Honestly, I hope Netease does this. I would love a "Marvel Rivals Story Mode" with Marvel heroes based on this 4-6 heroes working together to make progress to save the Multiverse from the 2 Dr. Dooms. Seriously, Netease, give us what OW2 "promised" us but actually lied to us about and intentionally failed to give us. Show them how it's done and bury Blizzard for good. (And yes, I am one of the many suckers who did OW2 for the story mode, got burned by no story mode, and still very angry about it.)
I really really hope they do. Like short story campaigns with certain characters and cutscenes. I'm thinking a defenders one would be easiest to add, Daredevil, Punisher, Ironfist, Luke Cage and maybe Spiderman fighting against the Doom, The Hand and Fisk. Obviously an X-men campaign would be sick, but also a straight Avengers campaign could be awesome too.
“Sir, rivals just dropped 2 new heroes, a new map, a ton of high-quality cosmetics, and two event modes in a month. How do we compete? “Release the recolors.”
Oh yeah, that and 3rd person has a way better field of view than first person. Makes the game a lot less turning around or losing sight of who you're fighting (unless your Susan/Invisible Woman, but at least she's not SOMBRA levels of annoying and cheap).
Overwatch thinking they could make their skins 20$ was the funniest thing ever. And people bought it! Enjoy your new weapon skin that probably doesn’t look any different because you have the gold weapon too
@@arbre_mystique Meanwhile you get the entire pass that you can always progress in each season And if you complete it early and have extra of purple currency You can exchange them for yellow currency which is what you use for battlepass
hate playing dps in 3rd person though, makes tank and support the only viable roles. 3rd person shooting is like the most aggressive form of cancer a hero shooter can offer.
Yeah competition is great but Overwatch is just a better a game on a fundamental level. It is smoother, slicker, buttery smooth to control, has much more visual clarity. It’s a shame it has been so mismanaged. OW was pretty special when it came out. Rivals is pretty fun but it’s also a very sloppy, spammy, kinda button mashy version of the OW formula. The basic game feel of Overwatch is just better. Higher skill cap. More precise. Rivals is fun. It’s a solid game. I’m glad it’s doing well. But they’re winning because OW is at an all time low not because theyre exceptional.
Thats reportable for throwing in ranked anyways. you are expected to play the team ups. When asked. if you say no. its recorded. any report for throwing will go threw.

Role Queue is very unnecessary given the fact that team-ups can help change a match around like Hela reviving Loki and Thor, or Magik giving Psylocke and Black Panther a rewind like Tracer And if they continue with the trend they're going in, they could make Tank and Support more enticing for dps mains by adding cool/attractive characters like Ultron, Thanos or She-Hulk to those roles

Exactly in fact the meta right now is to have 3 supports and 1 tank and I think it is better to have flexibility than have a fixed role queue like they can still adjust nerf and buff heroes and thus change the meta
Call it coincidence but Overwatch has seemingly been playing "Monkey see, Monkey do" with Rivals when they do anything, especially when Rivals offered free skins during the winter event and Overwatch basically did the same thing despite not doing so before. The game's been putting them into panic mode and it's been beyond satisfying seeing them get their just-desserts.
Rivals: creates awesome fun game with free stuff and a way to get practically any skin in the game for free Overwatch: erm- uh wait up guys uh we got free skins now! Uh don’t forget about us look at us we have cool free stuff guys come back… please…. *GIVE US YOUR MONEY*

I'm totally ok with no role queue because me and my friends have fun rolling out a team with nothing but support, or 5 support 1 tank just for the heck of it. Role queuing would kill that. It limits creativity and forces you into certain roles you don't want to play. Or lets say you only play 1 kind of tank, if role queue puts you in the tank role and someone already claimed the tank you main, you're not going to have a fun time learning a new tank on the fly.
That's why, the smart thing would be an open-queue and a role-queue. Role-queue for the people actually trying to play the game. And Open-queue for the people just trying to have fun.
and you are allready forced into team ups The team up system is not optional refusing in ranked is throwing. You are co dependent on the other person. This is super tox. This will only change if they add more team ups and make every hero have at least one team up with another. Until then you have no choice and can be reported for throwing if its recorded that you where told to change and refused to obey.
@@choryllis6646 hero bans exist in full diamond lobbies so you would have to also address this as well. The team up system serves a better purpose than the role queue fill system.
While I tend to play the role I started a match with, I like that there is no role queue as it lets any of the players swap not just to a different character, but to a different role entirely.
