Thanks for watching guys , really apricate all the subs likes and mega live stream viewership we have had recently ! iRacing For now still has the most compettive fields and largest range of content , but with the quality of racing in LFM and the fact LFM with AC is is basically free or £6 a month then when you consider RF2 ranked and then all the ranked sims comming next year , I think iracing really might have some stiff compeition to beat !
same in south america, people cry about iracing's netcode but AC netcode is worst with large ping, car instead of lighty rubbing with the other car (a classic iracing 0x), both cars rebound far away like they are made of rubber in AC
This is the same issue I came across. It's not terrible but it separating netcode (smoothness of other cars) to collision netcode it's a tough choice. Racing in RF2, AC and ACC compared to iRacing the smoothness isn't there but the collisions are a lot better. Honestly if iRacing could sort out the yeet collisions it'd make a world of difference to the close racing.
Being in New Zealand I find that I just end up in a high ping iRacing server anyway and even when it's low ping iRacing netcode can be very random with ghost collision that has basically trained me to not battle. I was so surprised when I switched to rf2, I don't even think about netcode in that sim.
Thanks for the heads up . Fellow Aussie here and was thinking about LFM but if the ping is horrible I won't bother. I hate games that don't support our region and they expect us to play lag fests and somehow be competitive lol I regret watching this video
AC with the endless amount of free mod tracks running in LFM is game changer. Imagine running super fun tracks like Riverside and Port Newark online. I'd like to see some RSS and VRC cars run in LFM also.
Design an integrated UI like iracing and then have a discussion... I think what will hold LFM back is how disjointed it feels between the website and link to AC currently. I also appreciate the voice chat in iracing. My 2c.
Connecting to races from LFM isn't that disjointed. You click join on the site and via CM it connects you directly to your race and split! It's really quite simple and easy! It's really only 1 extra step over iRacing! That being said, I do hope Kunos have reached out to LFM to potentially provide an integrated experience with AC2!
@@yobdrzl I agree with you totally, my comment comes from a place where I was totally new to the setup and how it works. It does work, and it works well, but from a new users perspective, it was a little unclear, perhaps clunky to start with. Especially getting the mods loaded in and the Penalties app working properly. Looking forward to AC2!
i think the problem for a good chunk of people is the pissing about going here there and everywhere to start/plan/do races as apposed to just doing somehting natively
The big problem for LFM is going to be licensing. Ultimately the service will need to be funded for sustainability and if it grows to any significant size it will get shutdown due to the use of unlicensed content.
LFM is good but as per the other comment, ping is a problem for us in Upsidedownland with CGI animals. In the last update iRacing improved their implementation of OpenXR and VR experience has improved (for my Quest 2)
@@robertmarks8885he just likes to make videos saying how good AC is and Iracing is going to die yet no hasn't happened. It's his opinion but he talks like it's fact. If he's in races with people who can't do laps with in 1 second of each other then he needs to get into better races with a better ir 😅.
I’m an oval Iracer but I want to learn road racing. I’m getting tired of being nickled and fined for cars and tracks. Because of this video, I downloaded Assetto Corsa and am setting it up now. Thanks for the comparison!
I'd say one problem for AC @ LFM could be licensing - i.e. lack of it in case of lot of the 3rd party tracks and cars. Which of course can be avoided by using just the official content, but that would cancel the biggest advantage of AC.
Like you said; «most simracers are boring 30+ old people with just one hour to race». They don’t want to spend that hour installing mods. And there has already been issues with versions of the le mans track, which eventually was switched to an entirely different mod. Meaning, if you spend the time to race today you may need to do the same a few days later to race again. RF2 on the other hand will cater to these guys by giving them a button to click within the ui, and then you get a new button to join. I have had a great time with AC on LFM so far, but I think the only way iracing would get worried is if they drink the same amount of tea that you do
Well, even boring 30+ old people should have basic technical knowledge especially with having a sim racing setup. With the content manager setting up asseto corsa takes less than 30minutes which I can confirm cause I did it recently..
i dont get the correlation with boring and 30+ that mkes no sense. Most under 20's are the boring ones, they have pretty much done nothing in real life lol
I regret getting this far in the video...! It's a shame it's taken this long for something like LFM to hit the mainstream, iRacing could have done with the competition 10 years ago. I've been on iRacing 13 years and the fact they still have the same issues they had back then (FFB, unpredictable damage model etc) shows how stuck they are, I hope they are worried. I'm today's first new LFM member, can't wait to try it out.
Yeah, sure. At the moment (21.00 CET, Sunday, prime time in Europe) there are 511 drivers on LFM distributed along 4 games (AC, ACC, RF2 and WRC). Meanwhile iRacing has 13k+ online users, almost 300 racing the MX5 at Okayama. I've been on the service for about 1 year now and I don't regret every single cent spent on it. And I really want to see the casual racer downloading the game, then a bunch of mods, then register on a 3rd party website, then try to set up the FFB properly and then, at the end, join a session just to chill... 😂 Let's be clear, iRacing is not perfect, like no other sim is as everyone has its virtues and its flaws, but saying that LFM in a sim not supported by the devs since years can be a threat to it is a nonsense. People heard it when LFM started with ACC, then when it arrived to RF2 and now with AC, but still...
Today at 7pm CET on Mazda there were 700 drivers in 31 splits for a single timeslot. That's almost as much users AMS2 and rF2 put together get in a MONTH according to steam data. Also iRacing got 113000+ unique drivers in the whole Season 4 of 2023. And here he rambles about LFM ever catching up to iRacing. Yeah... SURE. Delusional is the word.
