear in like 1 cycle after all the buffs. Not everything needs to zero cycle especially when it's being compared to a full Feixiao comp
Concept: introduce an ice nihility unit, that specializes on freezing, with a detonatable ice DoT, and make it so, that debuffs don't expire upon being unfrozen, giving DoT overall a lot more damage procs.
@skyronartz9593 I don't think disassociation from SU does that. But the remembrance path resonance from golden gears and swarm disaster, that gives you access to the "Aeonian River" effect, I think it's called, extends debuff/disassociation duration and behaves in a similar way I described. But I'd have to double check to be sure.
"Later Babe, new RedFlaim vid just dropped" Also what one of the top comments in the Aventurine video about having a Preservation character with Quake mechanic from SU would probably be good with this; 1. New shielder should have a way to trigger DOTs despite being a Preservation and not Nihility via Quake. 2. The Quake activates BOTH when the character attacks just like the DU Equation thingy and also when enemy attacks. That would give another incentive to both add a new Preservation but also buffs the DOT team by giving them a proper sustain character and also finally officially introducing Quake outside of SU/DU
I will continue to say that the buff i want fot DoT is a swirl mechanic creating new DoTs with different effects which can also incentivize running different elements on the extra team slots.
I actually might have an idea that will work for DOT damage. What if you added a support that triggers every stack of dot immediately all at once? Or multiplied the stacks then triggered them? That would definitely work insanely well with a dot team. It might also boost black swan and acherons usefulness at the same time because if you multiply the stacks Acherons ult would trigger more often and if you activate the stacks a lot of dot damage activates all at once. That might work and help make dot relevant once again. Then a passive that increases dot dmg.
I think the best idea for dot rn is to play into the acheron kafka black swan triple carry comp rn like a sustain that sustains based on dot dmg and applies stacks of suspicion (from sim uni) to give Acheron debuff stacks
I would imagine a dot harmony character that grants all dot and debuff characters double infliction for example Black Swan’s Arcana went from 5 to 10. Especially when HP inflation is about to come, it would make dots Viable
@ I would say one stack as long as the debuff was implanted once per action. There’s a difference One action = One implant debuff no matter the stack Two actions = Two implant debuff no matter the stack
@eleinaedelweiss6215 it would do absolutely nothing for acheron. Acheron can only get 1 stack per action no matter, (except for her lc). If an enemy attacks a unit holding trend of universal while in jiaoqius ult, acheron still only gets 1 stack even tho different debuffs are being given by different units for different reasons, as it's still only 1 enemy action
I hope first and foremost they address the HP inflation cause its just annoying and not fun anymore which is sad and its getting worse with each patch, after that lets hope they give Hypercarry and DoT some buffs
I think I have an idea. An healer that heals based on atk% with her skill and increases atk of allies (like huohuo), when they use the ultimate , hits all enemies and applies a dot(low DMG) increases atk and restores energy based on how many TYPE dot enemies have(so it's good in both single target and multi target). Talent says that if there are more than 3 type of dots on one of the enemies than ALL dots do more DMG.
And for the support I think that we need someone that with the skill it's like bronya but increases the atk% and makes the target apply a dot based on the ally atk%, when the ultimate is used apply to all enemies a dot (high DMG, but max 1 stack) and fast forward all enemies+ if there are more than 3 type of dot the enemies have their Def decreased. For the talent I think they can make her skill positive /neutral by making recover skill points after ultimate based on how much dot there are ( if 3 recovers 1, if 4 recovers 2)
Imagine a summoner which summons for the enemy team like a cursed floating doll right beside each target. If the target is hit any effect given to the target also given to the doll and every time the doll is hurt by either dot or we hit it ourselves the target also got hurt. It can solve the problem of dot being so slow and aoe dmg dealers also get some buff along the way. Plus new strats to play with.
here's how i fix dot.... I make an abundance char.. but instead of fua healing like lingsha, she has a life steal dot that can be detonated by kafka for on demand out of turn healing aswell as being able to detonate he own dot with an ult and the ability to extend the turn ammount of dot. and then all of a sudden? that's a char that could keep dot going for nearly a year
I feel like Jiaoqiu was so close to being an amazing DoT support, but then he got changed and got spread out to be a support for Acheron as well. Like having someone who (while the ult is active) can transfer the stacks of his dot to new enemies coming in or new rounds, and at the same timing giving an ult buff is so great! Like we need someone who can do that but amplified the dot vulnerability of the enemies like the suspicion debuff works in SU and DU. I looove doing DoT in those bc you can have some insane damage! Also having someone who can heal the team when DoTs to damage like the boon in SU and DU would be great too. It originally sounded like Jiaoqiu had something like that in his kit which would have been amazing! Its sad bc i always focused on break when i started but then realized how good DoT did on bosses in the early game, and was so excited with i got Kafka (especially bc i accidently got Black Swan so them together were unstoppable) then with super break, break just got even better, but now like you said with the HP increases and everything i feel like DoT is getting so hard to use outside of SU, DU and minor battles/boss (its my main team to grind for trace and level items lol) Maybe we need someone who makes it so DoT does like + a % of the enemies max hp so the more hp the enemy has the more potential dot can do! lol
Unless specific event that require DoT. It's always better to hit the enemy as hard as you can to end the fight quickly before they hit back with whatever effect that could end you. Even if there are buff it still the fact that you have to waste time setting the DoT up instead of just hitting the enemy. Like DoT should be an added bonus not the main damage.
I was super happy when I managed to pull Kafka and Black Swan during their shared banner (I tried to also go for Robin but unfortunately I'm not that lucky), and I had so much fun tearing through DU where I didn't have to worry about being too lazy to grind materials. It really sucks that a team that I'd kind of hyped up in my head got completely outpaced by FUA and Break. Also, I really love how you explain things. Keep up the good work👍
It's crazy because Fugue introduced exo toughness bar so I feel like the support character , Which I will call K, could have something in their kit that allows all characters to detonate all dots on the character while also applying a debuff that buffs DoT damage, this synergizes well with Kafka's Blast hit skill and ult as well as Black Swan's blast hit skill. This will also help produce more stacks for Black Swan. This will also be able to increase Kafka's 70% dot detonation to at least 90% or higher since it's counted as it's own DoT detonation based on K's Atk + a certain number. Their basic attack and skill would be blast hits so they can deal the maximum amount of damage with their own dot detonation. The ultimate depending on the path of the character could buff all ally atk and dot by a certain number while also advancing the enemies by a small amount.