Lack of role que has edge case benefits, is more fluid, and fun with a full stack. However, we're already seeing Rivals start to develop its own degen rolestacking metas, and open role/hero swaps tend to be a vector for a massive amount of thrown games and toxicity within solo matchmaking. Lack of role-que basically means I'm only playing the game when my friends are online, because I have 0 tolerance for the type of casual composition-level griefing that plagues these types of arena stratagy-action games. I'd go so far as to say that with the Synergy system, bad compositions are worse in Rivials than they ever were in Overwatch, while Rivials also lacks the guard-rails to force players into a composition that at minimum has all roles covered.
It's also reward people who can play multi roles especially in high elo because you can adapt into many strategy on the fly. For example, you can swap from tank to dps in case you want to use high dmg Ult of that dps
The lack of role queue is one of the worst things you can do to a competitive game. I've seen more people talk in a singleplayer game than in MR so people don't tend to switch off a role when it's not needed.
@ Not at all. Unwinable comps like 5 DPS genuinely ruin games like these. They're relatively rare, but they're one of the most unfun and toxic experiences you can have in gaming. I will never play Rivials without at least a 3 stack, on account of the lack of role-que.
Bro whenever I see gameplay of overwatch or remember playing it it just disgusts me for some reason, like even if you held me at gunpoint I would never touch that game again
For me it's: Marvel + 3rd Person + Player vs AI Mode with some progression elements like also able to get coins for BP (and hopefully someday PvE) + yes, also the Malice Skin(and psylocke, tho the game has in general great skins) which draw me in. Tho i'm only fully invested now since a friend of mine also decided to start it and have quite a lot fun with the game.
@chadjohnson2035 the fact I can see my WHOLE character while playing makes me wanna buy skins. Only seeing some arms/guns/a different profile pic discourages me from buying costumes in an 1st person game.
He asked if there's something about early January where people are hungry for games. Think of it like this. If you're a teenager or a young adult with limited income and you just got a new console or a new PC as a gift for Christmas then come January you're probably excitedly looking for new games to play on your new device.
@@geasslordzero especially free games that are fun and easy to get into as well. Not many multiplayer shooter games are easy to get into these days, especially good ones. Marvel rivals hits all these points perfectly, it's free, it's easy to get into and it also just looks good
If rivals gets a good PvE mode I'd definitely pick it up. That would be the greatest insult to OW if they can pull that off in the next 2 years while also developing their PvP mode haha.
The practice vs AI hard mode actually provides a solid challenge if that interests you, but you don't gain character proficiencies or achievements in that mode.
@@mpgodjr I'd agree if it wasn't Marvel lol, one of the only comp hero shooters that would benefit from having a story campaign you could play with your buddies. Especially as there's already a very dense storyline ongoing
The real question is, how can we stop from playing MR? This game is fun and quick and I don't feel stress over missing out, and yet I've missed a lot of my sleep time.
They'll ignore the fact it hit heights higher then overwatch apex and valorant but they'll still say "it'll be gone in a month/2 month/3 month/4 month/ etc month

Like how they used to show active subscriptions for WoW before the game started declining. Also no one's gonna by the implication that Overwatch is huge on another platform, when you consider the queue times and the social media engagement diff. Marvel Rivals is more popular wholesale. You aren't wrong in your technicality, but I highly doubt that combining the Steam and Battlenet numbers will make Overwatch look like the winner here.
We gotta remember, these guys were originally mobile game developers. They have mastered the arts of player retention and drip feeding content at a plausible rate. All hail Marvel Rivals. Successor of The Watched of Over, for Overwatch 2 is over… just you watch 😌
The fact that they warned us that things will be slowing down is a nice heads up. Blizzard just wouldn't talk to you for six months before the next update or whatever the hell they call it.
