I have been waiting for you to check out Angelina! As you can already tell from just 2 videos, Angelina is a very special singer. "Singer" is not really a big enough word... I think "vocal artist" is more appropriate. If anyone here is seeing her for the fist time, I encourage you to search her name and take a dive down this rabbit hole. She has so much more to hear. This is a legend in the making.
And I always try to leave this little bio for those just discovering Angelina, so that you can learn a little more about her background and her kind and caring soul.......

- Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 16
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos.
- *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help.
Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...barefoot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need.
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. After she won NGT, they did not want her to be thrust into stardom before she had a chance to grow up as a normal child, and get her education. They allowed her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that came in. Over the years since NGT, they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 130 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent.
- Angelina has written five of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield", "Oslo", "Million Miles", and 7th Heaven" (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a beautiful world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.
- Updates: On Aug 26, 2020 Angelina's Manager/Uncle announced in an interview that they have decided on Republic Records as the best fit for Angelina and she is now signed with them as their "highest priority new artist".
On Nov 6 she released her first single under Republic... "Million Miles"!
On March 19 2021 Angelina released her latest single "7th Heaven"
She has done so much already, but at 16 she is just getting started!!!
Maybe we can even call her a 'vocal virtuoso'. 🙂

I discovered Angelina 4 years ago & can't stop listening to her. I have never seen anyone like her, she not only has total control of her instrument, she writes & arranges her own songs & she re-arranges classic, iconic songs (like this) to make them "new." But I think her "magic" is her emoting skills, that are unmatched, IMO. As many say, if you want to listen to good music there are many great singers, but if you want to feel good music, listen to Angelina. Liked & subed for more Angelina reactions.
Every time I hear Angelina sing covers in her own way, I come to the conclusion that she is channeling an old soul like Patsy Cline, etc. She is a gem and the world will be amazed by her talent and creativity. Angelina arraigned this and almost every song she sings. When she was requested by Quincy Jones to sing Fly Me To The Moon on his 85th birthday concert in London she sang it to his original arrangement done for Frank Sinatra.

Bohemian Rhapsody cover was the most mesmerizing performance I have ever seen on a talent show ❤️ I kinda lost interest in music a while ago, because it is so much bad out there... but this girl brought me back, I startet to feel music again and her talent and all the tools she has in her vocals is insane for a teenager ❤️ Her own song Million Miles, about her grandpa passing away is an emotional and amazing song which hit me right in the feels ❤️ Have a nice day 👍
Welcome to Angelina's world. She is an extraordinary young artist with over 150 covers and other videos that she has recorded between the ages of 6 and 16 which is her current age. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8 and has already established herself as an accomplished Jazz artist. Her preferred genre is Jazz but she has done covers of about every genre you can name. What you will find in Angelina is a vocalist who doesn't do vocal gymnastics, she simply and beautifully interprets the story and meaning of the song and pours her soul into every performance.

Your mind is now blown wide open because she did, in fact, do the arrangement for this performance! You know, she also had to consolidate the song into the time allotted for her to perform on a Talent Show.
She chooses not to be a 'belter' and, instead, focuses on the soulfulness of her voice along with a hint of jazz and the blues. What you might want to listen to is her singing the Righteous Bros version of 'Unchained Melody' at, I believe 12 years old. Also. when she sings Whitney Houston songs she controls her 'belting' and doesn't want to harm her voice in any way. What's interesting is the way she does it, the listener still gets the full impact, the sensation of her voice at those moments. Her voice is magic and artistically she is, well, I'll let you describe it. (Many people in the trade suggest she is an artistic genius. She does play several instruments and when she does some of her rearrangements with a band she understands exactly what each instrument is capable of doing to make her arrangement what she wants. Btw, band members have been quoted as saying she is a pleasure to work with. Oh, since she was 8 years old!)
Your mind is BLOWN, yes she came up with the arrangement. SHE arranges all her song, most of the live stuff you will see she even has thoughts of how the music should sound. As you noted she uses her voice to serve the music- if it calls for a full open belt, she does it, if a whisper, she does it. She never shows off or oversings anything. Same for every technique at her disposal.
Her cover of Adele’s “All I Ask” has a little of what you’re looking for as does “Easy On Me”. She has a version of “I Have Nothing” with a lot of belting, but she was near the very top of her range at the time and was challenging herself.
For some vocal pyrotechnics try “It’s A Man’s World” she sang at age 12.
She has a lot out there from age 6 to 16 (and even something at 18months old!)

