@@tilting_cat3344 nobody said it was guaranteed and Apoc shadow is a very special case where everything in there has higher numbers. In other modes, as long as you have a bit of res on relics and the shield, you resist things more often than not.
Yep. But doesn’t it also give your team a bigger shield at the start if you use his technique or no? I feel if I do Aventurine’s technique and then go into a fight, they start with a bigger shield than what they usually do if I don’t..
@@3kxi761 Ok, I thought so. If I feel like I’m going into a boss fight or a fight, I might need more defense I just spam his technique until I feel like I got the right pattern and then enter the fight 😂
@@JMike-bq6rl might be a little weird, since the artifact set that increases shield strength has 2pc def increase. So either theyre more focused on dmg rather than shielding or they sustain in other ways like fu xuan's dmg reduction. Or we get a new artifact set.
aventurine main here to correct some misinformation.... his technique buffs his def, it doesn't give you a shield at the beginning of a fight... his 2nd major trace gives you a shield at the beginning of a fight ALWAYS.... which is probably better than what you said in the video lol
Lets see. He sustains. Does follow up attacks. Applys debuff (ult. and his signature lightcone if you have it) and... Oh yeah his shield never runs out if you manage it correctly. @@Cpagan722
@@Cpagan722 Now your beginning to understand how broken OP Adventurine is. lol The next level of understanding is knowing that his shield stacks twice from using his skill, up to 200% skill value. While its true you do gain shields off his talent, its a very small amount compared to just using his skill twice. If you have the SP to spare its a good idea to do so if you want the beefiest shields possible.
@@Cpagan722 you forgot that every time he gains a shield from skill or fua, the shield duration refreshes, so aventurine can spend 0 sp for literally forever if he gets hit enough and you have fua units to give him stacks with, since his fua will infinitely refresh his shield duration. aventurine can get 5 stacks from getting the whole team hit and 4 stacks if you place him in the center of the team and he gets hit by a blast attack, and since his max stacks are 7, you can basically refresh your whole team's shields every 2 times a blast attack hits your team also his ult grants stacks too so it technically refreshes shields since it has a chance to generate 7 stacks.... you undersold him HARD. and just in case one of your units has less def and takes a lot of shield damage, his FUA shield is doubled on the unit with the lowest shield value....... so good luck dying with him on your team LMFAOOOOOOOO
@@dawsonrussell7846 That's not a support's role, that's a bonus only two supports in the entire game so far have: Sunday and Bronya, both 5*, one of them limited, and neither of them are a good support on every team. Bailou, a 5* Abundance unit, being the only Abundance (and only sustain overall, counting Preservation too) with absolutely no way, 0, of dealing with status effects, neither cleansing them nor helping to prevent them, is something I can't understand. Not even her Eidolons have something to help her case. Her Revive is useless, 25% HP, only one unit per fight and gets triggered automatically, by the time you characters are dying reviving one of them with 25% HP won't really help, specially if it's in the middle of a boss turn and he just get killed again. As someone who has both of them due to losing 50/50s, Bailu is seriously competing with Yanqing for the "honor" of being the Qiqi of Honkai Star Rail.
They can buff older healers by giving them supports that increase team damage based on amount healed. Basically turn healing into damage including overhealing. If the scalings are high enough then healer specialists can be more competitive again. A character like Furina would also create a huge meta shift. Imagine what this would do for Blade. Blade, Lynx, Furina, and Sunday. With Sunday action advancing Furina's three summons that all drain hp when they attack and any change in hp on anyone buffs the entire team's damage.
@@GERAT023 Genshin character. Basically what she can do is she buffs the team whenever the HP of the team increases or decrease and makes healers relevant
aventurine wouldnt be the overloaded mess he is right now if he's purely into tanking. but no, they had to turn in into a sub-dps that not only can protect your team, but deal.... chip damage to your opponents
Also one unique thing about Aventurine.. he gives your team 50% effect res, which MEANS if all 3 of your supports run the broken keel planar set, he allows your whole team to get a WHOLE 30% Crit Damage. Insane with his also 15% Crit Damage from his ult
Aventurine honestly hard-carried my account. I just got him E0S1 in this banner and here's what he did for me - He helped me clear swarm 5 and G&G conundrum 6 when was stuck at swarm 4 and couldn't even unlock conundrum for G&G
One thing i forget to mention, if you have fuxuan signature lightcone. Every wave, i repeat At the start of every wave, restores HP to all allies by an amount equal to 80% of their respective lost HP.I knew that because i have both of them (Aven and Fuxuan) with their signature lightcone.
@@Cpagan722 actually, i prefer using Aventurine because how cracked he was. I recently got his signature lightcone and oh boy, it really boost him up. With that lightcone, i can charge acheron ult stack faster because his FUA also debuff enemy.
I usually go for women over men in gacha games, but since Luocha was the first 5 star sustain to be released, he’s just there in almost all of my teams. You scroll through, but Luocha is not moving. LMAO
I sacrificed my chance to pull Sunday to grab Aventurine on his rerun. Zero regrets, he's absolutely nuts. As far as old sustains go, I wish Hoyo were open to actually revisiting characters and giving them an overhaul. Almost all of the 1.X sustains are horribly obsolete now, for exactly the reason that pure sustain is not the game's meta.