@@Blerpa and it's week 13, the week with the lowest numbers... But the fact that James says that it's easier for casual racer to drop in LFM on AC just to chill and have a good time once in a while that's completely nonsense to me. Not that iRacing is good for it either, considering the business model based on a monthly subscription, but at this point for them RF2 with the new online mode is way more feasable and easy to jump in than AC+LFM, if you're looking for something different than iRacing.
@@RockyTM_301 but, as far as I know, Kodak produces films, which were something used in a market they had zero control over. Camera manufacturers switched the market to digital, Kodak could do nothing to prevent it. Yours doesn't sound like the best example you could come with. By the way, at the moment numbers says 209 drivers on LFM servers (along 4 games), while only the MX5 Series on iRacing had 27 splits of 20 racers each. When LFM went to RF2 it was hailed like the next big thing. Do you know how many drivers are registered for the next race starting in 10 minutes? 1 (one). And to be clear again, I hope that LFM succeeds, because more competition between devs is nothing but good for us. But you have to evaluate real numbers at the end and as of today, LFM has beaten nothing.
That's all fine and good for Rookies but after playing iRacing for two years I would open up the UI and just not have to drive to join a race. iRacing feels like a chore after a while. But I don't feel that way with Assetto Corsa and rFactor2 but the thing that held me back was no ranked servers, now that they have it it's hard to get any work done. I think it comes down to how the sim feels and the enjoyment you get from it. Rf2 with it's dynamic weather and tire compounds is just on another level than everything else. If iRacing can match or better rf2 I just can't see myself coming back to iRacing.
I don't think so. iRacing still has a massive userbase that is dedicated to that sort of competitive environment and already dumped massive amounts of cash in the game. It also has a more consistent level of quality, whereas AC really depends on the quality of the mod. And while there are issues with the handling of iRacing, especially when it comes to recovering from slides, the physics model is still more in-depth especially when it comes to things like suspension and the way the car moves on the track (it's so satisfying watching replays in iRacing because of that), and I find myself still enjoying driving iRacing more. Now that rain is coming in future updates, I'm even more excited when it comes to the future of iRacing.
Visually the car movement looks better in iracing for sure , but as soon as you try to drive in a totally natural way for how one would drive in reality the cars physics brake so one has to literally under drive all the time and drive in a super specific singular way that iracing forces. Race Room , AMS1 , RF2 and AC don't have this issue and ultimately allow one to drive in a much more natural way even if all the sims have specific issues. Once iracing fix there tire model getting stuck in a slide as soon as tires get warm then it will be a way way better sim.
@@GamerMuscleVideos Sounds about right. And the FFB, which is also abysmal. I do think AMS1 is the better one of the bunch, shame it's multiplayer is a pain to get going and you basically have to join a league. AC sometimes can feel like the tires are too rigid.
I don't think Iracing is worried about that, for me, AC and Iracing are totally different racing experience, but in general this is a great thing for more causal sim (but also experienced) gamers! The variety of car-tracks combo could be a major point in AC, I think it will be very fun doing some race in LFM for a lot of people out there
Yeah its so different, AC is far better for people that want to have the feeling of driving the car, iRacing is for gamers that are happy to being bent over someones laps and spanked over and over again with issues that never get solved and more money they don't earn themselves recurring being wasted
this thing also requires setting up a shitload of mods which will turn down some people, there is a lively rf2 online scene which is more approachable with great variety and i prefer it these days
I actually *don't* want iRacing to become cheaper, if they do that I would see it as a sign that they are throwing in the towel, because they feel unable to compete. I want to see them using that cash flow to continue innovating and making their service the best. If they can do that, I'm happy to keep paying for my subscription. That said, it is also good that they are being challenged by competition, because without that they won't feel the pressure to innovate.
A thing that you have not mentioned but that can help iRacing is the fact that oval racing in AC mostly sucks, while iracing was created firstly for it
I'm just about out of rookies in iracing but an experienced SIM racer. In order to take part in every round of gt4 coming up, I would need to spend the best part of £200 on tracks alone. I'm not a broke boy but that is very hard to justify when there's already plenty of race sims that I enjoy most of the time.
With a bit of mix and match between series, you can race every week without spending quite that much on tracks. Plus, there is a discount for 6 pieces of content. Also, the buying reduces after the first season. You may also find a series you prefer to GT4. Those cars are dead to drive after the FF1600...
First 5 mins is him taking about how much he hates Iracing, and if you play Iracing, he hates you too. Basically that’s the whole video. I summed it up for you all. There is no value here
As a simracing rookie with my trusty t300 i tried many different sims and i prefer the physics and feel of it compared to the others like rfactor. AC is the only one that has the same good feel and i use it for special cars or tracks i want to try for my own, but i dont want to go to external websites, get mods etc for online racing. I'd rather stay at my d license races in iracing just for the clear path and good rating system it gives me, the overall experience is completely unmatched. Also i would always stay at the sim where the pro leagues are bc even if i will never be at their level, i still enjoy the feel of being in the same ladder as them. The only thing i would change about it is the graphics, the cars look fine but the tracks and UI are undeniably ugly as hell
Its a hard pick between a subscription model that no matter how much dlc you buy you don't own unless you keep paying for the sub each month or a game that feels, looks, and sounds better for $12 on sale. But instead i play Rf2 because its better for online racing right now.
wow do you talk a lot of smack about iracers. 2.5 minutes in and the last 45 seconds have been smack talk. im gone. I hoped you would have helpfull information but im not waiting around for it.