I haven’t played a hero shooter since TF2 about 15 years ago. I’ll admit, it’s not my kind of game. I’m not great at shooters However, I started to play earlier this month. I am having a blast playing as Mantis and C&D. I find it fun that I don’t have to be great at aiming to be effective in matches. The characters are gorgeous, most maps are fun, the design and UI are interesting. I like it a lot and although it’s my normal cup of tea, any good game that moves the medium forward should be supported, even from people like me. Thanks for the video.
before I say this, no hate cuz I love that you're loving the game, but Mantis does kinda need good aim to be 100% effective. however, she's still good regardless and I'm assuming you make her work. glad you're enjoying it so far :)
Also gotta think about how Rivals is also on console, and the 644k peak is only steam numbers, meaning it's highly likely the actual number is at least 1 million.
becouse lore wise hes captured by Dracula this is why we are escorting H.E.R.B.I.E to unlock the lost pages of the darkhold basically the Necronomicon. Also the cannon ending to the wakanda map is the bast statue is dillivered..but its currupted by Null(the symboite god shown in venom if you watched that) Thus Wakanda has basically fallen to darkness. The cannon team for the symboitic surface map is the guardians of the galaxy who where hired to basically do a hopless mission to the hart of nulls world
The FPS-tied issues regarding abilities is long since fixed, but how the game runs, it's on UE5, it will never run very good. It's up to the devs to make up for the shlock engines problems
The advantage that MR also has, is that it has almost infinite source materials to pull from, oh we have a hole in the meta? its vanguard you say? Which character out of the multitude of tanky characters can we choose from: Juggernaut, Rhino, Starbrand, Black Knight, Sandman, Beast.. etc. Its game over for OW. Creativity is dead at Blizz.
Not exactly the most intelligent of metrics to base things on but I couldn’t help but look at the Marvel rival channels’ views count and the jump between the initial videos only gaining a couple 100k views to the ones closest to launch trailer hitting just under a million views to Season 1’s trailer being around 3 million is just nutty too observe. The stampede is on.
To be fair, Marvel Rivals' theme is way cooler to a broad audience than Overwatch. I've never played hero shooters before, but being able to play as well known characters like Spiderman Ironman Captain America etc was a strong draw. Then the gameplay is actually so fun that im sticking with Rivals now.
I think Rivals needs to expand their arcade modes to truly capture the casual audience. They almost have the competitive audience, they have all the systems there including seasonal in game competitive tourney with cash prizes, they just have to make ranked more meaningful because as is it's hard to gauge how good someone is vs how much they've grinded through the ranks; you can get grandmaster with a sub 50% winrate which is kinda dumb.
You’re wrong; this is where the fun of the game lies. Overbalancing not only reduces the fun but can also ruin the game. I’ve been gaming for ten years and have a deep understanding of games. It’s the randomness, uncertainty, and luck that make games enjoyable. Those who constantly demand more competitiveness will ultimately destroy the game-just like what happened with Overwatch. I’ve already seen many examples like this. Please don’t let this game become another Overwatch and slowly die. Thank you.
If you can reach Grandmaster with a sub-50% win rate, that’s luck. Luck is also a form of victory, and that’s where the fun is-not what you call dumb. The essence of a game lies in uncertainty, chaos, and luck. If everything becomes balanced and predictable, it would be extremely boring, and the game will eventually die.
I feel like Marvel Rivals was developed to compete feature for feature with the game Overwatch 2 was supposed to be and advertised to be. Marvel Rivals knew they would need to match and/or exceed Overwatch 2's features and then hope they hit it with both the game play and the character/brand recognition. But then Overwatch 2 got almost all of it's selling features walked back and it is basically just Overwatch with some changes. So instead of launching to try and compete feature for feature, Rivals is exceeding in features at jump and OW2 is losing a lot of their player base since both games attract the same type of players it seems. My wife and I and a few other friends have not touched OW2 since Rivals came out and we've been playing quite a few hours weekly since it launched in 2016. Hell, I met my wife playing OW. So that tells you how good Rivals is doing when it comes to retaining OW/OW2 players.
attract the same type of players, is quickly turning out to be the problom that may harm the game soon. Those players tend to be the dregs of socity riff with sociel issues. As the first overwatch players where bad folk, leaveing leauge becouse they thought they would do better in OW. Not understanding that they are where they are, and what they are in league, due to mental and social issues they have
@ I never said MR was a copy. It is meant, like other games in similar genres, to try and compete with the games that are already established in a genre or sub-genre. Which means if OW2 had all these great features, MR needs to have AT LEAST those features at launch or near launch in order to entice people over and convince them it's the better game. But then OW2 backtracked all the new features it was supposed to have. Ex: Night/day cycles, destructible terrain, competent PVE with upgrade paths. MR not only has those features and matches OW2 features, but rumor is they have full PVE coming. The MR devs came to compete and hopefully win, but with OW2 mostly just milking the same cow, MR is easily getting people to stay with their game. I'm one of them. I haven't touched OW2 since MR came out.
