The reason Angelina is barefoot is that when she was six years old she gave her shoes to a homeless girl in Iran and ever since then she has vowed never to wear shoes when she performs until all the children of the world have shoes. You absolutely need to hear her versions of "bohemian rhapsody" on America's got talent and her version of "I put a spell on you". I promise it is well worth it!

She’s really come into her own. She’s sixteen now, I think, and recently signed her first record deal. Her mom wanted her to wait so she could enjoy her childhood a little bit, and didn’t want her forced into that world too young. She’s incredibly versatile. Does a lot of great covers and some pretty great originals, too. She has a sweet personality, is very humble, yet determined. She’s also an author. Always goes barefoot because of a young homeless girl she met when she was a child. They shared their dreams together, and Angelina gave her her shoes. Beautiful person. Beautiful voice.

Thank you for a great reaction. Angelina is not only famous for her low voice, but also for her total control over that voice. She's also famous for her reason not to ware shoes when she performs. She is famous for her hard work. (160 amazing videos on youtube and then there are instagram and tiktok). She is famous for never being nervous on stage (even at 7 years old). She is famous for her musical understanding and so on and so on. And despite all this, she is a humble sweet girl who want to share her love for music with the rest of the world. Do you honestly think Nina Simone could come near to someone like Billie Holiday? She's good, but don't get carried away and let me hear some of her songs when she was 10? Not too long ago they rated 'The Top 50 Jazz Singers Of All Time' and she didn't come near Billie or the highest rated one of them all, Ms. Ella Fitzgerald. By the time Angelina reaches adulthood, she will blow by all of them.
@@nfpnone8248 Just been and done that - first time ever listening to Nina Simone, I did enjoy Nina's version, except for the end. I loved her phrasing of the song and her enunciation was beautiful. Angelina's version in both tempo and phrasing was totally different, and I liked the two very low notes she used when singing the word "good" at the beginning and end, and the amazing crescendo was to die for. It is pointless comparing the two performances because, as I have commented, they were so different. The only thing one can say with some assurance is that one performance was that of a 32-year-old woman and the other by a 10-year-old child.
I cannot take it away from Nina Simone that hers is the best recording of this wonderful song. Angelina's interpretation however is brilliant, and would rate as the best stage performance I have ever seen or heard, whether she was 10, 30 or 50. As we all know, incredibly, she was ten!!!!

Yes a favorite pass time of mine too. Watching someone for the first time listening to the Future Queen of Music. Always a happy moment for me you got about 160 songs to choose, currently she is 16 and dropped My Funny Valentine 2-14-22 but be warned, you may never be the same after watching her beauty and hearing the song will make your soul melt in the best away.

Our Barefoot Princess of Jazz! Of course she can sing in any other style she so chooses. Angelina has been singing barefoot during performances since she was 6. She met a young girl around her own age while walking with her family in the Middle East. The young girl was weighing people on a scale to make money. The girl had no shoes on and Angelina could see the girl had scars on her feet. They struck up a conversation and the girl mentioned that she liked Angelina's shoes and Angelina took them off and gave them to the girl. She told Angelina she would pray for her. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor but she could not because she had siblings. Angelina said she wanted to sing for the world. To this day Angelina sings barefoot until all the world's children has shoes, to remind herself of the girl and to remember the less fortunate in society.

If you let people listen to it, they will never guess her age and always guess this is a grown-up. She has an amazing lower register which you will discover if you go down her rabbit hole. She builds up subtly and beautifully towards the big blast at the end but the whole was magnificent. She is clearly happy and satisfied while performing. She performs bare foot because as some point she gave her shoes away to a poor kid in the streets and ever since she performs without shoes to raise awareness for poor children. She has done many charities to raise money for poor kids. An amazing voice, an amazing performer and, most importantly, an amazing person. You might want to position your microphone a little different as it blocks your face and surprised face at the blast :-)

You have just scratched the surface of this incredible talent. Being your first exposure to Angelina, you may be fooled into thinking she is so loved because she sounds older than her age. That might be the case for other child singers, but that is only a small part of what makes her special. Her musical intelligence is off the charts. She does things that make her age totally irrelevant. The choices she makes are those of a master level singer that has been doing it for decades. This will become more apparent when you hear more of the art she creates with her voice. She is not just "great for a kid", she is excellent for any age.

- Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 16
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos.
- *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help.
Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need.
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. After she won NGT, they did not want her to be thrust into stardom before she had a chance to grow up as a normal child, and get her education. They allowed her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that came in. Over the years since NGT, they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 160 songs and over 70 artists. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent.