I find the VR comment about AC a bit odd, as out of the box (prior installing CSP) iRacing had much better performance with HP Reverb G2, and required less tweaking. But after CSP, AC looks prettier but iRacing is just a touch sharper (most likely fixable with a lot of fiddling, in future) but both works great. Same can't really be said about Madness engine based games for some reason, I need to lower so many things in PC2 in example to get bearable results, and ACC is just PITA to get play nicely. (TUF RTX3080 OC, Ryzen 9 5900x, 32gigs 4000MHz memory, win 11)
Seems like anymore everyone wants to see the big guy fail. Seems like they get a kick out of it. I love iracing and they do it the best in my opinion. Don’t like it then don’t pay for it sheesh. Not other stuff isn’t good but so sick of hearing about the price.
Video comes right on time for me been doing iracing for a year and doing pretty good just got AC and wondering about LFM. Man talk about being at a crossroads. I guess it depends on what I really want? Love your videos btw..Thanks
"I have to say, after having done a few million MX-5 and LMP races..." 😆 I completely burned out right at the first sentence, great work mate 😃 Also thanks for re-directing me back to AC. Lately, thanks to you, I had quite a blast driving that old sim.
I regret getting this far into the video. But I have been watching you play this and I enjoy it. Dusting off the rig and going to give it a try. Thank you for the video GM, enjoyed it.
If you enjoy oval racing then you're going to be on iracing for the foreseeable future. I do appreciate iracing's commitment to improvement. They're always moving in the right direction and you know that they aren't getting shut down anytime soon. The price for iracing is the biggest hurdle. Tough to justify hundreds per year. But compared to other vices e.g., drinking, smoking, gambling, at least iracing is cheap.
i dont see it as a vice, a vice i consider detrimental to ones health, hence you use negative 'hobbies' We can only compare the cost of racing versus the cost of other racing options. Therefore it is actually expensive. I dont really run most series cos i cant justify buying 10 new tacks for every car i wanna try. however that doesnt mean i think iys bad value for money, thats another discussion
Commitment to improvement? Maybe the first 6 or 7 years (I joined in 2009), then it's only been about new content and money, a working dynamic track which lasted 2 years before getting totally destroyed by a tyre model "upgrade" which turned out to be complete trash from the beginning, and it's been that way for what, 4 years? I wouldn't call that commitment to improvement. And I'll stay away from them until they really start to address their ridiculously flawed tyres and the inevitable exploits that come with it.
Reason I prefer iRacing is I know I get the series I want every day and week. I played a ton of shooters and my main one was Battlefield, and for the last game they moved to rotating playlists for all but 2 core game modes. I hated the 2 constant game modes so every week I had to pray that the devs let me play something fun. Some weeks I had a ton of fun but then a week later it's gone. And it's the same with LFM and AC, they will rotate stuff, it's down to them what I spend my time with. But what if I want to drive 12 weeks of Porsche Cup or Super Formula? At whatever time I wish? Then I play iRacing But I see your point how AC with LFM does the thing for many casual sim racers. The ACC side of things is actually really competitive in LFM and is not too different from iRacing's top splits. I just got tired of GT3s though
I see the paid subscription + paid content as a plus on the iRacing side. It's sad to say, but just like a high rent area keeps you away from a lot of troubles, a paid subscription on a game filters out all the kids who are only there to play wreckfest.
It doesn't at all.. I have done thousands of iracing races it's full of crazy kids and people with 0 race craft and out right wreckers especially in top split and in a bunch of series. So no the fee to play doesn't make the racing better it's moderation / ranking and structure that has the biggest effect.
Hello from Canada, first view of your channel and totally enjoyed your content until you said “enjoy your tea”, however I’ll forgive you on this lapse.😀 I have just started the new FM and must admit I really enjoy it and now I’m getting all these Sim Racing channels. Who knows where this will take me?
I believe Daniel Morad might disagree? Check out his most recent video where he answers viewers questions. He is quite clear as to why iRacing is superior to ACC. I assume the same comparison might apply to regular AC? Maybe I'm wrong. That is if you are interested in realistic handling/breaking. He says you can't even compare the two. It's not even a fair fight. I'm curious to know how he would respond to this. I'll ask him. That being said, personally, I do appreciate the sentiment here. I'm very much interested in looking forward to pursuing LFM once I get my rig built.
AC handles nothing like ACC , morad is probably the only professional driver I know that's really a big fan of iracing. Dave perel specifically likes ACC and GT7 Only thing that matters is AC is the most realistic and this is backed up by the fact a bald tea drinker says so. Also max verstappen has said the original AC not ACC is the best to train with and it's really good so I think that wins. You don't need the views of pro drivers anyone that's remotely sexy can tell AC is on another level right now. If iracing fixes it's tire model getting stuck at the limit / overheating from basic driving and stuck in slides then it could get there.
I was on the same grid as yourself for the Sarthe LMP3 race. It was super fun. Just have to figure how to not have the penalty calls appear right in front of my face and to do enough qually laps to get the fuel load right. Newb moves I know, but overall was super fun!
I for one welcome it. I just want some fun quick races. Unless you're on iRacing constantly, paying for setups or creating your own setups it's difficult to jump in and be competitive.
I regret getting this far in the video, but I also agree. It isnt LFM AC that iracing should be worried about but the combination of things to come including AC LFM. I also believe its Thanos clicking his fingers and is inevitable. Sooner or later that iRacing secret sauce will be realised to not be a secret and others will pick it up and run with it.