Hello Linor. This was a great reaction. I can understand much of your analysis, since it is based on your first introduction to Angelina and only hearing a small sample of her work in these two songs. Many people are are tempted to dismiss Angelina as simply "parroting singing styles" without understanding that there is a huge difference between imitating a musical style and understanding the techniques, nuance, and characteristics of a musical genre in order to re-create it at will. The more you listen to Angleina's music, the more you will understand that this young artist could teach a master level class in vocal technique and performance. This was her own personal arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody at the age of 13, which was acknowledged by the remaining members of Queen in a twitter post. They also granted Angelina the copywrite permissions for her unique version of their song so that she is free to record and release it under her own label, which she did.

I loved your reactions and insights to Angelina - as you can see from the comments you will have a lot to read and learn. One comment about belting. Angelina certainly can belt but she only does it when it fits her musical interpretation of the song. And in many cases, especially songs like these and tributes to artists and family members who have passed on, Angelina's belting is more of a painful, soulful plea or cry. In those cases I don't even hear a belt, rather, raw emotion.
Queen where blown away by ANGELINAS arrangement/performance. so much so that they gave ANGELINA the rights to her version ,which enabled her to go on Spotify etc .so high praise indeed from Queen.

She is called "The Barefoot Princess with 1000 Voices". She is able to adapt her voice to her arrangements of the songs.
Angelina was born on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway (16 years old today). So, you say she has more to give. You also stated that you have never experienced a young vocalist with this much talent, and it was obvious you were speechless and left in awe. This is what Angelina Jordan does with each of the 150 plus performances she has given the world. She is one of a kind and we have the pleasure of experiencing her.
Queen liked this performance so much they tweeded about it and allowed AJ the rights to this version, which is on her TH-cam channel.
Thank you Linor for a great first impression of Angelina. She is a lot to take in the first go round. Also I appreciate that you made the effort to react to Bohemian Rhapsody after that short TikTok of "Crazy" with just a cell phone! It's difficult for a vocal coach to react to Angelina because it's hard to find little things to criticize. She has been listening to and singing jazz since 3 years old and you will finds hints of jazz in many if not most of her performances.
She has been arranging the songs she performs since her appearances on Norway's Got Talent and I can say that because there are many videos of her showing the musicians how she wants the song played. Angelina is a musical genius. In this arrangement of BR she needed to impress an American audience on AGT in only 2 minutes and in America runs, riffs and vibrato are highly regarded, hence this arrangement. Angelina usually only gives the song what is required to make the song the star, not her over use of unnecessary riffs and belting. Many singers can belt. Many singers can hit extraordinary high notes. Angelina can do both but only if the song requires it. It is rare to find an artist who can deliver a song that conveys the emotion to the listener and Angelina does that time and again. IMO, the best performance for a "newbie" is Angelina's 10 year old, on stage performance of the jazz classic "FEELING GOOD"with a great band. Keep in mind that this is her arrangement. Thanks for your detailed reaction to Angelina...she IS an artist and her musicality is exceptional. She has recorded over 150 performances on TH-cam going back to 2013. So there are plenty of samples of her as an artist in many genres. You appear to be an experienced vocal teacher, so you will be able to appreciate her vocal and artistic development over time by picking from the many performances. You will not be disappointed. She is a musical and personal delight, and I have been infatuated with her for these past four years. Truth be said, I have not heard, in my 79 years, anybody who can express emotions in lyrics the way she can. Happy listening!

Angelina won Norway's Got talent in 2014, at the age of 7! Her B&W cover of 'I put a spell on you,at the age of 9 with Angelina doing her own arrangements, (since she was 7 years old) is just crazy. In the video, the page the gentleman is holding at the beginning, is actually her handwritten notes laying out what she expects from everyone. In studio, they playfully call her the "Little Boss". Only her grandmother is present, other than the studio crew. On the candle she holds up, is Screamin' Jay Hawkins. He wrote it, and performed it originally. Nina Simone later covered it. 😆💕
Angelina has sung barefoot, except for rehearsals, since age 6 in remembrance of an orphan girl near her age that she met on the street in the middle east. The girl was using bathroom scales and weighing people for money. It was cold, she was barefoot, and her feet were scarred. They chatted about their dreams, and she asked Angelina what her dream was. Of course, Angelina said she wanted to be a singer, and sing for the whole world, and asked the girl about her dream. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor, but that was not possible because she had siblings to care for, and she wished Angelina luck in becoming a singing star, and she told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina, on the spot, gave her the sea green boots, her favorites, that she was wearing and told her to never give up on her dreams, called her a “princess” and that she would always remember her.
Angelina wrote in her diary that day, “…to be able to do something for another human, it was such a big thing. Hard to describe really.” Angelina, at 9, became Norway's youngest author when she wrote a book about it, "Mellom to hjerter" ("Between Two Hearts"). Angelina promised herself never to wear shoes when performing again until there were no more children around the world without shoes, clothing, or family. In her book Angelina says, “In respect for you and all children like you, and that you prayed to God, today I walk barefoot on cold floors in front of so many people and sing. This book is for you little princess. You’re like sunshine! I remember and remember you every day.”
Angelina has raised many millions of Euros and Dollars around the world performing at charity concerts since age 8. So, to this day, almost 9 years later, Angelina has always performed barefoot in public. NGT Judge Mia Gundersen called Angelia’s voice, “a gift from the universe.” To me, the true gift to us all is Angelina herself.