This sounds cool if this character was a healer too then you could play acheron black swan and Kafka and acheron would have a nihility sustain meaning more ults for acheron, faster weakness breaks for black swan, more stacks for arcana, and more arcana stacks for acheron to detonate
this is my concept for a nihility rememberance support • having an ult field that instead of reapplying dots and having a ‘max stack’ with dots it scales up to a certain amount like bs •when u apply a dot the amount will double to help with the dot ramping in battle •and having like a cool rememberance passive which allow like sort of a summon with rememberance which persists through waves and is basically a ticking time bomb where after a certain % of dots triggered on a field the enemy with the most dots will detonate all dots in a blast attack and explode doing like half or 75% of the original damage kinda helps with the rising hp inflation and seems like a fun concept
I hope for a DoT support that freezes the enemy since frozen enemies get 50% action advance upon thawing out. But I'm sure DoT won't be forgotten. Encounter design can help the archetype, too. The more actions enemies take, the more they'll suffer from DoTs. DoT PFs already have Action Advance built in, so that's the obvious thing to do for a future support.
i love love looove the mechanic that heals and increases energy based on when the DoTs detonate, and i think it would be supperr cool to see it in a character
I think they have plans for dot. Since there was a mechanism in some event , where whenever a dot is applied the enemy action advanced forward and reduce damage dealt by enemy.
a type of dot support that i just made up off the top of my head while watching this video would be a nihility support with a vodoo design, making it a summon or memosprite (in which case, remembrance character) that can be affected by the same dot as 1 (or multiple) enemy but has an insanely high speed which makes it take more turns in a cycle and once its hp is depleted it bursts into doing all the accumulated damage to the vodoo target, the same support could have a passive talent that makes allied dot crit according to their own crit stat (like fugue permanent exo toughness and super break) and their vodoo doll hp to scale according to their own hp (like 600% of the user's hp) which would make it a support scaling on crit dmg/hp. Lastly give its basic attack a trace that makes it inflict some hp% damage dot, like 10-15% of the enemy's hp every turn (reduced by their defense and resistances of course) and make it a physical unit to go along the physical dot doing hp% damage and there you go, dot fixed. As a sidenote, the vodoo doll could be a summon or memosprite standing as a target right above the selected enemy, which means it would be affected by everything that is done to the target, for example kafka's dot procs or accumulate double arcana on the target.
Just make a support that makes the enemies not lose the debuff duration on their next turn. 2 epiphany turns, more arcana stacking, more Kafka damage. Also give them a dot or action advance depending on the path, add some atk, dmg% and dot damage buffs and its the perfect dot support.
I remembered writing a concept kit for a harmony dot character a while ago, though now that I think of it it might be way too underpowered. The concept I thought of was a character who alters the effects of dots depending on what dots were on the enemy, though the dot with the corresponding element won't benefit from the buff (i.e wind giving other dots the ability to stack, fire giving dots aoe, lightning extending a dot's duration and physical giving dots an additional instance of damage within a percentage of the target's hp), her ult puts her into an enhanced state where when she attacks, the target instantly gets fully action advanced while not being able to attack, effectively taking a free instance of dot dmg and delaying their next attack.
Then you would also need to build crit rate, crit damage which would lower your effect hit rate or attack. So you would also need to add a significant amount of crit damage and crit rate to the buff which could be exclusive to dots but it would still only be a damage boost and to be a buff it would need to be better than what ruan mei or robin can offer, or it has to be on a healer or you run double support. So just making them crit doesn't really do anything other than increasing the damage by a bit.
@@fluttersyy You could use a fixed crit rate but even at something like 50% cc and 100% cd you would only get a 50% damage boost to dots which isn't bad since it's multiplicative but not a lot stronger than the alternative harmony supports and it's just a boring damage buff and nothing else.
An interesting idea I’ve thought of is a DoT support who can allow DoT damage to sort of infect other enemies, kind of like how Sampo’s Eidolon can shift is talent dot stacks from 1 enemy to another once that first enemy dies, only with the stipulation that that spread occurs once the DoT is first applied or when a DoT detonates. This would allow DoT comps to have a prevalence in game modes such as pure fiction where you want to chain as much actions as possible, only instead you chain dots from one enemy to the rest. This would work excellently since in PF, enemies that come in once others are killed have a high first action value, so chaining DoT from one enemy to the rest gives more immediate and consistent damage. I have 2 other ideas that I come up with while writing this out. While the initial concept helps DoT in PF, the first will help DoT on a general idea and the second will help MoC and AS more, these two concepts being a support that makes it so Dot damage (either from enemy turns or from detonation) is applied to other enemies in addition to the initial enemy; and secondly a DoT support that allows DoT stacks to be uncapped (or at least have the stack cap raised). The first would allow Kafka dependent comps to be able to do more targeted damage while being able to deal with weaker enemies without relying on AoE ultimates, and the second would allow for non Kafka dependent comps to be able to work (say a comp with Luka as a main DPS being able to apply multiple bleed stacks and detonate all of them with enhanced basic attack). The first idea would help with PF and consistent AoE DoT damage, the second would allow for more burst AoE DoT damage, and the last would allow for more single target DoT damage.
DoT is failed FuA. The problem with DoT is their dependent on Enemy's turn compared to various triggers that FuA chars has in their kit. The thing is You CAN'T MANIPULATE enemy's turn because it will be net negative to our advantage. Making them take turns earlier will result to our death and waste the DoT we want to stack. While making them slower will result to our DoT not get triggered anytime soon.
All they have to do is make a support that manipulates the enemy’s turn. If it stuns them and say accelerates the enemy’s turn every time by 10% when they are inflicted with a DOT then that wouldn’t decrease DOT survivability and would increase damage.
Here are some ideas I got for a DoT support that could maybe help the team without being just a boost of DoT dmg : - Contagion Effect: Each turn, DoTs have a 30% chance to duplicate onto another random enemy. - Forced Acceleration: Advances enemy actions without letting them attack. - Multi-Tick DoT: DoTs have a chance to trigger multiple times per tick. (mby like 30%) - Max HP DoT Scaling: DoTs deal a percentage of the target’s max HP as extra damage. - Break DoT Detonation: When an enemy is Broken, all their DoTs activate immediately.
honestly, DOT shouldn't be buffed. the real problem about it is that it just suck as a damage type. it dose regular dmg but can't crit, the break dot scale of BA but regular characters dot dose not, making it want to builds both BA and atk and EHR because it's a debuff. instead of more damage they need to give dot a supportive ability, for example: fire dot can reduce fire res, making Himeko gunifen and Asta better at support and dps. or make lightning characters get energy when dealing damage to anemys with lightning dot, making Serval and Kafka(and her lightcone) better.
I think disassociation is the answer here. It’s a thing in simulated universe, but I think in this stage of the game we can put it on a nihility support unit, make it able to be put on frz res units, and amplify dot damage when active and also “preserves” debuffs. Make it so that it also doesn’t delay enemies turn cycles and just prevents their actions.