For Gallagher you even forgot to mention his sp positivity and his ult increasing the break dmg enemies take (so aven ult but for break). This guy is an absolute unit
I kind of want to argue against the “preservation is just better than abundance” sentiment I tend to hear. One of the things to note about post-Luocha sustains compared to launch sustains is the ability to sustain through in-between turns, because in reality how much is sustained doesn’t really matter as when you get sustained. Natasha can only choose to heal on her turn with a -1 SP skill to one or when pressing ult to heal to all. HuoHuo sets up a global aura where any unit under 50% gets healed if any unit takes an action and any unit also get healed whenever they make an action. The way people play Luocha is just to let him auto-skill and press ult to hold field which heals based on whenever units attack. Obviously HuoHuo has the most points of interaction on in-between turns and is easily the easiest character to be dynamic with which is important for abundance characters because of when they actually have to heal being so important. Gepard can only setup one team shield with his ult with no other traits to his kit. Pres MC has some availability to shield but is one of very few sustains that suffers from capacity to sustain. Aventurine sets up one team shield with his skill that gets stacked which isn’t actually a problem. The biggest reason why he’s so braindead is the fua > extra shield. There’s no real reason to upkeep your shield intentionally because the game just does it for you which allows you to just go +SP basic constantly. Let enemy attack > get fua > wow my sustain is back! The problem to my shield going down was solved by the enemy attacking the shield and they can’t damage me with majority dots/debuffs because I have 50%+ effect res on every unit! It’s a self-fulfilling loop that FuXuan also kind of has but not as bad. Mind you that this is essentially just solving sustain’s main goal without actually doing anything. FuXuan at least has holes in her defense that could be solved by other options. Really it’s not that preservation is better than abundance. It’s just that Aventurine is one of the 5 preservation characters in the game and using him as the definition leads to the incorrect conclusion that preservation is somehow better by itself. On top of other benefits in Aventurine’s kit this is the real reason why he’s so dominant. I agree mostly that HuoHuo, Gallagher, Lingsha, and maybe FuXuan is a better sustain direction as doing something other than pure sustain is significantly healthier for character balance. However, Aven is dumb. Idk why they made this character the way he is but he’s doing something.
2.x in general is the dev failing in making balanced game Giga-stupid scaling DPS (Acheron) Braindead buffer that is BEST IN SLOT for every single playstyle except one (Robin) Free character that becomes hard requirement for that one playstyle Robin doesn't support (Harmony TB) Somehow the "healer" deals more damage than the dps (Lingsha, and Gallagher the cheaper version) The only sustain that you ever need (Aventurine) Something breaks at 2.1 apparently with Acheron's release, causing the flood of whatever-goes game decisions until now.
@ ehhhh, I think the only design decision issue is Aventurine in 2.X. While I don’t like harmony as a whole, Robin is “fine”, however her numbers are very overtuned. Break’s design problems don’t come from Hatblazer, it’s Ruan Mei supporting the archetype by doing nothing, sitting there with an aura buff, and, being the best in slot regardless of how interactive she is with the game which is not at all. Also break being an archetype defined by its support units being able to deal damage is just not a problem. People complaining that “omg Lingsha is doing actual numbers” is a non-problem that people who defend old hypercarry like to use. Otherwise, the dps functionally from 2.X are all good imo. For the most part they’re significantly better designed than 1.X hypercarry slop, which I think is a game style that should stay dead. Even if the current characters are significantly above the older characters, they still somehow come out more “balanced” because they aren’t outright replacing one another in the exact same Crit hypercarry team that everyone ran.
Prevention is still better tho Preventing the damage will always be better than healing it Your healer is useless if the character is dead and your gonna feel bad taking a healer when a shielder would of prevented that death The truth is Preservation IS better than Abundance , unless they add enemies that ignore shields / resistances then healing will always be underfoot since damage prevention will just matter more only way I can see them making abundance better is with over/healing Or healing converted to damage
For me, the main issue with Preservation Path characters is that their shields have an uptime. For example, Aventurine’s shield lasts for 3 turns (although it can be refreshed with a bonus attack, the shield applied by this bonus attack can withstand at most a couple of boss hits). If you play with a fast DPS who is also advanced forward by a Harmony character, there is a high chance that they will be left without a shield. Additionally, shields do not fully protect against debuffs applied by enemies.
You simply can fix that by running a fast aventurine, running a fast team with a slow sustain isn't smart either. First, in general they need to be fast to make sure you're always ready to heal/shield. Second, running a fast team can make you run out of SP, so running a fast sustain can reduce the weight of the SP consumption if you don't need their abilities
Ive never seen aven comp running out of shield. He always refresh his shield no matter what you do because of his fua. The biggest issue with this is gepard. Imo he is really useless right now, he cant do syit and get stunned and his shield ran out and he still dont have enough energy 😂
@@sorashizen5130Yep, pretty much got to this conclusion when I finally got a FuA team that just ended fights before Aventurine could move thus not refreshing shields.
I mean to be fair, you wake people up from faint by using smelling salts so it's just the same principle applied through the usage of... fermented fish. ... Fish is one of those things that should never be fermented.
Should've mentioned for Aventurine with his signature LC and eidolons he just becomes a dps. E1 gives 20% cd boost to allies and automatically refreshes his shield and his sig makes the enemy take 10% more damage which can be applied to the entire wave not just 1 enemy. What's even more insane is that depending on his teammates you can run the diver set (dps fua set) so he's a tank subdps. I'm hoping I can get his e1 before the banner ends lol
@@Cpagan722 E6 enjoyer here. When he gets to E6, he tanks/ sustains for free and operates solely as a Sub-Dps that just so happens to sustain for you and functionally works on any team. He already did, but at E6 he can't be beat. 150% Damage boost if allies are shielded. Which they will be, always.
Aventurine is the fattest technique point eater, YOU ARE NOT GONNA SAY “feeling lucky” THEN PROCEED TO ROLL NOTHING 4 TIMES IN A ROW!😡 I love him though, he is pretty insane.