Thinking about it, I think no role queue kind of helps the skin situation, if its expected people will flex (be able to play the different roles at the same skill lvl) then you won't be as mad when your "main" doesn't get a skin because the assumption is you already have AT LEAST 2-3 different heroes you regularly switch between, one huge issue in overwatch was the fact that even if you were in role queue, people would pick one singular hero anyway, which, again, switching within your role is incentivized in marvel rivals with the team up abilities!!!
Tbh this is how you should do a hero shooter with a big roster. Constant new characters so a meta cannot form. Constant new maps so you can't get used to any of them that well. Like in this pace in a competetive sense, you'll be able to in some years specialise in some niche character you like and the enemy will just go "Wtf I haven't seen this character in several months how are they doing all this". Because adapting to an unknown situation is a genuine skill in these types of games. Slow releases removes the use of that skill and makes it exclusively a mechanical difference thing, which stagnates the game and makes it less fun because you already know what's coming.
Please NO Role Queue & NO Over Balance of the game! OW is BORING for many casual players because all characters feel the same! We want the game to be FUN instead of being "Balanced to the Death"! I just play the game for fun, not E-sport competition!
Honestly, you could make the argument that they kinda already have pve with the bots that they currently have to the game, all they would have to do is add some cutscenes and story to it. Maybe an official campaign mode. Like mobile game quality nothing too big. It’s more feasible than you think
Another thing that brought in a lot of players was Geforce Now getting access to it. Because the same day Season 1 dropped, Geforce got access to run it.
I'm not sure I see the problem with that.... if you don't complete the thing you didn't buy then it's just expired... if you BUY it, it won't expire.... just complete the free portion or buy it? There is significantly less to complete with the free version as well so if you play even slightly regularly it shouldn't be hard to get the free things.
@@benjaminseverinsen8713 I think it might eventually become an issue with FOMO. Personally I have no interest in even trying out Fortnite _because_ of how much stuff is there already, and how much of it, is essentially out of my reach forever, it's all just cosmetics (let's be real, that's all there really is to the game), but since I didn't play during the John Wick or Naruto skins, I will never have them.
@@benjaminseverinsen8713 I mean it's a good step in the right direction. In most other instances with BP, you pay for it and the thing paid for get taken away after the season because god forbid you've a life or not just play that on particular game. So to make it so you keep it infinitely if you bought it atleast doesn't rip off their consumers. But it still creates an enviroment of FOMO because people will feel now obligated to get these so they might not miss out by chance a potential skin they might like to have in the future, but don't have the time now to grind for it etc... as well kinda unfairly gates out newcomers which might join later and also would've loved to get these. So this iteration is better but not perfect (like as example how Halo Infinite or Minecraft Dungeons did). Tho honestly, i personally have rather an issue with the progression-system of the BP.
I've some of the best memories from the early Overwatch 1 days but let's be honest here after Overwatch launched in 2016 it was already clear within the first couple of months that Blizzard didn't have any sense how to support it post launch.
I’m concerned about the skins for characters because there are gonna be so many characters that the chances of your main getting a skin will be very slim and you’ll probably only get a skin every couple months for your fav
Palworld and Marvel Rivals update releasing around this time is likely a mix of factors. The upcoming Lunar New Year is huge in China, with more leisure time and spending during the holiday. Plus, January is usually a quiet period for Western game launches, giving these games a chance to stand out globally with less competition. I know that Palworld is Japanese-developed, but it has seen big success in China, so I think it benefits from the same timing too and the devs counted with it.
I feel sorry for Overwatch players. They never got to enjoy the beauty of third person. Imagine playing Tracer for years, but never being able to see her fine ass while you're charging into battle. Thank god for Psylocke.
fr, it's actually a good point about the value of skins. People put a lot more value in skins when they get to see them more often. I am rarely tempted to by skins for games, but Rivals is tempting because I actually get to enjoy the visuals, rather than just doing it for attention / clout.
@@adjwindu70 I think what they meant is they're going to release a new hero every 6 weeks on average. Means they might release 2 heros at once 3 months after the last one or 3 heros after 4 months etc etc Also, at least a third of the work is pretty much done for any hero, specifically the art and ability design. Since it's an established IP, devs don't have to rack their brains on how they look like and what abilities they generally have.
Keep in mind that yes you can keep access to previous battlepasses in rivals but you do not keep the currency you use to unlock battlepass items between seasons so if you fall behind in rivals battlepass progress you will end up spending money. Eventually... but it's not nearly as egregious as the similar companies who also have battlepass systems.
