@@seanseoltoir It's got a ducted impeller prop so as far as the moving blades are concerned they cannot make contact unless you actually stick something in the prop shroud. And have to come in to shore 3 times faster! Why not just install a small gas engine and be out there for hours?! This company could make millions installing these kits (with a prop locater kit) for existing Jet Ski owners! Just have to figure out how to get water up there for water cooling.

i love the lack of noise, i always wanted a jetski, except when im on the water and one goes flying by. there went the peace and quiet out on the water.
These are absolutely *not* "silent" and I actually really think it's a shame they're trying to market them as such. They make an awesome futuristic noise that is much quieter than a conventional engine and honestly that's a selling point: "Quiet, futuristic cruising". Though I will say there's no risk of them replacing jetskis until they start making them do upwards of 40 knots
Definitely interested in it for my jet ski rentals, would be an entirely different thing side of the business- dangerous with an exposed propeller rather than jet ski impeller, and not as fast.
I have ridden on an air chair towed behind a ski boat. Lots of fun but hard to control because your height in the water is dependent on subtle changes in your center of gravity. Lean back to far and the hydrofoil will rise out of the water and the chair will crash back down. The electronic control system on this boat must be pretty amazing!
Was wondering how long it'd take for some company to bother making a hydrofoil PWC. (Seemed like an obvious idea, with all the needed parts to do it going back at least three decades.) But there it is now, and it seems neat. The only downside is you have to use more caution around other watercraft because they're not going to expect you to come up on them that quietly. (You likely don't want to be around somebody fishing or trawling, or towing water skis. Even some sailboats may be distracted trying to catch wind to go as fast, and will need space.) But if you use enough sense, it seems like a fun way to cruise a coastline or river.
what are you talking about? simply look around you. small sailboats are just as fast. use common sense and keep your eyes open. has been that way since boating began. this isn't a wal-mart parking lot.
It's really neat. And there will be more of these.. and probably something with a gasoline motor and high output that will be very quick. It's just the start but no 'this' will not spell the end for jet skis.
I can see a huge disadvantage in that it has a draft that has to be close to that of a smaller sailboat. That will severly limit it's use in shallow harbors and near-shore areas. Not a fan of jetskis, but they draw very little water and can be run right onto a beach (with the engine off!). This thing looks like it draws well over a meter, maybe 1.5.
Interesting that the multiple fouls are constantly auto adjusting to keep the ride smooth. Almost like a gyro works on 3D RC helicopters. Seems to be a very smooth ride that would be marketable to the older generation as I don’t see much maneuverability available for the young crowd. Pretty cool though.
That depends on how rough the seas are and how tall the foils are. Having ridden in a large hydrofoil in 4' -5' seas in the open ocean I can tell you they work just fine.
It'll be perfectly fine for this application though. Anyone without a deathwish wont be out in weather beyond a small craft advisory, let alone trying to cross the ocean on something so small.
No emissions? There’s no such thing, as something was emitted to make the electricity to charge it. But I love the fact that it doesn’t make a wake! That’s going to confuse some cops when they tell you to slow down because it’s a no wake zone and you explain that even though you were going fast you weren’t making a wake.
Not necessarily.. lots of solar and wind power in the grid. Solar panels aren't particularly "dirty" to produce - their only weakness is cloudy days and nights.
@@redwolfexr What are you talking about? Photovoltaics are massively energy and resource intensive to produce. They have finally gotten to the point where they have a net positive energy production over a reasonable system cycle, but that is a somewhat recent ability. Wind with the massive composite structures and gearboxes and generators is in a similar boat. Not saying they aren't useful but we cannot pretend like they are anything close to "zero emission."