They already have a solution, March 7 Hunt path, still a 4 star, but way more useful than her original design. going forward if the other outdated character they can do it that way, change path, or change rarity and improve it. If they want to there is always a way to do it
Another thing about aventurine, he's the definition of "the harder it is, the easier it is", usually the scariest thing about using fu xuan is aoe, he favors aoe, continuous attacking, he favors that too, if you have him you should try him against hoolay, not to mention incoming meta that involves summon, the summon can get his shield too, that means aoe atks gives him 5 stacks, so imagine using him in rememberance team, 2+2+2+1=7? So like instant fua every aoe? As for his technique, it actually buffs his def, so basically more shield and more damage coming from him Honestly making someone who can powercreep him is a crime, its like you're trying to PC acheron or FF
That's why Hoolay is such a fun fight with Aventurine, everytime he attacks the whole team i just go "yes, YEEEEES", the idiot keeps digging his own grave with every attack
Something else to considee for galager that in my opinion is the biggest contribution to his ranking in tierlists, is that his skill point generation is incredible. His enhanced basic attack generates skill points, and if you use him with the 3 star abundance lightcone that gives him 20% action advance when he basics, you can effectively multiply his speed stat by 25% so even 120 speed with this lightcone is an effective speed of 150, and each turn generates a skill point, and then on top of that you have your 100% action advance ultimate which lets him take another turn and get another skill point
@constabrielbell4523 i meant to say 3 star. Either way there's no problem with using it. Sure you get less BE but the amount of speed it gives him is worth it alone.
I think a good fix for this would be to give all healing received the additional effect of damage reduction (like Bailu does). It would stop the problem of one shots, and give you a reason to use Abundance rather than Preservation. You could even make it so healing from any source reduces damage taken, indirectly buffing characters like Blade and March.
Just healing or shielding ain't cutting it anymore.....They need to boosts Stats, like Atk%, Crits, Speed, Energy and sometimes SP. Or they help make enemies take more damage or deal damage themselves.
@@ct2651 Kinda annoys me how Nothing else other than her ult Is related to Energy i mean i get she's a sustain but like not even her eidolons give any energy buffs
That has been the standard now for most sustain units. I remember when someone said healers just heal and everything is an added bonus. When litterally these days they have to do more than just healing. They need to buff, cleanse, debuff, boost all that stuff This is why qiqi sucks and verina is good(even with shorekeeper and soon future healers come out.). Since verina does more than just heal.
@usmanya5110 yeah, its crazy that when you launch 3 years later not only you have a better engine thats more demanding, but can learn from preceeding games. Wuthering wave had better fluid albeit more traditionnal combat abd better animation while also having better balanced character from the beginning
6:00, you should take back that statement. 4 stars while have higher rates, they are NEVER guaranteed to get. You can spend 1000 pulls and not even get a single gallagher.
wrong actually.... read up on the pitty system... every 90 pulls is a garrantueed 5-star and every 60 rolls triggers it with the chance for 4-stars gradually increasing up to those 60 pulls. With bad luck (trust me; I know what bad luck is) you WILL pull a banner featured character in 120 pulls (along with 1 other 5 star) and in those 120 pulls you will pulls on average 8 4 stars (excluding double ups) and maybe 4 lightcones... With a banner event upping the chances for 4 stars in general I maxed out a Pela on my way to pull Acheron... that's 5x pela for 1 acheron... Gacha IS criminal when it comes to expenditure but a F2P player can easily get a character they want if they're just patient and focus on desired banners.
@@AshAsmodeus key word **A** featured banner character, so there's still 2/3 chance that it's not gonna be the one that you want. I'm talking about actual probability not being 100% to get a specific 4 star that you want.

I disagree with Fu Xuan forever being a good sustain, she's actually fallen off pretty hard with how a lot of newer content is designed to counter her. Enemies that have CC are paired together very often now and Fu Xuan can only block 1 single CC per skill use, DoT and specifically the Goblet doll forces you take a ton of damage if he gets a single action off and Fu Xuan can not keep up with healing it back for the most part, faster enemies means she cannot build her ult fast enough to keep her HP resets going and more AoE from enemies means she takes a lot more damage. Everything since her release has worked against her to the point that I'd argue she should be at highest 1.0 tier on Prydwen's tier list with Luocha at the same tier as Bailu at 2.0 (Bailu is way better than people give her credit).
I started around 1.5, Aventurine was my first, and only 5* limited sustain I've got on my account. Even tho I do not own Robin or Feixiao nor Topaz he is still putting in gods work in almost any difficult content I'm doing. I recently managed to clear all conundrum 10-12 reward challenges using him combined with Acheron. And that was on a S5 day one of my new life since it's all i got. The value on this one character is absolutely insane, I even convinced my girlfriend to get him even tho she hates his character, because shes running Feixiao/Topaz/Robin. I'm about 64 pity into his LC now, E1 or S1 fugue be damned. It's not even about what's the most meta way to spend jade, I just want to increase his potential for I know he will continue to provide my account an invaluable service.
@@GodofGoblins Aventurine is still crazy good for that, since he gives 50% effect res... I have around 40-50% on many of my characters before his shield, so the team basically never gets debuffed (I might have farmed the broken keel set a bit too much). If enemies start doing guaranteed debuffs that ignore effect res though...
@@tmtravlrsgoogleaccount1984Don't hold your breath tho, who's to say they'll add enemies that ignore effect res entirely, by having like 300% EHR on enemy attacks.
@tmtravlrsgoogleaccount1984 oh trust me I know, but you also gotta then build effect res. Hoyo can just implement enemies that have insane high chance to land cc (or guaranteed cc to bypass) and aventurine can't cute cc at all. Remember, this is hoyo. They aren't afraid to turn overturned characters down. No one is ever truly safe from power creep or nerfs.