Wait, I've got it. A Rememberance support unit whose Memosprite's turn *counts as the enemies' turn*, triggering all DoTs fully as if all of their turns just started without counting down their duration, maybe whose action gets advanced each time a DoT is applied/refreshed. Throw in other support benefits like DoT damage amps and/or defense shred against DoTs, maybe another unique mechanic (Super DoTs? stack cap overlimit?), and we got something. This also makes using DoT in "time trial" game modes like MoC and Apoc WAY more viable, since having fast DoT appliers will make more "turns" happen without actually waiting on enemy turns AND not allowing enemies to just wreak havoc with infinitely sped-up turns.
They can add a support that changes the main dot weakness: doing the damage during the enemy's turn. They can add the dot turn in the time list, separated from the enemies (like they are doing with the summons) Then, they can scale dot speed with the caster speed or add some advance forward mechanic to dots to buff them (like lingsha's rabbit)
Tl;dr: dot can work in main stream team comps if they just got a bit more creative I think dot’s best chance at meta relevance is assimilation like imagine a nihility healer who has a talent that heals based on dot dmg delt to the enemy and different types of dot increase that, suddenly kafka is a healer, acheron has a nihility healer, black swan’s arcana doing multiple types of dot makes her a healer, and the support has a lot more that their power budget can use bc its only their talent, their skill can apply a bleed (bc bleed does %hp dmg), and their ult can make everyone trigger dot dmg when attacking or it allows dot to crit. They could also make a dot character that makes follow up attacks add dots and makes them explode when a new dot is added. They could make a character that makes dot deal toughness dmg allowing dot to be in super break teams. Or since we’re going into a summon meta they could add a dot character who’s summons add dots and the character themselves makes the dots crit
I have two ideas for DoT buffs 1 A harmony character that enables DoT crit and shares his/her Crit Rate and Damage to the ally 2 A a Nihility character that snapshots the enemies current DoT and turns it into a "snapshot" fir mby 3 turns, this snapshot deals 100% of the DoT snapshotted and removes the DoT from the enemy so your DoT can reapply it for potentially double Damage
Itd be interesting if there was a support that multiplied the amount of damage DoTs do based on how much the DoT gets refreshed. It could be a way for characters over-stacking and refreshing DoTs to actually make use of high DoT application.
Crit DoT is an option for a DoT focused harmony. Or alternatively, DoT procs will deal toughness dmg. For sustains, we can incorporate the SU blessings that grant energy and hp when they are detonated/triggered.
I think a 5* DoT support like Asta would be great. Maybe even with a Ult that deploys a field which increases speed and allows all allies to trigger the DoT's on enemies for more consistency.
A kit design that was in my mind was: Harmony, fire Talent: each attack can apply up to 5 stacks of character dot, depending on how many enemies are hited. this dot can accumulate up to a maximum of 18 stacks and lasts for 3 turns Basic: just a basic but hitts 3 enemies Skill: buffs all alies for 3 turns and gives them a buff that can make them detonate all of their personal dots when they aplie a new dot, or add a new stack to their existing dot Ult: this ult does not use energy and instead is like feixiao and Acheron's. This ult costs 7 stacks and character can guard up to 9. Each stack is gained after a diferent dot is detonated. This ult attacks in area (5 enemies), but firstly increases all dot's to HALF of their maximum stacks, if said dot has more than half stacks this ult does not increase said stacks. Then the character attacks, and by the end of the ult creates a field that makes all enemies gain all the dot stacks that were present when character activated their ult. Technique: makes the character gain 1 stack of their ult, up to a maximum if 2 Acescion 1: by using ult character can detonate it's special fire dot even if the skill buff is not activated Ascencion 2: by the beginning of a new battle character starts with 2 ult stacks, instead of the usual 0 stacks Ascencion 3: when the character's skill buff is activated the characters who were buffed can deal 25% of their usual toughness damage to enemies who do not have their weaknesses and uppon attacking the enemie action will be increased based in how much toughness damage the attacking alie would make. THIS ACTION ADVANCE FOR ENEMIES DOES NOT WORK IN BOSSES WHO ARE WEAKNESSES BROKEN. (Translation of my idea: if the enemie is weak to the attacking character element, it would take their turn emediatly and take all the dot damage. In case the enemie is not weak to the character element, their action will be increased by 25% tanks to the toughness damage that this trace gives) S1 LC: uppon using their skills, the LC gives an extra buff that increases all the alies dot damage by 15% and everytime an enemie dies by dot usage all characters take turn Eidolon 1: the increase of dot stacks that their ult gives now can increase character special dot to it's maximum stackability E2: the maximum of character special dot stacks is now 40 E4: the ult can now increase all dot stacks to it's maximum and also as long as the field is active the character personal dot lasts as long the character is alive E6: the ult can detonate all dot's and make them last as long as the character who applied them are alive (I choose to only make possible for the character to detonate other people's dots at their E6 to give Kafka an utility in this team)
I think it would be interesting to have a DOT sustain that heals whenever a DOT activates but their twist is they have a kit built around action advancing the enemies. They could also minimize the damage taken due to more enemy actions could be debuffing enemy dmg whenever they apply DOT or something if its too much for the team to take
Some idea i thought of back in 2.2 was making an Ice DOT that could deal extra damage depending on the speed of the enemies. It would give a new type of dot for the team but also counter speed creep from the enemies as well
Man, I’m really feeling DoT getting harder to play each patch. But the fact that it’s such a fun playstyle doesn’t change for me. I remember someone speculating that it appears like Hoyo would only release one DoT character per new region/patch, and I would be fine with that.