@@Rocketpax read what I said.. I didn't say they didn't take ENERGY to make. I said they were not particularly DIRTY to produce. (main energy need is melting the sand for the strata) This isn't particularly polluting. Solar cells last decades, with VERY tiny power reductions over that time. Most large panels have 20+ years at 95%. After that they take the same timeframe to degrade another 5%. But the point is that you have to go to third order back to try to "find" pollution. The motor doesn't produce any.
This is the problem with these titles, if all you get out is an hour of fun all out the jet skis are here to stay. You can’t go very far and they aren’t as fast as a jet ski. That’s what we love about jet skis and you cal go all day
This is basically going to make diving anywhere where people might use these extremely dangerous. At least divers could hear boats before, now the potential incidence of collision between surfacing divers and someone drunk on one of these is a deadly encounter for at least one person, and it's much harder to avoid for the diver because they cannot hear it. With fast, foiling sailboats, there was much less of a problem because they generally didn't want to go near dive areas. These kinds of things are going to be used in mooring fields and marinas where people might be snorkeling, swimming, diving and someone not paying attention on one of these can kill someone. All that said, I'd love to try one.
I guess the same philosophy could be applied to pedestrians being hit by electric cars? At least these can be geofenced/GPS regulated and only allowed to operate in certain zones. Or dive buoys have a geofence around them perhaps
@@yachtingworld Fair enough, but in the electric-car and pedestrian encounter, both parties have equal ability to spot each other. In this situation, the person on the foiling vehicle cannot see the diver. And in murky-enough water, the diver cannot see the vehicle, nor hear it
I love how he points out the key failure in the thing. The price. Why is it that when someone comes out with a newer concept like this they decide to WAY overprice it?
Economy of scale: products are more expensive when made in small quantities. You have to quickly make back a majority of that money spent on R&D, factory tooling, training, hiring, marketing, etc. or your new small business will go bankrupt. If I gave you $2,000, would you be able to make a Macbook?
the fact jetskis are noisy is the reason they are safe, it alerts water users to keep an eye out as many rentals or general jetski users are unaware of the risk they present. Yet they are still the most dangerous craft due to excess speeds being operated by people often with a lack of experience or knowledge of rules on the water. With the foils, they are quiet but also present the possibility of losing control. Yes they are not as quick but 15 knots can certainly still cause some damage.
It seems like a rich early adopter's toy that's a step past the development R&D stage. Now imagine if the same tech could be applied to something with the motive powerplant of a jet ski. If the lift foils are small enough to present less drag than a jet ski hull when planing, then that thing would haul.
where can i put my fishing rods. i often fish on my ski. I need to bring my esky / chilly bin / ice box etc. and tackle box as well. This is definitely not for me. Where do you get the fossil fuels to put in that jetski? Do you buy it from Putin? Maybe Mohammed bin Salman in Saudi Arabia? Or perhaps Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei in Iran?
As big a fan as I am of e-vehicles I am convinced that this is not a substitute for a jet ski…in fact I would suggest that they are totally different beasts, each with its own field of expertise. Range anxiety/limitations are always a concern for electric vehicles (I own an extended range Model 3 Tesla), and until this has been challenged in the rough seas that jet skis love the true competence of this machine has yet to be determined. But I am sure it is going to be very, very fun to play with.