Im a f2p now but i used to buy a lot of the monthly passes and BP so i got quite a few early characters, but the ones i missed out on in favor for characters i liked more design wise were HuoHuo Aventrine and Topaz ect, i didn't care much in the long run since i planned on getting luocha cause i liked him and i had no interest in follow up, but as the meta of the Penacony era started to unravel every new character had some sort of benefit that could only be gained from other new characters. Aventurine is not only an amazing shielder, but has a built in debuff on his basic for Acheron, and a follow up for the multitude of Penacony characters that gained something from multiple attacks, Huo Huo has an ATK buff for DoT teams, and energy for Ultimate hungry characters like DHIL and Sparkle, Lingsha heals, buffs break, and is pretty much a dps in her own right for superbreak teams. Its not that older sustains cant hold up (for the most part), its that newer ones have such loaded kits that compliment these extremely specific meta archetypes. Follow up attacks, debuffs, break buffs, are so much of a hot commodity that when you don't have them, you're just another healer or shielder, of course this is just how gatcha games progress, but i do hope they add new lightcones/relics or something to increase the value of older sustains down the road.
Buffing older character without releasing new supports is possible. PGR done it already, they introduced a LEAP system where it buff (sometime change the skill entirely with new animation) older units, although not as good as new character but still being good enough to complete new contents. They don't touch nor change anything in the original kits but adds an additional effects to them instead, it's basically a second skill tree.
It’s important to remember that tier lists and meta characters come from synergies in the team roster, not necessarily from just being overtuned. Gallagher happened to capitalize on the break meta that Hoyo was pushing out at the time. I’m sure if hoyo was pushing for a counter meta, lynx would also be SS tier since she is one of the only characters that can provide a taunt to destruction units (the other one being March 7th but she’s undertuned).
If you need the E2 to make a limited 5* okay-ish, then that Unit isnt really great to begin with. Look at other E2s or E1s. Aventurine E1 makes him even more insane by providing Crit Damage, his E2 makes him able to inflict Type Res down with his Basic Attack. Fu Xuans E1 makes her give 30% Crit Damage on top of her 15% Crit rate aka she gives a perfect 1:2 crit ratio to the entire team, and her E2 Invalidates Bailu by doing the same thing. Huohuos E1 makes her Skillpoint positive (And keep in mind she is already Skill-point neutral at E0) and her E2 also just revives people, except instead of once per battle its twice because why not. Lingshas E1 reduces the Defense of enemies by 20% and increases her Weakness Break Efficiency (This just reads "More Teamwide Damage"), and her E2 give ALL allies 40% Break effect on Ult usage for 3 turns. Luocha gives a 20% ATK boos on his E1 and a shield that is about the size of March 7ths on his E2, and the Shield also only procs if the target healed is over 50% HP. Yes you could argue that all those Revival E2s are probably never going to proc anyway because of how good Fu Xuan especially is at preventing the DPS loss that is dying, but her E1 is also just way more insane than Luochas 20% atk boost, especially since Robin exists who already gives massive ATK%, with % stacking somewhat badly because of how math works. I will say, the Idea of Luocha basically combining Harmony, preservation and abundance in his E0 E1 and E2 is somewhat interesting, but ultimately he is a jack of few trades and master of one.
@@justpixeltv9246 u dont need e2 to make him okayish lmao, hes already just fine at e0. He easily keeps ur team alive without having to spend a single skillpoint ever, which is already enough to use him in certain teams.
I get what pixel is saying even if it came out wrong. The problem with Luocha is more in the fact of opportunity cost and powercreep. All limited characters are subjected to the same 50/50 90 hard pity banners that come along every once in a while that Luocha's quite frankly lacking base kit being remedied with eidolons is a little meaningless when you can get Aventurine's or Lingsha's amazing base kits with similar or less investment on their runs. This is even more of a pain point if said character has amazing eidolons or lightcones where the investment in making Luocha competitive is still better used on them instead, Aventurine becomes an even better sub-dps and crit battery while making the team basically invincible, Fuxuan with her lightcone can heal the team for extreme amounts while also providing similar damage buffs and her own sustain, Lingsha's solid base kit and toughness damage is further enhanced allowing her to provide even stronger buffs and breaking enemies at illegal rates, etc etc. The main problem is not that Luocha is bad at his job but that he only does his job, keeping your team alive. The same job that any modern sustain can do competently to the point where Gallagher, a 4 Star, can top off your units just as well while ALSO being as SP positive. Luocha doesn't want more investment he NEEDS more investment to even be comparable in power to his newer contemporaries and still arguably doesn't even provide as much as other sustains do. At what point do we say "It just isn't worth pulling for.", I would safely say we have long since already reached that point for him. E2 Gallagher is a perfectly usable "Luocha at home." and literally any other limited sustain is more worth your pulls.
I just think that it's weird what other older characters are allowed to have their Eidolons brought up when talking about them as characters, but no matter what it's never brought up with Luocha. And it's always been this way, even back then when talking about the characters people talked about their Eidolons then ignore Luocha's. I understand that not everyone pulls for copies, I'm not saying that people should or shouldn't, it's just that even among the people who do pull for copies they still don't bring up what Luocha can do. So my original comment I didn't mean anything about it, I just personally feel the need to bring it up because nose else will.
another amazing thing about Fu Xuan is that she grants you immunity to any negative stat 1 time and that immunity resets every time you use her ult. It's a time saver when you're against enemies that freeze or imprison your characters
IMO: Gepard is still really freaking good if you build him properly. I think the latest Prydwen update shows he’s been unironically doing really well and seeing more use in pure fiction. Aventurine is disgusting. I pulled him on my main account and f2p account. His traces aren’t even done and he’s already performing like crazy. Huohuo is my go to sustain for most situations where I don’t need offensive capacity from the sustain and could use energy and attack buffs (she is so freaking good and her autocleanse is unbeatable). Gallagher is my option when I need fire break and offensive utility. Luocha is there when I just need straight up consistent healing and he does a damn good job. Lynx I use in niche cases but she is having a harder time keeping up with fast enemies I think there is some merit to using Bailu specifically on bosses you don’t need cleanse and just need healing (ahem Hoolay).
I did compare gepard and aventurine in hoolay floor. Gepard took me 7-8 cycle with ratio fua team (skill issue I know). When I pull for Aventurine I tested him out on hoolay with half build trace and random deff relics. It took 4 Cycle on my first try... Shield wise, they both performed similar in hoolay case, since gepard can guaranteed to spam his ult. But, extra synergy and fua of aventurine does add more to his value overall.