For people like me who plays maybe 10-15 races in a week or two and then the next one in maybe 3 months this is perfect. I quit iRacing because it's just not worth it. I have other hobbies so this is what I always wanted. You need some practice to perform decently but I love to start my computer and be racing in 10 minutes against 15-25 human players. Btw I discovered LFM AC races thanks to your channel so thank you 🙂
Rain will affect hotlappers a lot more than the casual guys. If you can maintain a good SR without practice, you are driving conservatively, listening to the tyres, etc etc. I actually see it as a playing-field leveler.
iRacing has its flaws, but I feel kinda worried that nobody is considering cheating. I did an lmp3 race, and even at the top of my gearing (which cant be tuned) I was still getting gapped on the straights while running very smooth frames.
meh, I race in VR, and iRacing is where its at. Its more than just the competitive environment. iRacing just works, integrates really well with my motion system, has great haptic feedback, great FFB etc.
I regret getting to the end of the video to hear about tea.... I started recently and enjoy what iracing gives... mind you was just 30 euro for a year sub through steam in black friday so i may have a different idea next year, but I enjoy the 'ease of use' of iracing and honestly prefer the physics with my low tier wheel... AC is great but i find it takes too much time of my 'old git' to set it all up and have all the cars and mods i want to have... I am much more into ACC than AC at the moment as I prefer a 'bottled' content than all the (amazing) modding that AC offers.
I’m a distinctly average driver, but have had a lot of fun with RF2 online this week, driving mid pack in rookie radicals / Tatuus, having not done a lot of online racing in the past. Every race is full & fun. And compared to iRacing, RF2 online is free. I like LFM, but I wonder if RF2 could become the new thing instead?
@@JallyTee I’ll keep getting my rating up bit by bit and hopefully meet you sometime in a race! 😜 It’s really promising how many people are racing RF2 online, I hope it keeps going from strength to strength - I actually hope Reiza are watching RF2 and do something similar for AMS2 too 🤞🏼
I dont regret buying a year of IRacing as much as getting this far in this video. But i wont get anything beyond rookie stuff for sure. If AC2 comes straight away with built in support for third party rank systems it is going to be wild.
i was literally 3 feet aay from a car last night when its wing jumped across the entire track taking s both out as tho wed hit each other at 200mph . netcode is a genuine joke sometimes and the damage model, jeez, smack someone and get 20sec damage, touch a spinner and get 12mins
I like the way that AC gives you posture tips. Just before you were about to go down the hill near the end of the lap it said "Back Straight" at the top of the screen. (Lime Rock ftw).
I think rFactor 2 is just a test dummy for Race Control system and the endgame is for LMU to become the go-to sim for prototype and endurance racing, being all officially licensed and so, just like ACC will remain king of GT3 despite some excellent mods for AC.
I reget getting so far in the video, as someone that is thinking of getting in Sim racing, this makes much more sense till I get use to it and get the feel of sim racing.
I regret watching all your videos. But like a persistent sim racer I still do it. I’m just happy with the choices we have now. Good time to be racing pixels ❤️
Even was a person who races on Iracing most of the time I’m really happy about this because competition is always a great thins ultimately this will lead to iracing getting better and LFM getting better
While it's not hard to get AC to work with mods, most of the time i just want to hop into a race when i have time for it. Any updates, installs, opening any browser or tool at all is already taking away from what i actually want to do. You don't park your fun car 10miles away with zero fuel and unmounted wheels either. It's fully ready to get sended in the garage.
Yeah, no. LFM might be ok for Europeans but when I used it for Rfactor2 I could only find a race on Saturday mornings. Hope as much as you want gamerboy but I don’t see any free platform overtaking them. I do love them getting more competition though as it always is good to have competition but overall I just don’t see them being overtaken at all.
idk as someone who's been on iracing for a bit I just can't see myself making the switch to a sim without voice chat. the races feel so lonely and empty without people raging and stuff imho
I basically quit iracing because of the netcode first, and then I realize rfactor 2 was way more realistic and way less costy. I am discovering AC atm and it’s a great mix between those two. It’s not as hard as rfactor 2 but at same time realistic enough to have pleasure. It’s perfect to have races after a day of work for me.
i regret getting this far in the video also, as a sim racing noob, ACxLFM has been a great experience versus surfing the pub servers. quality of races are generally better and, like you said, it's just convenient being able to jump into the one or two races a day that I have time for. not about to spend iRacing money to do that
It's good to see there are options out there, but I think iRacing is still ahead by à large margin. I will gladly keep paying for better and cleaner racing, better cars, much better tracks, and even better updates.
Cleaner racing? Maybe. Better cars? Nope. Much better tracks? Probably better scans in iRacing. Better updates? There is a lot of small updates but nothing big really. Depends on how LFM develops in and what series they decide to run I might drop iRacing subscription.
Yep keep enjoying spending a bunch of money. I'll enjoy saving it and spending absolutely nothing for an experience that's just as good. iRacing is not better. Keep lying to yourself👍 Leading 3 races in a row in MX-5 rookies on iRacing just to try it out. ALL 3 TIMES I was taken out by a lapped backmarker that just turned into me while I was trying to pass and instantly ruined my race ALL 3 TIMES. Never touching iRacing again after that ABYSMAL experience that I had to PAY FOR. I had to PAY to be taken out by IDIOTS. Yeah iRacing is so much "cleaner" SMH at that statement. Getting taken out sucks in any game but it's a lot easier to deal with when you don't pay monthly to greedy crooks who can never get enough. AND I have to pay for DLC?! No. It's one or the other not both. It's either free content with a monthly/yearly sub or paid content with a free sub. NOT both. Like I said, pure greed. Plus AC FFB and tire simulation is light years ahead of iRacing, it's not even close. Keep fanboying a company that robs you monthly/yearly when there's a one time price $20 - 30 alternative that's just as good. It's hilarious. Also are you enjoying your 20+ year old game engine with PS2 graphics from NR 2003? For a monthly/yearly subscription at that? I hope you are.
