Yeah! Im so glad you showed Kuoe here. I love their watches! Especially the classic british military ones. Thank you for promoting them ❤❤
This is the first time I've ever heard of them, I'll be definitely checking them out in the future though!.
I think of all of the Rolex-a-like offerings the Kuoe were the only watches featured that makes me want to look at the range to see what else they have on offer ... 🙂
The Citizen Tsuyosa is what the PRX is to a Royal Oak (Or honestly VC Overseas).
I'am amaze Citizen were able to come out with such a great automatic Integrated-bracelet type watch when they are an almost exclusive Quartz /Eco-Drive brand, even though owning Miyota, focusing on primarily dive watch/tool watches
Great video. Thanks.
I’ve always treasured Citizen because I love hard use tool watches, especially their bulletproof Eco-Drive divers. Like you, I was very impressed with the elegance of the Tsuyosa!
Just wish I could find one anywhere without the price artificially high
@@tineye5100 Is that for all Tsuyosas, or only certain colors?
For explorer It could be Nivada Super Antartic.
I've had my Yellow Tsuyosa for a few months now and it has impressed me with its comfort, accuracy and style. Huge thumbs up!!
I bought 1; the screws were impossible to loosen to remove links; dropped it at the local center; took a long time but supposedly arriving any minute.
Agree - felt solid, dial really popped and had a gold tint from some angles.
I love my yellow Tsuyosa as well! I prefer it over my PRX for most occasions. The exhibition case back is a great addition
The Citizen, Seiko, and the Kuoe were my favorites. Well done 🥃
If you don't mind solar, then the Seiko Ssc813 speedtimer is a good daytona replacement.
❤🎉❤😮
Seitona 🎉
I’d get the larger version not the 39mm initial release. It just looks too small IMO. The proportions are a bit off. It was a flatter it would look bigger. I would pick the 41mm Speedtimer. I just sold the 39mm panda on Ebay.
@@Ben-yw8be Ssc911 then. However, for someone with smaller wrists like me, the Ssc813 is godsend.
@Ben-yw8be lust received the bigger one Ssc 911 . Beautiful great watch🥂
I bought the tsuyosa after it was on the channel and it's definitely a banger. For some reason mine has hacking seconds as well? Got it for £180 from Germany
I have the "Tiffany" Tsuyosa and love every bit of it, but there were times that I think the yellow looks better.
Well, any colourful colleciton needs a yellow or orange dial or case. Tsuyosa would be a perfect representative.
A more expensive (but still sub-Tudor price) alternative to the GMT Master would be the Ball Watch Roadmaster. Ceramic two-tone bezel in a variety of colors with choice of dial color too.
Love those Kuoe watches, almost pulled the trigger on one a few times
I have the Tsuyosa, yellow dial, absolutely love it!
Casio has a date just style too for $50 or so
Check out the Rotary GMT with the pepsi bezel. Definitely a good alternative.
What fun video! I thoroughly enjoyed it. What a unique channel you have
can you do an episode on best alternative date bubbles? I am not a big fan of rolex but that 2x magnification is amazing, however no one else seems to do it..
My Explorer substitute is the Steinhart Ocean Adventure Classic. Convinced me that I could live with an Explorer, so I bought one. For the Yacht Master, look at the Islander ISL-18.
I will definitely will get a Kuoe on my next trip to Japan.
Very helpful! I'm shopping for a nice but affordable watch for my husband and love these suggestions!
One of my favorite watches is the sturhling depthmaster. Basically a rolex seamaster esque submariner style diver with the clicky bezel lots of really decent lume and a screw tight crown. Says 300m water resist. Its swiss made enough to get the "swiss made" label with CL-888 movement which is a chinese movement but somewhere along the line enough "swiss labor" has been added to slap swiss made on the back, and it keeps time really well. They are made in china but the blue dial on the one i have i really love. I think it was 350 bucks which isnt cheap enough for it to be called cheap but its been a daily wear for me for almost 3 years now. Its got a hacking crown which is a surprise, i believe 38 hour power reserve, and upon my inspection, 21 jewels. However it says 18 jewels, but i think that is excluding the pallet fork and the impulse jewels.
I have the previous version of the a Seiko 5 Flieger A (hours on the outer track) it’s a nice watch and is a daily wear.
I have owned many Citizen watches and they have wonderful reliability and the Eco Drive fantastic accuracy. Rolex though a status symbol is way over priced for a chunk of metal on your wrist.
The Chinese with their super clone watches have shown what a Rolex could be sold for if gigantic profit margins were not important.
For the daydate I recommend Casio MTP-1381HD
O'boy,,, you guys killed it, I enjoyed that very much.
Much obliged Lads.
That Boldr is fantastic
Gotta say, that Steinhart looks pretty good.
Can we have a video on selling budget watches? I have noticed that with WatchFinder, HODINKEE, and others it is impossible to liquidate budget watches. Would make an interesting discussion for those of us contemplating an upgrade and pairing down to get that special watch for the first time
Thanks guys I'm thinking of getting a new watch love all these
Got a nice San Martin ranger :) Looks great.