I really enjoyed the Overboat wich is for me what i'm calling a "jetfoil". I mean this is a jetski but rather designed to do steady straight lines. There are many kinds of pwc ( jetski is Kawasaki's label ) stand up, seats or flyboard and the overboat introduced a new way. For people doubting of the overboat, Neocean explained me they are allready working on a new design for a much powerfull and boat licensed ship. This one is only 6HP and therefor requires no boat licence. The onliest con i had is the price about 30000€ ( £ 26000 ) wich is too much expensive. Except that issue, the rest is just so cool.

There are a couple of higher power outboards now that use ducted props.. one system is ICE engines up to 300hp the other is electric.. done properly its more efficient and has other advantages in terms of safety and handling. 🧙🏻♂️ The main thing is being electric it's quieter and creates minimal wake.
That’s brilliant, now they need to switch to a bigger brushless motor, higher C lipo’s to triple the speed.
higher voltage for more speed
And have to come in to shore 3 times faster! Why not just install a small gas engine and be out there for hours?! This company could make millions installing these kits (with a prop locater kit) for existing Jet Ski owners! Just have to figure out how to get water up there for water cooling.

This is a very strong alternative towards a jetski. It seems also a lot quiter and has more comfort. No brainer for me.
i love the lack of noise, i always wanted a jetski, except when im on the water and one goes flying by. there went the peace and quiet out on the water.
When did the definition of silent change? That thing is quiet but not silent.
Super cool, but where’s the drama? Love it!
Perhaps the foils could retract like sailboat centerboards, into a well? Reduce draft by half?
This is very cool
That would have to happen to be even remotely practical seeing going into shallow water is a no-no and catching seaweed is another nightmare
Super cool invention.
Foils are awesome - but they have limitations and drawbacks as well.
And electrics are still niche vehicles due to range and recharge time.
2 hours is still not bad, how long do you get on a jetski?
These are absolutely *not* "silent" and I actually really think it's a shame they're trying to market them as such. They make an awesome futuristic noise that is much quieter than a conventional engine and honestly that's a selling point: "Quiet, futuristic cruising". Though I will say there's no risk of them replacing jetskis until they start making them do upwards of 40 knots
And drastically increase useable runtime.
The dude can talk over the noise in a normal speaking voice while cruising at 20 knots... pretty damn near silent.

@@CowtownRox Never did 20 knots 15 top. And it wasn't silent ,Quiet yes but not silent.
Nice flat calm water on that day. Wonder how it performs in wind with a swell or choppy sea.
I think they're really cool. With that said, what's it like transporting this to the water?
Definitely interested in it for my jet ski rentals, would be an entirely different thing side of the business- dangerous with an exposed propeller rather than jet ski impeller, and not as fast.
Charging will become a problem very fast.

Jet ski’s are way more fun then that yuppie mobile!! But I’m sure Biff and Karen will love it
The JetSki crowd has nothing to worry about with this thing, but I’m sure mega yachts will have to have two or three of them.

Looks trendy but boring
To me.

Like electric cars you could switch modes .. and for performance take a look at where electric MCycles have gone in terms of speeds and ranges.
Just needs a fishing version!
Ben from viva la dirt leageu is that you?
Foils will never replace conventional hulls, they simply dont work in rough seas
This as a hybrid would be perfect 👌
That’s what we love about jet skis and you cal go all day
It doesn’t appear obnoxious enough for the yahoos who live around me. It needs to be way louder for them.
Could maybe add some boom boxes and play very loud music?!
Like foil surfboards, it's a great gimmick, but part of the fun in riding a boat or surfboard is actually being in contact with the water.
This is just the beginning. The noise reduction is a big plus. The batteries will get better and the speed/range will only increase. Cool. $25g's?
They dang on catamaran’d the jetski!
@@yachtingworld there are laws in some countries that make electric vehicles have additional sounds for pedestrian safety.
@@yachtingworld
Fair enough, but in the electric-car and pedestrian encounter, both parties have equal ability to spot each other. In this situation, the person on the foiling vehicle cannot see the diver. And in murky-enough water, the diver cannot see the vehicle, nor hear it
The good thing is it will slice your head clean off, so it won't really be a problem.
not really if you use a diver down flag. same rules apply.... common sense my friend.
That is cool, would love to try one.
Oh please, a pooff boat. That kind of speed will never put skis out of business. Super soft!
I agree.
So much better than a pollution-spewing, noisy jet-ski. Can charge from solar panels, hydrogeneration, etc.
Now I know what to get my Grandma for Christmas
Nah mate! Tula has gotta be able to see and hear me doing spectacular he man stunts in the no wash zone. Otherwise what is the point bro??????
the fact jetskis are noisy is the reason they are safe, it alerts water users to keep an eye out as many rentals or general jetski users are unaware of the risk they present. Yet they are still the most dangerous craft due to excess speeds being operated by people often with a lack of experience or knowledge of rules on the water.
With the foils, they are quiet but also present the possibility of losing control. Yes they are not as quick but 15 knots can certainly still cause some damage.
HAHAHAh Replace an RXT or RXP never, this was hilarious 😂
How is it trailered? Do you moor it and take a tender to it.? Love that it's quieter. Doesn't really show in rough water or another's wake.
Except I can buy a seadoo for about 3K used and have way more fun.
Now thats what i call better use of technology
It's cool but soooo sloooow... This will never compete with jetskis unless you add another 15 knots to the top speed!
Which may involve 4 times the power (to double the speed)
It seems like a rich early adopter's toy that's a step past the development R&D stage. Now imagine if the same tech could be applied to something with the motive powerplant of a jet ski. If the lift foils are small enough to present less drag than a jet ski hull when planing, then that thing would haul.
Still would be too slow
where can i put my fishing rods. i often fish on my ski. I need to bring my esky / chilly bin / ice box etc. and tackle box as well. This is definitely not for me. I don't see sea world replacing their stunt jet skis anytime soon either. Cool technology though. For licence purposes, would this be a personal watercraft or a boat?
It's an overpriced novelty item and no, you'd be nuts to this is a viable substitute for a PWC.
I couldn’t contain the excitement 😂…….seriously I don’t think the JetSki is in danger
This is the lamest PWC I have ever seen, especially for 20K euros.
Lots of marketing potential(Older clientele & Military/Industrial uses too🙄)......but a different fun from current personal watercraft....or the stand-up and wet bikes we had as kids.......it's fun to get wet😎
What a joke compared to a jetski that will do 70. Cool but not close the only pro is you can do top speed in no wake zones