I very much doubt iRacing is anyway concerned about LFM. But in saying that any form of competition from LFM or LMU is good for SimRacing. We need more Sims to be able to push each other to get better and that does not happen when you really only have 1 option for competitive online.
I regret getting this far in the video! I did get in on the Iracing sale for 75US a year for 2 years but I found out that the cars I like to drive there is very little if any participation. Maybe just my schedule? I'm still trying to wrap my mind around AC2. What is Kunos going to bring to the table? This is going to be of interest to me! LFM fits my schedule the best when I want to race online. AMS2 for offline Ai is really outstanding comparatively speaking. Others to race Ai requires online connection?? Go figure. Had more to add but I'll save it, LFM LMP3 race is coming up.
I regret getting this far while you banged my forehead with a plank. I honestly don't think iRacing will worry. They have hundreds of thousands of people who pay the subscription and tens of thousands who are buying cars/tracks all the time. Those who play it, will die on the hill that it is the absolute bestest thing ever and no other sim is even close yada yada. And thats ok, whatever revs your engine. I think where LFM will shine are people who just don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on renting a game and it's content that you "bought" but can't use unless you keep the sub going.
I let my iRacing subscription lapse. I couldn't justify paying a fee to use it as well as needing to pay for content. I have AMS2, rFactor 2, AC and ACC, although I've uninstalled ACC because I hate the penalty allocation in which I lose SR when I get rammed up the brownstone!
Mine is running out in 2 days. After almost a year with iRacing I realized that: 1. I only drive iRacing when there is series on track I like. When there is none I drive different sim. Sometimes there have been like 2-4 weeks I didn't drive anything at all in iRacing. 2. I prefer sheer act of driving in AC1. 3. I am not that competitive to justify inferior driving experience for better competition. 4. I love and need variety. Ability to drive so many different cars in AC without paying is unmatched. You can't drive historic cars in iRacing. (something like RSS formula 1970) 5. Some cars in iRacing are quite bad and you can't refund them. (911 Cup) 6. Sometimes your favourite car in iRacing goes legacy and you can't drive it anymore. (Ferrari 488). 7. AC FFB adds a lot to the experience. This really makes me think should I renew sub again.
IRacing should finally take a look at their subscription system. I've been told time and time again that IRacing was worth every penny because no other sim offered such good online racing. Well, now there's a game that's worth less than two IRacing DLC tracks and you only have to pay for once offering better physics and close hourly ranked racing. I've had IRacing for two years and recently cancelled my subscription to return later, but right now I see no incentive to pay that much having this.
I personally disagree. I am okay with the subscription price for iRacing and the effect it has. The obscene pricing for individual pieces of content ON TOP of the subscription, though - that needs to be re-worked IMO. Going to your first full season in something D class after rookies will run you £85-£110 up front! Of course content and some cars will carry over between series and seasons but still - it's too much on top of the sub.
@@jonasclementdk Yeah, my problem with the price does extend to the individual pieces of content. For the price of each of those I can buy an entire other sim on Steam.
I feel unless one of these systems is properly built into a game its going to prevent the average person from jumping on. Theres been systems like this before that seem like game changers but they ultimately fizzle out.
Yeah I worry about this too but ACC seems to have a healthy but small player base on lfm even though AC usually has 6 x the amount of current players, not sure how much of this is just drifting a cruising players... I guess time will tell. RF2 now has a good built in ranked system that's easy to use but it's had a drop off in player base since AC launched on LFM but is still ticking over quite well.
If I was an iracing executive, I'd be lobbying to put the prices up. As mentioned, they might be better off writing off the mass market. I certainly do regret getting to the end of the video :)
To be fair they probably could and it would make people feel it was "more exclusive" and more premium , people already feel that way now due to price ( and some stuff it genuinely does to very well/better than other sims) I'd actually say if they did say £15 a month but everything unlocked which in long term would cost people more , it would really help the sim especially if they also fixed tire model and net code issues , then offered a reduced totally free to play mode.
Agreed! I'm one of the very turnip brain's that probably overvalues it because it costs significantly more than the other sims. We are irrational creatures, otherwise nobody would buy overpriced designer jeans. You're probably on to something with splitting the pricing model to suit two diverse audiences. There's been the influx of younger 'gamers' who could use the free to play mode. Then there could be a subscriptions service catering more to the middle aged motorsports fan. I think I'd keep the option to buy premium pieces of content to squeeze the older players with disposable income who probably collect the cars and tracks like they might collect RC cars or model trains. Maybe they've seen the threats and that's why iR are moving into console game development. Keep up the good work mate. @@GamerMuscleVideos
Potentially, perhaps I should have articulated my point around consumer segmenting as 'people who think $12 is expensive for a car, and people who don't'. @@PazLeBon
How is lfm handling the fact that the content in ac is by now mostly mods of different quality levels and new versions coming out etc, how is it handling potential cheating, like is there a system to detect it? Iracing might be expensive but their whole infrastructure and monitoring system is i guess miles ahead and they have the resources to curate their own content, official licenses etc. Lfm is superb for what it is, i do believe however that at some point it will be swallowed and integrated into an official sim, maybe in ac2, Kunos might wanna buy them.
I'm really excited for it. I always preferred assetto corsa, it just lacked an easy way to get into competive races without crawling up someones butt. I really hope they do a 90s touring car championship, the cars are beautifully done and I had alot of fun with them before. Would love to actually compete in the W201
Only thing I regret is spending money (luckily not much) on iracing. I felt scammed by their buisness model and gave up the whole thing. Plus the ffb sucked so that was also a reason..AC and LFM is all I need right now.
