Haircut... group setting in which every member of the group is in his own self-involved bubble... the room done up in a vain attempt to mask the depression with a façade of superficial cheeriness... Definitely rehab.
15:17 It's the first time we've seen Jamie's mom, but it's not the first time we've heard about her. In season 1, Jamie talked about her when the team did that ritual to break the curse: "These aren't my first boots or anything. My mum gave 'em me. She was the one who got me into football in the first place. Her and me dad split up when I was just a sexy little baby. She's the reason I work so hard. Just wanted to make her proud. She doesn't even care if I'm any good. Just wants me to be happy. Be a good lad....I wonder if sometimes I forget about making her proud. I don't think that she would be lately." And he talks about her to Roy in the Amsterdam episode. He says that the two of them took a trip to Amsterdam together a couple years after the trip where his dad took him to the red light district.
I think it was more the fact that Jamie didn’t celebrate the goal he scored. Players show respect to their former teams by not celebrating goals scored against them.
i think a lot of times sports fans will be against the other teams players 99% of the time but the moment Jamie made it 2-0 the game was sealed and the fans were able to give their hometown kid a standing ovation for a great performance.
Playing through a serious injury is a huge deal. He was using crutches after the game. Fans aren’t stupid, he’s their guy. They probably all had a notion in their minds that he was soft, since he left them for the reality show. So him proving all of them wrong was a huge moment for everyone
I actually experienced something very similar to Jaimie's Return to Man City. Back in the day, when Jürgen Klinsmann left his hometown club Stuttgart, people were totally gutted. Years later, when he came back with an opposing team, he got so much abuse, it was crazy. But while angry, everyone knew what an outstanding player he was. After the match, he walked to the Stuttgart stand, paid the fans respect, and applauded them and they answered with a standing ovation. Even in the heat of the game, people will eventually respect an outstanding talent.
It might also refer to a Barcelona v Real Betis game where Betis fans gave Messi a standing ovation after a superb performance th-cam.com/users/shortsU8hCaiUo1UE?feature=share
We did hear about Jamie's mum back in season 1, just before Rebecca sent him back to Man City, when they were all burning something to get rid of the curse. He spoke about how she was the reason he got into football, and that he wanted to make her proud, but had forgotten about that because he was so focused on being so tough that his dad couldn't call him soft. Also, I searched it up and the age difference between the actors for Jamie's mum and dad is only 6 years, she just looks great for her age.
For Jamie's dad, it looks like he is in rehab; there is a lot of coffee, orange juice, and bagels around him when you see him watching the game. When you saw his dad previously, he was drunk.
We mistook Jades Stoic behavior was mostly because she was Polish. It was more a cultural attitude than snobbery. Sort of like "He's not rude he's Dutch"
As a Manchester City fan, I loved Pep Guardiola's cameo. He's been referenced and mentioned so many times, it was great to finally see him appear in the show. I also loved that it was Isaac, Colin and Will who came to ask Nate to come back to Richmond. Isaac and Colin being two of the people who bullied and made fun of him at the start and Will being the one that Nate bullied
Honesty I am a man of "moments" I don't need entire episodes to be good I need a few seconds I can relive over and over - the delivery from Roy when he goes through a range of expressions while Jamie cries - confusion, shock, the way he delivers "woah" like he's seeing the aurora borealis - that is acting.
Beard had the hardest time forgiving Nate because of how intensely loyal Beard is to Ted and in that scene with Beard and Nate we learn why: if not for Ted, where would Beard be now? When I lived in Wichita, Kansas there was this little strip mall bakery that made a sunflower-honey wheat bread that was absolutely amazing! And yes, the sunflower is Kansas' state flower.
With the standing ovation from the Man City fans, that does happen in football, very rarely, when a player scores an exceptional goal or has a great performance. And from what they showed, he scored an amazing solo goal, dribbling past several players and scoring from distance, and then he didn't celebrate against them since it's his old club, so I don't find it surprising that they clapped him off the field.
