Kevin , so dear Kevin what a brillant soul and person you were...those 3 days when i produce you in Montreal will stay in my heart for ever. You played Lady Rachel brillantly with daevid Allen on space guitar, it was perfect ! Like that night in Belgium !
[31 January 2022] Are you saying that you served as Ayers' producer, briefly? If you did, then you were *SO LUCKY* , getting to work with him. What was he like? I'm much too young to have met Ayers when he was in his prime, unfortunately. I wish I could have met him. Won't you *please* tell me what he was like?
@@elizabethhann4028 Hello Elisabeth, yes indeed i produced the only , ever solo concert in Montreal of Kevin Ayers paired with Daevid Allen. Working with him was soft and nice . Only one rule : Keep himn fart away from the boose before the concert. He was a nice chap.... but very dark and sad when not under the effect of alcohol. Getting better with wine. It was very particular...because after the concert we wnt in a private home with Daevid and Daevid went to bed soon. Kevin, a friend and me , wrote in the automatic way, poems and Kevin played the guitar on the sofa.... all night.. geeting high oon coke and wine , we smoked too but Kevin didn't like smoking... we went to bed around 6 in the morning . He asked me to find him champagne and Valium around 4 in the morning because he couldn't go to sleep withpout that... i went through the city and never found of course...very sad way to leave him..He felt asleep anyway.... Crossing the border with both of them was quite an experience too... In Burlington to Cannada, imagine Daevid dress like a hippie and Kevin playing drums with his hands on his knees...it took hours. Kevin was thirsty for booze and he was drinking maple syrup by the can.... 3 days very interesting indeed...
Amazing and honest temoinage, Daniel: merci! What year was that? Je me suis débarqué à Montréal en 1978, mais j'imagine que cet évenément était avant,,,,
Lucky? Perhaps..but older...I also remember a concert of Kevin (1976??) with Andy Summers playing guitar (replacing Halsall) and still the big Zoot Mooney who was really amazing keyboards player. The fitst band on stage was : Caravan, then Kevin and Soft Machine closing the night !!!

1972. I had a bootleg cd of it i bought in 2000. The versions of Lady Rachel and Why Are We Sleeping are the definitive versions. Better than any other live or studio version.
inge schoors t is lang geleden en ik herinner mij dit optreden in de aula in leuven. Ik stond rechts bovenaan en er was nog plaats voor de luidsprekers. Het werd mij snel duidelijk waarom😁. Toch een van de betete concerten. Dank u.

What IS this? Seriously? Poor Ollie Halsall having to put up with this "experimental fusion". What a waste of musical genious. Have to stop now - or I´ll fall asleep ...
uh, first off that part is not fusion at all...it's just a bit of open spaciness ala pink floyd if anything. Secondly, you do know ollie and patto was considered fusion of sorts, right? at least a prog or rock version of fusion, not jazz per se. So if you like ollie you cant knock fusion, I mean ollie filled in with Tempest after allan holdsworth left. The term fusion is misused and misunderstood.
incredible gig with the great Ollie Halsall so underrated guitar player

I am in love 40 years too late
With those rock star good looks, Kevin shoulda been a superstar. I love his songs.
I can't believe it's been over three years. Such a loss.
Great film of Kevin at his peak. My favourite of his songs, too. Beautiful.
gracias
Sublime, beautiful version. That middle section could have gone on forever
Kevin could make something as simple as raising his guitar look like the stuff of magic.
Ultimate seducer
Nice memory of a young Kevin Ayers. Thanks for the download.
R.I.P., Kevin
I was there
Do tell!!!
the band I've seen on stage. They were great!

Thanks for putting this out this rare piece of footage. A unique talent sadly missed.

With the late great Ollie Halsall on guitar....
I never knew there were so many television appearances of Kevin Ayers. So, why hasn't somebody compiled them on a dvd?
What a gorgeous song.
WOW!
Thank you so so so for this great video of Kevin! ♥
Ollie Halsall on Guitar, he played mostly with Mike Patto, actually he played with many people.
Gracias por colgarlo !!!!!!!!!!!
This is great!

Great man
génial!
beatifull song
thank you for this upload!
Not many people can whisper a song part within an amplified band setting. This is a better song than most Pink Floyd after Barrett.
Got to agree with you. Never liked PF that much after Syd.
always loved the live bbc version of LR from 1974 (?)...

Sublime

Waaaw...
The great Ollie Halsall doing a contemplative solo. Far from his well known virtuosity
Rickenbacker
What I want to know is, where's the rest of the gig man?
Lost, I guess. I've looked, and can't find it.
Should have seen him ...I regret that . 🎇☮️🎆🌺
@@jackiedykins4412 Saw him twice. First on Bananamour tour and second on Yes We Have tour. 😁
Is it Zoot Money on keyboards ?
yes.
Kan iemand bevestigen of dit optreden plaats vond in Leuven? Ik zag hem daar en herinner me zijn kledij.

Baron Saturday Luid natuurlijk
.tempo suspenso.
This is a great song, but this scrappy version didn't do much for me, I'm afraid.
Ricky Wills on bass...
David Gilmor’s friend right?

Well your analysis is far from supreme and looks like an easy listener, that hasn't got a clue what is talking about...
No - not my cup of tea ((( boring! I am a great fan of his pop songs with fine melodies. This is boring with too many noodling effects ...
you can’t appreciate this bc you don’t know about music