To be honest, the only thing that sets back Gepard from Aventurine is his 3rd trace. Like, giving damage to sustain is strange, especially if it is Gepard who deals damage based on ATK, and not DEF. They could just change his 3rd trace to something like: "Whenever Gepard takes damage without his shield on, restores 1 or 2 extra energy".
You know what's more useless than Bailu? Her 5* light cone. And what's worse than her LC? *_FOUR copies of them_* !!!! 😭😭😭😭 Thank you, hsr gacha RNGsus, for blessing my account with E1S4 Bailu
Hey, an Aven user here! (E3S1, on the road to E6S5!!!) As someone who's used him since release on most of my teams I can confidently say that, yes, he's genuinely insane. I also have him on all of my alternate accounts that are low level. E0 on all + no sig LC. Even with him having barely decent builds and not maxed out he's still crazy on them 😭🙏 love him so much he literally CARRIES.
Aventurine is mighty disgusting but Gepard will always have a special place in my heart, that man stood tall and proud and carried my team to the finish line in so many bossfights while Swan crippled the boss from the grave. I also feel more comfy using him because his shields are tied to his ult. So long as he can draw aggro (I use Landau's Choice since that's the only matching LC I have for him), he can charge energy by basically just standing there and tanking hits, and using his skill to help speed along that process whenever his turn comes along. I can usually rotate his shields pretty reliably this way. It's how I beat Aven's boss fight XD. Objectively I'd be better off using Aventurine as my primary preservation sustain, but at this point I'm just too in love with this man and his ice wall that won't quit. And he synergizes suprisingly well with Black Swan XD I will say though, Gepard can benefit from a trace that does something like 'increases energy gained from being hit by enemies' or something, making him more an aggro tank that can also provide shielding. Give him something to set him apart from other shielders, because honestly character's skill kits in HSR need to be more varied instead up just one-upping previous units' sets. Maybe instead of a shielder (Geppy/Aven) or a pure aggro tank (Preservation Trailblazer) or a tank using damage dispersal (Fu Xuan), maybe we could have a Paladin/Dark Knight mix in the game that can cover for people while having increased damage the more hp they lose (so basically a Preservation version of Blade). Dunno about Abundance though, haven't used them much. I dunno I just wanted to talk about my boy for a bit, thanks for tuning in to my rant XD
This is horribly real. I have no idea why the felt the need to almost bury Gepard, but I will always keep using him whenever I can. He carried me through early game, mid game, and most endgame (conundrums and MoCs). I really love him being the epitome of preservation. It's sad that they're careless about how much characters resonate with their paths and decided to assign the beefiest shields ti a character that has been luck-blessed. (hinting at harmony)
Aventurine explained: 1. He gives a Shield equal to his skill usage at the start of the battle thanks to an Ascension talent, it is not his overworld technique. You always start the battle with 1 shield on everyone, and can max it out (max stack is twice his skill shield value) on Aventurine's first turn by casting the skill once 2. Overworld technique gives him a DEF buff. His shield (and his damage, his crit chance, his whole kit) scales off DEF, so using it before an encounter will grant you a bigger shield for 3 turns 3.His max Shield value at Talent lv10 is bigger than Gepard's: Aventurine's max shield value is 48% DEF + 640 ((24%DEF + 320) x2 because it stacks), Gepard's 45% DEF + 600. Aventurine can refresh his shield every turn (skill) or automatically (FUA talent refreshes part of his shield for everyone), Gepard needs his Ult, which on a good rotation (skill usage + Energy recharge rope) takes around 3 turns to recharge. 4. While he can't cleanse status effects (neither can't other Preservations, except March 7th, but she is crap as Preservation) he gives a +50% Effect Resistance to the whole party with his shields + he himself gets 1 inmunity against Control status that gets refreshed every other turn. So yeah, all this walltext to confirm that indeed, Aventurine is by far the best Preservation unit and best sustain in the game + has strong subDPS capabilities by getting Crit for free by stacking Defense on him and can also debuff enemies with his Ult and if you have his Light Cone with his Follow Up attack too so he is also great for Acheron teams
Also if Huohuo wasnt aldready broken, heres MORE She has gains 2 charges that allow her to do minor heals every time a teammate takes action AND CLEANSES 1 DEBUFF WITH THE MAX AMOUNT BEING 16 WHO TF NEEDS TO CLEANSE 16 TIMES BRO
So why Gallagher? (Im talking about E6 with All traces since hes a 4*) - A 4* unit is cheaper to build. - SP positive (BA-ULT-BA; generates 2 sp, what more if 160 spd) - Has crazy high Eff RES (mine is 41.2% base at E1, that's + 50%) - Skill heals, cleanses and can buff allies Eff RES (Buffing Eff Res is some premium mechanic) - Ult debuffs enemies with Besotted (heals you when attacking) and advances action by 100% - Besotted Increases Break Dmg Taken - Debuffs an enemy ATK with Enhanced BA, then heals your party. He was released during Year 1 anniversary along with Luocha and Acheron's banner, and as a 4* he's truly an exceptional unit. He fits almost every team. I personally consider him as my jack of all teams because he's the only sustain I have that is actually good. Gallagher glazer but how can I not when he pretty much carried me for since his release.
ever since i got aventurine, clearing content got so SO much easier. lingsha is an amazing experience. they're my only two sustain characters and i love them with everything i got lol
Aventurine is my first 5 star really early in game and anytime i use my second half team in early end game content i always get killed i just wish i could have him on both side that's how comfort of life this guy is
Having played other turn-based gachas like this, pure healing pretty much always fall-off late game, it's an unfortunate nature of turn-base because why heal when you can just not take damage either with shields or by killing the enemy first. That said, something they can do if they dont want to adjust the characters themselves is add some kind of unit specific augment. Like a special lightcone or add a new slot unique to old characters for "charms" or something that will add on to their existing kit. Say if Natasha''s ult also provided a crit buff scaling with HP up to a cap, or if Seele just had innate enemy hp scaling dmg. Being as old as it is, Azur Lane had dealt with this through both retrofits (essentially evolving the unit into a stronger version, normally unlocking an additional skill and increased base stats.) and more recently the use of augments (the charm thing described above). Epic seven does edit their characters, but they also have "Exclusive equipment" which is a special slot for gear/relics that adds on to 1 of the character's skills with 1/3 possible augments.
