    Regarding supply and demand- I can only speak for the US and Canada: in the US you can find Spyders and GT4 sitting unsold on new dealer lots, selling for MSRP. In Canada, where the Spyder starts at 69,000Eu (hooray!), I’m told you can order one and get one in 2021 without a problem. This is coming from a friend who owns the dealership. Covid has reduced demand, no question.

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Fluterra, I don't know the US and Canada market, what I do know is that Porsche is still selling at very hi numbers. In some markets the effect of the COVID-19 is higher due to the fact that the dealership was forced to close. Therefore, already purchased cars is increasing the stock at the delars.

    Hi Janko - great production . Agree on the PTV - served me well on recent track day at Goodwood in Boxter T with Porsche club GB - outgunned by the GT3s and 718 GT4 of course , and I did miss the sound of my 991 GT3 at 9000 rpm but the T was great and drove all day with the roof down - letting the fast nature in ....

      A Porsche car dealer will rarely know as much as an enthusiast. They just box tick the usual usual, make it seem like they have split the atom by recommending the smokers pack (for the little lid) and then take your money. Anyone going into a purchase knowing less than the dealer is in for trouble.

      @@JankoLind Took delivery of the 718 Spyder last week. Car is really special. When I compare it to my previous 2016 model I can say that it has more "grunt" if you will, and is definitely faster. The exhaust note is not quite as visceral as my previous car. It's a bit dampened. So I always have the exhaust button pressed which opens it up, particularly after 4,000 RPMs. Love the car and enjoy your videos. Thanks for replying and keep up the good work!

    Hi Janko. Great video! Always wondered, with the significantly lowered suspension compared to even the S models, do you have any issue around the city, clearing speed humps or getting up ramps? I read that the suspension is adjustable for height, but can't imagine many stomaching raising their car either. Would love your thoughts on city driving with this car. Thanks!

      Hi Philip and jogu123, spoiler alert, I've fitted the GT4 front wing. Look closer on my instagram account and you will see. I did NOT hit any speed bumps before fitting the GT4 front wing, but still they need to be quite large to scratch underneath. IF you drive slow over speed bumps, I believe you will manage. But if you are going to daily, select another car...

    This video is like a remastered version of all the highlights of the previous post, I like it , but I'm even more eager for the new Spyder content, being the exhaust by far the hottest topic , but also I'm wondering if you changed your mind about the side scoops ... Did you know that now is an straight forward installation (very easy) ? .. any plotting plan to put over (maybe a number spot like the little 550)? ..by the way how did you glued that guy over the dash? (Just curious to know)... Are you done with the break-in? any oil change to close that milestone? ... So we all get it about being environmental friendly, but, do you know that Cargraphics have a high flow version of the OPF to keep things green ?.. oh so many questions Janko ..

    • @JankoLind

    • @Nord_Mann
      @Nord_Mann 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Max Martz considered it😂 But not with a trailer as we don’t have a car to tow such a big rig, but a Boxster GTS4.0 for the wife and one of the boys and the other one with me in the T. Actually we previously have previously done weekend trips with the wife in the T and myself in the 964Turbo I sold this March, amidst the coronavirus pandemic. It’s a perfect way to travel, with a Porsche companion. On this summers holiday we drove both Porsches half the distance together(720km), leaving the T to be serviced at the PC in Trondheim, the Taycan hauling all the luggage needed for a months summer holiday. Going further south, we all fit nicely in the Taycan 4S+, which actually is superb on Norway’s twisty roads. Range hovered between 460-500kms in Range Mode making us able to just pass 90% of the charging stations. On the dramatic roads on the west coast fjord landscape and steep mountains, switching the Taycan to Sport Plus made me wonder what on earth I need the Carrera T for, that’s how good the Taycan really is. Probably the best car on sale today🥇⚡️

    Janko great review on the SPYDER. I have a 991.2 Turbo in my garage. I was gonna trade my Corvette 427 in for a C8 as my daily driver but seeing your reviews on the 718 SPYDER has me leaning toward it over the C8 ZO6 just due to the “Driver’s Car” feel of the SPYDER. Similar cost in comparison but the C8 ZO6 will be much faster but not the enjoyment that the SPYDER will delivery.

      Here in Spain the same lots of speed bumps (all drivers hate them) i have no problems driving the 718 Spyder so far did not hit the front lip but incase i do Porsche sells the front lip for 100 euro. Worse than speed bumps is excess to the garage as in Spain lots of them are underground but also manageable. Good luck what ever you decide.

    Great video once again, Janko! And the car looks absolutely stunning. From what I've seen so far, the 992.1 GT3 won't have half as nice exterior lines as the Spyder... But GT3 is always GT3, no question. Even though I have contemplated changing my 991.2 GT3 for a Spyder... I presume you're going for manual gbx also in the 992 GT3? Janko...did you have issues with your ex spyder regarding the ground clearance with the stock suspension? I know you also putted the biggest front lip from the GT4, which probably made the capabilities of the car worse if we speak about going in or out from garages ramps , speed bumps, pat holes, etc....i am trying to figure out for my self is it possible to drive spyder 4.0 or GTS 4.0 daily...i don't care if the spyder is a bit firmer , the ground clearence and mainly the height of the front lip is what bothers me most....also probably the noise levels for long journeys (i made a lot) is higher into the spyder cabin with roof up... do you thing it's ok to drive 1000 per day with this car (comfort seats for me ;-)....thanks in advance for your opinions

    • @JankoLind
      @JankoLind  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The GTS 4.0 is the last Porsche I will buy (unless I get a ridiculously good price) I did not have any issues with the clearance. Remember the perk with the GT4 Spyder is that you have adjustable springs wish to make it possible to lift and lower your car.

    But Porsche does not refer to the 718 Spyder as a "GT" car. Whereas they do refer to the 718 Cayman GT as the Cayman "GT". Probably because of the Cayman GT's adjustable suspension, a hard top roof, and perhaps other items that make it more of a serious track car. I don't know, I'm not an expert. But wishing the Spyder to be a Porsche GT car does not make it so. Sorry!

    • @randomhawks3232
      @randomhawks3232 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are mechanically the same exact car Jumpseat, one just has a soft top and no rear wing ( GT3 Touring has no rear wing). As for the name not having 'GT', that's like saying the 911 R is also not a GT car. The primary reason the 718 GT4 has better performance than the prior generation is due to the work that was developed by the GT division to create downforce on the Spyder, which they carried over to the GT4. Hard to call one a GT and not the other with the 718 generation. Sorry!

    • @hans-joachimscheidt4310
      @hans-joachimscheidt4310 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 718 Spyder is a GT car as the GT4. Everything is identical including the adjustable suspension. But they try to hide that a little bit to justify the higher price of the coupe (which should be lower than the open top version). With the 981 Spyder you are right. No GT engine, no GT suspension.

      Janko Lind. Hey, I just watched a PCA TH-cam review of the Spyder and a seemingly very knowledgeable Porsche mechanic went over in detail the engine and suspension of the Spyder. In this interview he actually said that “the Spyder is a 718 GT4 without the roof”. So my comment regarding the Gt4’s adjustable suspension vs the Spyder’s suspension was wrong. I stand corrected. Too bad though they didn’t name it the Spyder GT. Oh well, I still think the Spyder is the more beautiful of the two.
