Wish I can be an auto mechanic. There is so much knowledge to retain. It’s amazing. I have all the respect for mechanics. Between you, Scotty Kilmer and Chris fix I learn so much.
One of my Cousins has a 9 year old great grand daughter that she brings when she visits me.
While checking my cousin's mini vans fluids and tire pressure the little girl wanted to help. I have a trigger tire pressure gauge filler, and I showed her on the door jam the recommend pressure and how the gauge worked. She checked and filled all 4 tires, then I mentioned the spare under the back. She wiggled underneath, check the spare, said it showed zero pounds, then aired it up to 32 psi.
Whenever my cousin visits, the little girl checks & fills the tires like a pro.

I wish you had posted this a week earlier! I just flushed my Tacoma and got to do it 3 times because I didn't properly drain it the first 2 times. You are the first TH-cam tutorial that I could find that properly demonstrates to drain from not just the radiator, but the 2 block drains as well. I couldn't figure out why I was draining only 3 quarts out of a 10 quart system.

I've been a Toyota guy for a long time. I really enjoy your videos. 2000 Tacoma 509k, 2005 Prius 441k, 2009 Prius 417k, 2013 Corolla 274k. Plus a 2014 Camry, 2012 Tacoma, 2005 4 Runner, and 1989 Toyota. I've done a fair bit of maintenance on these vehicles. Great channel! Always learning tidbits of info.
I appreciate that you actually compensated for the water already in the system and made the adjustment in your concentration. I've seen a lot of know-it-all youtubers not do that and just pour 50/50 in there. In my old 1st gen RAV it's super easy because the entire coolant capacity is 8 liters/ 2.11 gallons so after flushing with water, I can pour a gallon of concentrated antifreeze in directly and top off the rest with water and it'll be almost 50/50 automatically which in in the south is plenty.
I can watch this girl all day there is something about her that drives me nuts

So many are lazy, but engine drains and oil cooler hose get the whole system empty, full distilled flush(s) keep Our Trucks 😊. Tundra was a PITA
to get to, so oil cooler hose alone is decent if all else is fairly fresh.

Very good tutorial. I could have used it a long time ago, but I think future diy'ers will benefit from such through directions. Not everyone knows the dangers of coolant. Great video Faye!
This is a good tutorial for vehicles overdue , but if you don't want corrosion in your system occasionally suck out reservoir with a turkey baster or pump and refill.. doing this once a year and after a few years it mostly gets replaced with fresh corrosion inhibitors..
You don't want corroded radiator leaking, etc..

So extremely well done -gives me the confidence to do myself (in 91 2nd gen 4runner); even though the half-dozen other videos I've watched were lacking. I LOVE the way you talk/show schematics about all of the alternative scenarios or obstacles you might encounter; ex: whether it be different valve/stop-cock locations or how the temperature might fluctuate (during bleed/air expulsion; ~15:40 in video) and not to worry about that. Really great job! I might have to subscribe, just to learn more and later engage on more intimidating DIY repairs along the journey. Go Girl!!

I've been using this funnel on all of my vehicles for decades on almost all of my vehicles. It works! It comes in a kit with different adapters for different reservoirs and radiators., but they aren't compatible with a few of them.
Instead of flushing, I drain & fill @ 30K mile intervals which keeps my coolant relatively fresh on my Honda cars & SUV's. I can remove the reservoir fill cap while leaving the radiator cap closed and drain the radiator. This pulls the coolant out of the reservoir. Then I proceed after filling the reservoir, replacing the cap and using the funnel in the radiator.
Very easy to do.

Great video! I learned something with the block drain info, thank you! Quick tip for you-squeeze the upper hose then plug your funnel. When you pull the funnel it doesn’t spill that little bit. Keep up the good work!

I'm not going to be one of those! I only have two videos out right now. I only did it because several of my friends ask me about questions about certain type of problems and when the opportunity arose I went ahead and recorded. I was going to schedule an appointment at my local service garage, but after watching your video I realized it was easy enough to do myself. I have a 2013 FJ which is similar to a Tacoma or 4-Runner. I can now save a significant amount of money doing it myself. I'm thinking the service garage probably won't be as careful doing the flush as you demonstrated in the video. Thanks for the tutorial. I've already purchased the Toyota brand coolant.

Always great content Faye! Always love watching, for me I found that if you drill 2- 1/8 s holes in your thermostat. I have never needed to burp out excessive air in the cooling system and my two old hot rods and my 94 f350 they actually run just a little cooler!

One thing i always do with a coolant flush is change the thermostat, seems they fail more often these days and crack the plastic radiator tanks.
(I have had three so far this year) also thanks for showing the burp the baby exercise as it's so hard to explain in layman's terms ,
some of my customers with older cars like to do coolant and oil by themselves, scary i know but i'm always available to them for advice and take care of the aftermath.

Ive watched quite a few other videos about changing the radiator on my 03 Tacoma and using a spill free funnel. Yours is the only one with with important mention of letting the car cool down before removing the funnel with the remaining coolant. 👍. Thank you!
