it is a very good song in a different musical style, cabaret type, set in another era
"Money money money"
is the single that followed
"Dancing Queen"
and reached # 3 in the UK, #1 in Australia and several European countries.
It is a totally different song from its predecessor "Dancing Queen" and also from its successor "Knowing me knowing you"
This is the versatility of ABBA, they go from genre to genre, as well as from success to success
The song lends itself very well to the brunette Frida's lower voice, the choruses are sharper in contrast (and very catchy) The instrumentation is excellent
The official video is one of ABBA's best, very creative, it shows Them in fashion situations and also with their famous kimonos

You might like to see ANNI-FRID LYNGSTAD (opera) I think she is singing a little piece from Rossini - That's the style anyway. She hams it up a bit at the end, messing around and it's delightfully silly. Also, included in this clip with Frida, amongst the little group's jam session, are the sadly missed Andy Gibb and Olivia Newton-John.

I've never heard that sample before. ABBA are extremely protective of their music and I can only think of two major times that they have allowed their songs to be sampled. Madonna with 'Hung Up' is well known but the hip-hop group, Fugees sampled ABBA's 'The Name Of The Game' to great effect for their tribute to Muhammad Ali in 'Rumble In The Jungle'. Try 'Knowing Me Knowing You', 'The Name of the Game', 'Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)', 'Fernando', 'SOS', 'Dancing Queen' (which I'm sure you know), and of course the amazing and groundbraking 'The Visitors', the title track from their last album, not typical ABBA, made after the two couples' divorces and not long before they broke up, wherefore it's gloomy and different and experimental, however in a fabulous way, of course (doesn't have any video though).

Interesting story about Frida ( the redhead). She's the only one of the four who's not native-born Swedish. She was born next door in Norway. Her father was a Third Reich soldier, & due to the shame her mother felt from having a child fathered by a Nazi, they moved to Sweden (which the Germans didn't occupy) to avoid, or at minimize any discrimination they might face remaining in Norway. People perceived to have been collaborators were shunned (at best). Anyway, it seems it all turned out pretty well for her.. She?'s been living in Switzerland for a few decades now, & of course, is quite "well-to-do".

@@Bklynreau But it's only half true. Frida's father wasn't a nazi so her mother couldn't feel shame that her child had a nazi father. But the Norwegian women who had an affair with a German soldier were hated and abused and therefore also their children, though these children had no fault of anything. So Frida and her grandmother fled to Sweden and Frida's mother did that too a few months later when she couldn't stand the hate anymore and wanted to be together with her daughter again. But a few weeks later she died with kidney failure before Frida was two years old. Her father was back in Germany and she thought he was dead, so she was an orphan until 1978 where she found out that he is still alive. If you are interested in the stories of all four ABBA members I recommend you the book "Bright Lights, Dark Shadows - The Real Story Of ABBA" from Carl Magnus Palm. It has 600 pages but it's worth reading.

Not personally one of my favourite groups, but extremely memorable. I can recall at least 10 of there songs off by heart, and while many people can name either Mama Mia, Waterloo, and Dancing Queen, for me its; Money Money Money, Thank You For The Music, and The Winner Takes It All, which incidentally was written and preformed during their respected divorces, giving the song more emotional weight! They get my full respect.

Another great reaction my friend! I am so happy when they let Frida lead. Agnetha has the stronger voice but Frida brings the texture and interesting elements! They are nominated for 4 Grammy's for the album they released last year. Check out Frida on the track "I Still Have Faith in You" She is 77 but still sounds so good and ABBA's sound is still around!
