There's 2 songs here. The first John Cale's version of "Heartbreak Hotel" features Cale singing & Andy Summers (of The Police) on guitar & Ayers' band (without Ayers) . The second is Ayers singing "Howling Man" with John Cale on violin (no Summers).
Never had the pleasure of seeing John Cale fall flat on his face before, but loved it. I missed him play a last concert with Lou Reed & Velvet Underground in Central Park N.Y.. I was livid! Thanks for the Great Music, Ben. Will never forget. Tom
Howling man és una passada!!!! En Cale és un crack, em parteixo de riure amb lo friquis que són tots!!! Sense cap mena de dubte un dels millors videos de youtube. Gràcies Pere.
Not sure if you are correct in saying KA didn’t receive enough/ or any support. Maybe it was due to his ‘work ethic’ ? My impression ( perhaps wrongly) was KA was not totally committed to his music career therefore others may of felt it too much ch if a gamble to back him, financially?
He was not great without other people, the early albums had so many good musicians, that is the thing, people like K A never got much support. He did not starve anyway. Richard Branson probably sent him a few quid.
With a comment like that, you simply don't know who John Cale is. Another thing is back in those days it was all sex and drugs and Rock'n'Roll, unlike nowadays where the front man of a band looks like and is as exciting as the guy behind the counter of your local Starfucks Cafe, serving you your Cafe latte.
@@ForARide im a big cale fan i was merely stating that while ollie is a fine guitarist he didnt need to play to the cameras its my view i dont expect everyone to agree with it

Actually if you see the whole show it is mostly Kevin's songs, this is just an excerpt from the gig!
Andy Summers
heartbreaking because it wasn't a good time in his life i don't think. hammered af but the performance is amazing.
Is this when Kevin Ayers fucked his wife??? Did it quick and split ....true
@@MrPjalex Oh it could well be. I didn't even consider that. I just meant it was a time of drinking/drugs.

@@MrPjalexnope, that was something like 74. This is early 80's.

Ollie is not posing, he is just being ollie, very genuine. Andy is great, but well, he is doing some pose bc of the presence of Ollie
JOHN CALE, not Kevin Ayers !!!!!
Best if ya watch the ENTIRE VIDEO!!!