I thought Beard's history explained why he's done so many "unconventional" things throughout his life, but also why he's so closed off and distant to pretty much everybody but Ted (and Jane, but I'm sort of wondering if they maybe have similar life stories that draws them together) I don't think the age difference between Jamie's parents may be as big as you may be thinking. It's probably around 6 or so years, but the dad looks aged because of the lifestyle that he's lived (heavy drinking, maybe drug abuse). Seeing his dad in a rehab facility looking cleaned up was not what I had on my bingo card for this season.
This show nailed the big moments. A few of my favorite smaller moments were Jamie's mom calling him a sexy little babeh which was an awesome callback, Roy calling the journalist "better Trent', and Beard/Keeley using Roys mannerisms with Jeeley using the deep voice when she saw the Kent poster in Jamies room and Beard saying "FUCKKK"
Season 1 Roy: "This prick needs to be taken down a few pegs!" Season 3 Roy: "Too many pegs! Too many pegs! Abort! Abort!" I also hated how people kept ignoring Keeley's reactions, words and feelings. Her speech to Rebecca at the end of 3x10 right when Roy enters the shot is sooo telling; in this episode she keeps saying she and Roy are just friends, she was almost panicked when she thought Roy wanted to talk about their one night stand, and she looked stricken when she touched his hand on Jamie's bed, clearly about to reject him. But people keep ignoring her feelings in favor of Roy's. I wasn't surprised at all when she rejected both Roy and Jamie in the last episode (as a matter of fact, that's exactly what I wanted for her, after she went through 3 relationships in 3 years!), but people where... shocked? And hated it? It's not the writers' fault you all kept ignoring Keeley's feelings 🤷🏾♀️
Love this, it’s so true! I’m a woman happily married to my husband(for a decade today) but if I were single and had a chance with Hannah I’d take it in a hot second(who wouldn’t?!) She is absolutely spectacular, can’t take my eyes off her when she’s on screen in one of those delicious outfits.
I love Nate excitingly celebrating the goals. This was another "dad" episode. I know it was called Mom City, but it was still about dads. The beard at the end the end was perfect. I think, if it was Ted, it might not have meant as much. I love how Beard responds like Roy to the video. He realizes all the things. That hug just ripped me a new one. I still think Nate and the guys will take over, and he will.go home to fight for Henry and Michelle. Episode 12 may be really hard to watch. I think Ted tells Rebecca he's going home
Mae's bars of wisdom are the Philip Larkin poem "This Be The Verse". They fuck you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do. They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you. But they were fucked up in their turn By fools in old-style hats and coats, Who half the time were soppy-stern And half at one another’s throats. Man hands on misery to man. It deepens like a coastal shelf. Get out as early as you can, And don’t have any kids yourself.
Football fans recognized the toughness and grit it took for Jamie to come back, after the injury, and score the goal. True fans of any sport recognize greatness even when performed by a rival.
I think with Nate it's been a season in coming, but this time, he 1) knew the team would accept him back, and 2) found true joy watching the match and figuring out how passionate he was about it all again.
The Man City coach’s statement about “helping these boys be the best version of themselves on and off the field” is something Ted said to Trent in Season 1 episode 3 when Trent was writing the article on Ted. Awesome callback.
Beard is the only one other than Ted that knows Nate is the one that told Trent about the panic attacks. He gave Nate multiple chances to out himself and he never did.
The change of mind was due to the no celebration from Jamie. A few times there have been players that returned to their old clubs and scored. Some have gone nuts and celebrated and became instant villains. Though a small few have scored and not celebrated, this is a very rare and classy gesture. Also think his dad is trying to clean himself up in rehab.