They could add enemies that ignore shields and resistances Genshin did that, when it had its period of shield dominance and judging by how HSR releases enemies that only the current release of characters can effectively deal with I would say they will do that
What the game needs is the ability to use items in battle. But then we wouldn't need healers I guess. I never use any healing items in the game at all. Either I'm killing enemies before taking dmg, have shields or near an anchor to heal.
Not related to the video, i'm just sharing, but i remember that my 4-star relic set for Natasha was so strong, that even after i got my Gallagher E6-d but had no resourses to build him (i enjoyed my story quests before building up other chars than ones i used in my team until Sunday boss form) that i beat the shit out of Aventurine with all my team alive and well-being, even Tingyun, with her ult that was charging every three turns. I got lucky with almost all relics having energy regeneration, and Natasha was healing and healing and healing-while Misha attaking dices and making most of dmg to the boss
I think if Hoyo introduced a system to evolve 4 stars to 5 stars they'd have a reason to go back and buff old units. Natasha is still great as your first guaranteed sustain but what if when she got all 6 of her Eideons she got transformed into a 5 star with a new kit. That would mean 4 stars would technically need twice as much investment but they're not as luck based to pull. New players could still have their first healing unit not break early game encounters and old heads would be excited to see someone like Natasha in the event pool alongside the new 5 star.
Gallagher really helped me throughout the endgame. At my first impression on him, I was doubting that he will be THAT good as a 4 star until I used him as a superbreak sustainer for my Xueyi, and as expected he was doing wonderfully. It really made me change my mind about pulling for HuoHuo, but I still need to pull for her on my hypercarry Yunli team😅
Huohuo still the goat of sustain tho. I hate aventurines extra effect of giving the party eff res and hoyo has started abusing us with enemies that spam us with debuffs.
i mean making gallagher the best sustain and hes 4 star makes sense so atleast those who low spend can have a chance on beating certain stages otherwise if hes 5 star sure they would make more money but it would be nicer overall for the game
Mainly I do enough damage quick enough that most enemies aren't a problem outside of just using Gallagher but my barely built Gepard comes in clutch during moments like hoolay who had instances of spamming a damn near one shot attack. I don't need fancy crit buffs I just need to not get hit and Gepard does that just fine
I feel like bringing out a game mode that deals high dmg and nullifies enemy shields or something could work to bring our healers back. In the mean time I'm not complaining and my Aventurine is overworked :'D
The need for sustain unit is not really about healing in late game but cleanse debuff, can do damage if your dps go to sleep.people keep down play sustain because right now for end game content there are no need for stamina like other gacha. The moments you can't reset that bad run for free that the moments you know the need of a sustain.
I think if they release more Self-Buffing enemies that can be removed, Luocha's value will increase a bit. We only have those mara struck enemies as main example. 😔😔😔
healers fix boo boos shielders prevent boo boos from happening in the first place healers can cleanse debuffs meanwhile aventurine prevents debuffs from happening in the first place with his goddamn 55% effect res shield
I am a Luocha User and I will always build a team with him in it (even if he's not in my best team I can pair him up with Clara) (planning on using Clara/Robin/Luocha/March Preservation for the strangest follow-up team ever but I can't seem to get eidolons for March 7th Preservation yet) (my best team rn is Argenti/Fu Xuan/Sunday/Jiaoqiu)
great video! trying to get back into star rail after a long period of time is honestly so disheartening because not having any of the newer characters kinda bars you from trying endgame content (which sucks cuz rip to all the stellar jades you can't get).
Some more busted information on Aventurine: His E1 enhances his ultimate so that it gives a shield (equal to his skill’s shield) to the whole team. This, on top of everything else, makes him NASTY.
Then that new character would be S tier, Bailu really won’t, she’s still mid, not bad as a starter, but she really just heals, nothing more, she would be usable with that hypothetical character
This is a simple consequence of "sustain" being a really simple role. All you need to do to be a viable sustain is to make it so that your team isn't dead by the end of the fight. Once you've released Luocha - a character who can incredibly easily sustain a team with minimal effort and next to no SP usage - you're sort of taped out on what you can do with the sustain role. If your characters don't die, you've sustained as well as you can, there's literally no room to grow. Unlike DPS or buffs, where it's a matter of degrees, sustaining is a binary outcome - do any of your teammates die, yes or no? So, how do you design a better sustain than someone who can sustain? Well, you don't - you go down the route of support. The 5-star sustains after Luocha all dip into Harmony or Nihility territory, providing offensive value on top of doing the bare minimum for a sustain - making it so your team won't die. Something people don't acknowledge when talking about Luocha is that he's still incredibly good at his job. He feels a lot less precarious to play than Gallagher - who often lets people drop pretty low while building ult - he's incredibly SP positive, and he's super easy to pilot. Luocha's not been directly powercrept, no one heals as well as he does, but the outcome is the same - my team lives whether they've got Gallagher or Luocha as a sustain - so in a way they really do... But they have other stuff on top.