16 on "Crazy"; 13 on "Bohemian Rhapsody". Arrangements are 100% Angelina's. The musicians refer to her as "the boss", but in a respectful way; she is in charge. In the first week after her performance of BR on AGT Champions, it had almost 10M views on AGT's Official YT channel. They dumped them all and no one has successfully explained why. Since that time her performance of BR has over 100M views (not counting the 10M dumped) on several YT channels. It is her most viewed performance. She has been honing her skills since she was a very young child, winning Norway's Got Talent by a landslide at age 8. Angelina is mainly a jazz singer and only belt when it suits the song. She is a storyteller. It seems like singing today is synonymous with belting. Every body does all the time. What I like about Angelina is just that there is always so much going on, so many details, when she sings.

Well all this analysis for saying that she has a style of her own that’s all she has a wonderful voice for sure but restrained also by her voice she cannot sings all genre of music she can’t sing opera for example she does not have enough power in her voice and the high that goes with that style of music it’s just and example and that’s ok my point is that she is a wonderful singer but not an exceptional singer

Angelina was nine years old when she did it and it most definitely arranged it. I wouldn't try to pinpoint who she is for a while because you will see and hear the complexity of who she is as you go along. I have never come across anyone like her . Her voice and how she uses it makes grown men cry more often than anyone would believe. She is an extraordinarily generous and empathic person and she never sings to impress but truly to have you FEEL the song itself.
There are two other recommendations I have for you. You like belting? Please watch her sing "This Is A Man's World." There are a few versions that are on TH-cam . the best one is with the Oslo Military Band .. I believe she was 12. I don't think that's the bands real name but you can easily tell by the military outfits they wear. You will enjoy what she does with it.
The last thing is to go back to when she was seven years old in Norway's Got Talent (which she won).. get the video that has translations so you can understand the judges .. it's actually worthwhile to hear what they say and how she affects them. All four songs are in one video (all picked by her): "Gloomy Sunday: (Billie Holiday), an a capella version of the very complex "I'm a Fool to Want You" (Billie Holiday but I believe she's covering Frank Sinatra's version), "Bang, Bang" (written by Sonny Bono sung originally by Cher but made famous actually by Nancy Sinatra) and ending with "Summertime".
It is a phenomenal look at who she is and how young she was able to not only sing but also fully embody surprisingly complex songs.
I am excited for you and your journey here with Angelina. She has a deep effect on most people. She is signed with Republic under a contract that says they won't introduce her formally to the music biz until she finishes school (this year sometime). Linor, my darling, yes, Angelina arranged this version of the classic song. And, I listened to and appreciated everything you have been saying but I can see it's too early for you to understand you are listening to a master artist. Please enjoy listening to these two songs by yourself and see what happens. First of all, when people see her and hear her for the first time they are stunned by the poise and confidence she exhibits in front of an audience, particularly on a Talent Show!
And then when people listen to her for the first time they are drawn in to where they almost become hypnotized! Their heads have no idea what is going on but their hearts knew immediately what was going on. Her soulful tones originate deep within her and her voice becomes pure love. And, Linor, this has been going on since she was 7 years old. What!? She was singing Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald songs at 7 and 8 years old. You haven't heard about her yet because she hasn't been officially marketed to the world yet (family decision) but she has signed with Republic Records and they are adhering to the wishes of her family and are not rushing things. In my view she is maybe the best singer in communicating the emotional aspects of lyrics. Her voice, technique and genius choices, are like pure angelic emotionally transfusion in to my innermost feelings. It is like a miracle to me. You can see improvement in each recording and by the time she finished Rolling in the Deep she was fully comfortable in her element. You have to love seeing her first Jump and silent cheer which showed her excitement after delivering that first chorus. She kept that enthusiasm through the rest of her performances. Frank Sinatra's drummer, and sun in-law of the late Henry Mancini, Greg Field, and bass player, Chuck Berghofer accompanied AJ on her Christmas Show that aired Dec 23 of 21, and they stated that she had the "storytelling ability of the greats, Streisand, Fitzgerald, Vaughan, including Sinatra. The main pianist, a three-time Grammy Winner, Shelly Berg, stated in all his years working with the greatest vocalist, he had never encountered a talent like AJ. Did I forget to mention Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, and the Eurythmics was part of the band for the show? Yes Angelina has been arranging her performances since she was 7. I have been following her for years and what is strange to me is when she was younger doing a lot of charitable events all over the world she took a tutor with her for school work but I’m not aware if she’s ever had a voice teacher other than when she was in school in Norway I’ve watched hundreds of videos of her including interviews and she never mentions a voice coach. An interesting fact English is her third language she is fluent in English, Norwegian, Farsi and Japanese she plays 4 instruments piano, guitar, flute and I can’t remember the other. She has performed all over the world for celebrities including royalty, prime ministers, former presidents. Has helped raise millions of Euros for charities. She has over 2 1/2 Billion views on Facebook and over 1 Billion on TH-cam I guess she doing something right. At 16 now she is a well seasoned performer and will be around for a long time especially with her signing with Republic Records last year.