Just a rando here playing since day one who loves DOT and has thought about this a lot- Things I think that would make for a great DOT Support or DPS kits/mechanics (obviously each unit would have a easy DOT application in addition to the other effects- and DOT damage scaling can be attack, defense, speed of enemy, based on unit kits respectively): *DOT Nihility Support: Enables "additional damage" to each individual DOT trigger-(like robin for DOT) and DOTs can reduce enemy toughness bars as well. increase all allies effect hit rate and reduce all enemies effect resistance. *DOT Harmony Support: Enables DOTs to ignore defense/crit/true damage for DOT(Pick one). DOTs produce energy for ultimate's in order to increase ult uptime. DOT's damage buff increases by a X% before DOTs proc and can stack based on number of DOT's applied(the more DOT's the more ignore/crit/damage boost you get). Skill or ULT can "sleep" a target for one turn that they have to "wake up" from. (Acts kind of like Ruan Mei's break extension-but not tied to breaking the enemy just sleeps them for one turn) Random DOT will re-trigger when attacked by anyone in "sleep" state and enemy in sleep state has X% DOT vulnerability (sleep state and cannot be reapplied to same enemy until enemy has recovered) *DOT Abundance: DOTs can Heal, boosts allies defense and Attack stats on DOT triggers, enemies action advances when attacked and 100% base chance to apply an additional DOT stack to enemy based on the attacking allies' element.(The faster the enemy goes, the more buffs you get.) Scales off of Effect Hit Rate. *DOT Remembrance: DOT triggers at the start of every ally turn as well enemy turns and extends duration of DOT up to certain turn count, summon applies random AOE DOT each time it attacks, ult gives all Types of DOT at max stacks and applies to all enemies based on effect hit rate. *DOT Preservation: DOT triggers build small but strong shields that apply bleed when hit by an enemy, high taunt value on unit and when a preservation unit is hit trigger all DOTs on attacking enemy *DOT Hunt: Reapplies all DOT effects on battlefield and additional DOTs to one single target then attacks target triggering all DOT effects and their break trigger effects as if the enemy was broken by every element type (kind of like a rainbow Main DPS Luka) *DOT Erudition: DOTs pass to defeated enemies, have increased stacking capabilities, extended duration, pass from wave to wave. Dots have a "shatter" effect like the MOC buff from a while back or black swans dot explosion at a certain number of her stacks. *DOT Destruction: DOT drains allies HP for high DOT Damage and Attack boosts, HP lost is stored for a massive "DOT Eruption" to restore all allies HP and trigger DOT effects multiple times Basic 4-star DOT kits/traces/talents that would be good (Just spit-balling) *Boost all allies attack. DOT Damage Type triggers Follow up attack re-triggering dot effect at X% of original DOT applied for each instance, like a Herta kuru-kuru for every DOT stack for example. (helps emphasize applying many DOTs as opposed to just one or two big ones and doubles all the effects of DOT) *Reduce enemies Effect res, defense, and attack increase allies effect hit rate, attack, and defense equal to amount reduced like DOT syphon effect (stackable and progressive- enemies weaken DOT strengthens as battle progresses) *Entanglement counts as a DOT and can be triggered by DOT Effects, all DOTs are break DOTs and scale like break damage (hybrid break DOT kits) *A character that simply increases the flat damage multiplier of DOTs by a good amount
I was thinking of a Persona 5 thing where **Technical** damage exists. By doing casting a skill over an existing DoT debuff/state of an enemy (i.e. Using Garu, a Wind-based attack) on a burned enemy results in a *Technical/Technique* damage, inflicting even greater damage. At best, it doesn't even need Critical and would only require Attack stat to amplify it, and EHR to proc debuffs.
Here’s a cool idea: DoT support who’s DoT counts as every flavor of DoT(easier to hit BS’s arcana ceiling), every time it activates it counts as if all 4 types of DoT activated at once(this will also be additive with other DoT effects so if enemy has shock and arcana as well as this special DoT it will gain 6 stacks of Arcana). Also throw in crit for DoT where the CR and CD of each DoT is based on this unit’s CR/CD stats so no need to build crit on the other units. Also give them a trace that can scale their own DoT damage with their crit value to compensate for not being able to wholly invest in attack
i feel like something that could happen for DOT support could be like "skill targets an ally, and when any enemy takes DOT damage, that target ally will have their action advanced by 2.5%" or something along those lines. could also be something to make a target enemy(probably only one) take DOT multiple times rather than just once
I want DoT support that gives energy per DoT tick. Before Sunrise is legitimately the best way to amp damage for DoT if you have both Kafka and Black Swan. This also opens up future DoT characters to focus on either applying more DoT or Detonate. Other ideas I think that might work is having DoT's deplete the Weakness Break gauge on tick regardless of weakness type so that Break DoT hybrid can become viable. Having a character both Detonate and Damage Amp the DoT but also decay 1 turn of the stack thereby frontloading the damage. A DoT support that action advances the entire enemy team but also has a high chance to stun the enemy so that retriggering DoT's isn't as useless.
Make a support that removes the limit on dot stacks as a passive and maybe increase dmg. Then have a skill that doubles the stacks given while increasing all of the existing dots’ dmg by a fixed amount. Then have an ultimate that can detonate dots while either having them have a certain percentage of defence ignore, or have an all type toughness reduction. Then have it so the ultimate has another effect that when another unit detonates enemy dots, they will also have the same effect as defence ignore or toughness reduction all the while increasing the number of dots present on the enemy.
we already have Ruan Mei who is perfect for DoT. She gives speed, break efficiency, break damage bonus (which is also important for the break DoT values which can be retriggered by Kafka and other units), damage bonus, double DoT trigger (when enemies are under her flower, they trigger DoT once, and another when they actually go as their next turn after dealy is 50% faster as after freeze). And if you have her eidolons, she gives def ignore and attack bonus. Everything else you can get from the relics
I think the best buff that DoT can get isn't on the damage multipliers per se, but on the amount of activations and the utility on them. Imagine another DoT activator, but instead of being a Kafka replacement, it makes other characters activate ONLY the DoT with most charges (Black Swan buff), and each time a DoT activates, it adds charges to either the enemy (WCS) or to the new character (BCS). When certain condition is fulfilled (maybe if the enemy is weakness broken, that would make the low toughness damage good), it basically makes the enemy implode based on the amount of charges. It could, too, make the enemy take a 50% of the total DoT damage at the start of the turn, BEFORE the other DoTs activate (So the Arcana charges don't disappear before this, but also to not use the higher amount of charges that Arcana would get from the other DoTs). DoT doesn't really need bigger multipliers (that would only bring A LOT more Power Creep in the same archetype), it needs better activations, utility, and stacking. And yes, that could mean too that the ultimate stops enemies from losing debuffs, even on phase charge. (in general, to make it at least A BIT useful in other teams), but that would basically make BS have always 50 charges... Wait, no, that's perfect. And yes, most of this things are based on the actually good SU/DU blessings.