12:22 as an overwatch player I found this funny since most tanks have a little case of explosion syndrome since atheist from my experience explode as soon as you arrive to battle
And then with his E1 he also gets the skill on ultimate PLUS a 20% crit dmg buff to the whole team in conjunction with the basic ultimate debuff giving the 15% crit rate thing😅
I started playing HSR during Archeron release banner. I opted to pull for Luocha at the time, because I always pull for a sustain for my first character if available. THEN Aventurine released. And hooooo boy. I was already dedicated to building the best team for Ratio. So of course I got Aventurine. And then I was like "well I'm still pretty new, I should get his lc, I don't have many options to choose from". THEN I ended up getting E2 during that release banner under the guise of pulling for Luka eidolons. And this rerun banner? Well. I have E6S1 Aventurine now lmao. And I have no regrets. I don't think there will EVER be a pres unit that is as useful as Aventurine.

The fact that bailu can’t cleanse is a sin

They can buff older healers by giving them supports that increase team damage based on amount healed. Basically turn healing into damage including overhealing. If the scalings are high enough then healer specialists can be more competitive again. A character like Furina would also create a huge meta shift. Imagine what this would do for Blade.
2.x in general is the dev failing in making balanced game
Giga-stupid scaling DPS (Acheron)
Braindead buffer that is BEST IN SLOT for every single playstyle except one (Robin)
Free character that becomes hard requirement for that one playstyle Robin doesn't support (Harmony TB)
Somehow the "healer" deals more damage than the dps (Lingsha, and Gallagher the cheaper version)
The only sustain that you ever need (Aventurine)
Something breaks at 2.1 apparently with Acheron's release, causing the flood of whatever-goes game decisions until now.
Prevention is still better tho
Preventing the damage will always be better than healing it
Your healer is useless if the character is dead
and your gonna feel bad taking a healer when a shielder would of prevented that death
The truth is Preservation IS better than Abundance , unless they add enemies that ignore shields / resistances then healing will always be underfoot since damage prevention will just matter more
only way I can see them making abundance better is with over/healing
Or healing converted to damage
For me, the main issue with Preservation Path characters is that their shields have an uptime. For example, Aventurine’s shield lasts for 3 turns (although it can be refreshed with a bonus attack, the shield applied by this bonus attack can withstand at most a couple of boss hits). If you play with a fast DPS who is also advanced forward by a Harmony character, there is a high chance that they will be left without a shield. Additionally, shields do not fully protect against debuffs applied by enemies.
You excluded Fu Xuan tho, who doesn't have this issue

Should've mentioned for Aventurine with his signature LC and eidolons he just becomes a dps.
As for his technique, it actually buffs his def, so basically more shield and more damage coming from him
Honestly making someone who can powercreep him is a crime, its like you're trying to PC acheron or FF
Want to correct a bit that Aventurine himself gets 2 Stacks when he gets hit while others getting hit gives 1
Multiplication is a 3 star lc. Worth mentioning is quid pro quo and his sig 4 star lc that buffs his break effect. Pretty solid 4 star.
The only reason i put Bailu into my double counter team of Clara and Yunli (definitely not because i don't have Huo Huo)
7:45 Using Sae's palace theme when introducing Aventurine? That's genius lol
Just healing or shielding ain't cutting it anymore.....They need to boosts Stats, like Atk%, Crits, Speed, Energy and sometimes SP.

That has been the standard now for most sustain units. I remember when someone said healers just heal and everything is an added bonus. When litterally these days they have to do more than just healing.

This is why qiqi sucks and verina is good(even with shorekeeper and soon future healers come out.). Since verina does more than just heal.
@usmanya5110 yeah, its crazy that when you launch 3 years later not only you have a better engine thats more demanding, but can learn from preceeding games.

Yup. Either that or more enemies that do a lot more CC. In which case, the shielders kinda buckle and we need more cleansers like Huo Huo or Lingsha
Its already happening in 3.X
As a Chinese your Huohuo pronunciation was really nice!! It’s exactly how I pronounce her name
Luocha has a good E1 & E4, his E2 makes him a hybrid preservation.
@@justpixeltv9246You mean if a character becomes way better with higher eidolons then the character is bad?😂 That’s every character, how surprising!
That Aventurine edit (that wasn't done for the other sustains) went so hard for no reason, im here for it
I'm new here but your pronunciation of Huohuo is perfect!
The core Aventurine + Robin e4 100% res effect ❤
another amazing thing about Fu Xuan is that she grants you immunity to any negative stat 1 time and that immunity resets every time you use her ult. It's a time saver when you're against enemies that freeze or imprison your characters
IMO:
Gepard is still really freaking good if you build him properly.
Lynx I use in niche cases but she is having a harder time keeping up with fast enemies
I think there is some merit to using Bailu specifically on bosses you don’t need cleanse and just need healing (ahem Hoolay).
Another thing about aventurine is, when using his technique if you end up using it 5 times you’re guaranteed for the 60% def boost
You know what's more useless than Bailu? Her 5* light cone. And what's worse than her LC? *_FOUR copies of them_* !!!! 😭😭😭😭
Thank you, hsr gacha RNGsus, for blessing my account with E1S4 Bailu
same happened to me with yanqing. E1S4
Subscribed! Looking forward to continued content :)
HSR might just add enemies that bypass shields in the future like in Genshin Zhongli's case.
And he synergizes suprisingly well with Black Swan XD
I will say though, Gepard can benefit from a trace that does something like 'increases energy gained from being hit by enemies' or something, making him more an aggro tank that can also provide shielding.
Love the persona song on background😊😊
I'm waiting for the day when a DPS-Healer will be born
Forget It, lingsha happened
Aventurine explained:
1. He gives a Shield equal to his skill usage at the start of the battle thanks to an Ascension talent, it is not his overworld technique. You always start the battle with 1 shield on everyone, and can max it out (max stack is twice his skill shield value) on Aventurine's first turn by casting the skill once
2. Overworld technique gives him a DEF buff. His shield (and his damage, his crit chance, his whole kit) scales off DEF, so using it before an encounter will grant you a bigger shield for 3 turns
3.His max Shield value at Talent lv10 is bigger than Gepard's: Aventurine's max shield value is 48% DEF + 640 ((24%DEF + 320) x2 because it stacks), Gepard's 45% DEF + 600.