The answer to your astonishment of how she can play with her voice in such a way is simple, an enormous talent. And yes, she makes her own arrangements, changes lyrics, removes, adds, changes runs and belts, perfectly mimics the original singer's style, but making it her own, you'll even find reviews that say she improves it. As a singer and voice teacher, you will have had vast experience of all the elements which are necessary for a singer to sing in such a way to reveal the emotions in the lyrics and melody and to communicate those emotions to the listener. So, it did surprise that you made so many assumptions about Angelina with so little experience of listening to her. I have been listening to Angelina from the time her first video was uploaded to TH-cam and quickly realised that when Angelina sings a song, there is only one purpose to her performance, and that is to sing it in a manner she considers the song deserves. Her musicality is far ahead of every singer I have watched over more than 80 years of listening to music.

More Angelina please:) As many have already said she is amazing artist for any age. She also has 1000 voices though she is a Jazz artist at heart. She puts amazing emotion into virtually everything she sings. She does all her own arrangements, and has done so since she was 7. Even if you do not have time to react on your channel you will enjoy her over 160 performances. Many jump back to when she was Age 7 on Norways got Talent (4 short amazing performances) before moving forward. Spoiler alert she won.

Her recent version of My Funny Valentine she explores more of these little near trills. She’s taking more jazz liberties with her voice now. Its more of a studio sound w her experimenting with the direction of the video. I think-it shows the direction her adult voice is going. At six feet tall her physical capacity w a larger larynx n pharynx gives her a very broad pallet to choose from. Thanks for this, i hope you enjoy more of her. It’s been quite an experience watching her record from the age of six years old until now. It brings an unusual familiarity who she is as a singer whereas pop is more about the product. Having a few years of support and viewing for more than 140 videos build an audience unlike any other marketing tool ever has. Her fans have a deep emotional investment.

First and foremost her love is jazz, soul and R&B but she can sing anything and ALWAYS makes her own arrangement of the song she is covering. She IS a prodigy without doubt but she is only 16 now and is still spreading her wings. I have seen over 100 performances from 6 to 16 and all of her originals and have yet to see a bad performance. Her musicality is off the charts and by the age of 12 she had already raised over 20 million for children's charities not to mention donating her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to a charity. She is truly a remarkable young woman as you will find in future reactions to her.

Yes, she arranged her version of 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. She started getting into participating in arranging from an early age. She knows what she can do and arranges a song as she sees it.
She can make any cover her own and takes us on an emotional journey every time. She is a modern day vocal Picasso as she can sing any genre and sings it usually better than the original every time. She only belts when she feels the song needs it . She is a vocal genius in that sense.
It is HER arrangement. As a matter of fact, QUEEN loved this version of the song and posted it on their page on the internet with huge kudos. Jordan is actually her middle name; her family name is Astar. I'm pretty sure this is her own arrangement, most everything she does is. After you've heard a few dozen of her 160+ songs, you will come to recognize the nature of her vocal control, she makes instantaneous adaptations to get the perfect sound. She has an enormous vocal toolbox, but hardly ever has reason to use them all in a single song. to her, it is the song that comes first, not whether she pushes out a bunch of vocal gymnastics to show off.