I don't think iRacing should be worried, but they should be a little though. The quality of iRacing is uncomparable in my opinion to any other sim, that's what you get when you pay a lot of money for a service that is alive for more than 15 years with a huge team behind it. They keep devolopping it more and more and they never release something that's not complete. The texture detail of the car, the feel of the car, the physics when you look at the car's suspension bouncing on the kerbs, the precise detail of the kerbs, and the oversteer and even force feedback is just so much better than in any other sim in my opinion. I've been through all of them, i started on AC, then did ACC for a long time and well yeah when shit started to get really serious (that started when i was on ACC) i went to iRacing and a whole new world opened for me, it's just not comparable at all. I always say, if you're just a random guy that wants to have a good time having good competitive races on a friday or saturday night go to AC or ACC, you'll have a wonderful time! But if you're a dead serious guy that wants to get that extra realism and detail and you spend every evening behind your rig just go for iRacing, it's just a whole other world. The only downside that iRacing has is it's pricetag, and that's why people often say other sims are better than iRacing, and of course if you compare it pricewise, there's probably a better option for you if you're not that serious guy. With the upcoming update in iRacing there is rain coming, when this will be realeased i think it will change the game massively and the simracing world would be on a whole new level, if they are going to do a good job on that (which i definitely think they will do because they very often deliver good work) the other sims are going to have a really bad time and this will push the market even harder, the future of simracing is looking great and i'm very curious how this will evolve.
The cars physics are totally messed up at the limit with tires getting stuck in slides ... It's a massive physics issue with iracing that basically means you cnt drive properly. FFB is nowhere as detailed as AC , or RF2 probably in part due to the physics issue above. I know multiple people that race in real life that use AC and AC is used in multiple high end training centers. You might want to also hear what max verstappen thinks about AC.. You would also be surprised what lots of professional drivers have to say about iracing... I'm sorry to say you have been brainwashed by marketing.
Overall I think your right LFM will take a lot of Iracing members. Most of the I time would like a quick clean race trying to be quick, but not need a shower after three laps. But like you state , early days give it time to shake out.
First let me say I love AC, it is my favorite sim. The problems with LFM are many at this time I believe. First you need to buy ACC to get your license... You also need over a 80 safety rating and run 7 laps at 107% or better. So LFM is fine for those that are fast, or have nice rigs but for the rest of us iRacing is the only option. It would be nice if they had options to get your license in AMS2 or AC like they do in ACC. The idea is great but I am not fast enough to qualify and I'm sure there are many more...
Getting 80SR and 107% isn't hard. It's annoying that at the moment you have to get ACC but the AC thing is a beta, it will probably change. Point is if you can't manage 80SR and 107% you are not ready for online racing anyway, iRacing should implement a similar rule as well, rookie lobbies are pathetic. It's not even about being fast, it's about being able to somewhat drive the car not like an idiot, then you already are at 107%
@@drchtct So you are saying I should not be able to race online? Really? Boy you have a big ego don't you... I am 70 years old and don't have the reflexes a young man does so I should just hang it up I guess.. BTW some of the LFM races look like IRacing rookie races too...
@@doubletapgaming1189 you can race online, just not in an environment that looks for serious ranked racing. The issue is not about being fast, 107% is there so that accidents can be avoided and speed gaps aren't too big. If you are 10 seconds off pace, you are a danger to the rest. It's a minimal hurdle to see people are making an effort to learn the track, because that's all it needs to get to 107%, it's not really a speed requirement. Why you need to have 80SR is obvious, again, not a tough hurdle, just the bare minimum of driving skill, like a drivers licence in real life.
@@doubletapgaming1189 u should only play agianst ai obviously, not get int he way oif better drivers, it isnt bad o be slow but its bad to be inconsiderate to faster ones
Having tried LFM I'm 100% certain that I will never drive iRacing again. The no chat environment of LFM was a brilliant idea and all the typical toxicity of online racing is absent.
James, I am one of those poor suckers with a 9 to 5 who can't practice. This speaks to me. However, the price of iRacing is COMPLETELY insignificant to me, because of the former. So, agree to disagree? 😜 (Oh BTW, I qualified right next to you a few weeks ago in the F3, so we can't be THAT unskilled hahaha)
The price of iracing and all simracing for you and people like you is more the mental toll of doing the hobby. A price that's fair greater than any amount of money
what about triple screens on AC? I know on ACC I half to use a software to do triples because Nvidia surround is Awful IMO. It sucks all these sims don't have a simple check this box and 3 screens will work button
I tried both. I started with AC though. VR is in iracing hands down better. From the ease of use to the demand on the GPU. In iracing i have a stable max frame rate with my Rift S, even though I tweaked the ini. file. AC will sometimes drop below 50fps, no matter what I try...and I don't have to deal with all the bloated and insufferable Steam software. With iracing I have no need to upgrade my PC just yet. FFB and physics are in AC better. No question about it. The availability of races in different classes and the matching of players with similar skill levels is unmatched in iracing. If you have an issue you can also rest assured that someone from iracing will get to you within two days, if you contact them. Everything is well maintained and not dependent on third party mods and development. I also made the experience that the racing in iracing is much cleaner once you passed the rookie class,...and even in rookies. AC drivers will drive a lot more reckless. I'm not rich and I had to save up for my rig. How much did you pay for yours? I planed and built it over a period of six months and I even used second hand equipment to be able to afford quality components. That said, I gladly pay $25 a month (this is what it effectively cost me if I brake it down) for everything I get out of it. It's a hobby for me and the benefits of iRacing are well worth it to me(!). I understand that people have different priorities and that not everybody can afford it. I don't understand though why you have to belittle and insult people who chose to spend their own hard earned money on something they enjoy so much. How is it affecting you? I'm not a gamer, I'm a sim racer. I don't spend money on other games or subscriptions of any kind (Netflix, Xbox...whatever). Nobody forces you or anybody else to pay for iRacing. It's of your own choice. So how can something, which you can refuse to participate in and causes harm to nobody, hurt you so much that you have to rant about the people, their equipment and their lives? You're talking about bad life choices. Just looking at you, I could start ranting about the bad life choices you make every day,...but I don't,...because it doesn't affect me, it doesn't concern me, It achieves nothing but mischief and is therefore none of my business.
