ABBA were furious when they learned that their manager (or maybe publisher?) gave permission to Edelweiss for using S.O.S on "Bring Me Edelweiss".
There was an English version of "99 Luftballons", titled "99 Red Balloons". It ranked #1 on the UK single charts, the German version ranked #2 on the US charts.
Milli Vanilli became synonymous for lypsyncing to playback performers as the two guys representing the group weren't the actual singers. Caused a mayjor backlash when it was exposed which brought one of them into alcohol & drxgs, sadly a combination of both led to his passing at the age of 33. The other one now performs under the stage name Milli Vanilli, singing himself.

The reason why Milli Vanilli is on this list, is because it was produced by Frank Farian , the same person who helped Boney M.bproducing they songs.
RIP Frank Farian, one of the greats. Died this year in January.
Also for your question, you could react to Rock Me Amadeus by Falco (with english translation), Major Tom by Peter Schilling (it has a english version like Nenas Song)
or Das Omen Teil 1 by Mysterious Art
and 3:43 the song title is simple "Men", a song about "clichés" of men's but also stuff that isn't typical for men. Also it includes several time the question "When is a man a man?"(background was the topic of the different roles of men and women at the time)

Nicole won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1982 with that song, being the first German who won the prize.
Spider Murphy Gang were a band from Munich, Bavaria, who said that their name was inspired by Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock", where there's the line "Spider Murphy's playing on the saxophone". They wanted to play plain rock'n'roll without fussing around, combing it with "standard German" and Bavarian lyrics.
Nena's "99 Luftballons", I think, even hit the U.S. charts as "99 Red Balloons", the English version sung by herself. It was an anti-war song. (Remember, we had the "cold war" back then.)
Modern Talking were controversial back in the days because you couldn't avoid hearing at least one of their songs on the radio or even in clubs, and they all sounded much the same, and the lyrics were simple and sometimes plain stupid.
The Other Ones, yeah, never knew the band name, but "Holiday" of course was a song everybody knew. I liked it.
Edelweiß were, as far as I remember, a "one hit wonder". Never noticed the similarity to Abba's "SOS", but now as you say it, I think I'll have to listen to the full song again.
Well, alright, good compilation. Glad you remembered some tunes. Was a long time ago, no wonder you can't remember details.

Fend rich, EAV (the mask was from the penguin costume, cause their vids in the 80s had some cartoons in it or in the cover and they were a “funny” troop), Falco (not really pop, but rap) and opus (life is life) are all Austrians. Falcons “jeanny” was forbidden on the radios before midnight, cause the song and vid were very controversial at the time (stalker catches the girl and kills her), eav had funny songs but with a very social undertone, fendrich had the typical famous (in the 80) Austrian pop vibe “true and critical, but make it fun) (others in his league were more critical and dark). Milli Vanilli were tragic story. The producer was the liar and the asshole, but all the blame tsunamid on the guys. Frank farian (the producer, also did the same with Bonny M) worked until his death and was never really blamed or ridiculould for his actions.

They have all been German songs, some only for the German market, other for the international market and therefore sung in English. Many strange songs made it into the charts because the chats in Germany were split in two. Best-selling songs and singles, the single charts were charged separately. Due to mass-produced records (LPs) with various artists that were sold for very little money in supermarkets, even exotic songs made it into the German charts. However, no one would have bought a single or album from these artists.

The Edelweiss story is as funny as unique. The English electropop/art project duo KLF (also known as Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu/JAMMs/The Timelords) wrote a satirical but also exact manual called The Manual (yes) about making top list hits (based on their struggles, successes and other experiences in the music industry) and the Austrian group - a similarly anarchic bunch of friends - used it step by step to make 'Bring Me Edelweiss'. The outcome: Nr.1. spot in 6 countries and Top 10 status in 10 others. (I don't know Cauty and Drummond - the KLF guys - what did feel when saw the Viennese team's success by an ABBA parody - after the Swedish quartet and its management torpedoed their own earlier Dancing Queen caricature, 'The Queen & I' - but I wouldn't be surprised if they had some mild sneer on their face... 😀)

As a decades-long ABBA fan, I am deeply ashamed to admit that I never noticed "Bring me Edelweiß" was an ABBA rip-off. I remember the time when Bring me Edelweiß was played endlessly on the German radio. In my defense, I can only say that "S.O.S." has always been one of my least favorite ABBA songs. Kudos to you for spotting the similarity!
I now also notice that the tropical-bird-like screams in Edelweiß are directly copied from "Falco - Amadeus", they are identical but shorter.

    Minute 5:26 - i am confused.
You ask for comments (and i did some this time again) - But on a serious note, i have watched multiple reactors to stuff, so thats how you got into my algorithm.
You don't seem to react at all to comments... which is kind of sad?
Because i did exactly that to another video of yours: comment my experience, mentioned stongs and... nothing happend - 2 weeks later and i have come to the conclusion that you don't react to yt comments at all...?
sry but thats kind if a red flag (imho)

7:03 - Was soll das ? - You know him, Herber Grönemeyer, the german bruce springsteen for sure for his art but you are unaware of that.
War correspendent WERNER on board of a glorious famous german submarine leaving lorient and fignthing the weather and oceans in
DAS BOOT - under command of the Kaleu or Kapitänleutnant, commander of the submarine aka Jürgen Prochnow, the silent young old boy.
Remember his small dialogs about the situation at home and the famous leader with his paroles that the thommy is dead - but now when convoy after convoy get through the blocade and reach the UK and his comments about the old guard THOMSEN, that famous moment, when they passed the submarine of Thomsen the guy and commander who had held a speech in the first scene in the officers night club where he discusses the abilities of the unbewifed leader and his unlimited abilities to lead even a navy in his own wisdom.
And if you find the sequences about THOMSEN then there is one final moment and unknown hero: the chief machine guy aka Johann der Geist or Johann the ghost who used a hearing aid to listen to his engines, ice of cause and electric too.