A Preservation character similar to Aventurine that works kinda like an upgraded version of the "Trend of the Universal Market" lightcone (which makes it so that when an enemy hits you they get a DoT scaling with Def) where the effect applies to all allies with a sheild and the DoT scales with the damage the enemy has done to them would make the team more useful against newer bosses, esp in the future as they gradually become stronger and stronger. But besides supports, we still need new DoT characters that aren't 4 stars or at least are from different elements. The main problem imo tho is the lack of elemental variety in units, we still don't have ANY Quantum, imaginary or ice characters that can apply DoT
I unfortunately invested hard when kafka 1st got released, getting her to E4 and when black swan came out, I got her to E2. At the time DoT was really good. Its so frustrating how like you said, they feel so much weaker than other meta teams. I think there needs to be somewhat of a overhaul to it. Maybe do what ZZZ did and make a "discord" proc when having multiple DoTs, and other creative ways to detonate it early without undermining old characters
I think it’s like preservation where Hoyo genuinely have no idea what to do with it but it’s not as if there aren’t avenues to explore. Preservation has yet to have a unit utilise “quake” or have a dedicated dps the same way lingsha is to abundance. We have yet to receive a unique DoT using bleed, lightning or quantum and quantum specifically could be really cool. I saw on the Hsr Reddit someone propose a quantum DoT that works like a combination of break and nihility, when the enemy enters the unique quantum break state any quantum damage attacks dealt to the enemy don’t deal damage immediately but get stored, that stored damage would be increased/multiplied by a value tied to however far back that enemy’s action got set. It would make welt and silver wolf much more relevant and give seele a fighting chance against newer 5 stars the same way jing yuan keeps getting buffed
I really wanna see a physical preservation that uses DoT to reduce enemy damage and heal/shield the team. It could be an interesting way to include action advancing since they’d have some heavy damage reductions and protection for the team. Including an ult or feature that action advances the enemies but taunts them could be cool
Imagine there's a balloon type DOT mechanics that if the ballon filled with DOT, it pops and deals big AOE damage and the shear, burn, shock, and bleed that the ballon collects would apply to every enemy and makes them vulnerable to DoT so it can contribute with the team's overall damage but also help Kafka deals more damage.
Enabling Crit on Dot might work. Have a harmony/nihility that will enhance DoT crit based on their crit ratio or certain fixed number. It could be applied by unique debuff, ult, or skill. And it wouldn't be too powercreep since it was pretty niche team comp and needed extra setup
I just want them to use quantum entanglement at some point. It’s the only dot that cannot be applied without break. I remember the game teaching us how every element effects what will happen when an enemy breaks, and thinking quantum entanglement would be a bigger deal than it ended up being. Mechanically it is super interesting as it rewards more hits in a short amount of time, the only issue being that it caps at 5 stacks. If we had someone who could apply it on their own and gave it a higher cap, it could be extremely powerful.
I think a cool support design would either be the action advance idea, credits to the dude in the comments. I also thought about another idea that has a bit of ramp up time but also not that much that its dragged out. skill: teamwide dmg buff that stacks whenever someone procs or implants a dot talent: she has a summon or like numby or whatever na acts independent and shares speed value with the character. whenever said summon takes action detonates all dots for 40% of dmg or some low value. (basically is you have 161 speed its like 4 actions so 160% dmg extra dot dmg per cycle) while refreshing dot durstion and giving a stacking speed and defense ignore buff every followup atk based on the characters speed. ult: just flat out enemies affected take more dmg from dots and every 2 dot procs (different units) gains a skillpoint (dot team somewhat suffers from lack of sp) i think there can be a lot to add and such but i think this would put dot back on the table without making it breakteam levels of broken. We also wont have another robin problem where she is meant for fua but is basically BIS for everyteam. The Character might find success in niche acheron teams but thats it.
My first (and favorite) character is Black Swan, I got her at the beginning of 2.0 before reaching the DoomsDay Beast so she pretty much carried me the whole game, still is on my main team to this day! Even got her E1 before patch 1 ended! When I say it feels so off to not see a chunk of enemy HP not go missing by itself I mean it. I really wish DoT got more love :(
I can think of three ideas that could be interesting. Character that makes dot crit based on their own crit stats, character that makes dot reduce the weakness bar, or a character that works with the other break statuses, entanglement, impression, and freeze, to do more damage. Of course these ideas aren't concrete solution but random ideas.
I imagine something along the lines of either DoTs activating on player turn as well (maybe to a lesser effect) or making all DoT caps at 99 with extra damage based on how high the stack is could be a solution to the DoT problem. There's still many avenues to take with DoTs, but there's the issue of making it balanced so it doesn't overshadow the other team comps (like "oh, let's have all DoTs do their max damage proccing once for every stack of that DoT"), like I'd want to see a DoT healer in the game (I'm thinking of a character that applies a DoT and heals the team based on stacks instead of dealing damage, with all the heals applying on enemy turn) but I don't think that will happen soon unless they think of something to help bring DoTs into the spotlight.
with the introduction of remembrance, I'd imagine it taking a long while before we even get back to dot, worse case scenario having to wait until the end of the amphoreus main story :(
How about a DOT support or healer with a talent that allows detonated dots to reduce enemy toughness or advances allies who afflicted dots on the enemy that stacks depending on the number of enemies so it could work for pure fiction.
Imagine a nihility DoT support that allows for a DoT attack to crit (think nahida’s ability to make dendro attacks to crit at a static rate) and also makes it so so DoT attacks reduce an enemy’s toughness bar when that DoT procs, both of these are things I believe would highly assist the DoT archetype
I personally really like the pure fiction buffs that allows enemies to action advance on hit + apply wind shear every time they are hit with a counter attacker like yunli. Being able to action advance the enemy makes dot procs more common while counter attacking with yunli helps build windshear stacks. The playstyle provided by a new unit that acts like this could really help DoT feel better since it plays into the self destructive nature of nihility itself, where both your team and the enemy are literally racing to burn the other side down. Also, they could play with shields on enemies since DoT ignores shields, but it will probably feel as forced as the cola gorilla needing shields to deflect his cola spam. It would also be pretty funny if they're planning a new summon that acted like the trashcan spawns from sampo during the trash can summoning event where the spawned trashcan was basically another target and defeating it dealt damage to the rest of the enemies.
suggestions 1. dot exploding character (it would help with problem of reaching max stacks on dot) 2. character that debuffs depending on type and amount of debuffs (flexible nihility character) 3. character that could heal a little when dealing dot, or when hitting enemies who have dot on them (rare nihility character that could replace healer somewhat on the team) 4. character that gets strong buff by absorbing debuffs from enemy. (it would help with problem of reaching max stacks on dot)
Some fix I can think of: - Support/Sustain that can also apply DoT and increase DoT damage taken or buff team DoT, or a third DoT Subdps to pair with Kafka and Black Swant that offer significant buffs/debuff value unlike JQ - Sustain that has the SU Before Sunshine-esque effect that heals and charges energy for each DoT proc, so the whole team attack frequency increases - Reworked DoT so they all have HP% based damage like Bleed, and let the characters stack more DoT effects than the current cap I think advancing the enemies is such a backward way since you're just letting them use their annoying abilities more often and doesn't capitalize on the core game mechanic of weakness broken enemies taking more damage, not to mention it's anti synergy for characters like Black Swan that can't stack as many Arcana if the enemies get their turn too fast
I'm thinking they should make a support for DOT that bridges the gap between break and DOT, by having a character that applies a stacking dot that, while applied, allows all DOTs on that enemy to deal a small amount of toughness regardless to element. maybe make the applied enemy also take super break damage too or something, and throw a defense shred to their kit or something too. Something to allow them to be slightly better than Harmony Trailblazer as a superbreak support if you want a second break team, or don't have fugue, but also allows them to act as a dedicated support for DOT characters too.