Regarding the ages: if we assume the actors' ages are the same as the characters', Jamie's mom (42) is actually only six years younger than his dad (48). The show does a very good job making Kieran O'Brien look rougher than he is. If you look up photos of the actor, he looks much different. However, that also means Jamie's mom was only 17 when she had him (and his dad 23, yikes), which is unfortunately pretty believable I'd say for the circumstances. The actor for Jamie was 30 playing 25, which is why it looks like Jamie and his mom are close in age - IRL there's only 12 years there. There are a few things that I didn't really like, but the main one was the whole thing with Jamie's dad. I really REALLY hated that. IMO the message should have been that sometimes you don't have to forgive people who have egregiously wronged you, and you certainly do not have to reinstate contact with your abuser. To instead say that Jamie can't be his best self unless he forgives his father and reaches out I think is horrible. I'm choosing to ignore it lol On the positive side, I really liked the relationship between Jamie and his mom. We've heard of her twice before: in 1x06 when Jamie's making his speech at the curse fire, and in 3x06 when he's telling Roy about Amsterdam. It seems there was definitely some estrangement that happened preseries, but they clearly used to be very close and have since reconciled. So that all made sense to me.
Tbh i would have been ok with the whole "forgiving you do for yourself" if they kept it at that, it generally would be a lot healthier for jamie to let go of the hatred.. But having Jamie reaching out to him kinda ruined the whole point they tried to make, from a character standpoint i get it; healing is non-lineair, but from a narrative standpoint it just makes no sense because how is having a victim reaching out to their abuser healthy and moving forward
@@ndmkg Personally I still wouldn't like that, because that's *always* what's pushed, that you have to forgive the person who hurt you, even if just "for yourself." Which you absolutely do not. You can move forward without giving them any grace at all, and I'd have liked to see that here. But I agree, the text is what put it over the edge. Fine, have Jamie forgive him. But there was NO reason to have Jamie reach out again.
I agree. I think it would have been stronger if Jamie let go of the anger, found a new, positive form of motivation, but didn't jump straight to forgiveness.
4:12 maybe you were just way too harsh on her, blinded by your unwavering love of the douchebag version of Nate. She only ever gave Nate the same energy he gave her
I think any interviews where actors have intimated a 4th season may be possible is just the cast missing doing the show even though they know it’s done. Ted has set Richmond up for success post-Ted in all levels of the organization. THAT, plus Nate coming back, a possible reconciliation w/Michelle, AND him missing his kid means there’s no way he doesn’t move back to the states, & probably after the next Ep (unless they do a time jump). I think the question is… will Beard stay (I think yes), will the head coach be Roy or Nate (I think Nate), and will Rebecca’s Amsterdam mystery man come to Richmond (I think on his boat). Also, confused about the meeting of the Bex (and Cake) since they kind of made an effort to sort of redeem him a bit in the last Ep.
I'm not sure but I think the standing ovation was a nod to Ronaldhino when he played for Barcelona vs Real Madrid. He tore them to pieces and even though they are the biggest rivals in Spain, the Madrid fans all stood up and applauded him 🙂
We have heard the story of ted eating a candy made of shite before, ironically it involved a butterfinger and ronny fowch the guy who threw gangsigns at the police car..
The actress playing Jamie's mom is original Beatles drummer Pete Best's niece. She's 7 years younger than the actor who plays Jamie's dad and only 12 years older than Jamie himself.
I don't think it's just the play. There's nothing fans like more than a player toughing it out (which like Beard says is a bad idea). He's hurt, they can see he's hurt, but grit, determination, and effort win fans over like nothing else. Add that to 'great goal' and 'hometown boy' and I can see the fans flipping. The least believable thing for me was the boys showing up at Nate's work to invite him back. I thought it was a dream sequence, but nope, played straight. As long as these episodes have been they really needed more than just Nate apologizing to Will to win the team back. We needed to see him do more and we needed to see the team discuss it. Oh, also unbelievable, Bumbercatch, who is Swiss, who are arguably the most democratic country around, being anti-democratic. I can see him being suspicious of power, but not voting.
