The SR-8 was way more fun to drive - the SR10 was not a popular change as the handling is way worse and it tended to understeer like a shopping trolley full of logs. iRacing did fix the setups more recently but a lot of the people had migrated elsewhere at that point.

Talking about Lotus 79" - they have dedicated community that gathers up at prearranged times and then there is a lot of people, but you are right about being niche car.
FR3.5 was fine until SF came along. You missed the point of the Mustang series. There’s an IRL Skip Barber reward associated with it, so people only race SoF splits due to the championship points mattering. I wouldn’t consider Kamel GT or L79 dead either, as they consistently have SoF races with multiple splits. I really disagree with the open setup making participation lower, and videos like this continue to perpetuate that they are harder. The default should always be open, with very few to no fixed set races.
Yeah SF pretty much replaced it Ah I was unaware of the irl reward. But looking through the series results, it still maybe splits once a day on weekdays and maybe a couple times on weekends. Same story imo, they split maybe once a day if that on weekdays, and a couple times on weekends at peak times, so they are kinda a sudo league in a way actually I highly disagree. It’s not that open setup is harder to drive, it’s that in especially lower IR splits, there are usually a few people who have setups, and they absolutely run away from everyone else who is still using the default. Learning how to setup a car fully takes quite some time and trial and error of course. And a lot of people arnt interested in paying for setups. Fixed is a lot more accessible and barring a few series (and special events of course) fixed setups usually have an extra split or sometimes two compared to the open setup series
@@JCRacing57 Your point about setups is miles off. People with the time, knowledge & experience to make one, dont run away from the field because they made a good set. And in the series' you're talking about specifically, the fastest guys share their setups and telemetry with everyone else and are open with setup & driving advice and even 1:1 instruction. Also, 'dead' is obviously a relative term, but if you consider a series to be dead because it doesnt have at least 2 splits every two hours, then most series on the platfom are dead and iRacing went bankrupt many years ago trying to sell content that no one buys or uses... but, that's just not the case, is it?
@Burn447 I agree. I want an Open setup primarily because the quality of driver is better, or at least better prepared. Like, did some practice. Not having splits every day doesn't make a series dead... Classic Lotus, Kamel GT etc have set SOF timeslots each week that the community gathers for, and Kamel GT (now IMSA Vintage) can get 60+ registered most weeks, Lotus 30+ as well on Sundays. And the Radical is far from dead too, 38 signed up this Friday 2100GMT.
i included also more of leugue kinda series as well, Radical is still pretty on and off, Kamel GT is actually not as dead anymore sense its been rebranded to IMSA Vintage Series, witch is great to see!
I think Kamel GT is not helped by not being on the newest tyre model. I drove it for the Special Event this year, and the tyre having no grip at any amount sideslip is really offputting, compared to the much better behaving modern tyre model.
I'm convinced the Skip Barber Mustang series was added to prep for a change over to the new Dark Horse R series that's new for 2024 through IMSA. With as popular as the mustang is IRL, I see no reason why we won't see all three versions of the newest generation mustang.
Nice video mate. I think some cars just die simply because they get out-dated either IRL or because they bring out a newer version in-sim. Can't be avoided. I do wish they would make more multi-class, and just combine the old cars (for the people who still enjoy them) and the new cars. They could easily run the Formula Renaults with the SF23, etc, even just on a weekly basis.

They left the Australian server as is and the rest of the world servers got the shorter fixed set race to try increase participation but unfortunately it pretty much put a nail in the coffin of a series that was struggling as it was and it hurt series long term and we haven't been able to get the euro splits back to the numbers we had previously. It was done I guess for the right reasons as it has worked in other classes but unfortunately not with this one. I hope that next build will get Gen 3 and some people will come back and get good numbers again.
There is a real life Skip Barber Racing School award associated with this series. SBRS does school with mustangs and F4 cars. While I hope you are correct, unfortunately I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a one-off series that will disappear next season.
Small correction: the Mustang series existed in iRacing from around 2010 to 2012, when we were getting 40-car grids. It did get absorbed by the Solstice, Jetta and Mazda multiclass series when participation died. That’s why the Mustang series isn’t a new series with an old car, but rather iRacing reviving an old series. Your point is still valid in that this revival would make more sense with an updated Mustang.
I own the radical and the 79 lotus...both cars are a BLAST to drive, especially the 79, I always check to see if a split will form but never does. There are leagues for them though, alot of these cars that still cost 12 dollars is because there is a big league behind them so IRacing knows they can still charge full price for.