As an Australian I'll stick with iRacing, the 150 ping to iracings American servers is a world of difference to the 300 ping of LFMs EU servers.
Australia is not a real place , you want me to believe that kangaroos are not a CGI made up animal , absolute joke
same in south america, people cry about iracing's netcode but AC netcode is worst with large ping, car instead of lighty rubbing with the other car (a classic iracing 0x), both cars rebound far away like they are made of rubber in AC
I hate games that don't support our region and they expect us to play lag fests and somehow be competitive lol
I regret watching this video
AC with the endless amount of free mod tracks running in LFM is game changer. Imagine running super fun tracks like Riverside and Port Newark online. I'd like to see some RSS and VRC cars run in LFM also.

RSS will come to LFM, as CEO says
I choose to believe you random internet person. Great news! @@Marocco2
RSS's GTM and Hybrid coming for multiclass
I regret getting this far into the video. My day is ruined & my joy is through the roof. Thank you.
i think the problem for a good chunk of people is the pissing about going here there and everywhere to start/plan/do races as apposed to just doing somehting natively
Its needs to be more streamlined for people who are not good with troubleshooting mods. Sometimes i spend a hour or 2 fixing the mods to race.
Lol been hearing this for over a decade now. There's a reason iRacing is still on top

@@yobdrzlbut that's another thing to do before you can racd
I regret getting this far in the video...! It's a shame it's taken this long for something like LFM to hit the mainstream, iRacing could have done with the competition 10 years ago. I've been on iRacing 13 years and the fact they still have the same issues they had back then (FFB, unpredictable damage model etc) shows how stuck they are, I hope they are worried. I'm today's first new LFM member, can't wait to try it out.
The braking in Iracing is top tier.
Yep. And it’s not even close.
That's what I love about iracing . Braking for oversteer understeer. If ac could add that I would be switching over.
The braking in AC is top tier.
Rf2 has entered the chat
Sure, but tyre model....
Yeah, Kodak said the same thing.. Sure, ppl are going to buy new cameras instead of just buying a cheap roll of film, not gonna happen....
The MAJOR advantage of LFM in AC is the possibility to race with "normal sport car". in ACC, IR, rf2 it's only racing car.
Can't wait for some historic cars.
4:30 Man got done dirty. Sent into the pits and got a speeding penalty to boot XD
Time will tell but I don't see iRacing getting upended, particularly once weather is implemented in 2024.

Thank you for your insight. It helped me understand where I want to start as I already own ACC but have not played it yet.
TL;DR No, iRacing shouldn't be worried at all.
And no; I:m not a fanboy.
this thing also requires setting up a shitload of mods which will turn down some people, there is a lively rf2 online scene which is more approachable with great variety and i prefer it these days
I would like them to be worried and become cheaper but I don´t think they are worried at all atm
I had the exact same thought. It was the 1st thing came to my mind as I was getting into the video
A thing that you have not mentioned but that can help iRacing is the fact that oval racing in AC mostly sucks, while iracing was created firstly for it
but oval racing is boring and mindless
@@siahfishin5295 lol you talked about it just after the atlanta race?
I'm just about out of rookies in iracing but an experienced SIM racer. In order to take part in every round of gt4 coming up, I would need to spend the best part of £200 on tracks alone. I'm not a broke boy but that is very hard to justify when there's already plenty of race sims that I enjoy most of the time.
Come join the Clio Cup, a high percentage of free tracks next season and great fun to race!
With a bit of mix and match between series, you can race every week without spending quite that much on tracks. Plus, there is a discount for 6 pieces of content. Also, the buying reduces after the first season. You may also find a series you prefer to GT4. Those cars are dead to drive after the FF1600...

Basically that’s the whole video.
I summed it up for you all. There is no value here
Video number 1350 about if iRacing should be worried about something!
Tried AC and LFM for a couple week for budget reasons, but having to wait 2 hours for a race to improve my safety rating made me went back to iRacing
Its a hard pick between a subscription model that no matter how much dlc you buy you don't own unless you keep paying for the sub each month or a game that feels, looks, and sounds better for $12 on sale. But instead i play Rf2 because its better for online racing right now.
@JaradPaul01 one is a game model the other is a service. Just like going to a gold course
wow do you talk a lot of smack about iracers.
Thanks for making this I was looking for an iRacing alternative having just started in Sim Racing

Then I play iRacing
But I see your point how AC with LFM does the thing for many casual sim racers. The ACC side of things is actually really competitive in LFM and is not too different from iRacing's top splits. I just got tired of GT3s though
I regret getting this far into the video, and I just don’t understand why LFM is using such low quality mods for their races
So no the fee to play doesn't make the racing better it's moderation / ranking and structure that has the biggest effect.
absolute garbage

Dave perel specifically likes ACC and GT7
Only thing that matters is AC is the most realistic and this is backed up by the fact a bald tea drinker says so.
Might and assume are key words here. ACC is simcade mostly because they made compromises for controllers. AC is fully fledged simulator.
@@nmelolwhich can be driven with a controller 😅
LFM is one of the greatest additions to AC in years!