I think why player reception changed so greatly couldn’t just be put on getting it hands on, but also the fact that they listened to the fans input and changed stuff like skins, colors of abilities, and some abilities entirely.
What I love about Rivals is that I can be comp at times, so when I have the urge to compete, I play comp, but more often than not I just wanna play a bit and then get out and I can do that in game too.
It proves that if you build it, people will come. Word spreads around social groups and all it takes is to make one person happy. We will see a dip surely when the game ages but if they keep with this motivation going for continuing to develop content - it will stay alive.
well, I know from other netease games that they don't release skins equally. They just make skins for the most popular characters and thet left lots of forgotten ones.
Being hyped for future releases announced in December, January would give us the fix we want while we as gamers just saw several hype trains get started
The devs said they dont want to consider role que as of the team ups are a feature that lets you do a variety of many different damage team-up abilities and teamwork
Anyone disagreeing with this fundamentally doesn't understand how role queue kills comp hero shooters. It especially doesn't work with Rivals due to how fluid most characters are, almost no character is exclusively just one role. (Aside from the obvious ones like Punisher being just DPS)
No limitations does allow for more possible comps, but the extreme comps with less than 2 supports are almost always terrible. Over Watch introduced role queue to fix the stale meta, and it didn't work. That's because role queue/lock isn't actually the fix. good balance is. Brig broke OW, easy AOE sustain breaks games. Which is what Rivals is struggling with right now.
The only context I’d like to see is role queue is a stand alone mode that they publicly release the concurrency numbers so we see if people actually play quick play in role queue or open format more. If the concurrency numbers are lower for role queue then can the people asking for it shut up?
No role que at all. you are forced to play team ups allready. Saying no when told to do so. is recorded and a report for throwing will go threw and be actioned. I know becouse i've reported multple people for it in multple games .all have been ban as it tells you when they are actioned. At least in ranked
@@MauseDays I agree and I’m so confident that it would be more popular, but ranked is different than quick play. How high up does that start because I haven’t seen that myself but I’ve only recently hit Platinum 3 which doesn’t have character bans.
Imagine if they also announce a battle royal mode, basically a better deathmatch mode, and you can be solo or team-up with others max 4 or 6 players per team.
While you're right, I feel it is more fitting to simply say it is getting *_Blizzarded_* - Blizzard's own greed and ego is killing their beloved games and franchises
Season 1 of Rivals has 4 heroes and 3 maps. If every subsequent season has 2 heroes and 1-2 maps, it'd still be a lot of content I wonder if season 1 was so big because of Chinese New Year and we could get another big season say during Christmas or something
about the part involving the $40 bundle "having exclusive skins" they changed that in like season 8. you can buy them directly from the hero gallery even if you dont buy the bundle.
To keep up with skin output, they'd have to have a team as big as Fortnite's tbh. They'll have to release like 2-4 skins per week as more characters get added so we don't end up with what Overwatch has with nothing but Kiriko and Mercy skins
To be fair, a lot of the work is already done for them. It is much easier to import and adapt an already existing skin from one of the older comics issues than coming up with something original yourself, so in that respect thy have less to do in order to implement new, and importantly, cool, skins.
Granted, we might actually get that. Because skins tend to sell better in third-party games. Although instead of doing it per week, they will probably still keep skins on seasonal releases. So like 12 skins per season would suffice. Not to mention the design process is shorter since there's a wealth of design work already done through the comics.
Not so sure with the equal skin output there, because we literally got skins for Dr. Strange and Mantis right after they got skins in the battle pass lol
As "competitive" goes, this game is showing a lot of flaws, there's like 10 Brigittes out there (not even joking, considering the power creep and low skill = reward, this game has plenty of this obnoxious shit). But if you avoid solo queuing for "competitive" and close the open chat, that diminishes the frustration by a considerable margin. The game is fun with some well designed characters and maps here and there, great visuals... at the same time, tons of flaws. People are still going through the "honeymoon phase", hope the devs don't get accommodated with their horrendous balancing decisions
you can counter mantis, luna, cap, cloak and dagger, loki ults easily by using one of MANY one-shot/cc (jeff)/insanely high dps ults you can easily counterpick these "brigittes" as you refer to them
Funny thing is, thematically, OW2 was supposed to be the comeback story for the then broken and separated Overwatch heroes. But ironically, the game itself just went the same way as its own backstory and completely reneged on the hope aspect due to mismanagement and greed.