I think that based on Beard's revealed backstory, I'll be that he feels very protective of his BFF, the kindest man in the world. Ted did the same thing to Nate as he did with Beard, talked to him, heard him, gave him a job, gave his opportunity and Nate just bailed and Beard hated him for that. But then Ted reminded him that he got a second chance, and he couldn't keep the hate. IMHO
Yeah, Jaimies dad is definitely in rehab not prison. Aside from all the casual clothes and glassware that wouldn't be allowed in any prison, the one thing that gives it away is the women in the room.
I was a wreck by the end as well, it took me a while to compose myself. Beard made me well up, but Ted broke my heart. I'm not looking forward to the emotional fallout after watching next week's final episode! 😭
Beard owes it all to Ted, he hates Nate because he knows Nate owes it to Ted and has hurt Ted. Teds mom didn’t know how to process her husband’s death and kept it hidden. Ted did too until Dr Sharon helped him face things. His mom has never grieved like Ted now has. Hence his anger at her at the end. The change of mind by the crowd is not unusual in football.
Cool thing to note, when Jamie scores the goal to secure the win in this episode, it focuses on Jamie and not the actual goal. Because the goal doesnt matter, its about Jamie, how hes grown and the closing off of his character. Very smart choice of camera work.
Nate's turn to the dark side were daddy issues, which he finally resolved a few episodes ago and started to turn back. Of course the shame he had, due to how he left, was fairly insurmountable for him, but with help from his girlfriend, he was willing - however, they had just established that Coach Beard was the blocking factor - I really liked the setup of the "second chances" - perhaps not realistic at all with real people, but definitely believable with a character like Ted, and the incredible backstory the wrote for Coach Beard. And the headbutt turned to a hug of forgiveness was great. If they had more time, they perhaps could have drug it out inside a multi-season event, but if this is the plan for a 3 and done season series, they did a great job with their plan. Of course now we know that they can easily get a 3-5 season extension if they want no problem, and with some great writing, I'm sure they can come up with things to elicit similar emotion from the viewers in future seasons. Or they might want to put their 3 season masterpiece to rest, respectfully, and while on top of the world.
mancity's coach is one of the reason Jamie is a better person, not just ted. S1 jamie praises coach Pep and he got jaime to make the extra pass. also when Jamie is talking about giving his teammates space to Roy in S2, he says Pep is the one who taught him that. so when you ask why he didn't teach jamie it's not about W's or L's, it's being a better person on n off the pitch, trust me he did. they just don't rub it in our faces and that's why i love this show, almost everything has a callback or a reason for being in the show
Yeah it was that he sacrificed himself after getting badly hurt - assisted his teammates - scored a skilled, game-winning (perhaps season winning) goal and didn't celebrate. That's huge in all sports. Remember Chelsea cheered/chanted for Roy when they played at Stamford Bridge. It's a huge emotional sign of respect.
About the fans appreciating Jamie at the end: I don’t know if it is because I am Canadian and and grew up watching ice hockey, but if a player comes back to the game injured and plays hard for the team, the fans will admire that player. So it made sense to me - Jamie played really hard and scored an amazing goal even when injured, and the crowd would respect that. Jamie and his mom’s relationship made sense to me, too. I imagined her being young and playful based on how he talked about her. As for Nate, I think going back to Richmond is what he really wanted, but he was “comfortable” at the restaurant, which is why Jade got him fired. She knew he needed that push.
When Ted spoke to Pep Guardiola (the Man City coach) after the match, some notice that Pep says something that Ted said in the first season, about beeing the best person on and of the field. I believe, that this is suppose to show, that even the best football manager/coach in the world, has been influenced by Ted Lasso the american football coach, who did not even know anything about football/soccer when he came to England. It shows the growth of Ted Lasso the soccer coach, and how good and honest people, can be a positive influence on other people.