Unless you're on iRacing constantly, paying for setups or creating your own setups it's difficult to jump in and be competitive.
makes no sense, you are literally placed against racers with the same ability
Btw I discovered LFM AC races thanks to your channel so thank you 🙂
It’s not even just about passing them, it’s about checking them and humbling them to either justify the current costs or to price down
Rain will affect hotlappers a lot more than the casual guys. If you can maintain a good SR without practice, you are driving conservatively, listening to the tyres, etc etc. I actually see it as a playing-field leveler.
except hqalf of tthose guys hit the rest of us
iRacing has its flaws, but I feel kinda worried that nobody is considering cheating.
But the cars don't drive at all like cars at the limit, which is a bit of an issue as the goal of driving fast is driving at the limit
Rf2 intermediate in the Porsche cup and GT3 with changing weather is on another level to AC And iRacing. I have been converted to a rf2 fanboy now lol
@@JallyTee I’ll keep getting my rating up bit by bit and hopefully meet you sometime in a race! 😜
It’s really promising how many people are racing RF2 online, I hope it keeps going from strength to strength - I actually hope Reiza are watching RF2 and do something similar for AMS2 too 🤞🏼
I dont regret buying a year of IRacing as much as getting this far in this video.
But i wont get anything beyond rookie stuff for sure.
If AC2 comes straight away with built in support for third party rank systems it is going to be wild.
Until AC gets oval racing feeling good (it won't), iRacing has nothing to worry about.
i was literally 3 feet aay from a car last night when its wing jumped across the entire track taking s both out as tho wed hit each other at 200mph . netcode is a genuine joke sometimes and the damage model, jeez, smack someone and get 20sec damage, touch a spinner and get 12mins
LMU will be so goood
I reget getting so far in the video, as someone that is thinking of getting in Sim racing, this makes much more sense till I get use to it and get the feel of sim racing.
I regret watching all your videos. But like a persistent sim racer I still do it. I’m just happy with the choices we have now. Good time to be racing pixels ❤️
Even was a person who races on Iracing most of the time I’m really happy about this because competition is always a great thins ultimately this will lead to iracing getting better and LFM getting better
Been bangin' my head the whole time , thx for the content
Dude rf2 is completely irrelevant to AC
idk as someone who's been on iracing for a bit I just can't see myself making the switch to a sim without voice chat. the races feel so lonely and empty without people raging and stuff imho
Lol yah I agree I love voice chat it cracks me up
I regret banging myself over the head with a plank of wood so now I'm watching this video
I basically quit iracing because of the netcode first, and then I realize rfactor 2 was way more realistic and way less costy. I am discovering AC atm and it’s a great mix between those two. It’s not as hard as rfactor 2 but at same time realistic enough to have pleasure.
It’s perfect to have races after a day of work for me.
i regret getting this far in the video
also, as a sim racing noob, ACxLFM has been a great experience versus surfing the pub servers. quality of races are generally better and, like you said, it's just convenient being able to jump into the one or two races a day that I have time for. not about to spend iRacing money to do that
It's good to see there are options out there, but I think iRacing is still ahead by à large margin.
Keep lying to yourself👍
Leading 3 races in a row in MX-5 rookies on iRacing just to try it out.
Hello! which radar is this one? i love the fact that you can see the color model of the cars
After almost a year with iRacing I realized that:
(something like RSS formula 1970)
5. Some cars in iRacing are quite bad and you can't refund them. (911 Cup)
6. Sometimes your favourite car in iRacing goes legacy and you can't drive it anymore. (Ferrari 488).
7. AC FFB adds a lot to the experience.
This really makes me think should I renew sub again.
i regret getting this far in the video... on a side note. Good stuff!
For the price of each of those I can buy an entire other sim on Steam.
iRacing does online racing the best for sure. However they don't do driving very well. Sure braking model is very solid but physics are far from AC.
Great conversation 🏎️🤟🏾
Can I ask you what is that time leaderboard? It looks very nice!
Great video, which UI addon are you using to see the nearby vehicles?
@@martin-hall-northern-soul the seperation of younger and older driver is a tiny bit ridiculous, tho the ages literally is irrelavant
Potentially, perhaps I should have articulated my point around consumer segmenting as 'people who think $12 is expensive for a car, and people who don't'. @@PazLeBon
@@martin-hall-northern-soul yeahhh ;)
I reget getting this far in the video almost as much as what I've spent on sim rigs!
Been having a ton of fun on AC LFM
What are those apps you have? Below the rear view mirror and the scoreboard?
I'm sorry to say you have been brainwashed by marketing.
no way is ffb better
Overall I think your right LFM will take a lot of Iracing members. Most of the I time would like a quick clean race trying to be quick, but not need a shower after three laps. But like you state , early days give it time to shake out.
He said the same about RF2 on LFM 😅😅😅😅
Why you need to have 80SR is obvious, again, not a tough hurdle, just the bare minimum of driving skill, like a drivers licence in real life.
nice rigs dont mnake 90% of folk any faster at all, thats just the reality
@@doubletapgaming1189 u should only play agianst ai obviously, not get int he way oif better drivers, it isnt bad o be slow but its bad to be inconsiderate to faster ones
Having tried LFM I'm 100% certain that I will never drive iRacing again. The no chat environment of LFM was a brilliant idea and all the typical toxicity of online racing is absent.
But AC breaks my FFB on SC2 with OpenXR+Opencomposite and i cant get it fixed :(
a question, how do you have that camera setting in asseto? look so good!
I use real head motion and basically lock the cam to horizon with that , as it stops me getting motion sick.
@@GamerMuscleVideos oh! really thanks
A price that's fair greater than any amount of money
not at all, not even a price, more a payment
what about triple screens on AC?