Gallagher was so good that I got a 2nd better version of him
@@past6480 real af
Also if Huohuo wasnt aldready broken, heres MORE
She has gains 2 charges that allow her to do minor heals every time a teammate takes action AND CLEANSES 1 DEBUFF WITH THE MAX AMOUNT BEING 16
WHO TF NEEDS TO CLEANSE 16 TIMES BRO
Powercrep Rail having extra powercrep in sustains, what a surprise 😂
Aventurine enjoyer here, man i suck at DU but he is the most reliable sustain for every content, and i still suck at every end game sadly
Bro Aventurine was my first limited five star character and I got his signature light cone too. I've been spoiled by this game for so long 💀
So why Gallagher? (Im talking about E6 with All traces since hes a 4*)
- A 4* unit is cheaper to build.
- SP positive (BA-ULT-BA; generates 2 sp, what more if 160 spd)
- Has crazy high Eff RES (mine is 41.2% base at E1, that's + 50%)
- Skill heals, cleanses and can buff allies Eff RES (Buffing Eff Res is some premium mechanic)
- Ult debuffs enemies with Besotted (heals you when attacking) and advances action by 100%
- Besotted Increases Break Dmg Taken
- Debuffs an enemy ATK with Enhanced BA, then heals your party.
He was released during Year 1 anniversary along with Luocha and Acheron's banner, and as a 4* he's truly an exceptional unit. He fits almost every team. I personally consider him as my jack of all teams because he's the only sustain I have that is actually good. Gallagher glazer but how can I not when he pretty much carried me for since his release.
bailu is capable of reviving anyone who dies, while gepard can only revive himself, it made it seem like they had the same ability
ever since i got aventurine, clearing content got so SO much easier. lingsha is an amazing experience. they're my only two sustain characters and i love them with everything i got lol
Aventurine is my first 5 star really early in game and anytime i use my second half team in early end game content i always get killed i just wish i could have him on both side that's how comfort of life this guy is
I used Natasha to sustain a team in MoC 12 yesterday. She still did fine, no one died. 36 stars clear.
Love the new format 👍🏿
They could add enemies that ignore shields and resistances
Genshin did that, when it had its period of shield dominance
and judging by how HSR releases enemies that only the current release of characters can effectively deal with I would say they will do that
What the game needs is the ability to use items in battle.
I got lucky with almost all relics having energy regeneration, and Natasha was healing and healing and healing-while Misha attaking dices and making most of dmg to the boss
came back to hsr a few days ago, pulled bailu along with acheron and got so excited just to find out bailu's useless now
I think if Hoyo introduced a system to evolve 4 stars to 5 stars they'd have a reason to go back and buff old units.
"Preservation characters are superior" as a fan of Lady Fu and Aven, I'd say your opinion is spot on!!!
Bailu has literally been my day 1 and first 5 star and never left my team. AND she clutches up when situation calls for it 💀
Huohuo still the goat of sustain tho.
But mainly gallagoat ftw
I feel like bringing out a game mode that deals high dmg and nullifies enemy shields or something could work to bring our healers back. In the mean time I'm not complaining and my Aventurine is overworked :'D
Bailu will never be useless for me. Especially if I can eventually make her E6
The need for sustain unit is not really about healing in late game but cleanse debuff, can do damage if your dps go to sleep.people keep down play sustain because right now for end game content there are no need for stamina like other gacha. The moments you can't reset that bad run for free that the moments you know the need of a sustain.
Good thing i didn’t lose my 50/50 on aventurine
I am aventurine main and he can be both sheilder and attacker so he is op
I think if they release more Self-Buffing enemies that can be removed, Luocha's value will increase a bit. We only have those mara struck enemies as main example. 😔😔😔
Bailu reviving had saved me a lot to get all stars
healers fix boo boos
shielders prevent boo boos from happening in the first place
healers can cleanse debuffs
meanwhile aventurine prevents debuffs from happening in the first place with his goddamn 55% effect res shield
@@lillyie I can’t bro, he’s just a demon

Yeah… the powercreep is real
Some more busted information on Aventurine: His E1 enhances his ultimate so that it gives a shield (equal to his skill’s shield) to the whole team. This, on top of everything else, makes him NASTY.
After Aventurine, HP is not matter anymore.
We can just jump in any battle with him and all of our team at 1 HP.
i always have Linxy or Baliu on my teams because of their healing alt it's saved me many times
Bailu the dragon lady is the goat u just need 100% effect res on everyone
Bailu would be easily S tier if we get introduced to a character who can aoe cleanse outside of abundance type
Then that new character would be S tier, Bailu really won’t, she’s still mid, not bad as a starter, but she really just heals, nothing more, she would be usable with that hypothetical character
I love that dragon Loli and will keep using her until I feel complete inside >:(
This is a simple consequence of "sustain" being a really simple role.
I'm over here on Welt sustain...
I tend to use healers against DOT enemies tho…
12:22 as an overwatch player I found this funny since most tanks have a little case of explosion syndrome since atheist from my experience explode as soon as you arrive to battle
And then with his E1 he also gets the skill on ultimate PLUS a 20% crit dmg buff to the whole team in conjunction with the basic ultimate debuff giving the 15% crit rate thing😅
Gepard will carry me next year
I started playing HSR during Archeron release banner. I don't think there will EVER be a pres unit that is as useful as Aventurine.
this isn't related to the video but it's cool to see a hsr youtuber whos also a big fe fan, the tellius games are also my favourite!
WOOOO I gotta admit not a huge radiant dawn person but path of radiance? Top 3-5 easy. Love that game
You forgot the 50% effect res Aventurine's shield gives 😂