The Citizen nb1050-59a (a JDM @ USD$300) is very similar to both the Rolex Perpetual and the IWC Ingenieur for a great price and includes a sapphire crystal and higher level 9011 Citizen movement.
Love to see your affordable Sky Dweller? Keep up the great work!
That boldr is nothing like an Explorer. Maybe an Explorer II.
The Ball Roadmaster GMT or even the Engineer Hydrocarbon AeroGMT II are some other great alternatives to the GMT Master II.
For the Yacht-Master how about an Islander ISL-18 at the low end $329 or a more premium option of the Formex Reef at $1830.
steinhart is pretty dope... i like the ocean 44 gmt quite a lot
that royal smith is something else man
Very unique to find something like that these days
2:11 - Good on Citizen for having screwed links, but it looks like one of them is about to fall out.
I took a look at the Steinhart offerings and saw quite a few that possessed more than a passing resemblance to Rolex models. Of course, you could actually buy the Steinhart!
Best cheap alternative to Daytona Panda: Seiko SSC813/SSC911, Orient WV0041TX, all solar quartz watches
Best cheap alternative to Daytona reverse panda: Timex Waterbury Chronograph reverse panda
Check out the Citizen Corso Eco-Drive Date. Two-Tone Stainless Steel with Jubilee style bracelet.
19:22 excuse me sir, did you have a stroke
For the Explorer, look at the Traska Commuter. Not a clone or homage at all, but fills the same position in my collection. Small, elegant and rugged. About $600, and worth it. 100 meter WR, sapphire, Miyota 9000 something movement.
And there must be a thousand Rolex dive watch clones. Even Steinhart has a better, 39mm stainless example.
I think the Summiteer fits better. I love mine but want their whole range.
The FORZO is AWESOME
please review The echo neutra cristallo dive watch it’s stunning blue or green dial automatic selita 275 movement 500mtrs water resistance
I would’ve picked the Time Factor Smith’s Watch for the Explorer
Love the Citizen watch…just wish they made it with an eco solar movement…so much more practical than an automatic watch.
First premium watch and probably the only one I'll ever buy. Stuck between the black bay 58, Pelagos 39, or the Ranger not sure what to get
I own the 58 and the Ranger. Honestly both are marvelous!
@@Jaymepenni I'm going to go look at them in person. Hopefully seeing them up close will help me decide
Bb58 or pelagos 39 you will not be disappointed
The seiko snxs79 is hands down the best rolex alternative around 100$ if you want a watch from a respected brand.
I sold mine because it was an ugly piece of junk. Its only redeemable feature is the dial, everything else about the watch is pitiful. I'd rather proudly wear a g shock than another piece of trash like that again, and im done listening to clowns on TH-cam and wasting my own hard earned money.
@@davidf3974 This watch i personally think is beautiful and good quality for the money,if you dont like it,its okay, buy whatever you like. This comment was a suggestion, nothing more, nothing less.
@@davidf3974i
If it was an ugly piece of junk why did you buy it. You didn't did you. Your just making up stories
Rotary Henley is a great "homage" to the submariner.
I miss the older style videos with just the watches and an amazing narration by Andrew.
yh these new style vids are a huge downgrade but i guess its probably easier for them to make
I don’t.
Old style was a lot better.
I like both. Hopefully a balance is struck.
I felt that their humor came off better when it was just microphones, funny graphics, and b-roll
Anyone had experience with Kuoe yet? Ive had my eye on them for sure but still new enough to watch apppreciation to be entirely uncomfortable assessing brands completely myself.
Bought the Royal Smith 90-008 (cushioned case) in silver/silver 2 months ago, and I can say that it is worth every penny! Visited the actual store in Kyoto and tried on all the models. They are all high quality timepieces. From it's fine finishing to its robust miyota movements. Can't go wrong choosing any model from the lineup they have.
@@delonteeast7955 Thanks for taking the time to reply. They really do seem like beautiful watches.
'Rolex...no soup for you'. Perfect,
I would submit that the Longines Conquest VHP is a worthy alternative to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual. It truly is a perpetual with it's perpetual calendar. Yes it is a quartz, but a high end one. At under $1000, it is a bargain.
I'm eyeing up a KUOE Royal just waiting to change jobs prior to do so
The seiko supposedly 5 flieger does not have a recessed crown!
That Citizen gives me Oysterquartz vibes.
That Victorinox is gorgeous, but at 43mm it's a no no for me, unfortunately.
Why not the Q Timex GMT as an alternative to the Rolex GMT Master II? It's far more affordable than the Delma and looks more like the Rolex...FWIW...
We need a video of Tom’s personal Seiko collection
integratedness?
the Kuoe is so so handsome….
And so very unique...
It’s “Wilma!” You dufus! Lol lots of love from Melbourne
5:18 No Chinese movements for me. Shame that Forzo didn’t go with a different movement.
The cap on the Kuoe is cap-tivating.