I think this might have been my favorite "Ted" episode... Not my favorite episode of Ted Lasso but my favorite episode for Ted.. This whole time he has been making everyone around him better, giving Rebecca advice, forgiving people, helping Roy with feelings, helping Beard with forgiveness, helping Trent, and now they are all helping others and helping Ted. In the end he finally starts listening to their advice and not starts helping himself. Something their has been hints at since season 2 but he truly took that next step this episode with his mom
We actually have had at least one mention of Ted’s mom, apart from the talks around his dad. In the Amsterdam episode, he mentioned being stuck, and said he needed to try something new, “like drink a bottle of wine and yell at my mom”. So there was at least one hint that Ted and his mom’s relationship wasn’t exactly great after they lost his dad
He scored an amazing goal.... after being out injured for however long... getting injured on an amazing save. The crowd turned because of the gutsy performance. Nate didnt change his thinking, but he finally realized that Ted doesn't hate him. The restaurant owner still liking him, was the final nail. Season 2, we daw Nate with the super debasing self talk... but this season, we've seen Nate moving into healthier patterns. Not seeing things in the worst possible light, which allowed him to really see who Ted is.
I'm a bit late, but I wanted to give my take on the whole Beard/Nate situation. When Nate started to change in the earlier seasons for the worse, Beard noticed it. I think he just caught on a lot earlier than everyone else and it wasn't a surprise to Beard when Nate went behind Ted's back and then also left. I think that the early sense of his character is what caused Beard to be hesitant in taking him back. Then (obviously) we get the background of why Beard is so close with Ted and probably never wants anyone to hurt him.
Opposing fanbases are brutal and insulting during games, but when a player is being taken out, there is still usually a moment of appreciation and respect. Everyone hated Jamie because he was the guy that quit on their team. But when you tough through an injury to make a difference in a game, and then in a classy move not celebrate against his former team, they can still respect that.
Love watching your reactions, and thought I'd recommend checking out 'The Shop Around The Corner', the Jimmy Stewart film from 1940 that 'You've Got Mail' is a remake of. The original is far superior, thoroughly charming in all aspects. Keep up the great work, yo!
Sometimes fans actually just cheer for a player who shows heart and toughness like Jamie did by coming back and scoring that goal after being injured. Especially if he's a local boy and former home team player. The actor who plays Jamie's dad, Kieran O'Brien is 49. The woman who plays his mum, Leanne Best is 43. I think his father was just supposed to look wore because of his lifestyle. He looked younger and better when they showed him in rehab,
I am watching your reaction BEFORE the episode hits where I am! I'm 2/3 the way through, and, so far, the funniest (laugh-out-loud) line is yours: "This episode should have been called Kebab City." I've been loving Jade and Nate for the last several episodes -- how can anyone not?! When all is said and done, Nate and Higgins will be my favorite characters in this series. Loving them all, of course! I/we all will sorely miss Lasso reactions on youtube! Kebabs for dinner!!
1.) Jamie's Dad seems to be in rehab. 2.) Ted is definitely leaving, win or lose. 3.) Rebecca's Mom arc... seems to be about the Pixie Dreamgirl Rupert Ex-Assistant. I'm guessing Rupert knocked her up, then dumped her. She went to Bex, who left Rupert over it, and Bex maybe thought about Rebecca taking the baby in a private adoption rather than the Assistant putting it in the system.
so the man city fan reaction was interesting to jamie. Them booing Jamie makes sense since Jamie left them to do a reality tv show and did not leave them on the best terms. However, at the same time, Jamie is a homegrown man city player and its heavily implied, if not stated that Jamie was a product of their youth academy. So the fans could realistically still have a soft spot for jamie, especially if they spotted his growth and maturity from the was he played, and his resilience to keep playing post injury, score a goal, and most importantly not celebrated. It can still be a jarring scene so i get your confusion and would be lying if i said it didn't take me back a bit my self, but the man city reaction could be within the realm of possibility for passionate football fans
I greatly enjoyed the episode. And I took the crowd cheering Jamie as him winning over the crowd, not just the play but the heart to get up and continue and showing respect to his former club by not being a giant prick after the goal.