Haven't seen the video yet but my take is kafka is the problem or, more specifically, her kit. We don't have alternative for her, someone who can activate dots. If you don't have kafka, you can't use them effectively.
Support mechanic that could catapult DoT forward: make each individual DoT have a toughness break value and "attack" value (to impact stuff like the new war armor mechanic).
I’ve been thinking how cool it would be to have a character that action advances enemies to trigger DoTs there’s so many opportunities for unique supports
Imagine super break but for dot where if the enemy is weakness broken and you apply dot the enemy instantly takes like 50% of your dots total damage or enemies take bonus damage from all dots applied after your weakness break them. They could also add a harmony character that puts a mark on enemies that enables dot super break or dot amplifying
Here’s hoping Obsidian uses Bleed to heal or buff allies. C’mon hoyo make the vampire utilize bleed
*The monkey paw curled*
She is self Bleed
?
@@Ben-v6z3s there's one of the IPC stonehearts named Obsidian. She might be a vampire from the video that has all of them trying to judge Aventurine during trial.
I guess that since she might be a vampire, so making her utilize bleed and sorta make it like a vampire, that's what the comment was trying to say actually.
@ there was a teaser about the other members of the IPC Stonhearts. Obsidian is portrayed to be a vampire but not conclusively stated.
Lol simp much?
@@blazeyprime4470they are right tho, before I even knew about hsr, I knew about Kafka
@@blazeyprime4470 she's the reason I played 😔 she's just cool
This doesn't work well with BS, unless you also give her and Kafka crazy SPD.
+ The unit could extend debuff timers so the debuffs don't disappear before Kafka can detonate them
Ngl I didn't understand half of what you said cuz I'm new to the game but it sounds like I accidentally stole your idea 😢
Apocalyptic Shadow heavily penalizes DoT as a whole. Enemies take little to no damage when not broken, and takes forever to recover from Weakness Break; so DoT can't trigger itself.
Here are things that I want to see:
- DoT should not be removed after a boss' phase change.
- DoT should trigger immediately when the boss is Weakness Broken (this will sort of fix the problem with Apoc Shadow).
- DoT can deal Toughness DMG
- A character that Action Advances the enemy (including -50% ATK debuff so you don't die)
- Crit DoT, but it uses your Effect Hit Rate to determine the Crit Rate.
No wonder why my black swan being in the top 7% suck in apox shadow 😭
Action advancing enemies is good for dot in general but bad for swan because of the way her kit works
@@lynndylan4674 One character should not dictate & hold back the entire archetype, especially if it's for the greater good.
Also technically there's not much of a point in stacking Arcana past 7. Stacking more will do even less damage than triggering it more often. Here is an example:
14 stacks = 408% ATK
7 + 7 stacks = 648% ATK
Not to mention that you don't get ANY of the extra benefits from re-triggering it with Kafka (no AoE & no DEF Ignore).
Fr, i could see them releasing a supp unit that could boost team's overall EHR, gives debuff and also boosting dmg all at the same time
@@bubblesparksWhile having a support that boosts EHR would be really nice, it also would require whole new builds and farming for Kafka and Black Swan :(
it’d be nice if they gave us a support that could let ehr contribute to dot dmg scaling, hopefully in addition to buffing ehr
He's ice nihility, and ice has an interesting synergy with DoT
(frozen enemies get action advanced, which means enemies get more turns, which means enemies take more DoT dmg)
If Anaxa is a character whose kit is centered around freezing the enemy, that would be really good for DoT teams

I think only Break-based Bleeds actually scale on HP?
@@rajupersaud6298 Luka's skill also applies a Bleed that scale on enemy's max hp (but with a damage limit scaing with Luka's atk)
Hoolay was the first time i tried a dot team and loved it because hes so fast
Doesn't black swan already prevent stacks from decreasing though when ult had been used
They can make DoT more flexible, with a harmony that lets everyone proc their element's DoT.
They can incorporate freeze, like a nihility that freezes using DoT procs, and whose freeze triggers DoT.
Or they can lean towards Black Swan, make a preservation that detonates DoTs when their shields are attacked.
I can see a future for DoTs, just that they're probably focusing on the new fancy remembrance units.
fuck harmonies. make it another nihil char. I'm sick of harmonies dominating every team
@@Sncyukidon't you think we already have enough healers currently, I'd like to see preservation beyond just adventurine and fu xuan
#hopium lol
Xueyi has been "saved" twice already. She get a buff whenever break does lol
@@danielbarnes1241 yeah sure but she wasnt that bad per say.
Suspicion is applied when dots are applied not when they over cap so black swan would be goated for this team also imagine if the character was a healer so black swan kafka and Acheron triple carry team could be brought back into the meta also since ehr is a thing i think dot mei would use ehr over 100% to determine dot crit rate and damage and when dot cr goes over 100% its turned to more crit dmg
P.S. suspicion decreases by 2 at the end of the enemies turn not once per dot triggered
@@polarroars68That about Black Swan that a was gonna say, when I use her and Kafka in Simulated Universe they stack Suspicion normally.
Yeah but they won't. Meta characters brings them money
Make all future DOT characters detonate their own DOT but then they won't be dot characters anymore

The thing is, DoT Jiaoqiu are basically locked behind E2S1
@@azzylino1294 Yep, kinda sad. i got him E2S1 because of this, and he is pretty strong

I hope.
Tl;dr: dot will have to wait a while before it can get revived, and even longer before it gets any meta relevance
If they’re making a new path then they gotta flush it out like imagine if we only got tighnari collei dmc and nahida in v3 of genshin we wouldnt have a dps (tighnari is a quick swap) or a healer or a shielder, and since new path means new weapon types people will be strained to pull for rememberance units because they dont wanna use a 3 star weapon and cant spend for a 5 star weapon even if they give us an event 4 star weapon or a new herta bond weapon the people that miss the event weapon would rather get the herta bond one and that one takes a long time to save up and get and refine to s5 then there’s the people who havent farmed artifacts for summons bc yk they gotta get a new relic set when it drops and people prob dont have a good set for them already unless they have jing yuan so pretty much the only thing you can get for a rememberance unit rn that’ll be garunteed to be useful after 3.0 drops is the planar set for summons
@ how tf is this a tl;dr
Keeps the theme of damaging the enemies on their turns at least.
but i'm a dumb idiot so these are just some things I think would be neat.
yes! I always thou about DoT critting, maybe even make the support give DoT its own crit rate and damage, that would just be perfect
and quite honestly, I feel like kafka should have been able to do that because it always felt like her kit is lacking, the new chars just proves that because of how stacked they are, ig bad early design, she was in beta afterall
I feel like if they want to introduce a mechanic to Dot, one way , though boring, is to make it like superbreak. Basically the Dot Harmony character can give a buff to all allies that will make their attacks to enemies detonate all existing Dots at a certain multiplier when the enemy is weakness broken.
