The Dodge Hornet is sitting on lots rotting away because dealerships refuse to drop the price of the dodge hornet! It’s believed that it is a 650 days of supply of the Dodge Hornet, which in my opinion makes the dodge hornet the worst selling dodge. $50,000 for a Dodge Hornet is just ridiculously expensive for a small crossover car. Dodge dealers need to realize the car market has changed, and people are no longer willing to over pay for a dodge hornet. You can literally get a Kia Sportage into the low $50s with options, at least a year ago you could. C&D sent an under cover buyer to multiple dealers to get a feel for the markups and prices and they were told $51k for a particular Sportage. $50k is the new $40k, etc etc.

Sat in one in Canada 42,000 out the door for a gt with track pack. It felt very premium, was fun to drive and for the features is similarly priced to a Nissan rogue sv, crv, cx5 etc. The R/T on the lot however was 68,000 cdn and that makes no sense to me whatsoever

Good plan! We can’t sell any Italian Fiats or Alphas or rebadged Jeep Renegades in the US, so let’s rebadge an Alpha to make it a Dodge Hornet and distribute it to American CDJR dealerships. It will sell well. But it isn’t. Everybody knows what it is. And it is priced too high just like the Renegade.

They assumed they could sell a rebadged Alfa Romeo in higher volumes in the States. Honestly, rebadging an Alfa only ruins any prestige the car would have sold with as an Alfa Romeo. And putting a Hornet in ads with Hellcats and SRT's? How dumb does Stellantis think consumers are?

I paid 48k for a 2013 ram 1500 limited brand new with 78 miles on it. How in the world is this car more? The only thing that has changed on the ram current ram vs. the one I had is that huge screen... wow!!! I wanted another one, but I think I'll pass.

The only difference is a big huge screen.
The new Uconnect5 has been problematic on the new Rams. We bought a new 2023 Grand Cherokee L limited with the new Uconnect5. We traded the thing back in after only 6 months. The NAV would drop out going down the road and you would lose the seat memory. Also setting up the digital dash was a nightmare!

You have to understand Hornet GT has a Euro-style 2.0T. It is the same as in the Alfa Romeo Giulia; competes directly with MB M139 and BMW N20. That is not some cheap US-style 2.0T; it is the *SAME EXACT MOTOR IN THE BASE TRIM MASERATI GRECALE!* I agree 100% they are not worth their inflated price with options. However at the base price of each trim, if you could get them for that, that is not a bad deal because you are getting way higher end hardware underneath than you ever got in any Dodge for $30K

Canada is big thou. I saw one in Thunder Bay, ON (probably driving across the country/province) and the second Hornet I've seen has been the one owned by a gas station employee near where I live in Ottawa. I've seen that driver with another car at times. I guess his Hornet broke down or something.

I _like_ the cars for what they are ... hate the price. I look at it like this - a base AMC Hornet (from which Dodge got the name) had an MSRP or $1994.00 in 1970 when those first came out. They were meant to be an every-man's cheap transportation with not a lot of frills. That translates to $16,113.78 adjusted for inflation. I think the base Hornet GT is like twice that today and easily over $50K for a fully loaded RT PHEV (they do qualify for a $7500 tax credit only if you lease one, and you don't necessarily have to meet the burden to qualify for the credit like you do with a purchase) ... the top of the line Hornet actually isn't a bad deal if you lease it given the EV tax credit compared to leasing something that isn't an EV or PHEV for the same price. I guess if you compare the Hornet RT version to a Lexus NX350h you'll pay a lot more for the Lexus (or if you can find a Toyota RAV 4 PHEV Prime) you'll pay about the same based on how dealers are gauging the price on the limited supply of those (and the Toyota isn't as quick - if that's what you want).

The top trim of the hornet has a small set of competitors. The closest one is the Rav4Prime and that one in their top trim is in the 50s if you are lucky to find one at MSRP.