Lol - Basic fan tactics. The Man City crowd were doing exactly what a home team crowd always does to intimidate the best players on the opposition side, to try to put them off, but once Jamie was leaving the field that no longer applied and they give him the applause he really deserves for the quality of his play during the match. This is normal behaviour.
"And they treat it as if he'd not lording this information over her" Ah, I see I'm gonna have to prep a response for when you put your You've Got Mail reaction up on here, because I have *thoughts* on that XD
The actor difference between Jamie and his Mom is 11 years, of course the fictional difference is probably 20 or so, not unlikely she was in the storyline a younger mother.
Sadly it does looks like this is the series finale for the show becasue i think everyone's story has come to an end and i think Ted and Beard will go back to US and the last episode will be everyone saying goodbye and thank you to him...i think i will cry my eyes out next episode because i did cry a lot this episode
This whole show is about parenting in one way or another. Think back to all the heart-gripping scenes - they all have something to do with the characters' mothers & fathers or the characters being mothers & fathers. And that Ted Lasso has been a father figure to this team, all of whom will do just fine under Nate.
football fans are fickle (myself included), and I think they didn't portray it very clearly here, although the idea is right. usually if your home team is playing shit (i.e. ManCity at home losing 2-0 to Richmond), a lot of their fans would get annoyed at them. at the same time, watching the away team play amazingly, or in this instance, one away player scoring an amazing goal, can earn the appreciation of some of those opposing fans. if anything, I think they should have shown some fans continue to jeer Jamie, while some of them show appreciation for an amazing solo goal (solo goals are very rare, even more so against a top tier team like ManCity). shouldn't have been 100% of them on their side though. I think going from 100-0 jeering him to 50-50 at the end would have had a much better effect.
So, I think there will be more seasons. How can there not be? I mean, the Apple TV management HAD to drive a truck full of money up to Jason's house at least A YEAR AGO. And if they didn't, they need ot be replaced because they're incompetent. I mean, maybe he said no, but how can you/why would you refuse that money? Also, I think they've been giving us the answer for a few episodes, a few episodes ago. You know how there's no number FOUR to Ted's list of bullet points for Total Football? They kept talking about how they haven't come up with #4 yet, and next season WOULD be number 4 if it happened. So I think that's the clue that there will be a season 4.
the crowd flipping is bc he's from/born in Mancity and they don't really hate him. and he scored that goal on one leg, who wouldn't cheer for a solo goal, from a guy who couldn't walk a few minutes ago. he showed a lot of heart
Or with Madison with Bournemoth fans went from soulthgate was right you are shit to he is a good lad in seconds, is not common for that reactions to happen but is wholesome when it does
I think the "look" difference between his mom and dad is two-fold.. One to show how Jamie's Dad is a bit of a creep and manipulator in all relationships, dating younger and impressionable women instead of women at his maturity and age level. Two to show how Jamie's Dad's lifestyle of anger and drug use has aged him. Drugs age you quickly...
call back with the joke. Poop candy bar from like season 1. One kid pooped in a butterfinger wrapper and a few people ate it. The mom tells the beard story that’s changed.
I believe Jamie's dad is actually in rehab not prison.
Yeah… or a very progressive, wear whatever you want prison 😅
Definitely rehab
That’s how I took it too.
Yeah I think so too. He seemed to be in a better headspace and even smiled when Jamie scored.
Haircut... group setting in which every member of the group is in his own self-involved bubble... the room done up in a vain attempt to mask the depression with a façade of superficial cheeriness...
Definitely rehab.
15:17 It's the first time we've seen Jamie's mom, but it's not the first time we've heard about her.

And he talks about her to Roy in the Amsterdam episode. He says that the two of them took a trip to Amsterdam together a couple years after the trip where his dad took him to the red light district.
you good
I think it was more the fact that Jamie didn’t celebrate the goal he scored. Players show respect to their former teams by not celebrating goals scored against them.