That would still leave the problem of the enemies having to be weak to wind and lightning
Why do you think Robin is used hmmmmm
There are multiple fixes in the game already.
Slight Note, You don't need Enemy Action Advance if you have more DoT detonators special on the skill (aka Kafka)
If they just use like 2-3(depending on which ones) of the listed things and slap it onto a brand new unit then it will help tremendously especially if they put it on a support unit
The ways to make DoT meta exist the devs just aren't doing it. As for the whole turn cycle thing, Robin and high speed Kafka is used for a very specific reason so the dots detonate more often without worrying about waiting on an enemies turn
The only thing that would be kinda double edged is slowing enemies but that's not a bad thing since it allows for more DoT stacks to be applied which is what they need anyways and is why Action Advancing enemies is the worst thing to do for DoT comps
@@NiaTheMilkTank i do hope a unit comes out with some of those things and it will help tremendously but it wont be enough to put dot back in the meta and while ways to boost dot does exist the devs wont be using any for a while unless the unit is a rememberance unit
@@polarroars68 yeah dots just screwed for like half a year +
But the whole fixation about meta is weird also if the team comp can consistently and fully clear in like 1 cycle after all the buffs. Not everything needs to zero cycle especially when it's being compared to a full Feixiao comp
Concept: introduce an ice nihility unit, that specializes on freezing, with a detonatable ice DoT, and make it so, that debuffs don't expire upon being unfrozen, giving DoT overall a lot more damage procs.
so Dissociation effect from SU?
@skyronartz9593 I don't think disassociation from SU does that. But the remembrance path resonance from golden gears and swarm disaster, that gives you access to the "Aeonian River" effect, I think it's called, extends debuff/disassociation duration and behaves in a similar way I described.
But I'd have to double check to be sure.
"Later Babe, new RedFlaim vid just dropped"
Also what one of the top comments in the Aventurine video about having a Preservation character with Quake mechanic from SU would probably be good with this;
That would make acheron busted beyond belief i dont think hoyo will do that.
@ I would say one stack as long as the debuff was implanted once per action. There’s a difference
One action = One implant debuff no matter the stack
Two actions = Two implant debuff no matter the stack
The Scepters from the new SU thing with Herta has one of the archetypes DoT so there may be hope yet.
here's how i fix dot....
Even then DOT Trial characters exist
That's literally kafka 😂
I was super happy when I managed to pull Kafka and Black Swan during their shared banner (I tried to also go for Robin but unfortunately I'm not that lucky), and I had so much fun tearing through DU where I didn't have to worry about being too lazy to grind materials. It really sucks that a team that I'd kind of hyped up in my head got completely outpaced by FUA and Break.
Also, I really love how you explain things. Keep up the good work👍

it's just leak, not sure if she is truly DOT user
Honestly currently the leaks about new characters are really vague.
I putting my bets on Anaxa as a DOT support.
Surely tribble gonna be a dot harmony right? :clueless: :copium:
Meanwhile me cleaning every endgame content with DoT and using Preservation Trailblazer as the sustain.
this is my concept for a nihility rememberance support
• having an ult field that instead of reapplying dots and having a ‘max stack’ with dots it scales up to a certain amount like bs
•when u apply a dot the amount will double to help with the dot ramping in battle
•and having like a cool rememberance passive which allow like sort of a summon with rememberance which persists through waves and is basically a ticking time bomb where after a certain % of dots triggered on a field the enemy with the most dots will detonate all dots in a blast attack and explode doing like half or 75% of the original damage
kinda helps with the rising hp inflation and seems like a fun concept
I hope for a DoT support that freezes the enemy since frozen enemies get 50% action advance upon thawing out. But I'm sure DoT won't be forgotten. Encounter design can help the archetype, too. The more actions enemies take, the more they'll suffer from DoTs. DoT PFs already have Action Advance built in, so that's the obvious thing to do for a future support.
i love love looove the mechanic that heals and increases energy based on when the DoTs detonate, and i think it would be supperr cool to see it in a character

a type of dot support that i just made up off the top of my head while watching this video would be a nihility support with a vodoo design, making it a summon or memosprite (in which case, remembrance character) that can be affected by the same dot as 1 (or multiple) enemy but has an insanely high speed which makes it take more turns in a cycle and once its hp is depleted it bursts into doing all the accumulated damage to the vodoo target, the same support could have a passive talent that makes allied dot crit according to their own crit stat (like fugue permanent exo toughness and super break) and their vodoo doll hp to scale according to their own hp (like 600% of the user's hp) which would make it a support scaling on crit dmg/hp.
How about make a support that can make DoT crit?
That defeats the whole purpose of dot, it’s like asking for a support that can buff bloom
@@Ben-v6z3s *C2 nahida left the chat*
Then you would also need to build crit rate, crit damage which would lower your effect hit rate or attack. So you would also need to add a significant amount of crit damage and crit rate to the buff which could be exclusive to dots but it would still only be a damage boost and to be a buff it would need to be better than what ruan mei or robin can offer, or it has to be on a healer or you run double support.
So just making them crit doesn't really do anything other than increasing the damage by a bit.
@@abullenflathey'd just make fixed crit rates (like nahida's e2 or robin's crit in ult)
Here are some ideas I got for a DoT support that could maybe help the team without being just a boost of DoT dmg :
- Contagion Effect: Each turn, DoTs have a 30% chance to duplicate onto another random enemy.
- Forced Acceleration: Advances enemy actions without letting them attack.
- Multi-Tick DoT: DoTs have a chance to trigger multiple times per tick. (mby like 30%)
- Max HP DoT Scaling: DoTs deal a percentage of the target’s max HP as extra damage.
"Patience Is All You Need"
anyways i dont think they are going to give up on dot just because how famous kafka is
I think disassociation is the answer here.
Tl;dr: dot can work in main stream team comps if they just got a bit more creative
I think dot’s best chance at meta relevance is assimilation like imagine a nihility healer who has a talent that heals based on dot dmg delt to the enemy and different types of dot increase that, suddenly kafka is a healer, acheron has a nihility healer, black swan’s arcana doing multiple types of dot makes her a healer, and the support has a lot more that their power budget can use bc its only their talent, their skill can apply a bleed (bc bleed does %hp dmg), and their ult can make everyone trigger dot dmg when attacking or it allows dot to crit.