You can buy setups from alot of places that are pretty good, sometimes you can find the occasional setup for free, but yeah most individuals are quite secretive
Iracing releases too many cars and dilutes their own product. They are spreading their customer base out too thin. If they add a car or series they should retire one.
i will agree with you alot here! While diversity in a car / track roster is amazing, i do think they should focus more on their big series. As well as UPDATING. OLD. OUTDATED. TRACKS. *cough* Spa, Bathurst, Monza, Imola ext.
They should return the money to the people who bought the Radikal and the Brasilians Stock Cars, so new, not old series and put them free. But greed is high on iRacing side and I don't see that will ever happen !
Yeah It’s quite shitty to sell content that’s not being used anymore or is very outdated for the same price as new content. But yeah I don’t think that will ever change
They need to rework the series lists entirely. Open wheelers with high downforce should ne a whole new category Rookie - formula vee, formula 1600 D class - formula 4, Skip barber C Class - formula C, formula b fixed B class - formula b open, formula a fixed A class - formula a open Road Rookie - mazda mx5, toyota gr8y D class - radical, clio, gt4 C class - gt3 fixed, touring cars, production car challenge, stock cars B class - gt3 open, prototype fixed, multiclass A Class - multiclass... Obviously with a few others sprinkled in and then daily/every 12 hour events for cars like the classic's and even make classics all in a multiclass
I don’t really agree with open wheel getting its own license class, but I will agree that road is starting to get a bit saturated. I’ve said before I wish iRacing would stop adding new stuff, at update their current catalog of cars and tracks.
They killed the SR8 with the SR10 and thus the radical scene in iracing. SR8 was a perfect car, SR10 had some overhauls, no it's better, but unfortunatly dead, despite being on the Nords...
That stupid as fuck. I got 3k hours in other sims and i recently tried switchin to iracing. Not only its obscurely expensive but also i cant drive cars that i specialise in from the begining (formulas and prototypes). I would love to drive in my favourite superformula but i just cant cause i have to waste time in gettin some stupid license first
It takes 2 weeks to get to a b license if you work towards it. The license system is what stops us from being forza it's not a negative newbies like you can't hop in 500+hp cars. It's a positive, it keeps my races clean
The 79 needs some friends . Would love a grid of 70s 80s f1 cars. The radical is very popular. There's always a race. Just stop making us lose ir. Ir score for every series. Problem solved. The license are just for buying content. A ,offers nothing compared to the other series in other licenses. Kind of a sham. The sooner we get multi class open wheel series the better. And nord meister needs to b fixed. The lotus79fixed. Having odd cars with open set ups kinda suck. They dont even prioritize all the good series, are usually the same hour. Crash out of 1 and the wait really kills it for me. Also my moan is w13's. Not nearly enough content showing us changes. Ever time i think i have issues until the fan base community explain the setting is gone or theres more options to a setting. I went nearly a year with crap trips settings . Iracing just removed them. It was impossible to get curved settings that didnt shrink. I think they have sorted now but every w1 my pc or rig is shitting itself. And its always iraxing changing shit. I tried talking once but its always the same. Every dev is a politician. Its always somehow our fault. Bloody love iracing but the orginisers need a Rasputin. Its been immense the contwmt this season thwn for christmas they gave us a another moto track and a audi that actually doesnt look or sound much different . A bit like a 50pence peace and a big orange in yer stockimg for Christmas.
Diversity in iracing. If you actually want to try these cars and the tracks, it's otherwise known as emptying your bank account for something you'll probably never use! I would say the cost is the reason a lot of series are dead.
GT3 Series destroy iracing, cause the car is very very easy to drive, end 99% its from Gran Turismo, tons and tons of gamers, kids...very sad what iracing it became.
GT3s are the cancer in virtual racing... most boring car class ever... assists, too effective aero to power ratio, numb feedback onthe steering. A car class for old farts with too much money (I am 50 so I am allowed to say that!). No idea why people want to drive that shit voluntarily when you literally can select ANY car type!
Yes that was one that DJ Yee-J did in his video, so like I said I didn’t want to re-cover anything he already talked about. You can find a link to his video in the description!
mostly because of the physics of these cars are the worst on the service... go figure how so many people still put up with the other cars in this game.

Fanatec Global Challenge is not open setup. They also have WAY too many D class series.
Open wheelers with high downforce should ne a whole new category
Rookie - formula vee, formula 1600
D class - formula 4, Skip barber
C Class - formula C, formula b fixed
B class - formula b open, formula a fixed
A class - formula a open
Road
Rookie - mazda mx5, toyota gr8y
D class - radical, clio, gt4
C class - gt3 fixed, touring cars, production car challenge, stock cars
B class - gt3 open, prototype fixed, multiclass
A Class - multiclass...
Yeah making it paid was definitely a killer
When we doing assetto Corsa races again😢 before the F1 season ends
I don’t think I ever will 😕
I just didn't wanna pay for the radical
Yeah I guess it’s fair when the old one was free, it is a new car though, so it makes sense
“Australia is not a huge country”
Wtf are you smoking bud?Hahahha
I should've found that video before buying the Radical eh? 🙃
ouch. 😂
@@JCRacing57 yeah. Fun car to drive though. Let's hope it comes back to life.
It's not dead, look at the series results
Hate how iracing killed of the radical
Yeah making it paid kinda killed it
Diversity in iracing. If you actually want to try these cars and the tracks, it's otherwise known as emptying your bank account for something you'll probably never use! I would say the cost is the reason a lot of series are dead.
too bad the rf3.5 was my fav car in pc2
yeah its quite old now, not much love for it anymore :/
GT3 Series destroy iracing, cause the car is very very easy to drive, end 99% its from Gran Turismo, tons and tons of gamers, kids...very sad what iracing it became.
I mean, GT3 is one of the largest racing classes in the world, especially in endurance racing, which has recently become racing’s specialty
USAC 410 sprint cars are completely dead jaja
RIP
StockCar Brasil
Yes that was one that DJ Yee-J did in his video, so like I said I didn’t want to re-cover anything he already talked about. You can find a link to his video in the description!
mostly because of the physics of these cars are the worst on the service... go figure how so many people still put up with the other cars in this game.
idk what your talking about, especially the newer cars are some of the highest quality on the service!
all they need to do is make sales on those cars. wow! simple!
Yeah some content sales would be nice 😅
Leagues are the way to go..