You are exactly right! 😊
And fans appreciate that
What Ted said about being scared of getting close to his son makes total sense since he has such deep rooted abandonment issues from what his dad did.
i think a lot of times sports fans will be against the other teams players 99% of the time but the moment Jamie made it 2-0 the game was sealed and the fans were able to give their hometown kid a standing ovation for a great performance.

There is literally nothing bad about this episode! This and the season as a whole have been perfect!!
I think the first half of the season was a bit unbalanced and imperfect. Not bad but not as strong as prior seasons.
For Jamie's dad, it looks like he is in rehab; there is a lot of coffee, orange juice, and bagels around him when you see him watching the game. When you saw his dad previously, he was drunk.
Yes and there are women in there too. You know any prison that allows that? 😂

I agree, I have to comment on the episode as a whole, but you're right, its moments that you remember about this show, not episodes

That’s a great comment 😊
For what it's worth, I was in Wichita this weekend (it's worth nothing)
@@joshhutton9534 I left in the 90s and haven't been back - I live in the Austin area now. But cool coincidence.
I actually loved learning why Beard is so loyal to Ted.
With the standing ovation from the Man City fans, that does happen in football, very rarely, when a player scores an exceptional goal or has a great performance. I don't think the age difference between Jamie's parents may be as big as you may be thinking. It's probably around 6 or so years, but the dad looks aged because of the lifestyle that he's lived (heavy drinking, maybe drug abuse). Seeing his dad in a rehab facility looking cleaned up was not what I had on my bingo card for this season.
Agreed re Jamie’s mum and dad
This show nailed the big moments. A few of my favorite smaller moments were Jamie's mom calling him a sexy little babeh which was an awesome callback, Roy calling the journalist "better Trent', and Beard/Keeley using Roys mannerisms with Jeeley using the deep voice when she saw the Kent poster in Jamies room and Beard saying "FUCKKK"
Also Roy saying "Will? You missed a good one" had me dying 😂😂
Last episode he called him "new Trent" 😂
Season 1 Roy: "This prick needs to be taken down a few pegs!"
Season 3 Roy: "Too many pegs! Too many pegs! Abort! Abort!"
I also hated how people kept ignoring Keeley's reactions, words and feelings.
A 4-octave range and flipping straights is an in-joke describing Hannah Waddigham :)
I don't know if you know it or not. They actually got Man City coach in the show for this episode...
6:42 - Ted referenced this story back in Season 1 when he was talking to Roy about the team bullying Nate.
Or is taking a year out to be with his son.
Mae's bars of wisdom are the Philip Larkin poem "This Be The Verse".
They fuck you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.
But they were fucked up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.
Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.
His dad is in rehab, not prison.
I'm choosing to ignore it lol
On the positive side, I really liked the relationship between Jamie and his mom.
"Sleepless in Seattle" is WAY better than "You've Got Mail". At least that was my opinion in the 90's when they both came out.
I feel like the “one for the road?” Thing was payback for Jamie calling his sister hot
Thank you :) makes lots of sense!
“I got one. The West Ham game will be my last game. Sorry… West Ham match.” - Ted.
😢😢😢
Bumbercatch being passionately anti-democratic might just be the single NOT-SWISS thing a person could be.
After the final scene, I closed my laptop and sobbed. For like 15 minutes.
I was a wreck by the end as well, it took me a while to compose myself. Beard made me well up, but Ted broke my heart. I'm not looking forward to the emotional fallout after watching next week's final episode! 😭
When the game was decided by Jamie’s goal, it was time for fans to show respect. You don’t do that before/during the game.
My prediction: ted’s going back and next show will be AFC Richmond cause I need this show in my veins!!!