I have two ideas for DoT buffs
1 A harmony character that enables DoT crit and shares his/her Crit Rate and Damage to the ally
2 A a Nihility character that snapshots the enemies current DoT and turns it into a "snapshot" fir mby 3 turns, this snapshot deals 100% of the DoT snapshotted and removes the DoT from the enemy so your DoT can reapply it for potentially double Damage
A kit design that was in my mind was:
Harmony, fire
Talent: each attack can apply up to 5 stacks of character dot, depending on how many enemies are hited. this dot can accumulate up to a maximum of 18 stacks and lasts for 3 turns
Basic: just a basic but hitts 3 enemies
Skill: buffs all alies for 3 turns and gives them a buff that can make them detonate all of their personal dots when they aplie a new dot, or add a new stack to their existing dot
Ult: this ult does not use energy and instead is like feixiao and Acheron's.
Technique: makes the character gain 1 stack of their ult, up to a maximum if 2
Acescion 1: by using ult character can detonate it's special fire dot even if the skill buff is not activated
Ascencion 2: by the beginning of a new battle character starts with 2 ult stacks, instead of the usual 0 stacks
Ascencion 3: when the character's skill buff is activated the characters who were buffed can deal 25% of their usual toughness damage to enemies who do not have their weaknesses and uppon attacking the enemie action will be increased based in how much toughness damage the attacking alie would make. In case the enemie is not weak to the character element, their action will be increased by 25% tanks to the toughness damage that this trace gives)
S1 LC: uppon using their skills, the LC gives an extra buff that increases all the alies dot damage by 15% and everytime an enemie dies by dot usage all characters take turn
Eidolon 1: the increase of dot stacks that their ult gives now can increase character special dot to it's maximum stackability
E2: the maximum of character special dot stacks is now 40
E4: the ult can now increase all dot stacks to it's maximum and also as long as the field is active the character personal dot lasts as long the character is alive
E6: the ult can detonate all dot's and make them last as long as the character who applied them are alive (I choose to only make possible for the character to detonate other people's dots at their E6 to give Kafka an utility in this team)
Just a rando here playing since day one who loves DOT and has thought about this a lot-
Things I think that would make for a great DOT Support or DPS kits/mechanics (obviously each unit would have a easy DOT application in addition to the other effects- and DOT damage scaling can be attack, defense, speed of enemy, based on unit kits respectively):
*DOT Nihility Support: Enables "additional damage" to each individual DOT trigger-(like robin for DOT) and DOTs can reduce enemy toughness bars as well. increase all allies effect hit rate and reduce all enemies effect resistance.
(Acts kind of like Ruan Mei's break extension-but not tied to breaking the enemy just sleeps them for one turn) Random DOT will re-trigger when attacked by anyone in "sleep" state and enemy in sleep state has X% DOT vulnerability (sleep state and cannot be reapplied to same enemy until enemy has recovered)
*DOT Abundance: DOTs can Heal, boosts allies defense and Attack stats on DOT triggers, enemies action advances when attacked and 100% base chance to apply an additional DOT stack to enemy based on the attacking allies' element.(The faster the enemy goes, the more buffs you get.) Scales off of Effect Hit Rate.
*DOT Preservation: DOT triggers build small but strong shields that apply bleed when hit by an enemy, high taunt value on unit and when a preservation unit is hit trigger all DOTs on attacking enemy
*DOT Hunt: Reapplies all DOT effects on battlefield and additional DOTs to one single target then attacks target triggering all DOT effects and their break trigger effects as if the enemy was broken by every element type (kind of like a rainbow Main DPS Luka)
*DOT Erudition: DOTs pass to defeated enemies, have increased stacking capabilities, extended duration, pass from wave to wave. Dots have a "shatter" effect like the MOC buff from a while back or black swans dot explosion at a certain number of her stacks.
*DOT Destruction: DOT drains allies HP for high DOT Damage and Attack boosts, HP lost is stored for a massive "DOT Eruption" to restore all allies HP and trigger DOT effects multiple times
Basic 4-star DOT kits/traces/talents that would be good (Just spit-balling)
*Boost all allies attack. DOT Damage Type triggers Follow up attack re-triggering dot effect at X% of original DOT applied for each instance, like a Herta kuru-kuru for every DOT stack for example. (helps emphasize applying many DOTs as opposed to just one or two big ones and doubles all the effects of DOT)
*Reduce enemies Effect res, defense, and attack increase allies effect hit rate, attack, and defense equal to amount reduced like DOT syphon effect (stackable and progressive- enemies weaken DOT strengthens as battle progresses)
*Entanglement counts as a DOT and can be triggered by DOT Effects, all DOTs are break DOTs and scale like break damage (hybrid break DOT kits)
*A character that simply increases the flat damage multiplier of DOTs by a good amount
I also thought about another idea that has a bit of ramp up time but also not that much that its dragged out.
skill: teamwide dmg buff that stacks whenever someone procs or implants a dot
talent: she has a summon or like numby or whatever na acts independent and shares speed value with the character. whenever said summon takes action detonates all dots for 40% of dmg or some low value. (basically is you have 161 speed its like 4 actions so 160% dmg extra dot dmg per cycle) while refreshing dot durstion and giving a stacking speed and defense ignore buff every followup atk based on the characters speed.
ult: just flat out enemies affected take more dmg from dots and every 2 dot procs (different units) gains a skillpoint (dot team somewhat suffers from
lack of sp)
i think there can be a lot to add and such but i think this would put dot back on the table without making it breakteam levels of broken.
Honkai Star Rail finally fixed DoTs!....... But it was only Silver Wolfs Story Mission Ult for 3.0
V_V
Each new five star being unique and interesting, Sunday and Yunli walked in.
It would also be pretty funny if they're planning a new summon that acted like the trashcan spawns from sampo during the trash can summoning event where the spawned trashcan was basically another target and defeating it dealt damage to the rest of the enemies.
suggestions
1. dot exploding character (it would help with problem of reaching max stacks on dot)
2. character that debuffs depending on type and amount of debuffs (flexible nihility character)
3. character that could heal a little when dealing dot, or when hitting enemies who have dot on them (rare nihility character that could replace healer somewhat on the team)
4. character that gets strong buff by absorbing debuffs from enemy. (it would help with problem of reaching max stacks on dot)
Some fix I can think of:
- Support/Sustain that can also apply DoT and increase DoT damage taken or buff team DoT, or a third DoT Subdps to pair with Kafka and Black Swant that offer significant buffs/debuff value unlike JQ
- Sustain that has the SU Before Sunshine-esque effect that heals and charges energy for each DoT proc, so the whole team attack frequency increases
- Reworked DoT so they all have HP% based damage like Bleed, and let the characters stack more DoT effects than the current cap
I think advancing the enemies is such a backward way since you're just letting them use their annoying abilities more often and doesn't capitalize on the core game mechanic of weakness broken enemies taking more damage, not to mention it's anti synergy for characters like Black Swan that can't stack as many Arcana if the enemies get their turn too fast