The reason Angelina is barefoot is that when she was six years old she gave her shoes to a homeless girl in Iran and ever since then she has vowed never to wear shoes when she performs until all the children of the world have shoes. Her mom wanted her to wait so she could enjoy her childhood a little bit, and didn’t want her forced into that world too young. She’s incredibly versatile. Does a lot of great covers and some pretty great originals, too. She has a sweet personality, is very humble, yet determined. She’s also an author. Always goes barefoot because of a young homeless girl she met when she was a child. They shared their dreams together, and Angelina gave her her shoes. Beautiful person. Beautiful voice.

On AGT-C Angie made her outfit from silkscreen patterns of her grandma's art work when she was 13 back in Norway. She makes several of her other outfits for shows & concerts too. She also paints great, plays 5 instruments & speaks & sings 4+ languages, English being her 3rd. Angie turned 16 on 1-10-22. Angie is a very kind, giving, loving, respectful, humble & a big hearted Christian girl. She always sings barefoot when performing & she wrote a book about it at 9 called “Between Two Worlds” & she was/is the youngest to be published in Norway.

Thank you for a great reaction. Angelina is not only famous for her low voice, but also for her total control over that voice. She's also famous for her reason not to ware shoes when she performs. She is famous for her hard work. (160 amazing videos on youtube and then there are instagram and tiktok). She is famous for never being nervous on stage (even at 7 years old). She is famous for her musical understanding and so on and so on. And despite all this, she is a humble sweet girl who want to share her love for music with the rest of the world. At 16 she's already a legend in many fans eyes.
When she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent, she left the judges with their mouths hanging open.

Well, 10 year old Angelina has taken it to 'The Platinum Standard'

@@nfpnone8248 Just been and done that - first time ever listening to Nina Simone, I did enjoy Nina's version, except for the end. I loved her phrasing of the song and her enunciation was beautiful. Angelina's version in both tempo and phrasing was totally different, and I liked the two very low notes she used when singing the word "good" at the beginning and end, and the amazing crescendo was to die for. It is pointless comparing the two performances because, as I have commented, they were so different. The only thing one can say with some assurance is that one performance was that of a 32-year-old woman and the other by a 10-year-old child.
I cannot take it away from Nina Simone that hers is the best recording of this wonderful song. Angelina's interpretation however is brilliant, and would rate as the best stage performance I have ever seen or heard, whether she was 10, 30 or 50. As we all know, incredibly, she was ten!!!!
Hi Ridgemanron I was fascinated by your comments. You have great taste and drive and focas. I agree with you Nina Simone is one of the Greats Legends of all time. Just food for thought... Do you think it can be possible for any other Artist, to Learn from the Greats & Legends in the music history, to be as Great? As I personally continue to view this Outstanding Artistry of a youth who is musically sensitive, who has covered many genres learnt from past Musicians. For myself I don't think it's fair to compare Angelina Jordan to these Greats. The reason being, is she on par an equal & simply on the same playing field as Many of the Greats. The word Possible says it all...I'm possible. See for yourself as it's always good to make well informed choices. Would love to know how you got on?

Before you can make any assessment of AJ's voice, you need to see her more, because you haven't seen ANYTHING yet. She is Jazz! You should hear her at 6 and then at 16! She has COMPLETE control of her voice!

I just love watching people reacting to AJ for the first time. Now you want to see her in beast mode singing "I put a spell on you" a 1956 classic from Screaming Jay Hawkins (the guy on the candle). Better brace yourself! You will be totally blown away. She has over 150 video on YT, of that maybe 5 or 6 originals the rest are covers. Read about her you will be even more impress by her. Like learning the story of why she is performing barefoot. The great jazzman and (Michael Jackson producer) Quincy Jones said about her that she is the greatest musical talent since Michael Jackson.

Our Barefoot Princess of Jazz! Of course she can sing in any other style she so chooses. Angelina has been singing barefoot during performances since she was 6. She met a young girl around her own age while walking with her family in the Middle East. The young girl was weighing people on a scale to make money. The girl had no shoes on and Angelina could see the girl had scars on her feet. They struck up a conversation and the girl mentioned that she liked Angelina's shoes and Angelina took them off and gave them to the girl. She told Angelina she would pray for her. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor but she could not because she had siblings. Angelina said she wanted to sing for the world. To this day Angelina sings barefoot until all the world's children has shoes, to remind herself of the girl and to remember the less fortunate in society.

In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program (I read, that this school said, they couldn't teach her more stuff because she has all learned what she could learn in this school ;-) ) - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her grandma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield").

If you let people listen to it, they will never guess her age and always guess this is a grown-up. She has an amazing lower register which you will discover if you go down her rabbit hole. She builds up subtly and beautifully towards the big blast at the end but the whole was magnificent. She is clearly happy and satisfied while performing.
She performs bare foot because as some point she gave her shoes away to a poor kid in the streets and ever since she performs without shoes to raise awareness for poor children. She has done many charities to raise money for poor kids. An amazing voice, an amazing performer and, most importantly, an amazing person.
You might want to position your microphone a little different as it blocks your face and surprised face at the blast :-)
