    You don't need a gazillion bhp and flapping paddles to have an outstandingly great fucking driving experience. It's very nice sometimes to have a break between gear changes to realize how much fun you are having "driving"the car as opposed to zing zinging thru the gears and then the fucking drive is over. Very nice job. And I think all racing cars should have a mandate to have a manual gearbox, period.

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paddles are best suited to the track for modern machines that are all about performance. Porsche 996 and 997's that have been modified for the track perfectly use the paddles.
      964's are just the best Porsches for the road. They are fastest enough, direct enough and with amazing feed back some variants more than others.
      I currently have a 996 GT3 which has no modifications whatsoever and it is a nice road car but you get the feeling that it has just a little bit to much power for the road and you will never get near to its abilities I am lusting over a 964 that I can do a custom build on so that it will look like the interior of classic 60s and 70s cars but have the exterior of the 80s/90s.

    drive the wheels off the car while commentating like Chris Harris. Never
    judge a book by it's cover, I relearned this again today.

    So for anyone wondering - These guys arent new to this. Drivetribe is former top gear trios (Hammond, Clarkson and May's) new social media platform. And the presenter for this clip is racing car driver, and former EVO magazine presenter/journalist Jethro Bovingdon. I expect this channel to become one of the new standards

    To prevent further alienation of Porsche fans, I do think Porsche should hire these legends such as Magnus guys from Singer and Sharkwerks to build a 911 that keeps its original DNA. As for the Cayman, Boxter and Panamera models, Porsche can keep innovating them. That way casual consumers are happy and so are die hard Porsche fans by keeping the 911 line sacred.

    • @rbeaton16
      @rbeaton16 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Porsche should hire guys who modify their cars to keep original DNA? You're lacking in the logic department.

      +rbeaton16 You do know that these guys are experts at construction and deconstructing the 991... Lacking in the common sense department Bruh xD

    • @Paganizondaf650

      991 gone turbo would have become inevitable in the next gen, at the latest 992.2. Most 911 owners just wanna drive the latest and greatest and didn't even rev their 991.1 up high enough often enough to notice the crucial difference in sound. In 5 years not a lot of people are going to whine when they look back to the switch. And those that do buy a 991.1 or earlier or take a GT3

    • @bighands69
      @bighands69 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What has happened to Porsche is that they are being hamstrung by environmental regulations. Manufacturers are being bullied to build cars that make no sense.
      That is the reason why Porsche are going to be putting turbos in everything.
      American cars used to have lovely big V8's in them and today they are being forced down to 6 and 4 cylinders. What will happen in the future is that these cars will be forced to 3 or even 2 cylinders.

    I know people won’t believe this, but I am the reason why Magnus Walker was able to get this car. I will tell you why we were at the Phoenix club and I was talking to Magnus Walker and this car was hit in a race or whatever I’m not sure and it was on a flatbed in the truck was pulling it and he was leaving the Phoenix club because it was for sale and then asked for me. I said out loud to Magnus man look at that somebody can put that car back together and Magnus turns around and runs after the truck slamming his hand on the guy‘s window to get his attention. He stopped and that’s the story right there. He bought the car and I don’t know how he got it back to his home in downtown LA but he bought the car and here it is now to this day this beautiful Porsche 964.This is a truthful story and this is no lie. I know this video is seven years old, but I love this car and just wanna say thank you for this video in my hollow from the big island of Hawaii.

    Your videos are great - the editing seems to give petrolheads everything they want to hear - meaningful reviews, great footage and a lot of awesome engine noise! I've got to say, it is in complete contrast to the DriveTribe Facebook page which honestly seems full of hastily cobbled-together and poorly-written articles; I unsubscribed. I'm glad I came across your YT channel, it is brilliant. Thanks for all the work you put in for our enjoyment! :)

    tbh, very little there as an original 964. Totally get the street mod/rod scene. But a shame the orginal M64 01 engine isn't still in there (and probably the most modded 911 engine set up too). Do like though.