Of all the Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks movies out there Joe verses the Volcano is my favorite. Also Fat Bottom Girls is my favorite Queen song
Hard conversation are uncomfortable. It was good for Ted to release what he was carrying regarding his mum.
that old roy kent poster killed me. !funny as hell
S1 jamie praises coach Pep and he got jaime to make the extra pass. also when Jamie is talking about giving his teammates space to Roy in S2, he says Pep is the one who taught him that. so when you ask why he didn't teach jamie it's not about W's or L's, it's being a better person on n off the pitch, trust me he did. they just don't rub it in our faces and that's why i love this show, almost everything has a callback or a reason for being in the show
This episode was perfect.
I think we can all agree the finale next week is against West Ham eh. Redemption for all Rupert screwed over!
"Will?" "Yeah." "You missed a good one." Might be in the top three lines in the series.
Everytime you think Jamie can't do better... he does better. Love his part. And I loved Pep speaking Ted to Ted. Priceless.
Also they had Pep Guardiola in this episode, the real Man City manager/coach.
La-di dadi is a Slick Rick joint… Snoop’s cover is more popular though.
Why do I get the vibe Keely ends up with Jamie and Roy ends up with the teacher. Just kind of seeing it pan out that way right now.
I would not be too shocked if that happened
Yes, Sleepless in Seattle is far superior to You've Got Mail. Definitely watch it!!!
I greatly enjoyed the episode. And I took the crowd cheering Jamie as him winning over the crowd, not just the play but the heart to get up and continue and showing respect to his former club by not being a giant prick after the goal.
I always got the impression Jamie’s mom was dead the way he talked about during the curse reverse
I think you missed the whole "Pep Guardiola" Man City coach cameo #totalfootball
For anybody that doesnt knew the Man City Coach of this episode is the real Coach Pep Guardiola.
"And they treat it as if he'd not lording this information over her"
Ah, I see I'm gonna have to prep a response for when you put your You've Got Mail reaction up on here, because I have *thoughts* on that XD
Lol I love that! I look forward to it
The actor difference between Jamie and his Mom is 11 years, of course the fictional difference is probably 20 or so, not unlikely she was in the storyline a younger mother.
Ted's chipper attitude is a wall. He's always got his wall up around his son
Jade's family owns the restaurant. Derick doesn't even know that.
They do?
He references the poop candy bar in an earlier episode
football fans are fickle (myself included), and I think they didn't portray it very clearly here, although the idea is right. usually if your home team is playing shit (i.e.
Lmao I love the reactions but man does he miss a lot of callbacks or even the obvious on screen stuff.
🎶Jamie’s mom has got it going on🎶
Ted mentioned not taking a candy bar offered from a classmate in season 1.
At one point in Season 1 (?) Jamie talks about back when he was a sexy little baby...so that phrase here is a callback.
Jamie does F you, thank you to his dad. Then Ted does the same thing to his mom.
Dude I love your laugh xD
Amigo, I love your comment
In soccer is commom to cheer for an oposing player when hes being sub If he played well. Especially If hes an ex-player for the club.
the crowd flipping is bc he's from/born in Mancity and they don't really hate him. and he scored that goal on one leg, who wouldn't cheer for a solo goal, from a guy who couldn't walk a few minutes ago. he showed a lot of heart
that's one nice looking prison....
I'm so curious how Will approached Colin and Isaac and got the team on board, though. (Because I'm assuming it was Will.)
The crowd changed their mind about Jamie because he played injured, he scored an awesome goal and did not celebrate it for respect to his former club
Doesn't seem like the kind of reaction a real fan base would have in my experience
@@AdamfromFWCI well I remember when Madrid fans clapped for Iniesta and Ronaldinho at the Bernabeu
Or with Madison with Bournemoth fans went from soulthgate was right you are shit to he is a good lad in seconds, is not common for that reactions to happen but is wholesome when it does
29:55 Mate u didnt see the part where he didnt celebrate when he scored his goal...
I did. It still feels like a big jump from booing the living hell out of a man, to giving him a standing ovation