I like the game but I am worried about the supports rn, cycling Luna, Mantis and Invisible women ult kindove break the game right now. Nerf support ults and I think it brings the meta in line much more. Games still infinitely better then OW tho
due to comp match up in OW making it a sweat feast just to win 1 game , while rivals win on loss you get to play your fav super hero if the stars aligned you get to do some super combos
I played Rivals first time, used Storm without any knowledge or preparation and learned it while playing, then razed the match with 23 kills without dying once. ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF ALL TIME 💯💯💯
Games like Marvels Rivals are needed ! The industry got complacent with releasing slop, which basically opened the market up for easy market share swipes by any developer that's taking it seriously. Hopefully, when companies realise how much they've opened themselves up to competition, they'll start focusing on making good games again instead of just boiling the already boiled frog.
I’m getting on soon. I spent my day hanging out at my moms house, had lunch and watched a movie, then we made a lasagna together for dinner. I’m about ready for a nap
Popular games that launched in January: Resident Evil 2/ Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 4, Kingdom Hearts III, Monster Hunter World, *Marvel Rivals*
Marvel Rival doesn't need role queue at all, just dps player should give a try to vanguard(tank) and strategist(support), they both are really fun to play as well as duelist(dps)
Correct, you are forced to play team ups already. So its slef policed, saying no when told to do so. is recorded and considered a serious infraction. a report for throwing in this scenario. will go threw and be actioned. I know becouse i've reported multiple people for it in multiple games .all have been ban within hours as it tells you when they are actioned. At least in ranked. Remember that before you think you can say no. You CAN say no but you risk disciplinary action.
I was actually kinda surprised that Marvel Rivals might have some serious staying power. Even as a Marvel Rivals fan, I totally thought public interest would taper off gradually
Team ups basically makes role queue irrelevant and the way it works is that it makes certain team builds be established ( 3 dps with magik, 2 support and 1 dps with Luna, etc) So no, team ups would not be compatible with role queue in place as the niche for establishing certain builds is already there.
january is a good release window for content and games because by then most people are done with their christmas gifted games or return from their holiday break with the family and have more time to play games again.
The people involved with their marketing are also big comic book fans. The announcement video for season 1 had a bunch of terms that seems corny or mundane for the average consumer, but if know some of the history of Marvel comics these terms are little easter eggs that are winking at the fans saying "we know what we are doing"
While i don't think rivals should get a role queue system, i do wish they added some form of change for when you have a team with 4 or 5 dps. It sucks when you know you're gonna have a bad game cos everyone else refuses to use the other two roles, and leaving gives you penalties even if you do so at the character select screen or even if others have left the game. I think a good idea to help make it tolerable at least would be to give a mild team up buff that gives like +50 hp to the dps, or perhaps something similar to overwatch where you heal slightly outside of combat. Also, i hope they make leaving a game less penalized depending on the circumstances, like leaving at the very start or when half your team has left already. For context though, I'm only speaking of Quickplay here as competitive is its own ballpark with different rules.
I'm so happy to hear it won't be 4 heroes every season. I was legit worried after like a year new players would stop joining because thr roster would be overwhelming like LoL you gotta learn 175 heroes to know how to counter them even if you never play as them.
I've never played a hero shooter before and havent even really been a marvel fan for like, a decade, but this game changed my mind haha. I have been having so much fun playing it!
The thing I never understood with expiring battle passes was, can't they make a boatload of money by selling people old season passes? As it is now, it is just dead content but if you just don't let them expire people who are new to the game may not just buy the current pass but all the old ones as well.
Honestly no role que is needed. Im very happy with having semi tanks in the dps slot like wolverine and mr fantastic. The biggest issue is how strong healers are and how strong 3 supports are.
There has been an idea floated around that rather then a role queue a role lock system would be helpful for ranked. Basically once 3 of any specific class locked in then it would lock that class out, personally after seeing some of the lower ranked teams in ranked I would like that kind of system. Its rough in competitive when you get all dps players, but there shouldn't be any locked or bans in quick play. I would like bans to be available earlier in ranked too personally but part of that is cause you rank goes back down each season and ranking up again kinda sucks lol.
