      Iudex Gundyr I just started hitting legs hard again. And did straight bar deadlift for the first time ( used to do hex bar) I was doing 315 lbs. 3×10, and on the last rep forced a bad rep and hurt the shit shot out of my back

    nicely done at the 635. do you think you will plan on getting to the 700 and hopefully be able to at some point do it without straps? i am definitely on the fence when it comes to straps. before i got up to 400 without then being inconsistent i am in the high 300s without but wanting to have my grip strength get up there. would definitely prefer never using straps but on the fence on it or at what point i should actual start using them. straps and belts have never been my thing. but i squat in the 300s and deadlift in the 400s without any problems without either. you were seeming to be more of an equipped lifter but got rid of the belt so was wondering your thoughts on raw lifting. raw being in my mind no belts, straps, wrist wraps or knee sleeves.

    • @snowtrout123
      @snowtrout123 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dont use straps. Grip strength is very important

    • @KKCFTW
      @KKCFTW 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the time using straps is a way of keeping the skin on your hands intact. A callous tear could set you back a week or two if you're unlucky. It also causes less strain on the bicep tendon compared to mixed grip. If you're really worried about grip strength incorporate farmers walks/dead hangs/Suitcase holds etc. into your training. Straps are a really great way to overload your deadlifts don't just dismiss them!

    • @mitcheldegner9780
      @mitcheldegner9780 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah i was thinking of waiting till im into the 500s before using straps. i definitely think yeah you can focus more on the deadlift and lift heavier with straps because often its the grip strength that can do me in. but what got me into lifting heavy were mike o'hearns powerbodybuilding videos and i just think its impressive lifting heavy without belts or straps. my heaviest deadlift without straps was 435 and my heaviest squat was 355. I do not use a belt ever i figure if i got this far without why bother. i had some inconsistencies and time off from training and my squat and dead are down. but couple weeks ago i went for 365 for 3 reps failed on my third for deadlifting then went the next week and hit 355 for a set of 5 easy. then this week 365 for a set of three was easy. then hit a single at 385. last year i did use straps once just to get some reps at 405. i think its more of a mental thing with me that i dont feel like im strong if i have to go strap up or what not. but it is something i am definitely on the fence about. maybe like down the road if its really delaying back progress