I have the Tiffany tsuyosa and i love it. I wear it often
I am 68 years old and have never owned a suite, a Rolex is also on the list.
A nice video, but you can not call your alternatives cheap, they less costly than a Rolex, but not cheap. A couple of days ago i pushed the buy button on a Octopus Kraken Q010 Titanium, in kronor it cost me 4 754,02kr with a Sellita SW200 movement. That is the most expensive watch i ever bought. It is a homage to a Tudor Pelagos. But one watch at that price is as high as i can go, so in order to call your alternatives cheap you have to below $ or £ 100.
Given you are a pre owned watches company, I feel like you could talk pre owned prices as well
I will take an indiglo over a datejust any day. Wait, no, I would take the datejust, sell it, and buy a mountain of sweet sweet indiglos.
Snapping on a Rolex Bracelet is the watch equivalent of shutting a VW Golf door 😈
That Citizen looks a lot like a 34mm OP date
It does indeed. I have had my 34 OP 15200 since 2005, when you could actually buy a Rolex from Rolex 😂
@@jamesrobert4106 Nice,I bought my partner the salmon dial pre owned years ago for £2250 😳 fair to say it’s increased in value some what
I like Boldr but I'm sorry that is a stereotypical field watch layout ... no where near a Explorer dial.
The Tsuyosa is nowhere near a flagship model for citizen. The Jounetsu collection chronomasters are flagship models. The finishing and movements are top quality. Grand seiko level.
Could you expand on those units tom?
- absolutely not! 😂😂😂😂
I'm surprised the Spaghetti Scameti iCon didn't make an appearance...
Give it time. A classic in the making. Luxury at affordable prices.
Steinhart are actually really good, I've had my ocean one titanium for 7 years now, and I still love it. Now Rolex shamelessly copied it
Unmentioned is the fact that the Sinn is also an EINSATZZEITMESSER.......deployment timer...?
Rolex Daydate: Im looking at the Tudor Royal, in the 41mm with the day complication. Earlier yall did a video on this piece, and Im absolutely in love. Surely I wont have to sign over the rights of my first born to a Rolex AD to get this one. In addition, Tudors dad is Rolex, so Ill be quite fine keeping things in the family with this look alike.
I bought one. Get it purchased. The watch is beautiful.
I don't know why more watch companies don't have the crown at the 4 o'clock.
It always looks like Tom is lying on the floor on a pillow to me lol
The Sinn is an einsatzzeitmesse. Damn good thing.
The logo and "automatic" are too high and low, respectively, on the first Citizen. It seems like a tiny thing but it's about as objective an aesthetic mistake can get, and would bug the hell out of me. //edit: lots of the lower end makers do this, it's one of the first things I look for. I wonder if there's an hush-hush agreement that a serious disproportion must be present to avoid competition. It seems like a cheap fix, or maybe it's some Japanese preference.
80000 A/m is roughly 1000 gauss.
19:22 XD
Thank you for continuing to try and sell the Tsuyosa, as it seems so many channels are trying to do.
When Citizen is accused of being boring, the Tsuyosa is what I think of.
And I'm a dress watch guy.
Sports watches that flirt with dress are BORING
Diameter is whatever. If you can't bring the thinness, you aren't dress.
You can do the same, but with patek philippe.
Just one question: Do they tell you what time it is, like a Rolex?
Then count me in!
Great video. When are you going to put Tom back in his padded cell?
I love peeled fruit on my doorstep
Omega seems to be going the same way as Rolex, unfortunately
No Sky-dweller alternative?
Is it just me or is the dial on that Boldr a complete disaster? Maybe it’s the bubble crystal or the obscene amount of metal around said crystal. Hell, maybe it’s the cheeseball description, including that total BS about the crag on the clasp. I just don’t want it anywhere near me. Crikey, what a clunker!
Great
Ihave a citizen watch before 10years old
Your cat is walking on the piano again :(
🙀
Your voice track is a bit off
"EINSATZZEITMESSER"? Really? "Yeah, this is my new watch...I can't say the name, but it's nice."😅
I look at the yacht master, i see... 5KX
Yes yess yessss.. !! Cheap alternatives .. 🙀
800 grit?! That was 320 at most.
You were doing so well, but the correct answer for the Explorer alternative is the Smiths Everest. 😉
The Explorer is an alternative to the Smiths since it came first and the 53 explorer looked nothing like the modern version.
@@garyboyle695 Good points; to add to which.
The Smiths that summited Everest was the A409 - a modified A404. The closest to this today is the Smiths Everest Expedition (which is actually closer to the A454 as it has a central seconds). The Smiths Everest (not Expedition) is a copy of / homage to the Rolex Explorer and is not a re-issue of an historic Smiths watch.
The Explorer didn’t summit Everest, no Rolex did that year. But the Rolex that was given to some members of the Team (not Hillary) was an OP with gold hands and partially numbered indices. The Rolex Explorer was released a year later in honour of the Expedition’s success.
The modern Smiths (both versions) are excellent alternatives to the Explorer.
Also, a better OP option would have been the Christopher Ward Sealander 36mm.