I compare marvel rival mystic skin as "rare" skin cause it got the same price as apex rare skin(i forgot the price) but leabing more toward mystic level apex skin which you can see character ,got badass opening and closing and and it felt like apex mystic weapon(eqch hero own weapon)
I wouldn't mind some kind of soft role queue. I absolutely agree with the developers here that people should be allowed to have the flexibility to play whatever team compositions they want, whether that's 2/2/2 or 6 of just one class. But if they could design a system that ensured there was a healthy mix of player types on each team that might help to reduce the unintentional 6 DPS stacks. Maybe they could automate it. Have the system look at what character roles each player actually plays by averages, and then try to place them with a mixed group in the queue. There's no restriction that you have to keep playing those characters/roles, but player preferences are balanced to try and satisfy everyone. Could backfire slightly where flex players get pigeonholed into a role main because they have been stuck filling that role all season, but I doubt that's worse than doing nothing. Again, any system I would support would have no hard restrictions. Any team comp is allowed, which means that any player is free to play any hero at any time. I'm just trying to group by preference so that everyone on the team is happy playing a roll that contributes to a balanced team.
I think with seasons having themes means we could get some season in the future with 3 or 4 characters again as big surprise events. Like an X-men season. Give us Jean and cyclops and finish the mid season with professor x and some all new team ups or something like that
The one thing that annoys me with Rivals is how they do the battlepass. In order to gain the currency you need to unlock items you have to complete challenges. Many of which involve playing a certain game mode or character, which you might not be any good at. So you are continually forced to swap characters and classes in order to get the currency. You can't just play games and unlock currency. Also once you've done your dailies and weekly challenges there's no way to unlock anymore currency until the next dailies or weekly. Daily and weekly challenges obviously happens in Overwatch too, but in Overwatch you still gain XP every match which adds to your progression along the battlepass.
I get it but once you buy, you can finish whenever you.want even after the season so it doesn't matter. Also ypu can refresh the mission and the mission can be completed in ai mode
I agree with the quests that forces you to play a certain way that's a hassle but not gaining anymore currency when you finish all the dailies and weeklies is a good thing. They actually want you to stop playing and not get you that addicted to the game.
You also have to consider that the ow2 steam chart number might start dropping because china is gonna get their own launcher back. A lot of Chinese players have reported using their own means to play in steam in china, and they’ve already said that once blizzard releases the Chinese version ow, they are switching to that since it’s officially supported.
It's misleading to call mythic prisms misleading, it literally just serves as a replacement for the mythic skin in the pass, but better. Even if you don't finish the pass you still get part of the way to a mythic. It also gives players a choice of what mythic they want in a hero shooter is nice because most players aren't going to want or use every one of them. You can spend money on the prisms but the choice to buy them doesn't take away anything about what I said. If you couldn't buy them it wouldn't be any better.
Blizzard is just getting stomped. D4 has completely fallen off, and everyone is flooding into PoE2. Now, the same thing is happening with Rivals and OW2. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
To those asking for "role queue" in Rivals... Why? Having separate queues starts dividing the pool of players in each queue. Part of what I personally find annoying about OW2 at the moment is that certain queues are so thin right now you can get the same players match after match about 40% of the time.
If they put out a PVE mode, it will be the ultimate coffin nail and FU to Overwatch.
I believe there's leaked gameplay of a possible pve mode somewhere on the internet

Need a No Limits Arcade mode. Peak Overwatch was being able to stack 6 Roadhogs, imagine a team of 6 Lokis, or Namors.

@@mpgodjr Wonderfully insightful response with great logic and eloquently stated. Your logic can not be undermined!
@amerikaOnFire Well it's true. MR wasn't made to copy Overwatch. It does copy it A LOT. But it wasn't made for it.
I'm a gamer for 15+ years now and trust me if i tell you it's been a while when i had this much fun with a game, deff worth the battlepass!
Non expiring battle passes should absolutely be the norm.
If you don't pay for the battle pass, it does expire though. There's currently no way to access the season 0 battlepass if you didn't pay for it.

I just wanted to point out that while S1's Blood Moon is similar to the comic event Blood Hunt, they are actually quite different storywise.
I feel sorry for Overwatch players. They never got to enjoy the beauty of third person. Imagine playing Tracer for years, but never being able to see her fine ass while you're charging into battle.
Thank god for Psylocke.
@@kira-dk2mx tracer has a small ass tbh lol, even Scout from TF2 has a bigger one than her
fr, it's actually a good point about the value of skins. People put a lot more value in skins when they get to see them more often. I am rarely tempted to by skins for games, but Rivals is tempting because I actually get to enjoy the visuals, rather than just doing it for attention / clout.
Thank god for Psylocke.
And Dagger.