Sure the hybrid drive systems are where things are going.. and given vessels that can sail ...
The battery banks allow can already allow 4-10 hrs motoring
depending on the vessel and the use ...
Theres also Na ion and Sulpher based technologies already on route which in a boat would be better than Lithium ...the Al air battery is already being tested on cargo vessels .... Essentially this is a recyclable burner pack..yielding a massive amount of energy for a passage from a relatively small pack. On a container vessel think of something the size of a shipping container. On a yatch wanting to cross an ocean
A couple of packs the size of a suitcase could be activated to augment the rechargable house/power battery.
As for any combustion engine used as a generator ...the generator ICE isnt mechanically connected. ..so it can run at optimum performance with a steady load and only when its needed. So can be smaller and run less time.
Electric motors are ridiculously efficient compared to ICE systems typically modern brushless motors run at 98%..the best even higher .
I'll put up some links to illustrate ...but the motors themselves actually beat the pants off direct drive which at its best is only 33%efficient ..the rest is lost as friction, heat, noise and vibrations . You also have the smell, exaust gasses, toxic fuel and lubricants and thousands of parts that wear out and need ongoing adjustment and maintainance.
This is a technology that in heavy machinery has been used since the 1940s in shipping and rail locomotives.
🤔Lets see if i can better illustrate the case.... while agreeing Li battery chemistry has its limits its has been a breakthrough technology. Like Si based Solar ... Ive done it in other posts but its hard to do given U tubes deleting anything with external links...

As a retired engineer , aviation/ tech enthusiast and an old man. I would like to see swept sharp foils to sluff off the weeds.
Also spring loaded retracts incase you hit some thing and ability to run foiless in shallow water or landing on remote beach.
if you fix that , If you have range and low noise, reasonably priced, It should be a hit.
i always wondered why hydrofoils arent used on absolutely everything. the added speed and reduced runningcosts are pretty significant as far as i know.
Me too! Wouldn’t it make better speed with lower fuel costs?
Wondering if/how you'd be able to pull up on a beach with this thing? Would be great if the foils were somehow retractable into the hull.
@@doctalove321 Yes, exactly, and therein lies one of it's biggest problems for many potential buyers: how to easily launch and retrieve it from shallow water/the beach.
I used to love them but they have a few drawbacks that limit them to short, small, fun craft.
You will hit something at speed one day, and the foil either has to break, or fold in some way. Either way you are crashing at speed.
Foils need to be really clean, or they fly badly.
Above 20 kts there are real issues with cavitation, and ventilation is always an issue in rough water. Again, random crash at high speed.
Foils are inherently tricky in engineering sense, so they are expensive to do right.
I'd go for a ski setup with suspension and swamp-boat type prop for a hoon-craft.
