Your going to need a 10mm socket a 5/16 ID hose fits good. Napa sells a 50/50 pink antifreeze for Toyota's 2004 and up. Good idea to remove the overflow tank and rinse clean it with water. After draining both block drains and the radiator/overfow tank 8 litres or two jugs was perfect for the refill.

Hi, there is a second drain on the engine block on the other side, you need to drain that too or you won't get all the coolant out

Depends on what year. I have a 2013 and the driver's side block does not have a drain valve. Just a sealed bolt.

But when you drain the engine block and you full the radiator with the coolant, the coolant will not go to the engine block because of the thermostat so you will run the engine without coolant for 10 minutes at least, is this will affect the engine? Until the thermostat open and the coolant reaches the block?

Nice and straight forward video 👍 Much appreciated. Btw is the process the same for 2008 FJ’s? Thanks

Great video.... to the point. But I was wondering if there was a reason why you didn't want to flush with distilled water?

Should do a coolant test to see if coolant needs replacement. There are test strips or a probe to test the coolant.

FYI the engine has two drains. There one in the other side.

Thank you so much for this video. Moments before searching the internet I had just finished doing a cylinder head service/ top overhaul for a friend's Mitsubishi Triton 4d56 engine. I have a Toyota Hilux 2015 2gd ftv engine and was searching for the engine block coolant drain plug. I tried watching your video and at minute 1:23 decided to look at the passenger side and found the drain plug and spout. For those with my engine it's visible guys from the passenger side wheel or battery side. Mine is a Malaysia model so passenger side means the side where the battery and fuel filter is. It's also below the alternator above the engine mounting. Thank you again.

Figured it out. Just used a bunch of extensions and a u-joint socket adapter. Only got a couple cups out. Wasn't worth the trouble. Right side only from now on.

It’s NOT a 9mm bolt on the block. Please correct. I just burned an hour trying to make it work.

If you drain the coolant from the engine block and refill with new coolant, will engine block receive any new coolant since the thermostat will not open until the temp reaches 180.

I think you meant 10mm for engine drain. 9ftLb for torque.

Hi, is it recommended to flush the coolant from engine block? Or enough to flush from radiator drain?

You will damage you engine within a few minutes if you run it without coolant or water. You might get a couple more minutes if the outside temperature is very cold, but without coolant your cylinder head and valves will get very hot very quickly
