Here in the Virgin Islands we called the Roselle, Sorrel. It is harvested in November/December and we make wine, drinks and use them in Christmas pies/tarts. That is why they are now growing well, as this is the right time for them.

You should not cover your collards it can take frost freeze, and it taste better so leave your Kalas out in the open throughout the winter don’t even put a frost cover on it leave it open and see how your calls taste you will notice the difference between them do in the winter in the summer
Thank you! I’d only cover them if we get unseasonably cold temps like last year. I normally don’t worry about covering collards or kale.

Your garden looks amazing! I plant sweet tomatoes and garlic like you. When one comes out, the other goes in! I’ve done that last 3 years and it has worked well for me! It’s hard maintaining and beautiful garden and working full time! Great job! Thanks for sharing and happy gardening!! 🪴🌻😊💕

Yep! I did that last year. Hadn’t gotten around to it this year. One fell off while I was gone but there’s still one left.

My carrots have sprouted as well! I’ve never used a board or anything to cover them. Just direct sowed and kept them moist. 😊

Hey Asia it was fun hanging out with you in the garden today. You can make some delicious anise hyssop tea, a wonderful plant that is part of the mint family.
I had to move my peppers as well.they are in containers. I had moved them to direct sunlight, but they did not like it and started drooping. They did better with about some sun and shade.
O ok yeah I totally understand. Seems they do much better when they have the ability to get some shade after the sun for sure!
I said I wasn't gonna do fall garden, but yours is getting me a little more inspired. We'll see!

I am so glad I found your channel. I am also a backyard urban gardener who focussed on delicious organic food for my husband and myself. I am almost 60 and I have been working on creating my dream and future accessible garden. I live on Vancouver Island, British Columbia so I am super envious of your long growing season. You mentioned in one of your videos that you should figure out how much you produce. I do that. I have a small kitchen scale and i weight as much as my produce that I harvest and I write it on the front of my faux stainless steel fridge door with a white board marker. I also like to keep track of all my canning, drying and freezing. It is extremely satisfying to see how my harvest increases each year and where I struggle. Love your channel. Happy gardening!! Do you eat your sweet potato greens? I just discovered them as a food crop this year and they are so yummy and prolific, I much prefer them to kale! And I can get a second crop with the sweet potatoes themselves. And they love to climb!!

O Asia I love your garden & you inspire me so! Im having work on the house so I'm not able to start fall yet but I do grow bags. And I'm in Texas where heat has backed off some. I'm still believing tomatoes, peppers & okra will bounce back. I will get starts at Garden Center at $2 with 2 plants in container. I have high hopes frost date 12-8.

I am having to spray all my pepper plants with the hose everyday sometimes twice a day due to aphids. You spray them off. They come right back. I put diatomaceous earth on them. Didn’t make a single dent in it. So, my peppers haven’t been able to produce up to their potential, even with this Texas heat! 😩💜
Awww I’m sorry to hear that! Hopefully when the heat dies down you plants will have less pest pressure and will start producing!

Plant datura for hornworms it's their host plant so u get the beautiful moths to pollinate ur garden as well. Need some seeds let me know I just harvested over 300 seeds

Your county might give away rain barrels for free. Many give them away to help with water conservation.

I’m new to gardening also in 2020. This will be my first time planting a fall garden and I’ve been obsessed with videos. I feel a bit anxious if I’m gonna be successful; I’m in your same zone. I’m on track with starts I did my self beginning at the end of August. Anyway I came across your video journey from last fall and I’m very optimistic and excited for what’s to come. I have just got some grow bags recently I’m going to try to grow some potatoes for the first time hopefully things will work out. I’ve never tried it before.

My carrots are coming up now too! YAY! Zone 9A north Florida. Pumpkin is coming up, zucchini, winter squash, two different peas, lettuce, tomatoes.... Yep new to this Florida gardening thing. A few tips I can offer is (1) find your sun before you start your garden bed(s), (2) check your first and last frost dates before buying or planting (3) have fun and enjoy it! Your garden is looking awesome, Asia! I saw one of your videos in July, where you talked about delicata squash and how you cook it, and how it tastes. I immediately bought seeds and planted a couple since our first frost here is about October 15. I am pleased to say it has fruit on it, but I might have to bring it in the house because it has started to cool down. I am glad you talked about it the way you did, or I probably would never have tried to grow them. Have a great day!

You guys drink sorrel hot? We prefer it as a drink/juice . Boil them with a cinnamon stick and a bay leaf and sugar AMAZINGGGG on ICE

What kind of dirt do you use? And what fertilizer do you use?
I use my own compost but I also use Black Kow when I need to. The bags have Black Kow and Kellogg’s soil in them. I fertilize with an organic granulated fertilizer, fish emulsions and comfrey tea mostly
What do you use your feverfew for? I have some too 🌼
I haven’t used it yet. I’m preserving it and plan to do more research during the off season. I’ve seen that it’s good used medicinally. Once I have more information I’ll do a video.

I notice my peppers are finally producing fruit now that the heat and humidity has gone down. I have a tomato plant that's producing new fruit but very slowly. Did you direct sow your broccoli or start them indoors? I have some broccoli I'm planning to plant but want to make sure I don't waste the seed doing it the wrong way.
O yay! Mine are picking back up too!! I did not direct sow or successfully start them inside this year. I ended up get starts from my local feed and seed this year. Depending on where you are you may still have time to start them. Where are you located?

I did sweet potatoes in pots. I was digging around. I hope they are growing down deep...nothing was on the top part of soil. I planted peppers in pots. Put some in my front yard, which is south facing. They did not do nearly as well as those in pots in back...north facing. Lesson learned.