And Invisible Woman - especially Malice skin.

Im having a hard time believing they will release a new hero every 6 weeks without burning out the dev team.
@@adjwindu70 I think what they meant is they're going to release a new hero every 6 weeks on average.
Means they might release 2 heros at once 3 months after the last one or 3 heros after 4 months etc etc
Also, at least a third of the work is pretty much done for any hero, specifically the art and ability design.
I am more surprised that NetEase would accept Blizzard after that messy break up last time. Blizzard seems desperate.
Overwatch doesn't even have the pron anymore. the artists moved to Rivals as-well 😂
What I love about Rivals is that I can be comp at times, so when I have the urge to compete, I play comp, but more often than not I just wanna play a bit and then get out and I can do that in game too.
Not having role queue might allow for more creativity in countering team comps, which could keep stale METAs from forming as easily
Anyone disagreeing with this fundamentally doesn't understand how role queue kills comp hero shooters. It especially doesn't work with Rivals due to how fluid most characters are, almost no character is exclusively just one role. (Aside from the obvious ones like Punisher being just DPS)
@@TepigIsHot hero bans are a thing in full diamond lobbies.
@ well, I do worry that you might have weird circumstances where one role is significantly better than the others so you have GOATS come back
No limitations does allow for more possible comps, but the extreme comps with less than 2 supports are almost always terrible.
@@MauseDayswe get it. Stop the copy pasting.. you want role queue. 😂 cool
Thats advantage of rivals....the source material of the game is MASSIVE
Overwatch is getting battleborn-ed
While you're right, I feel it is more fitting to simply say it is getting *_Blizzarded_* - Blizzard's own greed and ego is killing their beloved games and franchises
Season 1 of Rivals has 4 heroes and 3 maps. If every subsequent season has 2 heroes and 1-2 maps, it'd still be a lot of content
I wonder if season 1 was so big because of Chinese New Year and we could get another big season say during Christmas or something
about the part involving the $40 bundle "having exclusive skins"
they changed that in like season 8. you can buy them directly from the hero gallery even if you dont buy the bundle.
They changed thier mind on that since, you now require to buy the whole bundle again to get the skins.
To keep up with skin output, they'd have to have a team as big as Fortnite's tbh. They'll have to release like 2-4 skins per week as more characters get added so we don't end up with what Overwatch has with nothing but Kiriko and Mercy skins
its only right for less popular hears to be neglected
Granted the Kiriko/Mercy skins are great.
People are still going through the "honeymoon phase", hope the devs don't get accommodated with their horrendous balancing decisions
you can counter mantis, luna, cap, cloak and dagger, loki ults easily by using one of MANY one-shot/cc (jeff)/insanely high dps ults
you can easily counterpick these "brigittes" as you refer to them
It's beyond retention. It gained numbers post launch. That's huge.
One voiceline from overwatch has stuck with me for years, but with a little difference...
Ana: everything dies.
Rivals only reminded me of how good overwatch was
Imagine they pulled one good segment of an arc in the comics, make it a pve scenario and release skins for that
I feel like the monetization aspects was GREATLY shaped by the HUGE backlash of the SWBFEA2 in 2017, Disney learned their lessen it seemed.
Go for NetEase, after how they were treated by Bobby Kotich.
and the heroes are so deep that it’ll take at LEAST three of each of those six weeks to unlock each new hero’s full potential
I played Rivals first time, used Storm without any knowledge or preparation and learned it while playing, then razed the match with 23 kills without dying once.
ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF ALL TIME 💯💯💯
Why does the Steam charts look like V-Tach?! 0:24
@@Danthecapoman because people got to bed. If you look at any game it does the same thing.
They just showing what's happening to overwatch rn.
Team ups basically makes role queue irrelevant and the way it works is that it makes certain team builds be established ( 3 dps with magik, 2 support and 1 dps with Luna, etc)
So no, team ups would not be compatible with role queue in place as the niche for establishing certain builds is already there.
january is a good release window for content and games because by then most people are done with their christmas gifted games or return from their holiday break with the family and have more time to play games again.
I would like bans to be available earlier in ranked too personally but part of that is cause you rank goes back down each season and ranking up again kinda sucks lol.
the main problem isnt that its not sustainable to have 1 every 3 weeks, its trying to balance so many new heroes
@@ShaunLevett fuck that you buy it and you have it forever, that in itself is a W in my book
They should make it easier to complete
@@Moneyman49442 exactly!
